Hit List: Best Crease Brush (for Eyes)

What’s the Best Crease Brush (for Eyes) that you’ve tried?

Share your pick!  And don’t forget to share why 🙂

My top picks… Hakuhodo J142 and Hakuhodo G5522. I also love Tom Ford’s #13 brush (which is very much like the J142!).

My HG crease brushes are:
* The TOM FORD 13 (to apply the first color on my crease),
* The NARS 12 or the MAC 226 (to apply the second darker color on my crease right under the lighter one , to create a gradient effect)
* And the Laura Mercier “Eye Crease” (the best brush to blend everything, I love this brush so much I bought 2 more!).

******I also have the Sigma E35, Sigma 224, Mac 224, Mac 217 which I DON’T use anymore since I have the ones I already mention******

The MAC 217 will always have a place in my heart and I like it for crease work because it gives a softer effect. I also really, REALLY like the Smashbox #15 detailer brush! It works for a more defined crease but also works well to blend out the edges so that, again, if I don’t want such a “full on” crease, I can soften it. Just this past weekend, I nearly bought one of those new MUFE 234 Angled Shader Brush but then I realized that, in all honesty, I truly did NOT need it.

For a soft, blended wash of color in the crease, I love the Real Techniques duo-fiber crease brush or Sonia Kashuk duo-fiber crease brush. Unfortunately, both were LE in sets, although the SK Summer ’14 set has one included, which means I’ll likely pick it up…

For more detailed crease work, I actually use a really old Elizabeth Arden lip brush from a GWP that I hated for lips, but works well for the crease!

Some no name brush I got in an Ipsy bag (I think it might be a Soho brush) and then my HG Sonia K 109 brush for blending or an all over wash of color.

I use MAC 226 and 219 a lot for crease work when I’m really trying to get in there, but if I’m just throwing a simple look together then I’ll just use the 217 to apply and blend along with the 224 for additional blending.

Suqqu eyeshadow brush M. It’s great for my crease because I have Asian eyes with a small crease on one eye and almost a monolid on the other. The brush is small enough to get in the crease without overwhelming my eyelid and the bristles are soft enough to blend well. It’s also great for packing on more shadow when an eyeshadow isn’t very pigmented!

No stores sell it in the US but Selfridges in the UK sell online and will ship for £25. I think it costs £45 but I don’t remember. The other eyeshadow brushes in their range are stellar too!

CVS has this $6-7 two pack with one normalish, domed crease brush, and one tiny, bitsy one. I love the tiny one. I’ve bought a second set to get another one. Since I tend to do my lid color with a normal sized crease brush, the tiny brush is great for my actual crease. I think I must be, like, obsessively precise with my eyeshadow application or something.

I really do love my MAC 217. It fits into my crease very well and blends my shadow like a dream. I have a few of these! If all are dirty, I’ll switch to my Sigma E25 which also does the job but not as well!
