Hourglass Radiant Magenta Ambient Lighting Blush Review, Photos, Swatches
Hourglass Radiant Magenta Ambient Lighting Blush
Hourglass Radiant Magenta Ambient Lighting Blush ($35.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “golden fuchsia.” It’s a light-medium, warm-toned pink with a satin finish. Hourglass Diffused Heat (P, $35.00) is lighter, less pink. Dior Corail Bagatelle (763) (LE, $43.00) is darker, less pink. NARS Love (LE, $29.00) is a smidgen darker. Tarte Crave (LE, $26.00) is brighter. Too Faced Melt Into Spring (LE) is darker. Bobbi Brown Pink Coral (LE, $26.00) is brighter. Chanel Revelation (63) (P, $38.00) is a cream product, pinker. MAC Royal Sunset (LE, $21.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches
The finish is less shimmery/sparkly compared to Diffused Heat. Speaking of that shade, this is darker, but when they’re applied, there is not much of a difference. If you have a cooler complexion, you might see more of the pink tones of Radiant Magenta come forward. The texture of the powder is soft, finely-milled, but it can be somewhat powdery to work with. On the skin, it did not look powdery or cakey, even as I layered and built up the intensity (I am normal-to-dry). The way this powder feels is much like the Ambient Lighting Powders. It is nicely pigmented with buildable, even color, and it’s easy to blend out the edges or sheer out the color if you’ve over-applied, as it is a very forgiving powder that yields a soft, luminous sheen that does not emphasize pores. When I wore this shade, the color wore well for eight hours before I started to see signs of fading.

This is JUST too pretty christine !
With thay YSL lippy its making a perfect lip/cheek combination. Drool.
Thank you!
Christine, thanks for posting this so quickly!
Do you remember what you were wearing on your lips here? I don’t always like a closely matching lip-cheek, but here, I think it looks great!
Here you go:
THE MAKEUP LOOK
On lips: YSL Peach Passion Rouge Volupte Lipstick.
Thanks, and I’m sorry I didn’t notice that before — I’d scoured the review in case you mentioned it, but didn’t notice until now that there’s a separate section just for this info underneath it. >_<
No worries! 🙂 It’s easy enough for me to copy and paste!
You are the BEST!! What would I do without your reviews? Thank you!
Aww, thank you Sarah! xo
I expected something named “magenta” to be considerably more cool toned/blue based than this looks, even putting aside your warmer skin tone. I’ll check it out in store as I have to go to Sephora this week (assuming that they’ve received it yet). And I’ll check out the others as well. I wish I could wear warm toned blushes because Diffused Heat looked really lovely. This looks nice too but just not the colour I was hoping for and at this price, I want it to be exactly what I’m hoping for so one of the other shades might be “it” or maybe I’ll have to pass on this.
Yeah, Radiant is a very warm Ambient Lighting Powder, so I’m not surprised it turned out to be a lot warmer when mixed together, though I’m surprised one would call it Magenta, I guess.
Yeah, since it’s the magenta is mixed with a very warm color, it makes sense that it’s going to look warm. They have other shades that are cool.
this is beautiful, I can’t wait to get my hands on Dim Infusion!
xx
Enjoy, Beth!
Do you think these would have more of a difference to them when applied to lighter skin tones?
P.S. When I click to compare swatches I see a picture of the product rather than a swatch of radiant magenta.
I think it may make some difference, but the bigger difference is if you have pink tones vs. yellow like me.
Should be fixed!
This is the one I ordered. I’m pleased with my choice. It looks great on you!!
Thanks, Helen!
This is beautiful. I’ve already ordered two (Luminous Flush and Dim Infusion) but this might have to come home with me as well. I love Ambient Powders; they provide a beautiful finish and never emphasize pores. It makes it hard to go back to some of my other, less forgiving, highlighters.
So glad you’re enjoying your Ambient Lighting Powders! Which one is your favorite?
Diffused Light is my favourite as a setting powder; I wear it every day.
I really like both Incandescent Light and Luminous Light as highlighters. Radiant Light is nice as a very natural blush.
The only one I own that I haven’t figured out how to use is Dim; it’s too dark as a setting powder on me (NC20-25). I might try using it blended with very pigmented blushes to soften them a bit.
Ethereal Light is too pale for me and I found Mood Light to be too pink; I don’t have either of those.
I think that would be a good way to use Dim, Deb!
I jumped for joy when I got up this morning and saw your reviews! (Sorry if I submitted this several times)
I purchased Luminous Flush, and if I love it I will get a few more once they are properly released at Sephora. I really hope there is more noticeable difference applied than these two that you have previewed. Radiant Magenta is the next one I am looking forward to trying. It looks like I might give Diffused Heat a pass since they are just so similar!
I hope there’s more of a difference from these compared to the other ones as well!
This looks lovely.
To me, your skin is flawless but did you happen to notice if the shimmer (the gorgeous kind!) emphasized the pores? I’m very curious about this product.
Hi Helen!
I think I mentioned this in the review, but I didn’t notice any emphasis of pores.
Just re-read your review and yes, you mentioned pores. I was just so excited about the product, i must have glossed over that line. I’ll be more careful next time. Thanks!
No worries! I went back to double-check in case I forgot to mention it! 🙂
Oh this one looks pretty as well! Wish list material… hmmmmmI think it is!
Yay!
You have to tell me what lip color you’re wearing here! So flattering with the blush.
YSL Peach Passion!
The glow is just so gorgeous on you! I really like the finish
It has a lovely luminous sheen!
This is also pretty, but still wanting Diffused Heat more!
I can see Diffused Heat being more foolproof on your coloring!
I wonder if this would show up on NW43 skin, looks pretty on you!
