How do you incorporate colored eyeliner into your looks?
WITH EASE! I love colored eyeliner. I’m all about doing up the lower lash line and using it as another area to play with color, LOL. Sometimes I’ll opt for contrasting color on the lower lash line or to introduce a pop of color (like blue or teal) against neutrals.
I usually don’t wear liner (not even black) but when I do it’s a deep red wing paired with some light brown shadows. It looks great with my green eyes!
I just do! Liquid or Pencil. In place of my typical brown on the top lashline. Sometimes it’s in the same color family as the color I’m wearing. I’m wearing green eyeshadow so I’ll add an emerald green liner or it goes with my look. I’ll wear peachy tones and add a blue liner. On the rare occasion I’ll wear it on the bottom lashline for a pop of color but I don’t wear liner there usually. Or mascara on my bottom lashes. Just looks too heavy and messy imo
That’s a nice combo of peachy tones and a blue liner. I must try that myself. Which blue liner do you use?
I don’t use liners or even mascaras on my lower lash line either, as it ends up smudging and looking too heavy on me as well.
I love wearing color on the lower lash line. Often for work I wear very nuetral color on the lids and use my lower lash as the pop of color. I often wear blues, greens or purples on the lower lash line.
Much as you do, Christine – I love a teal (Sephora Surfer Babe), bright green (Sephora Good Mood) or deep, glittery purple (Sephora again – Tango Night) under my lower lashes and I’ll sometimes use the purple on my upper lids as well.
I do lower lash color eyeliner nearly every day; sometimes subtle like bronze, copper or rich brown; more often purple, blue, burgundy, pink. Nice accent for otherwise neutral eye look that’s my daily fare.
I love using a pop of color on my bottom lash line! When I do it, I will usually just use mascara and blush on top of my base, no eyeshadow or lipstick. My favorite one to use for this purpose is the MJ highliner in peridot- thank you to Christine for introducing it to me!
Love liner, all colors. To update initial thoughts on the Melt liner storage that I’ve been trying to sort stuff into. Got 2; they say unto 96 held. ‘Up to’ is their limiting descriptor. Clearly a gross exaggeration. There are eight elastic retaining straps on the inside of the covers and on both sides of two inserts, totaling 48 spots for liners. Clearly, that suggests 2 per slot. Three could fit, actually. The construction is good to fair. The double zippers are not wonky, but they do not flow easily and strike me that longevity will be poor. The case material is black grained pleather, but not tacky. They seem to be an excellent idea that is somehow manque. The spine, at ~3″? is not deep enough to accommodate as many pencils as they suggest. So far, I’ve had rather a b**** of a time. When the pencils are added, the bloody thing really does not want to close. I suspect there is really only room for one insert. It’s as if the engineering component was forgotten, though the design concept was excellent. Somewhat dispirited, not quite ready to pull a Tim Gunn and make it work.
I don’t, really. It’s typically always some variaton of dark brown. I might do an eggplant or bordeaux liner or pewter, but it doesn’t stand out. I use a kakhi gold for the waterline (my eyes are hazel) occasionally to give a diffused look with a darker liner when lining lower or upper lash, but I don’t don any color that stands out.
I usually put it on the lower lash line. And as the old anti-drug PSA said, “I learned it from watching you!!”
Ugh … not at all any more. I’ve gotten so lazy! When I was using them regularly, I didn’t use them in any particular or consistent way — sometimes pop-of-color, another time enhancing or blending with a strong shadow, etc. Recently, I’ve been concentrating on testing my lipsticks and have gone neutral on the rest of my face for the sake of simplicity. I miss my more complicated eye looks! Maybe I can work through both my lip products *and* eye liners for testing purposes … hmmmmm …
And I have some juicy colored liners too! — UD Asphyxia, Woodstock, Anatomy, and Ink; MJ Fine (Wine); Sephora Iced Out, Swagga, Fairytale, and Go For A Ride; NYX Purple Blaze and Azure; CP Prance; and about two-dozen more non-browns or black. Just talking about them makes me really miss them!
