OMG this makes me soooooo happy! I love the Color Riche’s lipsticks I have the nudes and reds. These look so amazing! I will be owning a few of them…honestly maybe all!

$14 for l/s at Barney’s? L’Oreal at Barney’s? I get this is a designer collab, but even Lipstick Queen’s predecessor Poppy started out at 20, and that was 1990, iirc. Course Cargo started at Barney’s, went to Sephora, then/maybe now online at Ulta, and Kohl’s. The Balm just skipped Barney’s, but took the same path, S>U>K. Don’t quite get this, but S is doing CP, after all. Looking forward to Michelle’s swatches.

I don’t think she meant about purchasing from L’Oréal us directly, but from drugstores. Would these lipsticks not be available for purchase through the usual retail stores that carry L’Oréal?

I don’t quite understand how “Color 6 – Domination” (the red one) can be out of stock when you pre-order it ? I hope they come to Canada as well because the shipping fee alone is almost as much as the two lipsticks I wanted to pre-order.

I saw these in a Canadian drugstore downtown Vancouver (Rite Aid? CVS?) over last weekend. They had all the colors and they were about $14CAD, I think.

Based on the pics…I don’t think any shades will work for me in the emerald or blue cases..sad:(. I may still wanna get one just for the case…lol..they are that pretty.

Are these going to have the same strong scent as the regular L’Oréal coleur riche lipsticks? If so then this collection is an easy pass for me. Even the mere thought of that scent has me gagging.

The name “Balmain” conjures up images of the elegance of a by-gone era. I think I actually have a sewing pattern from the 70’s by Balmain (from Vogue patterns). What a shame that these are exclusive to Barney’s….once again, we Janie Canucks (and many others) won’t have easy access (though there is only one shade in all of these that appeals to me, since I don’t wear nude, blue or green lipsticks). I’m also curious about this “three tribes” terminology. I work with First Nations students and know that many Indigenous Peoples are protective of their culture and don’t like it being “borrowed” for materialism and profit. Wasn’t there a stink when MAC did some “Vibe Tribe” or similar collection a few years back?

I don’t think that they are making any reference to native peoples when they say “tribes” there — it just sounds like “fashion tribe.” Tribe is a broad term just referring to social organizational structure, although the term is used a lot in pieces of writing that involve native americans or other indigenous populations.

The word “tribe” isn’t exclusively used to describe native or indigenous people of the Americas — it has a broader meaning. I think the issue with MAC’s foray was that the ads looked vaguely, sort of, borrowing loosely from American native cultures, but the word “tribe” has been used to define groups of people all over the world.

I ordered Confidence and Confession. I normally don’t order stuff unreviewed and sight unseen and I’m not even a big fan of L’oreal lipsticks but these are a special case.

I hate the work of Balmain’s current creative director with respect to the fashion lines, but I hope you will be reviewing these because they look interesting!
