Good Morning, USA
About this Look
I wanted to celebrate the 4th of July by incorporating the colors of the US flag into my makeup. The look also dips into classic rock-the bold, stripy design of my eyeshadows was inspired by David Bowie.
Step-by-Step Guide
I applied a mix of L'Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion Creamy Natural foundation and Urban Decay All Nighter 2.5 foundation to my face, using an Equate deluxe puff for Creamy Natural and a CoverGirl powder puff for 2.5. I used the included doe-foot applicator to apply Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Ivory concealer to my zits and dark circles and blended it in by tapping the zits and massaging the dark circles with my ring finger. Using the included puff, I set my foundation and concealer with CoverGirl Clean Normal Skin Creamy Natural pressed powder. I used the small brush from a L'Oreal blush to apply NARS Satellite of Love highlighting blush to my cheeks and the bridge and tip of my nose and moved the brush horizontally and vertically, my pinky finger in a diagonal motion, and then the brush in circles to blend the blush over my cheeks.
I used an e.l.f. eyeshadow brush to apply Urban Decay Slowburn pressed pigment* to my lids. I took the larger end of the brush that comes with the Electric palette and used it to apply NARS x Erdem Flourish eyeshadow in the crease, making sure not to blend it into the red for a more defined, stripy look. I used the bare side of the e.l.f. brush to apply Urban Decay Revolt pressed pigment to my browbone-again, making sure not to blend it into the blue. To ensure that my eyes were as bold as I wanted them, I added a bit more Flourish to the crease with the same Urban Decay brush for extra definition. I wore Christian Louboutin Beaute Rouge Louboutin Lash Amplifying Lacquer on my top lashes and CoverGirl Katy Kat Eye Perry Blue mascara on my bottom lashes.
I used Blistex Raspberry Lemonade Blast lip balm to give my lipsticks a smooth base to adhere to. I applied Kat Von D Studded Kiss Creme Underage Red lipstick to my top lip and Kat Von D Studded Kiss Hexagram lipstick to my bottom lip, and then I smacked my lips together.
*NOTE: Slowburn, Savage, Jilted, and Urban from the Electric palette use a red pigment that has been found safe in Europe but remains untested by the US FDA. As per my call to them roughly 3 and a half years ago, Urban Decay customer service recommends that these 4 colors not be used for tightlining and that people with eye sensitivities should keep them away from their eyes altogether.
