How do you spot conceal?

I usually dab a wee bit wherever I’m trying to spot conceal and then use my foundation brush (usually a Real Techniques Expert Face brush) and gently tap against my skin so I don’t lose too much cover but can blur the edges. I sometimes use a synthetic, cream eyeshadow brush (small, a little fluffy) to diffuse the edges of an area.

I really only have hyperpigmentation to conceal so I usually begin by putting concealer on the area to be covered and I let it sit on the skin for a little bit, like 30 seconds to a minute. Then I take a finger and tap on the area gently just to move the product over the area and then I will diffuse the area around the hyperpigmentation with a small brush, just tapping to blend it out. If I blend out too much of the product and lose some of the coverage then I will add a little more and tap lightly. Then I set with a powder. I apply the powder in a tapping motion rather than swiping and moving the product.

I use MAC Studio Finish Concealer with a tiny concealer brush from elf. I let it set for a few minutes. Them I buff it in with a fluffy concealer from elf. Diffuse edges a bit without trying to erase coverage.

Depends on the type of spot: I get these red no head tiny pimples that appear and hang around for a 3 or 4 days on my face. I probably do my routine backwards as I spot conceal after foundation using IT cosmetics bye bye redness. It’s darker than my skin, but lighter concealers make spots more obvious. I scoop a bit out of the jar onto the back of my hand and use a fine brush to apply. I tend to tap it down with my finger after it has dried down a touch and then powder with the tip of damp sponge, lightly brush off excess.. I’m olive skinned so BBR does not glaringly stand out against my complexion and I don’t have much in the way of acne.

My approach is much more primitive — I shall learn and adopt a lot from your and others’ postings — I just dab on some concealer, let it dry a little bit so it’s thicker, and then gently pat a little to blur edges.

I usually apply foundation first to see how much coverage I already have without adding any additional product. I dab a bit of concealer on my finger and gently dab some on the area of concern (just a couple on my face total) and then repeat if necessary. I just use my fingers….they provide the gentleness without disturbing any foundation surrounding the area of concern.

I hardly use them but if I need to I apply it in my fingers to let melt a bit then pat it in area followed by foundation. Same with under eye concealer. I need to learn better tips from you girls.

I’m pretty lucky in that I don’t usually have spots to conceal. Usually the issue is more redness which is more about using a higher coverage concealer in certain areas. I generally don’t bother with spot concealing anyways, as I find on my dry skin it draws more attention to it, and after all, it’s just a spot. We all get them, at least from time to time.

I apply concealer directly onto the spot, and then pat with my fingers until it’s blended. The warmth from the fingers softens the edges, and patting rather than rubbin prevents the concealer from being removed. Once it’s the way I want, I set with powder.

I don’t use concealer everyday, I am lucky to really not have to use it if I am using a really nice full coverage foundation. When I do, I use a small concealer brush or a sponge.

MoMerrell,

Hey, I have been looking for a decent full-coverage foundation for quite some time. Just wondered if there are any you would recommend??

I am very fair and have developed a couple of areas of some dark pigmentation on the left side of my face. So before I put on my foundation I dab on a stick of yellow concealer and pat that in diffusing it with my ring finger, then as that doesn’t quite cover it all, I take a peach colored concealer and dab that on over it and pat it over again diffusing it and that covers the dark spots. Then I can put my foundation on over it. Otherwise I just use Nudestix Fair to touch up around my nose for any redness and the outer corner of my eyes, above my eyebrows, the smile lines beside my mouth, and above my lips just to highlight a little. Man, it sounds like I do so much, but it only takes a minute!
