Hourglass Verse Extreme Sheen High Shine Lip Gloss ($28.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as a “light beige shimmer.” It’s a light-medium, peachy-beige with bronze and lighter peach shimmer. MAC Nectarsweet (LE, $20.00) is lighter. Urban Decay Freestyle (P, $20.00) is darker. bareMinerals Dazzler (LE, $18.00) is less shimmery. Revlon Peach (P, $7.49) is similar. MAC Sublime Shine (LE, $20.00) is simiar. MAC Satin Slip (LE, $20.00) is slightly warmer. See comparison swatches.

The formula is supposed to be “richly pigmented” with a “high-shine” finish that is also hydrating. While I have definitely used shades in the range that fit the bill as far as intense pigmentation goes, Verse is significantly short of “richly pigmented.” It’s more sheer to semi-sheer with a fair amount of shimmer but little in the way of color; adds warmth and evens out the natural lip color but does not alter it much. The consistency is light-medium in weight, thin but noticeable applied, and lightly tacky. It lasted two and a half hours, and after wearing it twice in a row, it seemed to be moderately hydrating. I wish I had bought a different shade–if this had been opaque, I’d have been so much more impressed.

I’ve bought some Hourglass lip losses before (from Costco of all places) and I really wasn’t impressed with them. They look gorgeous in the packaging but barely any color sticks and they don’t last long, in my experience. Since then, they have repackaged so maybe their formula has changed a little? I’ll stick with my beloved Dior Addict Ultragloss for now.

Try Perscriptives glosses. I have a gold shimmery one that is opaque and it is beautiful! Also, Lancome has a nice bronze gloss. It’s called Temptress or something like that. It looks a little brownish in the tube, but it comes out a pretty bronze.

I like this style of glosses, they look great on top of lipstick since they don’t alter color so much and add sparkle 😀 But they should write it in shade description, which ones are opaque and which are not! Btw, how does stickiness compare on this one vs Nars Lip Gloss? I love how non-sticky the nars one feel, but the plastic smell on some of them is terrible, so thinking of switching brands to something else not-sticky. Thanks!

Perfect timing! Last night I was looking at this, in “Ignite.” It’s part of a “best of” set and now I’m going to wait. Thanks for saving me some money. 🙂 It really did look like a beautiful shade that would have worked for me had it been pigmented.

I guess this is a shade that either works for you or doesn’t. I am very pale, and I love mine. It’s perfect for when I’m doing “no makeup makeup.” It literally looks like just licked, full, soft lips on me. I’m sorry it didn’t work out on you 🙁
