Illamasqua Toxic Nature Collection: Radium

Illamasqua Radium Nail Varnish (£13.50 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as an “acidic lime, shimmer finish” shade, which is new for the Toxic Nature collection. It’s a beautiful neon chartreuse green with yellow undertones and iridescent green and chartreuse micro-shimmer. Though currently only available through Illamasqua directly, it should make its way to Sephora next month.

my thoughts on the formula: Illamasqua’s formula is richly pigmented, smooth, and easy to apply. It’s a thicker formula but not gloppy. I did notice very slight brush strokes in the finish under really bright light. Radium is almost opaque in one coat, though I swatched with two for good measure. I get a full week of wear with Illamasqua Nail Varnishes with minimal tip wear and no chips.

Is this a recent release? I should think it is pretty insensitive to come out with a colour called Radium so close after Japan’s disasters.

Elaine Avatar

Radium is an element and a city. Japan’s nuclear disasters are with radioactive iodine and plutonium. I don’t think it’s insensitive whatsoever…

2nd, the word “Radium” has absolutely nothing to do with Japan…at all. I have no idea how some people take everything so sensitively.

I usually don’t like neons and brights for nail polish, but for some reason this is really working for me! It’s surprisingly flattering for a chartreuse, too, since I often think these yellow-green colors make one’s skin look dingy. I think it’s that shimmer finish that really does it for me 🙂

As soon as I saw it I thought of Mitzi, but I don’t know which one I like better! I wish I knew someone who was into these sorts of shades so I could talk them into buying it and then try it out ^.^

I can’t wait to pick this and Bacterium up in April. They will be my first Illamasqua purchase, and I am so excited. I am gonna rock so much acid green this summer, lol.

This is an awesome color. I remember either Hard Candy or Urban Decay had a similar color back in the 1990s which of course I loved. I will definitely be getting this!

I swear I’ve been having dreams about this lipstick since I first saw it on the Illamasqua web site. Thank you for confirming everything I’d imagined about it! I do hope I can find a way to get this, since Sephora in Canada doesn’t carry Illamasqua and ordering from their web site is really costly!

I love this! I’ve been looking for a perfect chartreuse lately. I’m not sure how it will look on my NW20 skin but I still am brave enough to try 🙂 Any other chartreuse nail polish suggestions? Thanks Christine!

This question is directed to Christine, and anyone else living in the US who has ordered from http://www.illamasqua.com. How was the service, and how long did it take for them to get their merchandise? I’m always leery about ordering from little-know sites, especially from overseas.

I ordered this nail polish from the Illmasqua website. It took a couple of weeks to get here but I had no problems. Oh and I love love love the polish!
