Illamasqua Intense Lipgloss in Move Review, Photos, Swatches

Ultra Wearable, Ultra Opaque Lipgloss!

Illamasqua Move Intense Lipgloss ($19.00)  is a bit of a reprieve from some of the brighter Illamasqua glosses, yeah?   Move is a muted, played-down pink-plum.  It totally makes me think “sugar plum fairy” as a description, actually.  It’s a truly opaque gloss that completely covers my natural lip color and really works on its own–it doesn’t take on the characteristics of my natural lip color at all.

Intense Lipglosses are amazing for the gloss addict who struggles with the multitude of sheer glosses on the market.  They’re so rich and pigmented, so they’re great worn alone for color, but you don’t have to worry about layering a gloss on top to achieve the glossy finish.  They’re scent-and taste-free, which makes them good for those with more sensitive senses, too!   Oh, and they’re non-sticky, too.  Not super thick but not featherweight either–it’s smooth, thin enough to move around, but not so thin it slips around.

The packaging is so-so — it’s a squeeze tube with a slanted tip for application.  I think a wand applicator may have been more appropriate, just because you could really get some precision with it, since this isn’t a product you can be loose with!  It’s slim, though, which makes it convenient to stash in purses or makeup bags.  Each tube contains plenty of product, and you really don’t need much to get full color-coverage, either, which is nice.

I’ve found that I get quite a bit of wear out of these, too.  The glossiness does fade after two hours or so, but the color itself works hard for four to six hours, sometimes longer.

They feel so, so different compared to lip tars, and they don’t have the funny taste that I experienced with Lip Tars. I don’t know – I can see why the comparison is brought up, but once it’s on your lips, it doesn’t feel like Lip Tars do – it’s thicker, lighter weight, never drying, glossy.

wow this shade looks very different on you than it does on me! almost like a different color altogether. very pretty though. do you have a fave out of the intense glosses you’ve tried?

i personally prefer the squeeze tube rather to wands — it’s easier to keep it clean/sanitized, and you can apply with a separate lip brush anyway for more precision.

the part i don’t like is the text for the shade names, because they rub off in about five seconds! there has to be a better way…

What does it look like on you?

I don’t know if I have a favorite, to be honest! Maybe Frenzy?

Hmm, if you use the applicator, doesn’t contamination still happen just as much, since it’s left on the applicator, capped, and bacteria can move right on inside? It doesn’t seem any more or less sanitary than a wand unless you only use a brush (but the same would be true with a wand gloss then!). That’s what I always thought, at least!

Just got a couple of these recently: Fume and Galactic. Do you have Galactic? It has to be one of the most useful yet fun makeup purchases I’ve ever made, I’ve worn it every day this week.

For some reason this reminds me of Splashing lipglass from MAC. How would you compare them? How do you think this would look on dark skin and which ones(out of the illamasqua intense lipgloss) do you think would look the best on dark skin. Btw I am 17 and an NC45 😉

This looks different on me too. It’s darker with a stronger mauve/plum shade…ok it looks darker because I have a lighter skintone but it still is very different.
Oh and mine does have scent/taste, some kind of berry scent, very strong and “fake”…it does bother me a bit.

I got mine at Selfridges a few months before you did this review so maybe they changed it? I hope so because I’m looking forward to trying fierce.
