LORAC PRO Palettes (2020) Swatches
What year is it? It’s 2020 and time for a reformulation of the LORAC PRO Palettes (now $35.00 each) — sort of. The eyeshadow formula has been updated, while the color stories are a bit different. There are two 18-pan palettes, Soleil (warmer-toned) and Noir (cooler-toned), along with one larger, 25-pan palette.
Meraki ($45.00) is larger, square-shaped palette that contains 25 shades with a lot of names that sound familiar, though some are reminiscent of previous shades and others seem like departures. I did notice that the quality of the mattes in the Meraki palette felt weaker–sheerer, thinner–and did not seem to perform (at least in initial swatches) at the same level as the two smaller palettes. This might have been a result of the matte shades in Meraki being a lot lighter in general.

Hmmm. I’m open to this, but then I keep having the thought that I should just use the Lorac shadows I already own more often. But I also want to support Lorac if these really are the new Pro palettes. I’m torn. I’ll wait and see.
Hmmm is it wrong that Iām more interested in the Noir palette than the Natasha Denona Glam palette? ??āāļø? It looks like it has more variety as opposed to all the looks being very similar.
Noir does have that ND Glam look about it, doesn’t it? I was thinking that too.
I have both palettes, and I have to say that I prefer the Lorac Noir palette. I can get more looks out of it, and the colours are more varied and rich. I was pretty disappointed with the Denona Glam palette, which just gives a grey shadow … no matter how I use the colours.
I wasn’t thinking it’s more interesting, but I definitely was thinking they’d go VERY wELL together. Noir is just that, darker. Hmmmmm, at that price and nice I have zero Lorac palettes, it may find it’s way home. š
So many interchangeable shades! The Noir palette alone has four colours which look virtually identical in the pan, and will most certainly look the same on the lids. And all three are warm warm warm. An easy pass for me.
Swatches all look great, definitely looking forward to seeing reviews. I would definitely pick Soleil if I was going to get one.
The first thing I think of when I see “Meraki” is the network switch lol
I love all the shimmer shades – and I think the brand has done these well, from looking at the swatches. Some of the mattes do look a bit wishy washy, although that could just be the shades. Personally, I am liking the Noir palette the best.
I no longer own the originals. I liked them, but they all started to smell weird in a relatively short period of time compared to my other palettes. Iām hesitant to try anything else from the brand unless theyāve really changed the formula to preserve the product better.
It’s still three warm, red-toned palettes. Will truly cool-toned ones never come back? What about ones with gray and green tones rather than red tones? I love the Artist Couture neutral palette for being more yellow-green undertone friendly.
Noir has captured my interest. It has variations in the shades that I would have loved to have seen in the ND Glam Palette, as in some purplish taupes and a muted plum. More green eyed friendly cool tones. Meraki may just be more workable in practice on the eyes than it swatches, or so I’m hoping.
I am a devoted fan of the original Lorac palettes, so I have high hopes for these–specifically the Noir palette, though I am disappointed so many of the shades seem to be dupes of one another. Perhaps on review they will stand out with different finishes?
I’d like to try one of these. I love the original LORAC palette-I used that one all the time….then other palettes came into the picture lol. I will def. be trying these! Hopefully Ulta will have 20% off soon.
Swatch mania! You’re on a roll, Christine! I feel like it’d be worth it to invest a little more to just get Natasha Denona. Some of the shades within these palettes seem to dupe themselves without having much apparent difference in texture or formulation (Aurora & Mirage; Mojave & Desert Rose; Primrose & Stardust; Rendezvous & Whiskey…).
I was really excited about Noir but all of the shimmer shades look the same compared to each other.
These look to have a lot of similarities between shades within the same palettes…
I haven’t used Lorac before so can’t comment on the quality but I have the Colourpop Bare Necessities palette so I think I’m covered for neutral eyeshadows for good…
Iām not feeling it based on swatches. Soleil runs too orange, too many shimmers in Noir, and too many yellows and dodgy looking swatches in Meraki. My original pros are long gone and donated. I enjoyed them at the time, but I do not miss them.
The Noir palette is interesting if it reviews well. I have never purchased Lorac products before so I have nothing to compare to, it might be time to try them.
The lorac formula has never worked for me and I had gotten rid of all their palettes in my collection so even with a reformulation, these are an easy pass tbh haha.
For how I wear eyeshadow, Soleil has the perfect balance as far as light and dark/ shimmer and matte. BUT I would prefer a cooler tone. All three are a skip for me.
Lately I just want to find choice singles that fill a niche that’s missing in my collection, or dupe the few shades I’ve used up in palettes
I can’t explain why I am so excited about this release, but I am. I’m also surprised at how much I like Soleil. It’s got some lovely yellow-toned transition shades I’d like to put in the Noir in favor of the purpley shadows to make it “perfect.” I look forward to the official review. And hope you grabbed the petite palettes too.
Don’t most of us already own enough neutrals and especially browns? I used to love Lorac but, c’mon, no one and I mean NO ONE can tell the difference between 20 shades of medium brown once you’re wearing it on your eyelids. One of these palettes would be nice for someone just starting out in makeup but otherwise I think it’s a million shades of boring.
is it just me or the colors all look very similar to each other..?
