Mildly interested in the Auto-de-blu eyeliner (I’m a sucker for purple eye-liner) but the shadows do nothing for me – just don’t care for any of the color combinations, and I’m honestly weary of the pre-panned duos since they seem to always be the lesser quality product for some reason.

Meagan Avatar

Is that first green color the one you made when you took a tour at mac? Those duos look amazing. Thanks for posting this stuff. You’re awesome christine!!

Daphnee Avatar

I like the idea of duos. They look so cute. I’ll be waiting on more info before deciding if this collection is worth me investing in.

Ashley Avatar

These sound great! I like the idea of duos, since you’re much more likely to like all of them than in quads!

However, I’m not seeing how: “Double Feature 1 Bright yellow gold (Veluxe Pearl) / Pinked-up chrome purple (Frost)” matches the promo picture at all!

natalie Avatar

I dont think I like the idea of pre panned duos… i feel like i’ll like one color but not the other and won’t wanna spend $25 for that… but i’ll just have to wait for your swatches since they always seem to change my mind haha

FC Avatar

Really, MAC?

Yeah….I’ll pass. The color combos are boring and there’s nothing new/ exciting. I think MAC needs to really cease with these biweekly collections and release something worthwhile. Honestly, everything after Baroque Boudoir was worth passing, IMO.

Lizzy Avatar

Agreed. These color combos are hideous. I’ll be surprised if anyone buys anything from this collection. The liners are the only interesting part, and even they don’t look THAT unique. Hopefully MAC will come out with something AMAZING as they usually do every fall.

Erca Avatar

Totally agree. I don’t see anything in these duos I haven’t seen elsewhere (particularly with l’oreal HIP) other than possiby the duo with the light yellow. The only other time I’ve seen that color was in a drugstore quad I bought 5 years ago for my senior prom. hat quad is phenomenal…so I think I’ll have to pass on this one.

leesie Avatar

The second and third duo look appealing. I’ll have to see swatches, but one might become mine. Also, that bubblegum pink looks like something I’d have fun with, but the shade it’s paired with isn’t all that unique.
Hmmm.

Vanilla Avatar

Nothing really jumps out at me and screams “you gotta have this!!!!!”, though that might be a good thing seeing as how I’m going to blow all my money on Semi-Precious anyway. Thanks MAC!

Atanza Avatar

Mostly just interested in the 222 brush in this collection… I like the Technakohls, but they make my eyes itch so I can’t use them. 🙁

Jesilyn Avatar

Skipping this collection completely. Nothing really interests me. I will save money & wait for the later Autumn/Winter 2011 collections that will be coming out shortly.

Lori Avatar

I like the idea of having a case for two eyeshadows, but I’m not a big fan of the color selection. I wonder if that case is anything like the four pan case. Hopefully it is, I might buy one just for that!

verybecca Avatar

This reminds me of Suite Array – hope the eyeshadow textures are better than that. Wish the pencils were pearlglides but this will save me money that they’re not. Thanks for the info!

BethM Avatar

These are cute, and I might be interested if I didn’t already have a huge stash of eye shadows. My favorite is the bright fuchsia/cool black, but…. I’m pretty sure I have both of those colors already.
It might be nice if they’d put out some re-fillable palettes for two-pans. I often just use two colors, and it would be nice to make a little 2-pan palette to toss in my bag.

Abi Avatar

I was just thinking that MAC was trying to get in on the NARS duo action. The NARS duos are tough to beat – the color combinations are striking, and the compact is a triumph of design.

Emma Avatar

Honestly…I want to buy one just so I can have the tiny MAC palette! I hate all the color combinations, but I’m seriously considering buying one just for the palette!

Emily O. Avatar

Oh and my nightmare of the Suites from summers past like Jacob Marley and his chains….rattling to remind me…doomed to repeat doomed to repeat. This collection has a tinge of the subpar about it. Don’t trust the quality and cannot stand an unnamed shadow (sorry Inglot we shall never be)

Amanda Dubs Avatar

Not too interested in this. Somehow it cheapens the eyeshadows to me that they don’t have names. Idk why haha. But thats good for my piggy bank!

SatelliteDreamer Avatar

Something about some of the shade descriptions makes me think a lot of these shadows are permanent. I’m interested in finding out more info upon the release of these.

Those palettes are darned cute! I wish they would sell them empty, for travel and such.

Alicesunnnn Avatar

I like the colors but I feel like there nothing too exciting… Also the pricing kind of sucks… Mac eyeshadows are $14.40 so 2 would be $29 so it is a bit cheaper this way… BUTTT a quad is usually anywhere from $34-$49 making it cheaper to do a custom quad than to buy two of these duo’s… Maybe Im just cheap but nothing screams special to me about this collection, I much more excited about the other fall collections then I am this one.

cloudburst Avatar

Unless the textures are amazing I am not excited. Especially remembering those terrible ones that came in the old brow powder cases.

bribri Avatar

The Canadian pricing sucks!! 1 pan eyeshadow is $13 so two would be $26, plus tax would still be cheaper than the 30 dollars it would cost to purchase these duo. To add injury to insult the colours nothing special.

