L'Oreal Gold Dust Colour Riche Nail Lacquer Reviews, Photos, Swatches
L’Oreal The Statement Piece Nail Lacquer
L’Oreal Gold Dust Colour Riche Nail Lacquers ($6.99 for 0.40 fl. oz. each) is a limited edition formula for the holidays. There are nine shades available, and I have four to share with you in this post (I don’t have the rest, and I’ve yet to spot these locally). The Gold Dust formula is a textured polish, so it dries to a matte finish with a “luminous and sandy finish.” I haven’t spotted them online (most of the limited edition mass products don’t!), but they are supposed to be available at your local drugstores. The texture of these is slightly thick, and the brush is on the wider side; if you have narrower nail beds, I think these might be somewhat frustrating to use. For me, it was only troublesome when I applied the polish to my pinky nail. Two were fine with just two coats, and then two could have used three thin coats as there were some areas that were sparse. I tested The Statement Piece for wear, and it lasted seven days with some tip wear but no chipping (I rarely get chipping, though, just as a note!).
The Statement Piece is a pale, champagne gold with a sandy, glittery texture and silver sequin glitters. This one sparkled nicely, applied well, and was totally opaque in two coats. None of the following mentions have the textured finish, but the colors are similar. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Cruising (P, $10.00) is yellower. Revlon Gold Coin (P, $4.99) is cooler-toned. Chanel Diwali (LE, $27.00) is darker. See comparison swatches.
The Reign of Studs is a cool-toned, light-medium purple with silver sparkle and silver sequins. It was nicely opaque after two thin-to-medium coats and dried down quickly. This one was really lovely on–very sparkly and dimensional. Zoya Carter (P, $8.00) has a textured finish, but it’s a red-toned purple. China Glaze Skyscraper (LE, $8.00) is bluer and not textured. See comparison swatches.
Rough Around the Edges is a matte black with a sandy, sugary texture with silver sparkle. It was mostly opaque with two coats, though I’d do three thinner coats to get fuller opacity with this particular shade. I didn’t have anything that really looked quite like this when it was dry. Shades like Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Batty (P, $10.00) and Illamasqua Creator (P, $17.00) are black with silver sparkle, but they’re glossy.
Hidden Gems had a blackened, sandy base with teal shimmer and silver sequin glitter. This shade took unusually long to dry, and it didn’t dry evenly–I sat around fifteen between between coats, then another thirty after the second coat, and the camera picks up where it’s still slightly wet (anything that seems shinier/wetter). I think this one really needs at least three thin coats. I don’t have a lot of textured polishes, so I don’t have a dupe for this, though the composition reminded me of L’Oreal VIP Status (DC), which is metallic/shimmery (traditional polish). See comparison swatches, just for fun.

This reminds me of the new essie collection!
I love hidden gems I have been stalking drug stores for it. Haven’t seen it in the wild yet though.
Me neither, but I admit that I feel like I almost never see new collections (especially anything LE) locally!
I have a pretty good Rite-Aid they normally get the LE collections first. I just have to battle the girl that buys the whole display to sell on e-bay…
Beautiful polishes! Can you please tell me what remover do you use/like ?
Thank you 🙂
Hi Najlaa,
I use Zoya’s Remove+! 🙂
I’m pretty sure the people at my local CVS and Walgreens think I’m a bit crazy since I’ve been calling every week asking about these. I wish I lived by an expanded Bed Bath and Beyond! Where did you grab yours?
Hi Kate!
These were press samples! You can find that info at the very top of the post! 🙂
These are starting to pop up at some of the Rite Aid stores in my area, but not anywhere else that I’ve seen. The finish is interesting but not to my taste, so I’m a little glad I passed on them. I like it much better with a glossy top coat!
I really love the look of Hidden Gems with the top coat applied (I don’t much like the rough, matte finish of any of them without top coat). Christine, how are these to get off? (I noticed we share the same rant about glitter polishes and I’m sure there were others who ranted the same thing).
I find that they’re slightly easier than glitter, but they’re not as easy as regular polish 🙂
Thank you for asking this! I just came on to post about the very same thing. Appreciate it! And thanks for answering, Christine!
Oooh I lllllllike ’em! Good to know about these!
I love Hidden Gems! Sadly, textured polishes chip on me badly. I just bought China Glaze Put a Bow On It and it chips the very next day. 🙁 It’s so strange. Nail polish hardly ever chips on me but it’s like textured polishes are not my friend.
Weird, I am the opposite. Textured polish lasts forever on me, but nothing else will!
Me too 🙂
Ah.. I’m so impatient for this “texture” polishes trend to be over! Hidden Gems looks terrific in a bottle, but it’s all lost when it dries into that sandy something. And usually these polishes are so topcoat-thirsty, that it’s impossible to keep them nice and shiny for a few days.
i randomly picked one of these up at rite aid last night (i can’t remember the name, it was a dark plum). I never buy drug store polishes, but they were so pretty, i had to try one. i didnt even realize they were the textured matte finish. now i am really excited to try it!
What type of top coat do you use to keep it shiny like in the photos? Every time I put a topcoat on, it just dries down to a textured finish
Seche Vite! You might need to do two layers of top coat as some textured polishes just “eat” the first layer!
Just want to ask everybody to share experience how to remove this type of nail polish? I’m trying to avoid to buy nail lacquers with sparkles and glitters because of hardness to remove them.
If you have access to Target, they have a “dip-it” polish remover in their house brand. Instead of a sponge, there are bristles inside that surround the nail, and removes *every* speck of glitter, and even dark polish that lingers around the cuticle in less than 5 seconds.
Olga I use acetone on a cotton swab wrapped in tin foil. Let it sit for about 10 minutes and remove. No more polish and no scrubbing at your nails or toenails trying to removr….love it
The statement piece looks just like O.P.I. Mariah Carey my favorite ornament…
These are so pretty!!
Love them with the top coat! Do you feel a rough texture onve the top coat is applied?
Nope! Just make sure to use a really thick top coat or do two layers!
These look pretty. I’m still strictly Zoya Pixie Dust… but some of these look great.
They look awesome! I always wanted shimmery and glittery nail polishes!
Ooh, these are nice! Unfortunately, my local L’Oreal counter doesn’t carry nail lacquers. 🙁
I got the gold one yesterday and its brilliant 🙂 Love it !
I bought a few of these but I swear mine do not have any names, just numbers!
What top coat do you use with these? they look so amazing!
I used Seche Vite!
Oh Boy! It looks exquisite on the nails! perfect for the holiday season!
I’d been looking for a drugstore version of those super cool textured nail polishes and I’m SO glad to see this! I think I’ll be picking up The Reign of Studs and/or Rough Around The Edges,
…aaaand every single one of these is coming home with me ASAP! (reaaally hope that they’re all in stock at my nearest CVS!!!). These kinds of textured polishes usually freak me out (haven’t tried them yet but the concept is just a bit strange to me) but they look so gorgeous and multidimensional with a top coat so I’m in! 🙂
perfect! wish list
That blue one is awesome!
I love the finish they give and how you have the option of just applying a top coat if you want them glossy!
If anyone has a Meijer store near them(I live in MI), I just saw these tonight. I didnt buy since I wanted to check online what people were saying. But they had 2 box displays of them with 3 of each polish color. $4.99. I will go back and get some, I liked your picks and plan to buy Too Dimentional, Sexy in Sequins and Hidden Gems. But all were beautiful.
