Illamasqua Succubus Intense Lipgloss Review, Photos, Swatches

Illamasqua Succubus Intense Lipgloss (£13.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a near-true red with a glossy finish and almost opaque color coverage. Illamasqua describes this shade as a “blood red,” and I can definitely see it. On me, it seems to pull just the tiniest bit orange-red, but it seems to be the result of my yellower undertones (even blue-reds can sometimes look orange-toned once I wear them). In comparison to other Intense Lipglosses, Succubus seems a touch on the sheerer side but still rather pigmented.

my thoughts on the formula: Illamasqua Intense Lipglosses are color-rich glosses that have the feeling and finish of a gloss but the color pay off of an opaque lipstick. The formula itself is non-sticky, though a little thick, and doesn’t dry lips out at all. I usually get around four hours of wear or so.

Is Illamasque a UK brand? (I’ve never seen it here)
OR does Temptalia.com know which country I’m in right now and adjust itself?
Either way – cool 🙂

WOW Christine, this looks absolutely gorgeous on you!

How would you compare it to Chanel’s Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in Exces? It’s the only red gloss that I have at the moment and I really love it but I’m always looking for the new great ones…:-)

That looks great on you! I was just wondering if you applied it using the applicator on the lipgloss or if you used a lip brush. Thank you so much!

Wow! What a great patent-leather shine! I love the illamasqua intense lipglosses, but wish they came with a doe foot or brush applicator, it’s rather inconvenient to have to use one’s fingers. :/

It’s too bad they aren’t releasing this in the US. I’m not too hot on paying for it in GBP and then paying high shipping on top of that. The nail polishes in this collection looked really nice, too.

Wow, that is very glossy! Are those tiny black glitters in the gloss that I see?
But I already have a pigmented blood red lipgloss so I’ll pass.

WOW!…..BTW, did you keep the camera settings where you made a mistake and took pics anyway? I think it was for some of the Wonder Woman lippies. Or are you using your old settings?

What about the scent?
I have one illamasqua intense lipgloss (move) and it has a fruity scent that I almost gives me headaches, ouch!
I’ve been thinking to get this one since it was launched but the scent worries me (and I can’t buy it in store).

as soon as I saw this latest ad campaign, I was mesmerized by this red! I’ve been on the lookout for “the perfect red” for almost a year and this came as close to perfect as I can get! It lasts even longer when you use the new red lipstick with it (the name escapes me now). It’s amazing how universal it is. I’m very very fair with cool underdones and it looks great on me and it looks stunning with your coloring too. love it!

I didn’t buy this gloss but I did by the lipstick called Sangers, only because I walked into the Illamasqua shop in London and asked them what red lipstick did they recommend for my skintone, and the MUA in there said ‘The new one called Sangers’. I did try it on in the shop with my own MAC Mahogany lip pencil, which is one of my faves, and it was perfect.

I bought the Sangers lipstick and wore the lipstick all day and got nothing but good glances from men and women, double takes, and a lot of respect.

Thanks for posting! I’ve been debating getting the lipstick and gloss from this collection, but I really needed swatches and pictures to decide if I want to invest my money.

I don’t know why but for a lipstick hoarding person such as me, I’ve been getting into lip glosses slowly again mind you, I prefer to wear just a tad of lip gloss over lipstick only, I don’t have my lips dripping with gloss all over.

I started out recently buy getting into MAC lipglasses, especially after their Flesh lipglass from the Mickey Contractor collection, but now I have to declare Illamasqua’s glosses as probably the best I’ve ever seen yet.

I love the Illamasqua lip glosses’ packaging, squeezable, although it seems as though it might be quite a tight squeeze getting the last drop of gloss out but I love its wandless, applicator tips too. Plus they are less stickier than MAC lipglasses, especially the Illamasqua clear gloss called Brilliant.

But I tried on one intense gloss by Illamasqua and its color and some of the shine lasted about 75% through potato chips and coffee and candy (I sound like the biggest fattie, and I’m not but I’m getting there LOL) I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before, which didn’t really bother me though!

I think I have to go back and buy the Brilliant gloss, which is clear, to go over my Disciple lipstick as I don’t think I’d like to wear it without gloss, and the Fierce gloss, which is one of their Intense glosses. Fierce gloss is the only gloss I’d consider wearing these days without any lipstick or lip pencil underneath I think.

I did try on Fierce gloss over the Disciple lipstick but I wondered if it was lightening up the blue in Disciple a little bit, or making it look too shiny? I dunno…we’ll see.
