Linda Hallberg Metallic Mysteries Eyeshadow Quad Review & Swatches
Metallic Mysteries
Linda Hallberg Cosmetics Metallic Mysteries Eyeshadow Quad ($59.00 for 0.88 oz.) contains a wet/dry formula that are designed to be “highly pigmented” and the finish seems to be what intensifies when used with a damp brush. The pigmentation of two shades was fairly pigmented either way, but two shades were less pigmented when used dry. Otherwise, the textures were great–smooth, blendable, dense without being too firmly pressed–and easy to use with good, eight-hour wear across the board.

Dead Star
Dead Star is a medium-dark plum with subtle, warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had good pigmentation both dry and wet, though the dampened application yielded a slightly deeper, richer color and a stronger sheen. The consistency was soft, smooth, and blendable without being too soft or too firm in the pan. It wore well for eight hours when applied dry and eight and a half hours when applied wet.

Gamma
Gamma is a bright, medium-dark copper with strong, warm undertones and a metallic finish. The eyeshadow was richly pigmented both dry and wet, though the dampened application appeared deeper and more metallic. The texture was smooth to the touch without being too dry or too firmly pressed in the pan, which made it easy to work with even over bare lids. This shade stayed on well for eight and a half hours dry and nine hours applied wet.

Collision
Collison is medium gold with warm undertones and flecks of larger sparkle and a metallic sheen. It had semi-opaque color payoff applied dry and was best patted on with a flat, synthetic brush to maximize adherence to bare skin as it was a bit thicker compared to other shades. Applied wet, the eyeshadow had opaque pigmentation that applied beautifully to the skin. It wore well for seven and a half hours with some fallout dry and nine hours with very minimal fallout wet.

Heard about LH through Michele’s blog. This is the only palette in stock. The pencil sets look fab. Looks like a break the internet line. I think a critical point is that every product is safe everywhere.
They most likely sold out due to the special they had. If you purchased the Enchanted Secrets Palette plus another set, you got free international shipping plus the new Mood Crayon and sharpener. The line is fantastic.
These are gorgeous! But I have two dupes, so I’ll be skipping.
Christine, I watch Puffin’s Wife on You Tube. She loves her brushes. She has a great one for prescion. Just thought I would share
Interested to see you review Lida Hallberg’s line. I’ve followed her blog for a while. Her looks are incredible but I can’t trust her review of any product because no matter what it is, she says it is so pretty and amazing! That’s why I come here for honest reviews. Lol. I’ve especially been interested in the crayons, but haven’t pulled the trigger on any yet.
I actually really liked them – they reminded me a lot of Pat McGrath’s general formula in the larger palettes.
Hi Christine,
Would you say this one and the other one you reviewed are as good as or better than Pat’s entire eyeshadow line? Pat’s palettes are still the only ones I really would like in my collection (but can’t find yet in France).
The entire range? That’s kind of hard to say since quality really does depend on shade to shade 🙂 They are both good eyeshadow formulas.
Well, I mean’t your overall feeling. I was wondering if they were of similar level of quality. But I decided, I’ll go back and visit you rating and comments of the Pat McGrath palettes and compare them. 😉
After doing a lot of palette vs. palette (thanks again for the tool) and individual eyed comparison, it seems overall Pat’s rate better (and at least by the swatches it appears that Pat’s are more pigmented). That said, I understand you comment about shade by shade comparison, where Linda has a couple that really pop for me. I’m glad I did the comparison thanks to your site. I think if I decide to invest in Linda’s palettes, for now Enchanted Secrets is the one that interests me and would be more unique for me.
Enchanted Secrets would be a good way to get some of the oomph shades from PMG’s range without buying all her palettes (as they are scattered across) at least!
They’re both good formulas – I don’t specifically know which I’d choose since I’d have to actually pull them all out and see. They’re just… good? LOL! 🙂
Stunning!
I’ve never heard of this brand, but these shades are beautiful. Too much $$$, though.
What a beautiful little quad – gorgeous shades from a brand I’ve never heard of before. Lovely eye look Christine.
It’s very pretty but due to the price and the fact I wouldn’t use the gold/bronze ( sick of them and have plenty) I’ll probably pass.
Yeeesss! I was hoping you would have some Linda Hallberg cosmetics at some point to review. I’m dying to purchase this and the Enchanted Secrets palette, but it’s tough to bite the bullet on a hundred dollar order.
Thank you for the review!
What fun that you review a palette from Linda Hallberg. I’ve been thinking about getting this palette, but I find it a bit expensive. I have dupes for two of the colours so I’ll probably pass.
I do have her first palette, I’ve forgotten what it is called, I wasn’t super impressed by it, but I seem to remember it being true to the description.
I am tempted by her pencils, I think she calls them crayons.
I like that all products can be used on eyes, face, lips and all over.
All 4 are shades I’d use constantly. Which is likely why I’ve got 3 out of 4 duped! So, this one won’t be coming home to me. Love the eye look you did with it! Inspiration!
Originally I wanted it but it’s extremely overpriced
So glad to see you review Linda Halberg’s line. I have all her products and the quality is excellent. Plus I love the concept that you are the creator and her products are meant to be used how ever you want.
When I first looked at the palette without seeing Linda’s name, I thought it’s a Laura Mercier palette. It has the same layout and design as LM four-pan Face Illuminator palettes.
I bought this quad along the Enchanted secreted quad in January and I have been loving them. The purple reads purple on me and not black, they build in pigmentation easily. Applied sheer they have a nice wet look ?.
My only rant is regarding the packaging. I find the quad not to feel substantial but it seems sturdy enough to travel with it.
I just recently tried Linda Hallberg Cosmetics. I got the Enchanted Secrets palette and the set of Mood Crayons. I am so in love with the crayons! I think they are the best liners I have tried.
I’ve also never heard of this brand but for the price (which here in Canada would be even more outrageous), I’ll pass and stick with the dupes I have. As much as I really do like shimmer, this seems like too much shimmer and I’d have to supplement with another shadow or quad for a wearable look.
I’ve been eyeing Linda Hallberg’s duochrome palette but the price seems to be way too high for a quad only. So I don’t think I will be buying unless there is a major sale.
These shades are pretty but I have them all in other palettes. Also I wouldn’t get any use out of the white shade.
Yes! I’m so happy to see you reviewing Linda Hallberg Cosmetics. I’ve been wanting to try her stuff for so long and It’s nice to see you testing it out.
