We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! When I want to feel empowered, I feel it’s all about the eyes/eye contact, so I prefer my lips to not pull focus. Therefore, I tend to go with a nude or soft MLBB shade.

Right now, I reach for Illmasqua Glissade. I wasn’t going to purchase this one since the regular Illmasqua formula gives me desert lips, but the new formula works perfectly and I get great wear. I love the matte finish and this particular colour is just glorious, enlivens my complexion, makes me feel just great.

lipgloss: Chanel Glossimer in Savage Grace

lipstick: Burberry Lip Cover in Bright Plum, Chanel Rouge Allure in Rouge Noir, Guerlain Rouge G in Gigolo or Gisela, Guerlain Rouge G L’Extrait in Orgueil, Tom Ford Lip Color in Bruised Plum or Wild Ginger

Sephora Lip Cream in Always Red! It’s the most intense matte red I have ever seen. It’s a pain to put on because every mistake shows, but when done right it’s gorgeous.

My first choice is MAC Dubonnet because the darkness in this red really draws me to it, then Bite Beauty Vib Rouge (Red), MAC Russian Red or Russian Red + Venetian Lipgloss.

I don’t know if I have a specific power color but I like dark bright pinks and fuschias with opaque coverage and good staying power (hard to feel powerful when you’re worrying about your lipstick wearing off). MAC’s Daddy’s Girl from the Archie collection would be a good example.

Bobbi Brown Twilight, Clinique Moon Violet, or MUFE (can’t read name, it is in an old round container containing a built in brush, but is a brilliant dark blue based red) I’m basically going a shade darker and brighter than my own, which really makes them stand out. They’re pretty big, so I often don’t like to draw attention to them and have learned how to time down their natural medium/deep plum cherry color so that I feel more comfortable. I guess that as I aged I’ve lost that oomph to do anything on any given day, as I once did, but I still try to work it I’m a more wearable way. (If that makes sense) 😀

Red is definitely my power color! The ones I reach for the most when I really want to make a statement are Urban Decay F-Bomb or Rouge Bunny Rouge Raw Silence. Comfortable, long-lasting (and I’m pretty sure my lips just repel color), and really intense!
