L'Oreal Gold Imperial Infallible Eyeshadow Review, Photos, Swatches
L’Oreal Gold Imperial Infallible Eyeshadow
What’s Your Favorite Holiday Gold?
L’Oreal Gold Imperial Infallible Eyeshadow ($7.49 for 0.12 oz.) is a metallic, yellow gold. There’s a slightly subdued quality to the overall color–by a little brown–that keeps it from being a yellow/orange kind of gold. This is why it’s not the same as L’Oreal’s Eternal Sunshine,, though if you rarely wear gold, one will do; or, if you find that Eternal Sunshine turns orange-y, you might prefer Gold Imperial. Chanel Apprence is browner. Urban Decay Blitz is very similar–less metallic. MAC Sweet & Sour is yellower.
If you love sparkling, shimmering, and high-shine finishes, Gold Imperial is exactly that. It’s really a dead-on holiday kind of finish; all glitz and glam. One of the best things about this product is that for as sparkly as it is, I didn’t have problems with fall out. It applies mostly opaque, and after twelve hours of wear, I didn’t spot any creasing or fading–and that was on its lonesome (no primer). Because of its high-frost, high-shine finish, it can emphasize any imperfections on the skin where you apply it, including dry areas and lines.

What a gorgeous gold! I love the sparkly finish of the L’Oreal Infallible eye shadows!
Hmm, it’s a bit light and yellow for me. I prefer my golds a bit more antiquey. My current favourite is OCC’s loose colour in Cruising – I just got it to go with my Christmas party dress!
Funny, I was just thinking of this shade 30 minutes ago and wondering if you would review it! I’ve been wearing the heck out of my Loreal Infallibles lately including Gold Imperial. Yesterday I wore Gold Imperial on the lid and UD Snakebite from Naked 2 in the outer V and crease and loved the look. I’ll definitely wear it again.
The only thing I’ve noticed is that I don’t get the impeccable wear from the Infallibles like I do from my ETK. I rarely have issues with anything creasing on me (esp. in fall and winter) even though I don’t use primer so I was surprised to find that some days these crease on me after about 9-ish hours, on other days they don’t crease at all for me.
Also, I do get slight fall out from these and ETK throughout the day. I especially notice it on my glasses. The inner side of my lenses have a fine dusting of sparkle on them after a day of wearing these. It’s not extreme or even bothersome or anything, but I do notice it when I clean them.
Overall, I love these and I wish they’d come out with more colors. Especially purples and an antique gold.
Tried and it and love it, it definitely deserves that A.
How does this shadow compare in colour to Urban Decay’s “Half Baked”? xx
Half Baked is more coppery!
You can get these colors/ type for $6.49 at Target…I think Target is cheaper than Walgreens or CVS…
Oh man, I just picked this one up yesterday. It is gorgeous. This is the 3rd Infallible I have bought and what I love most about these is that they are so majorly pigmented and NO fallout! They build up so nice. I cannot believe the quality of these for such an inexpensive price. I love these.
Oh wow is that gorgeous!! I saw it and it reminded me of my Chanel Vision that I just got that cost….well, more than this unfortunately. I need to get to Ulta today.
I actually bought this one when it was first released (April, I believe), and although I don’t wear alot of golds, I really like this one.
This looks like a great shade for Christmas eye looks 🙂 I’ve been looking for a gold eye shadow and I think I’ll give this one a go x
I love these shadows!! Especially the one in Iced Latte! Personally I find they do sometimes crease without a primer after 8 hours, depending on the weather/humidity (not that that will be much of a problem in Winter).
I have Eternal Sunshine.. I think I like this one more, might give Eternal Sunshine away and get this one instead!
This is my favorite of all of the Infallible eyeshadows. It is so pretty and the kind of opalescent particles make it really unique.
That’s a really pretty gold. ^^ I have my fair share of golds though… I want to get L’Oreal Blinged & Brilliant instead.
I noticed that the eye image is the same as the one you posted in the L’Oreal Blinged & Brilliant review.
So is B&B on the inner part of your lid while Gold Imperial on the outer part?
Yes 🙂
I love my L’Oreal Golden Emerald eyeshadow. Would you say this one is just as sparkly??
Yep – a little more metallic, though!
Thank you for letting me me know, I love how sparkly these are!
Christine, I love the simplicity of the look you did to show this color on your eyes. It’s stunning! I considered this color, being a fan of the L’Oreal Infallible shadows, but it looked too yellow in the pot at first for my paler-than-alabaster skin coloring.
This looks gorgeous, we have a really limited selection of shades in New Zealand, and just to make things harder they have different names! I wonder if the numbers stay the same. Pretty sure I haven’t seen this one, I’m also keeping an eagle eye out for the new Maybelline Colour Tattoo shades, I REALLY want those!!
I never saw them in my stores 🙁 I was so bummed!! When I finally saw a DISPLAY for the LE Color Tattoos, they were all gone. I hope you find them!
I always love your reviews, Christine! I’ve had this shade for awhile now, but I have SUCH a hard time with it creasing and fading. I’ve done with a primer, without a primer, and I always get the same creasy result. Any application tips?
Thank you, Katie!
I use MAC’s 239! have you tried using them damp?
I absolutely love their pigmentation,
L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow have superb pigmentation.
How does it compare to UD’s lit?
This is yellower.
Is this applied wet in the photo? I tried it out today for the first time (over a primer) and didn’t get any gold color at all, only some shimmer 🙁 It was pretty, but I want the color as seen in this photo!
Dry! I used MAC’s 239 brush!
