What was the last limited edition product you used up and had to replace?

What was the last limited edition product you used up and had to replace? (Or discontinued product!) What did you replace it with? Share!

Used up… what’s this used up thing you speak of… Guerlain discontinued Parure Gold (at least here in the U.S.), so now I just opt for Giorgio Armani Maestro or Guerlain’s Parure de Lumiere or Lingerie de Peau – I am lucky that at this point, I don’t need as much coverage as Parure Gold gave, so the other foundations work well instead.

Lol “what’s this used up thing…” I used up a Too Faced eyeshadow duo in Boy Toy. I had a backup, but it had a tragic fall on tile a few weeks after I opened it. It was a makeup tragedy, lol. The light half of that duo was my favorite shade of pink. I tried a few different things and Too Faced Exotic Color in Mushroom ended up my new fave, but I miss Boy Toy dearly. And Exotic Color singles aren’t available everywhere anymore, so I’m afraid that being phased out too 🙁

The color “oat” in Bobbi Brown’s first warm, Smokey palette. I wrote to the company numerous times asking if they would make it permanent. I was always referred to other permanent colors in the line that were very different. Its a basic warm toned beigey, yellow taupe, but it was the perfect shade for my crease for a casual daytime look, and the look could always be deepened for nightime. I have since found similar colors on my own in my collection; a beauty supply store large pan eye shadow #215 that was introduced to me by a MA to use on my pink skin as a brown toned blush. The taupe prevented the undertones in my skin from turning the blush orange, a problem that I was having all the time until I better understood my skin tone. The color is similar to MAC’s kid or omega, and close to the contour powder Sculpt. I use it daily for contour, blush and eye shadow. The third color in Clinique’s old palette Teddy Bear, is also very close. Gotta hand it to palettes, it was a dull looking color that I never would have picked up on my own, they do give us the opportunity to step out of our comfort zone, with both great and disastrous results! No pain, no gain!

My first (and most loved) MAC lipglass was True Babe. I loved the color, the lack of glitter, and opacity of it. I had finished that in 2012 and I think it was Pink Poodle lipglass that I bought the day it was finished. That’s the last ‘LE’ product I used up that I can think of. Oh, and 2 of my 3 tubed of the pink Lady Gaga Viva Glam lipsticks. I just end up rationing my LE products cuz I know I can’t repurchase. I’m sure that if they were permanent, I’m sure I’d being getting more use from some of my fav LE products. MAC’s Cream Soda blush, my last Lady Gaga lipstick, among others.

Lizzi Avatar

I would love it if Cream Soda was made permanent. It’s perfect for me for spring and summer. And the Honey 24/7 pencil needs to be brought back!!! I’m rationing out my last stick of that. Pure melted 24k heaven!!!

Haha the used up comment made me laugh! I used up MAC Gem of Roses lipstick a few months ago and nothing LE or discontinued since! I was using MAC’s Plumful instead but it isn’t a dupe in any way.

Brenda Avatar

LOL – Used up?? I love your comment Christine -” what’s this…you speak of” I tend to hoard my LE products. And then look for dupes in a permanent line. They only seem to get broken or lost, not used up.

I almost cried – I think I screamed – when my two year old smushed all but 1/2 inch of my Heatherette Lollipop lovin’. I dropped my Liberty of London Shell Pearl Beauty Powder and it broke into about 5 pieces with bits falling out – it’s a delicate operation to use now but I can’t part with it.

Andrea Avatar

I havent been able of replacing it at all. Have looked for all over and found no dupe for it. Was the most beaitiful metallic soft taupe ever. I have an obsession with Taupes, and that was just like a whisper of light an color…. Just amazin, so if anybody knows of a dupe for that beauty, I will be forever grateful… Im still crying over it.
There was also a lip gloss? From Mac. Came in a flat pot… I bought 3 cause knew was a LE (in 2005)… Eventually ran out. Used up the 3 of them. Was like a raspberry color? A dark raspberry? So so so pretty. Bought it at the LAX airport and then bought 2 back ups god knows were. I went to every single Mac store till I found them. Im insane.

Andrea Avatar

Ok, was a lip Glitz from the Ornamentalism collection of 2005. The color was Embellished, a beauuuuuuutiful blackened red with red glitter. Gosh how I wore that to death! That whole collection was just stunning. I wish I could get my hands on it back again. :’-(

Danielle Avatar

I really have no idea! I don’t use up products too often, and when I do they are usually permanent items that I use on a daily basis (like concealer, mascara, etc).

Veronica Avatar

MAC Blow Dry lipstick… Perfect glowy coral pink on me. So, so pretty… Also MAC Lovey Dove Slimshine. I knew Blow Dry was LE, but Lovey Dove was permanent, and then they discontinued them and When I realized this, I couldn’t find any backups.

So I keep both used up lipsticks in the hopes that they will either come back someday or I will send them off to Three Custom Color to have them recreated.

Nicole Avatar

It was not a LE product, but a discontinued Bobbi Brown foundation I bought about 3 years ago. Right now I use Nars Sheer Glow foundation, a Georgio Armini one failed.

