Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix Palette for Holiday 2015

Last night, Kat Von D Beauty posted a preview of the Mi Vida Loca Remix eyeshadow palette that is slated for holiday 2015 (it really is Christmas in July, I suppose!). I don’t have any additional details other than what was shared by the brand on their Instagram. There are 24 shades in an assortment of colors, as well as seven neutrals to anchor the pops of color.

The layout may be different, but from what I can tell from other photos I’ve seen, the palette itself looks to be the same size/dimensions as all the other larger palettes-which is quite conducive for those of us who are longtime fans, and actually have other palettes, as storage is easier.

Kas Avatar

While yes her palettes are usually minimalist this one does have the inspiration behind it. It’s inspired by a vinyl record shape.

Chrissy Avatar

I really want this! I think the only thing that bugs me is that there are 4 shades of blue, and 2 or 3 of the rest. But that’s me being nitpicky.

Allison Avatar

I think I might need to get this one!!! I love the layout and how it looks like a color wheel. It’s very visually appealing and it has a lot of colors in it that I don’t already own. I just hope they swatch and perform better than her studded palette from the last holiday season!! Christmas just keeps getting earlier and earlier each year! lol

xamyx Avatar

I don’t see any resemblance between this & the original Mi Vida Loca palette (which was all pastels, and one of the few KvD palettes I never bothered with), but I think I really need this one. Even if I only use the reds, purples, & neutrals, it’ll be worth it!

StrangeOne Avatar

My lust factor is all dependent on price and swatches. I never got into the electric palatte but this is a bit tempting.

I seriously debated “loving or leaving” as this seems to have a lot of shades I can’t see myself wearing every, at all, period. But then when I realized that it’s arranged like a colour wheel, I was won over since it’s an easy business to find complementary and analogous colours (for you eyes or clothing) – I mean, this is sort of a basic colour wheel made of EYESHADOW! How great is that??? And there are those lovely neutral in the middle. It looks a bit large and awkward and I don’t know if I’d actually use it much but I’m delighted by the concept.

Sarah Avatar

Hopefully it performs better than her last holiday palette. The packaging is gorgeous but looks very unwieldy if it just slides out like that. I’ll be interested to see whether the brights are eye safe too!

Melissa Avatar

Totally agree!! Last years Star Studded palette was a bust which was so disappointing as the colors were beautiful! Fingers are crossed for this one BUT…I will wait til I can swatch it in the store instead of closing my office door so as to not be disturbed while I bought it on the day it launced last year.

femputer Avatar

that looks really cool, but when I see that circular design I think, ‘wow, someone will have to photograph all those colors and then rotate the pictures so they appear straight! poor temptalia!’ lol XD

Katherine T. Avatar

I love the looks of this!! Great mix of color with a few neutrals in there. This looks like it would be so fun to play with. Hope it performs well and is reasonably priced

Sarah Avatar

Love the colors, love the idea. The packaging? A BIG FAT NO. It looks huge, there’s so much extra space (and for what????), and that whole “open but fits into a sleeve thing” is just idiotic. Give it a magnetic flip top, slap a mirror in that thing, and call it a day. I actually would have bought it if the packaging didn’t ensure that I couldn’t fit in my vanity drawers.

xamyx Avatar

From what I’ve seen, it looks to be the same size/dimensions as all of her other Holiday palettes, so for those of us who are already actual fans of the brand as a whole, and have other palettes, the size of this palette is welcome, as we can easily store them all together-regardless of “wasted space”. The pans are the same size/shape as in previous palettes, the layout is just different, giving the illusion of space.

I do agree on the lid/mirror aspect, and I hope this at least has the heavy, plastic film attached, like in the other palettes…

Sarah Avatar

I guess my issue in particular with this one is that the other palettes, while large, had tons of eyeshadow; so, IMO, the size could be justified, though I still ultimately passed on them. With this, it just feels unneeded. Someone said that it was inspired by a vinyl record. Like the phasing out of vinyl records, companies don’t make eyeshadows in stupid shapes for a reason: it’s annoying, and the customer is the person who ends up getting jipped.

Bea Avatar

Oh WOW I love this!! Time to start saving for Christmas apparently… Lol. I like the balance of mattes to shimmers, I hope these perform well like the rest of her shadows. I wish there were one less blue, but I’ll take it! (Also thinking of creative ways to depot this so I can store it securely..)

Chelle Avatar

I’m so excited for this. As someone who regularly wears bright shadows, I often struggle bringing a bright palette on vacation – because they never EVER have any neutrals in them so you end up having to bring two palettes instead. (Or give up and just bring a neutral one.) You can’t make an eye look solely out of brights, you need balancing colours! So for me, this is going to FINALLY be the ultimate travel palette. It’s got all the brights I want as well as enough neutrals to even out a look.