Love ’em, because they can add life to an otherwise plain look! Especially on my lower lashline, since mine are usually pencil liners that would transfer up onto my hooded lids if I placed them there. I do have several very nice colorful gel liners that I can use on my upper lashline, as those do not transfer. Problem? I *forget* to!
I love colored liner, too! Usually I use it on the lower lashline, but I will sometimes use it both lashlines, the lower waterline, or even do a wing.
How *don’t* I? Eyeliner is my favorite! Inner corner pop of color, bright waterlines, shimmery lower lashlines, graphic wings. THERE ARE NO LIMITS!
Those were the days! I can’t pull that off anymore, sadly. But I still work with black, gray, purple and burgundy liners — sparingly, very sparingly. Whatever works.
My eyeliners are like a box of crayons, a very large box of crayons. Love to play with them and add pops of color to my lower lash line or water line, a little wing here and there, the possibilities are endless.
Almost a daily staple since my early teens. Would rather use colored liner than shadow, and often it’s all I use – from mid-eye to outer corners – always w/ a flick to offset drooping. Might do a bit on lower lashline – last 1/3 only usually neutral, and angling it up for lift. I have tons of colors and never even get to most of them. More than anything else, it gives me the feeling of glamour.
Usually I will pop a blue or green on my lower lash line when I want something extra. I never used to use a liner under my eyes until I saw a video that showed applying the pop of color followed by a light smoking out under the colored liner with the transition shade. That way the liner doesn’t look too stark or abrupt.
I admit I don’t use colored liners all that often because everything transfers from my upper lid to my lower lash line and if I use it just on my lower lash line it bleeds down on my skin giving me bright raccoon eyes if I am using a bright color. I have used the occasional liner along my upper lash line and then smudged it feeling like if I smudge it myself then it was meant to be there and isn’t really raccoon eyes, LOL.
Super easily. Stash from UD is one of my faves as it’s olivey sparkly tones go well against my green eyes, so if I want an easy look I just use that liner and throw on mascara, done. I also like deep purple liners against my green eyes, and sometimes throw in a lower lash liner color that matches what I’m wearing (teal, etc). I have a large collection of colored eyeliners from UD, love them.
Liner, lashes, & brows is all there is to my eye look! Super easy way to use a colored eyeliner is along the lower lashline- adds an extra pop of color & definition! If the liner has sparkle/shimmer bits in it putting it on the lower lashline prevent the sparkly bit getting into your eye (and possibly bothering your contacts.)
I don’t wear eyeliner all that often and thus haven’t bought a colored liner yet, but I figure that when I do I’ll use it as liberally as I wear bright colors in my other makeup.
You do your coloured eyeliners so well Christine.
I find that coloured eyeliner under my lower lash line ends up making me look like panda eyes, no matter what the shade, so I just use it on my upper lash line. I use neutral or olive shades mostly.
Actually, I always wear coloured eyeliner on daytime since black eyeliner somehow looks too “hard” on me for a day look. I’m very cool with pewtery brown eyes and my daily eyeliner shades vary between violet, plum, navy, dark green, pewter or coffee, depending on my outfit. I keep black for the night and for special occasions.
I like to use colorful liners, like navy blue, to tightline my upper lashes. MJ Highliners work great this way.
There’s lots you can do with them. Lower lashes of course. On the upper lashline, I prefer to do a black for that lashline enhancing effect, but then I can put a color over it! Especially a sparkly one.
Also, inner corners of the eye if you’re using a black or brown on the lashlines.
Love colored eyeliners but hardly will use black I find it too harsh on me and end up smudging the heck out of it making a mess. Love all other colors starting with brown, coppers I love with my warm neutrals eyeshadows. Love sparkly ones also! Have tons of them in metallic beautiful shades too. Plums, purples! They are fun to wear when I remember to. Lol! But i keep collecting.
