Kat Von D Wonderchilde Studded Kiss Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as an “iridescent neon lilac.” It’s a brightened, medium-dark fuchsia-leaning purple with lighter violet and lavender sparkle and shimmer. It had more of a frosted, slightly metallic, finish. This isn’t like Kat Von D L.U.V. (P, $21.00), which has a matte finish. Too Faced Lollipop (P, $22.00) is more fuchsia, glossier. Milani Violet Volt (P, $5.49) is pinker. MAC Violetta (P, $16.00) is darker, pinker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
After testing several of the mattes and having little luck, I thought I’d try one of the more shimmery shades I bought to change it up. Wonderchilde is definitely better, but it’s not a knock-your-socks-off shade like Poe. It had semi-opaque color coverage that went on evenly, as the consistency was lightly creamy, on the thin side (so lightweight), and was fairly comfortable to wear. It didn’t drag or tug at the lips much, and it lasted for six hours when worn without being drying. It has a creme brulee scent but no discernible taste.

That colour looks amazing on you. I have bought this one and I am still trying to be brave enough to wear it outside 😀
You can do it!
Try layering a more wearable pink gloss on top, until you feel more comfortable. Or, if you have a car, get in and just drive around for a bit, go to a mall (or other public place) and just walk around for a while-see what kind of reactions you get!
What a disappointment this line is turning out to be! Pity too. It’s nice when less-mainstream colors get more accessible!

I like this one. love the bluish shimmer, but wish it was better. I have MAC violetta which has been getting heavy wear from me this summer. Hmm..maybe layered over Violetta…

I bought this lipstick last week, I find that it behaves a lot better when you layer it with something like a lip balm. I love the look of Poe, but this lippie is a million times more wearable.

What a fun color! Too bad it had so many issues. I love the new packaging, but the formula seems to be off for me. I get drying and tugging and overall wrecked lips with the new KVD lippies,
They don’t dry out my lips too badly (which a surprise, because some of them feel quite dry going on), but so many application issues. Worse is even when application is OK, where is the pigment in this shade?
I’m lusting. I have several (Bauhau5, Bachelorette, Les Ecoles des femmes) but I need this shimmer. I wonder how it compares to Stila’s Gemma….

They’re dry but the ones I bought are really nice – The ecole one is a little lip line-y after a bit, but the other two are honestly great! I lucked out with shade selection I think. I (stupidly) have those shades in the liquid lip colors so knew I would like the shades. I still have hope for some of these!

This collection is so all-over-the-place, when it comes to quality. Echo your sentiments about the black should have been signature + great. We kind of expect kat to rule on the ‘offbeat,’ less mainstream colors + some of these have failed abysmally (sp?), some just not lived up to expectations. makes me far more willing to shell out the extra 11 for Nars. if any of you blogger/readers have reviewed colors that Christine has not, put up your links. I’ve grown pretty mistrustful of the whole collection. and it looked pretty good in person, despite Sephora’s dreadful lighting. Did I just say that yet again?
So far, Poe has definitely been the standout for me!

Make Up For Ever rouge artist intense #15 is a better iridescent, shimmery purple than this. It’s darker and not like SPARKLY, but shimmery. It goes on a little rougher than most MUFE lipsticks (their pearls aren’t as creamy as their satins), but it’s not drying or patchy.

I totally understand, Lucia! If you don’t mind the shorter-wear (at least, based on the 10-hour claim–which is long!) or that it isn’t super pigmented, you might still like it!
I’m glad this one worked better for you. I absolutely love the color. I do wish it were a bit creamier. I use a little lip balm under the drier colors. It looks great on you (and goes nicely with your fabulous earrings!).

The bluish violet sparkle makes this quite different! Don’t think it’ll look nice on my complexion at all though :\ Good to know the formula was a little better!

I like this colour, but the rating is still kind of a shame after Poe. Don’t get me wrong, I saw the picture, and kind of scrolled down with squinted eyes, praying for it not to be an F so this score is ‘great’, but… yeah. Purple lipstick lover is mildly irked.
Mind you, I think my MUFE Rouge Artist Intense in #15 probably covers this particular base for me. I would collect it if it rated higher, but I think (for the effort in getting a hold of it), that my purple lipstick collection will see Violet Volt first! 😉
And hopefully Violet Volt is a bit more affordable, too!
What a pity on such a lovely colour. I would buy this if it was available here. I don’t want to order it from Sephora US and pay postage and quite possibly customs for it.

This is one of the ones I have and I really like it, looks really pretty on and I find the effect is difficult to photograph. Its definitely one best seen in person! I like the way it feels on too. One of my sisters wanted it immediately.