I’m nearing the end of my Urban Decay Shadow sticks, and since they are discontinued, I switch between shadow sticks from Milani, MUFE, UD, and most recently Tarte.

I’m currently on my second Revlon Colorstay Liptint in Sheer Petal. It has to be 20 years old at least!! I bought 2 of these when they were being discontinued and used up one fairly quickly and only in the past year dug out my backup to use. It doesn’t smell “off” at all and has an SPF which is perfect for summer.

Jenn Avatar

I didn’t use them up, but a lot of my LEs were stolen when I flew on United Airlines.More so I had discontinued items used up. (Trying to think…) Probably Peter Thomas Roth’s Uber Dry sunscreen, loved it.
Also I think there’s still Parure Gold in Australia. I’m about to head down there to probably grab a few things. Hopefully there is the Blanc de Pearle line in DFS Sydney.

Deborah Avatar

I don’t purchase ‘limited edition’ cosmetics – if I fall in love with something then before you know it – it’s gone! : (

BethIndigo Avatar

Leisuretime eye shadow by MAC. It came in the prettiest copper packaging. Sigh. Last Call by Urban Decay is the closest I have found but it isn’t the same. I use it so sparingly and it’s nearly all gone. 🙁

Veronica Avatar

I don’t own an extensive amount of LE products, but I will say I’ve used up a good half of my tube of Bobbi Brown Black Pearl gloss. I’ll be sad when that’s gone. (I’ve almost wiped out Bronzed Heather, as well, but at least that’s permanent!) I’m still kicking myself for not picking up an extra tube when I found it at a discount cosmetics store in an outlet mall.

Jan Kelley Avatar

I used up MAC, LE lustre lipstick in Myself. It was a sad day. It was a color similar to Serge Lutens color, mauve de swan.

Grace Avatar

Aw my question!

My MAC Flower Fantasy pearlmatte blush smashed on a recent trip and it was my favorite subtle blush. I used it as an excuse to buy both Alluring Aquatic blushes but they aren’t really dupes. I do love Seduced at Sea though, and the packaging is adorable!

Shelley Avatar

“Used up… what’s this used up thing you speak of” Maybe I’m slap happy/sleep deprived but that made me laugh so hard. I don’t think I’ve ever used up something LE either. That doesn’t stop me for hunting for dupes of my favorites so I end up with about 10 items that are almost the same as the original item. Yay! product junkies-r-us!

I used up my Forever Marilyn Beauty Powder, which I use everyday to set my Undereye concealer. I was without if for a few weeks…trying all kinds of different things in my stash and nothing compared! Then the MAC Maleficent collection came out and the beauty powder from that was so similar that I picked up 2!! That should last me for another year or 2! I wonder if they will repromote the Marilyn collection again…I would say probably not because it’s already come out 2 times. Crossing my finges for a third!!

Chanel le vernis #637Malice, I bought two bottles and one is almost empty. When both of them will be over it would be quite sad…

Ana Avatar

I actually used and replaced a few products…Bronzing powder in Bronze, Matchmaster foundation, Shroom eyeshadow, Viva Glam V and Studio Moisture tint (all MAC), Maybelline Collosal mascara as well!!

Verladesh Gilles Avatar

My MAC Wonder Woman blush/highlighter/bronzer compact in Golden Lariat. As for my lipsticks I dont cry over them anymore beacause I have them reproduced if I really liked the color. Sure, it won’t have the cute packaging, but its the color I want.

Di Avatar

I loved Lancome Fatale mascara. It is discontinued sadly and i can’t finn anything close:((
Lancome Star mascara is okey maybe but not as good:( It dries soo quickly and all of the high end mascaras that i’ve bought, i wonder why..
If anyone has an idea i am willing to try. If it is sold in Turkey of course:)

Anitacska Avatar

I’m the same with Parure Aqua. Have just run out of my winter shade (02), but still have a bottle of my summer shade (03) luckily. After that no more. 🙁 Sadly I don’t really like Parure de Lumiere or Lingerie de Peu. Also the pressed Meteorites compacts, I’m just using the last bit of my Beige Teint one. Argh!

Lena Avatar

I asked Guerlain France and they do not have plans to discontinue Parure Gold yet. I still see them in counters all over Asia, and online like strawberrynet.com (free shipping!)

The last LE product I used up was MAC Ever Hip lipstick from the Liberty London collection. Really bummed I missed the re-promote last year (or was it couple of years ago)…

Quinctia Avatar

…I think my SISTER used up the Darkhorse and Maui Wowie pans in the Rollergirl palette I bought her.

I’ve used over half of my tube of Midnight Cowboy lipstick. That’s been discontinued, but I’m not rationing it. I just haven’t put it in my new purse, so I haven’t used it as much as I used to!

nicole Avatar

My precious Chanel polish, Jade. I wear it once, maybe twice a year. I have all the dupes, some very pretty (must have Cult Nails new mint). But I hate it when they re-promote LEs! Eastern Light in their most recent collection was part of a Spring “LE” duo, what gives?
