MAC Alluring Aquatic Pearlglide Intense Eyeliners Reviews, Photos, Swatches

MAC Alluring Aquatic Collection repromotes two shades of the Pearlglide Intense Eyeliner formula–both are part of the permanent range–that are packaged in a satiny teal encased pencil. Worth noting, there are no “droplets” on the packaging with this product, so if you’re really into the colors themselves, you can save a little bit of money by buying them in regular packaging. This formula wears eight hours on me, and they’re very emollient and creamy, so they don’t tug at the lash line.

MAC Black Line Pearlglide Intense Eyeliner ($17.50 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “black with gold pearl.” It’s a dark black with lots of gold and olive bronzer with subtle warm undertones. It was nicely pigmented in a single stroke, but I noticed that this was more shimmery than the last one of these I swatched (it’s part of the permanent range). The only dupe I could think of is Shiseido Black Sand, but it’s not as gold.

MAC Black Swan Pearlglide Intense Eyeliner ($17.50 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “black with pearl.” It’s a cool-toned, medium-dark black with silver shimmer and sparkle. The color payoff was mostly opaque in a single stroke. Tarina Tarantino Rockstar Love (P, $15.00) is less shimmery. NARS 47th Street (LE, $24.00) is more shimmery. She’s talking about the kohl pencils. Black Line looks like Laura Mercier’s Black Gold but it looks like Black Line is more black which is actually better. Laura’s pencils are just kohl’s, they’re not long-wearing. So that’s why I don’t use them. The texture is great but the wear on them is horrible. The only long-wearing liners are the creme pencils.

Black line is amazing. I had my face done at mac and seeing her swatch this on her hand had me sold straight away. I smudge it along my upper lash line and blend out with my 217 then add a little along my lower lashes with a flat brush. It’s a helluva lot of money for an eyeliner so will see how long it lasts me before I decide whether to rebuy.

I can’t for the life of me figure out why I don’t own Black Line already! It’s one of those things I should have got a long time ago! There is so much in my stash that would work well with it as well.

Sigh…..while I thought I’d fall for Black Swan, it’s really Black Line that has snagged my attention. I’ll be picking this one up when I get the gold-toned eye shadow from this collection (the name of which I’ve already forgotten!)

Clio’s twist-up pencil in Golden Khaki looks similar to Black Line, though less bronzy. Going by your description, it seems Black Line would perform better as I find Golden Khaki doesn’t glide on as smoothly as I’d like. Once it runs out, I might just have to pick up MAC’s ’cause it’s such a lovely colour!

Aww, why no droplets, MAC? 😛 Seriously, like everything else has them (except the brushes?). I guess maybe either it was too tricky to get them to look good on the narrow cylinder of the pencil, or when they tested it out, it actually made the pencil/brush less comfortable to hold/use.

Or they just got bored, LOL!

Black Line reminds me a lot of Local Wares by Mac from the Styleseeker line back in 2011. Local Wares is a Fluidline and it’s a lot browner than Black Line, but they’re similar enough that I’ll pass on Black Line. I’ve never tried a Pearlglide, but it does seem like a great formula and I’d love to pick up Black Swan.
