MAC Aztec Brick Eyeshadow Review, Photos, Swatches (Year of the Snake)

MAC Aztec Brick Eyeshadow ($21.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “frosted true copper” with a Veluxe Pearl finish. It’s a rich copper with orange and brown undertones and a frosted, metallic finish. Wet ‘n’ Wild Sparkle ‘Til Morning #3 is similar. bareMinerals Bragging Rights is slightly lighter. Tarte Tuscan Sun is lighter. Tarina Tarantino Dreamy #1 is a touch darker.

This shade was part of a quad in 2010, and it was as lovely then and as it is lovely now. The pigmentation is intense and true-to-pan, and the texture is that soft, dense, buttery delight that Veluxe Pearls are supposed to be. It applied smoothly and evenly, and it blended beautifully with little work. I didn’t experience any fall out during application or wear, and the shade itself wore for eight hours with no fading or creasing (no primer) but showed a faint sign of creasing after nine. The only real downside is that it’s a color that is popular across brands, and many of the versions available are really quite good.  It reminded me of how I felt the day Veluxe Pearls launched, and I remember standing at the counter swatching them going, “ooh! ahh!”

Very pretty. I have Wet ‘n’ Wild Sparkle ‘Til Morning #3, this shade and the dupe in that palette isn’t one i would see myself using that often being fair but it’s pretty!

Hello! Do you think that Aztec Brick is similar to UD Shag? Shag is one of my favs of all time and I’m always searching for good dupes since UD discontinued the deluxe shadows. Thanks 🙂

Although I don’t go in for copper or orange toned shadows, I love the look you did with this, Carbon and the 2 other shadows from this collection. I have the dupes for this shade from the Dreamy palette and from Bare Minerals and dupes for the other shades as well, so I can recreate the look but I’ll be passing on all of these shadows. Just too much product that I don’t need and a price tag to reflect the larger size.

So gorgeous & I love the snake print! But I already own Amber Lights and even though this one is lighter I probably wouldn’t use it once I got it. 🙁
