Kat Von D Wolvesmouth Studded Kiss Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “metallic berry.” It’s a deepened, berry-red with subtle, cool undertones and a soft, metallic shimmer. Inglot #293 Lipstick Cream (P, $12.00) is glossier, no shimmer. Bite Beauty Bordeaux (P, $28.00) is darker, no shimmer. Illamasqua Shard (P, $24.00) has less shimmer. Urban Decay Venom (P, $22.00) is brighter. Milani Chilled Brandy (P, $5.49) is much warmer. Make Up For Ever #13 (P, $19.00) is slightly warmer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

The Studded Kiss formula boasts 10-hour wear with “one-swipe payoff” that “leaves lips supple.” Wolvesmouth has mostly opaque color coverage, but the natural lip color will come through slightly. The consistency was thin, lightweight, a little clingy, and applied with only a little drag/tugging–but at least the color went on fairly evenly. On me, the color wore well for seven hours, and the formula was somewhat drying over time. It had a sweet, creme brulee scent but no discernible taste.

I’ve almost purchased this three times now but something keeps holding me back. I love his the swatch looks on my hand – it looks so unique and complex, but I try it on my lips and it looks so dupable – none of the uniqueness shows up on me – it just looks like every other berry out there. It looks awesome on you though – on you I can see that uniqueness I see when swatching on my hand.

This one is a bit too “pink” for my tastes (and would probably pull even pinker on me!), but it is an overall beautiful shade. The Bite Beauty Bordeaux, however, is one I need to check out…

I got this shade and that first week I was in love with it (and Poe) but since then I find myself reaching more for my standby OCC colors than these. They’re pretty colors, and they wear pretty well in the two colors I have, but I don’t think I’ll buy more at this price point. I am kind of hoping for a Christmas season sampler like she normally releases so I can try a few more and see if I fall in love with those. Your reviews have been very helpful, and saved me a ton of money!

It is a very pretty colour.
I had Venom in my cart today, but removed it as I thought I had similar lipsticks. I guess I have to check, if I don’t I need to buy Venom. I would love to get my hands, or lips on Bite Beauty Bordeaux, it looks fantastic.
I get so inspired looking at photos here. My wallet is screaming, though 🙂

How similar do you think this finish is compared with the Metallic OCC Lip Tars? I have Black Metal Dahlia and the finish looks sort of similar based on this picture.

I really like the colour, and I’m not opposed to metallic finishes at all, but this one kind of *looks* dry, which is a real shame. I think I’ll probably stick with Venom, which I have and LOVE. Now that I’m thinking about it, I might see if I can semi-dupe the effect by tapping a little metallic berry eyeshadow on top of Venom the next time I wear it…