So very, VERY excited for this release! The layout of the shadows is awkward, but hey, I don’t care!

zVintageFashionizta Avatar

WOW, that palette looks gorgeous! I hope that some of those shades of blue are matte…. I hope it has a lot of mattes.

Aj Avatar

This is at the top of my list for sure. KVD shadows are pigmented and blendable. The shade range is to die for also! I love that she made this packaging to resemble a record.

Zoe Avatar

Knowing KVD’s mixed quality with their eyeshadow formula, this is more curious than exciting, for me. Otherwise, the color selection is very nice.
Also, negative points for an inefficient palette layout.

erin Avatar

The colors look gorgeous, but i know her eyeshadow formula has been spotty in the past. Will wait for review/swatches to show up online. Plus it looks super inefficiently packaged, but i get the inspiration being a color wheel.

Lacy Avatar

After what seems like a lifetime of neutral palettes (Chocolate Bar, Tartlette, Shade&Light, Cool Neutral, Warm Neutral, Natural Matte, Ombre Nudes, etc….) This is a welcome sight. I have been wanting another colorful palette beyond the Electric Palette from UD. I love that this one focuses on primary colors. Although, this does not seem to be a great use of space, I understad the vinyl/record concept. I am SO excited for this, and cannot wait to see a review and swatches from you Christine. Let’s hope it performs far better than last years holiday palette.

Cindy Avatar

This is the first eye shadow palette that I’ve been excited about in a very long time. I love the variety of colors and the layout it’s very beautiful and colorful. I was getting so tired or the neutral palettes.

Rachel R. Avatar

Dear Makeup Goddess, please let this formula be her regular eyeshadow formula. Please do not let this be a repeat of the Star Studded palette. Thank you. Amen.

I love, love, love the colors in this. I’m hoping a couple of those blues are more turquoise or teal, though. It’s nice there are some basic neutrals to ground the brights, use as highlights, etc. I like the packaging. I don’t care whether the wheel formation is inefficient or not: It’s unique and looks great. It’s like a remix single, from the oldie time days when we had record players, and dinosaurs roamed the earth.

Maggie Avatar

Wow–a color wheel in a vinyl record-inspired packaging! It’s kind of perfect for Kat Von D–since many of her palettes are musically named.

IRockFaces Avatar

I need this! I need this! Did I say I need this? lol I have been waiting for a palette like this so I wouldn’t have to make my own version with a mac palette or have to buy all single shadows instead. Please don’t let this be limited edition. I really need this like ASAP!

Jude Avatar

So, I’ll be buying this palette whether I need it or not! Like a few others, I would have loved to see another yellow on there as opposed to four blues, but those blues do look so, so good! Using the colour wheel for a palette is absolutely inspired. It’s unique and original, which seems to be getting harder to find in palettes these days. One brand brings a neutrals palette out, and the next thing you know, that’s all you see in makeup shops for months.

I get it’s down to success, and doesn’t every brand want successful products? Yet there comes a point where you’re surrounded by neutrals, and all you want is a bright. Sure, there’s the Electric palette, and while that palette is one of my favourites, there are only eight colours in there. The dupes are just that. Dupes and have the same shades, so no point in buying them.

Kat Von D has pretty much made my year with this palette! It’s exactly what I’ve been waiting for, and who knows?! I may even buy two of ’em 😀

Cat Avatar

As beautiful and tempting as this palette is, I know I would only use four or five of the colors. I’m not counting the neutrals, as I don’t need any more matte (as they appear to be) neutrals. Both the palette and the packaging are certainly visually appealing. Sigh…

On another topic, when you posted the swatches of the Sephora Sunbleached palette, someone asked you which of the colors in the palette you were wearing. I have tried to find a post where you mentioned having used that palette but I haven’t found one… so I’m confused. Did I miss something?

Nicole Avatar

At first I thought I didn’t like this, but I started thinking about the KVD palettes that I do own and I honestly love them. I’d say I reach for them most second to my MUFE a palettes which are quite a bit more pricey. This has a ton of colors I don’t own. I hope it reviews well. If so, I’m getting it. I love the packaging .

Candice Avatar

Can’t believe Holiday info is coming out already! Has summer even started?? The idea for this palette is so cool from the colour wheel to the vinyl record inspiration.

HeavyMetalJess Avatar

I am salivating! Finally a colorful palette! True red, orange, and yellow? Be still my beating heart! Not many purples. This would normally make me sad but Urban Decay has put out so many purples lately that I’m fully stocked and not at all disappointed there was more room for other shades.