I think it will, but it won’t be like a whoa! magenta! shade.
I wonder how many people are now going to buy the YSL lipstick after seeing your Hourglass blush reviews, LOL
LOL! It’s such an old shade!
I love the blush on you! Absolutely stunning! And the lipstick is perfect! Makes me want to buy it all :-).
I love you reviews and swatches! When i need information i will always check your site first. Thank you and keep up the good work. <3
Greetzzz from the Netherlands
Thank you SO much, Priscilla! 🙂
Oh lord, you look gorgeous in both colors!!!! Can you suggest which would look better on my NC25-30 skin tone as they both look kinda similar to me?
Honestly, they look about the same on me, and I’m NC25/NC30. I would go with Radiant Magenta, if only because it could be built up to something more intense or blended out to look more like Diffused Heat.
Glad I picked this one up! I can’t wait to see the swatches/reviews of the others when you get them because I’m sure I’ll need at least one other one (key words: at least)!
Woohoo!! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Radiant Magenta, Kylee.
Thats gorgeous on you Christine 🙂
u r right dear …
noooo not meant for me
🙁 🙁 🙁
I rather pick givenchy le prism blush naa
Thank you so much, Rashmi! 🙂
This looks really pretty, and I’m looking forward to receiving it! But since it looks so similar to Diffused Heat (which I initially wanted but I’m glad I changed over to Radiant Magenta), I don’t see a need to get them both. The other ones that seriously caught my eye were Luminous Flush and Mood Exposure. I’m really curious to see how Mood Exposure swatches, and I hope it’s significantly different from Diffused Heat and Radiant Magenta. It looks gorgeous in the pictures of the pan in any case.
Me too! I hope they aren’t all super similar applied.
This is insanely amazing! I love this shade, as well!
You have good taste 🙂
This is the one I got.Though i should say the whole fuschia/magenta description gave me a whole diff picture. but i still loved the shade.
Same here, @Vineetha! I was thinking something much more vibrant.
I was picturing something that looked more like a hot pink. But I suppose when Hourglass claims this shade will ‘give you a summer glow’ (which is in the description but not really implied by the name ‘magenta’) it is fairly true to that word.
This is gorgeous! And just happens to be the shade I chose in the frenzy of the Hourglass site release. So, well done, me! 🙂
Shani x
Nice, Shani! I hope you love it 🙂
This looks so pretty! Thank you for reviewing these so fast!
No problem, Ashley!
LOVELY! You look gorgeous Gurrrl! So waiting for you to receive rest of the shades to see how they swatch….coz honestly, how it swatches is so different from how it looks in the pan! I really want at least 1 of these!!!!
Yes, and even quite different from Hourglass’ descriptions!
Ooh…this one is nice too! :- D
Random: you know how when you have a seriously plushy jelly nail polish, and you kind of can’t stop staring at it? That’s the effect your lipstick is having on me in these photos! (Er, that’s supposed to be a compliment to both you and YSL). I have yet to check out their lipsticks, but the brand already has my HG powder foundation, bb cream and mascara …
I totally get what you mean, Sylirael!
Definitely worth checking them out since you’ve had good luck with the brand elsewhere! They can be a little thick, and I know some readers dislike that thickness and others have found them horribly drying (it seems either amazing or horrible, depending on who you talk to!).
Thanks so much for always posting dupes/similar shades, Christine! I have both Corail Bagatelle and NARS Love so I will be skipping this :). My wallet thanks you!!
My pleasure, Carolyn!
Love this so much!!! So glad I ordered this and the others! can’t wait to finally try them on
Hope you love ’em!
Wow, that looks amazing on you!
Thanks, Erin!
You are so inspiring….to my wallet! 🙂 I love reading your blog every day! My wallet, not so much!
Thank you for reading, Maria! 🙂
Ahhh! This looks so lovely! I ordered this color and “Mood Exposure.” Mood Exposure looks like nothing I have, so I’m excited for it to arrive. Since getting the Hourglass Holiday Ambient Lighting palette, I’ve been obsessed with the powders. I really wish they’d make the LE color from the holiday palette into a permanent color. It’s the best cheek highlighter I’ve ever used, and I’m going to be devastated when it runs out!
Fun! I can’t wait to see the other shades.
Ugh..I’m going to have to get this. I’m in love!
Enjoy it, Alisa!
These blushes look lovely on you, but I doubt if it would be all that great for someone darker skinned like I am…the packaging is so pretty, though, and the promo images were just amaaazingggg 😀
I totally understand! I’m hoping one of the others, at the very least, will be more universal.
What’s on your brows?;)
MAC Espresso + Brun eyeshadows
This blush and lipstick are both beautiful. Great combination!!!
Thanks a lot, Astrild!
Ohhhhhh… Pretty much STUNNING on you, Christine! What a beautiful color.
Thank you, Catherine!
This colour is absolutely beautiful! I still haven’t caved into the whole Houglass Ambient powders thing, but this is slowly weakening my resolve! I cannot wait to read your review on Dim Infusion – I’ve had my eyes on that since I saw your news post on it!
Thank goodness they’re all permanent – plenty of time to think about it!
I’ve never bought anything from Hourglass, they’re not available in my country but I always enjoy your reviews of their products Christine! I think I might look around online to find someplace to buy this, it looks amazing!!
Thanks, Emme! Hope if you decide to cave that it won’t be too hard to get.
Oh wow this is absolutely stunning! I was not aware of these at all and kind of want to go and get one!
Uh oh! 🙂
I ordered this shade last week and I’m afraid that it won’t work well with my NC45 skintone. 🙁
I think it will still show up, but it’s not going to be like… legit magenta on you.
