My problem with their packaging is that (at least where I can get Guerlain), you cannot buy refill lipsticks (which was very common back in “the day” – you’d buy the product in a luxe tube but you could get a cheaper refill “bullet” to put into it when you’d finish the lipsticks). To me, especially in this day and age, where so many of us are concerned with reducing waste (and wasted $), it seems inexcusable that they don’t make refills for the cases.

I agree! Firstly, I think the packaging is TOO luxe. I wish it at least had the dimensions of the average lipstick tube and a flat base. Then it could be displayed on a vanity or dresser and not sit in a drawer. Secondly, I would love to be able to buy different shades as refills as well. Since they do make refills for their mascara, I’m surprised they don’t for their lipsticks.

The most luxurious lip color that I’ve personally tried has been Guerlain’s Rouge G, though Armani and Dior pull up close seconds. (I’m a Chanel loyalist, particularly to their aesthetic, but I admit Armani’s lip formula is consistently better across the line.) I’ve meandered over Cle de Peau, as R1 and R2 are pretty compelling shades that may eventually tip me into sucking up the $60 price tag as a major splurge in the future. I’ve heard really great things about Serge Lutens, as well, but nothing in their range is that unique to convince me it’s worth the $70 price tag.

Guerlain Rouge G as everyone else 🙂 But also! Lipstick Queen velvet rope is glorious (I have it in Brat Pack). It is matte, but the most comfortable matte I have ever applied. Whisper thin and moisturizing. And insane pigmentation. And the bullet itself is gold deco gorgeousness. Sigh.

+1 for Guerlain Rouge G but I also vote for Burberry Lip Cover/Lip Velvet. The Burberry formula is the best on my dryer-than-dry lips, and the packaging really looks like a ‘designer’ collectible.

Toss up between Guerlain Rouge G and Tom Ford! I love the packaging for Rouge G but prefer TF’s formulas better! I really can’t chose between the two.

By far Rouge G by Guerlain. I love my YSL and Dior liptsticks, especially more creamy formulae. But there is something truly magical 🙂 about Rouge G line. It outperforms a lot of really good lipsticks. Stays put and creamy, does not bleed and nourishes your lips.

For me, Givenchy Le Rouge, Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy and the new Clinique Long Last Matte are quite a surprise for the luxury texture at bargain price.

Going on formula alone I’d say Bite Luminous Creme Lipsticks, followed closely by Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Creme Lipsticks.

Factoring in packaging I’d have to go with Tom Ford, YSL Rouge Voluptes, and Guerlain Rouge Gs.

Hm… I think it’d have to be Guerlain Rouge Automatique or Chanel Rouge Coco. I find both to be super moisturising (as in, my lips feel better *after* wearing the lipstick than they did before) and they have a certain weight to them – not heavy on the lips, but you can feel it’s there, smooth and luscious! There are other formulae that are lovely, but those two best fit ‘luxurious’ for me!

I really like my Guerlain Madame Batifole, I do think the formula of Julie Hewett’s Rouge Noir is the best I’ve ever felt. Esteé Lauder’s Envy range is also very pleasant to use.

I just love how MAC’s patent polish lip pencils feel on my lips (does anybody know whether they will become permanent at some point?) and am very happy with the coverage of Patent Pink. There is a downside however, it does not last more than 2 hours on me, although my lips still feel very soft and pampered for quite a while longer.
