Purple Onyx (07)

Lancome Purple Onyx (07) Le Metallique Metallic Lip Lacquer ($22.00 for 0.10 fl. oz.) is a blackened plum with fine gold, violet, and burgundy pearl. It had semi-opaque color coverage, but it did not apply well–it was uneven and all of the color pooled into my lip lines. The gloss still had a tackier, thicker texture, though it was long-wearing at five and a half hours. It was hydrating and comfortable to wear, at least.

The Le Metallique formula is supposed to have “full-coverage” with a “rich, creamy texture” that is hydrating and long-wearing. First and foremost, if you do not like tacky gloss, you’ll want to stay far away from these; the formula is very tacky and is a thicker, denser formula. They are longer wearing as a result, though, and most shades fell within four to six hours of wear for me and retain a really high-shine, high-gloss finish that almost looks wet and lasts throughout the wear time. Most shades were semi-opaque to opaque, but as the formula was thicker, I would hesitate to add more product to get more coverage. They seemed to have no discernible scent or taste to me.

Cuivre Casting (08)

Lancome Cuivre Casting (08) Le Metallique Metallic Lip Lacquer ($22.00 for 0.10 fl. oz.) is a deep copper with warm, brown and red undertones and gold and copper pearl. It had semi-opaque pigmentation, which went on fairly evenly, though some of the color still found its way into my lip lines and made them appear darker. The texture was light-medium in weight, very tacky, but it had an incredibly high-shine finish that looked wet on. This shade wore well for six hours and was moisturizing while worn.

Mirrored Nude (09)

Lancome Mirrored Nude (09) Le Metallique Metallic Lip Lacquer ($22.00 for 0.10 fl. oz.) is a light-medium champagne beige with warm undertones paired with gold, pink, and peach pearl. It had semi-opaque color payoff with a smooth, tacky, and light-medium weight texture. It smoothed over the lips easily, and while the gloss applied evenly, some color settled into my lip lines. The gloss stayed on well for five hours and was moisturizing.

Christine,
I hope this doesn’t come across wrong. Just writing that immediately makes it serious when it really isn’t.
I’ve noticed recently that the tails of your brows are disappearing. You were born with full, gorgeous brows, the kind that almost all women wish they had.
I would never critique a physical feature that you were born with. The only reason I decided to comment on your brows is because it’s very easy to make mistakes with brow plucking. I was in the same boat myself for a while.
I think the reason it happened to me, and to so many, is that you overpluck trying to make both match, when most pairs of brows are asymmetrical. Also, over the years, brows get a little sparser so you pluck away any areas that aren’t neat. It’s usually the bottom of the tails that get more sparse, which is why you see many women with skinny tails and some completely lose their brow tails.
I finally realized that brows don’t have to match perfectly to look good. And they don’t need to be waxed to perfection either. Because over time I was losing the tails of my brows. So I’d rather have full, natural brows that aren’t perfect than no tails. And if there’s an area that is not neat, instead of plucking those hairs that gave my brows fullness, I can just fill in that spot with brow pencil, or powder.
I wanted to tell you this because I thought it might be of help. I’m just suggesting that you grow in your brow tails because it would be a shame to lose your full brows. Also, they’d look more balanced if the tails were a little thicker since the front part is a lot fuller.
I truly hope this wasn’t offensive. And if it is, please just erase my comment.

Thank for your concern, but I’m actually quite happy with the shape and thinness/thickness of my brows! I understand that you may prefer me with a different brow style, shape, or how they’re filled-in, but I do feel that it is best to apply makeup to please oneself and not others 🙂 I actually don’t see them or feel like they are thinning, but I don’t fill in the tail of my brows in as much as I used to so they appear softer, which is how I prefer them presently.

Christine, I know my comment may appear as if I think people should apply makeup to please others, but I actually agree with you that you should do it to please yourself. If you’re happy with your brows then that’s all that matters.
I genuinely only mentioned it because like I said, they’re tricky and it’s very easy to over correct and lose too much brow hairs.
I did notice that you’re filling them in softer which looks really nice. It’s just my opinion because like you pointed out, we all have our makeup preferences. 😉

Essence also has a dupe for that shade and if I’m not mistaken it’s $3. Sorry the label is missing so I can’t give you the name.

Wow, Cuivre Casting looks stunning on you. It is a beautiful color. I don’t wear lip glosses very often so not really interested in any of these but can’t get over how pretty that gloss looks on you.

Definitely fallen for Cuivre Casting here! Looks so warm and toasty that I wish it was already in my stash for today, perfect for another gloomy day, LoL.

I’m also loving Mirrored Nude, as this is the only way I can get away with wearing lighter nude shades; there has to be shimmer and a glossy finish, otherwise it looks horrid on me.

Cuivre Casting is such a stunning shade!
I’m disappointed about Purple Onyx, it was the shade I was eyeing the most. On the full face picture the fact that it emphasizes lip lines is really not very visible though, do you think it could work on top of a lip liner or lipstick in a similar shade?

Mirrored Nude would be a great topper. I have Bobbi Brown Bare Sparkle and one of Buxom’s shimmery nudes, so I probably don’t ‘need’ it, but we’ll see. Love that these are moisturizing.

I hope someone else comes out with a similar, but non-tacky and overall better-performing, formula this spring. I’m finding the idea of modern metallics to be a refreshing change from the ultra-matte look that’s been so popular 🙂