Mina Avatar

haha ur so right! thx for reminding us canadians of the math, and how it’s cheaper to buy 2 PAN shadows in the permanent line rather than these two shadows (which don’t seem all that appealing) in this palette

Joan Avatar

i like a couple of the eyeshadows but the OCD in me cannot bear with breaking the normal container pattern of my normal mac eyeshadows… (2 shadows vs quads and singles… gah, imagine the nightmare of a random 1-2 palettes of 2 shadows!!!) urghhhhh!

tony Avatar

Cinematics is the name for the collection when it is@ nordstrom and the bay, when they launch globaly in aug 4th the name will change to colorazation.

Maya C Avatar

I’m relieved that I spent so much on the Summer collection! I don’t have to feel like I’m missing out on anything particularly interesting to me. I guess I’m not a fan of duos… I like either a single color or a larger palette for some reason.

nina Avatar

hmm, I don’t think I’m super excited about it because the eyeshadow colors seem so..common.. in my opinion.. I might look at the Jade Way or Purple Dash Technakohl Liners though.. Well we all have different opinions 🙂 I feel that MAC collections keep coming and going so quickly, I feel that it’s all such a rush and maybe they should slow collections down a bit..

Geek Faerie Avatar

I might pick up one or two of the eyeliners and possibly both brushes. Not seeing anything that grabs my skirt with the eye shadows. But MAC promo pics never seem to really grab me. Looking forward to the review though. As always thanks Christine! <3

Chandra Avatar

We are all still trying to get over the disaster of suit arrays. I was one of those stupid ones that bought all of them. Horrible mistake. Not going to happen again. Maybe they are better quality though.

Annie S Avatar

I know in relations to their single eyeshadows, getting a duo would be cheaper.. but I still can’t help but feel that this is still very expensive 🙁

DIVA Avatar

I DON’T KNOW THAT THIS COLLECTION IS SOMETHING I WOULD INVEST MY MONEY ON..DUE TO THE FACT THAT I CAN MAKE A PALETTE WITH $50 WITH FOUR EYESHADOWS AND COLORS THAT I LIKE. I ALWAYS USE MORE THAN TWO SHADOWS ANYWAY..BUT THE PRICE IS TRULY SOMETHING THEY SHOULD RECONSIDER.

Emily Avatar

I agree with wanting an empty 2-pan for travel purposes. I would totally buy that. haha Why has MAC been on a non-naming blitz? First the crushed metal pigments have no names except for an entire stack and now these.

Alexa Avatar

OMG I LOVE THIS!!! I love MAC pots and case form sothis would be perfect. I like the palette idea with two and it just makes everything wonderful. haha

hng23 Avatar

Meh. Most of the colours in the duos look close enough to existing colours (is that Rice Paper in set #1?) that I don’t feel the need to duplicate them.

Brie Avatar

Phew! I’m glad none of these products are remotely appealing to me because I’m going to spend quite a lot on the Semi-Precious collection only one month prior (and then even more on the Chanel fall collection). A mini-break for my bank account…Much welcomed, actually!

Piper Avatar

All of my pre-panned quads (Quite cute, Cham-pale, etc.) are extremely powdery, and not at all pigmented. I hope the duos are not that way. I’m glad though that i can save money, since i will not be buying any of this. Nothing seems that interesting from MAC anymore, anyway.

jan Avatar

well I’m not interested in this collection personally, But I think it will be great for people who are afraid of colorful eye shadows because there are semi-brightish colors paired with neutrals, perfect for someone to travel and plenty of nice fall colors!

JEN Avatar

Hey Christine!! I just got my nordstrom magazine in the mail for their pre anniversary sale. There is a collection exclusive to Nordstrom and the brushes are all different colors!! Well the hairs are. They are really cute.

Barrett Avatar

My nordstroms had this today when I went and i thought it wasnt released yet but i did pick up a few things and it wasnt preorder because it was on display and I got to take it home and everything.

Amanda Avatar

These are already out in Canada. I saw them at the Bay a few days ago….along with a few Look in a box sets and brush sets!! I wasn’t impressed by anything really!

Kennedy Shepherd Avatar

I got double feature 6, I saw the release date for the 29th.. but its already at my counter in macy’s! woo got it early!

Taylor Avatar

Definitely skipping this collection. I’m actually very disappointed in it. It seems like MAC is running out of ideas. I think I’m going to save my money for other upcoming collections that interest me.

MissCoqueta Avatar

Hello!!

I love your blog 🙂

I have a question: I know that the shadows in the double featured #1 are gold lemon and nocturnelle, but do you know the names of the rest? I’m in love with the turquoise eye shadows but I don’t want the brown ones. Can you help me?

Thank you!
