Without a “shadow” of a doubt, Maybelline Color Tattoo are the best for my oily lids even more when considering the price point 🙂

MUFE Aqua Creams. Those things lock onto your eyelids and don’t let go! And I have very oily eyes.

I recommend MUFE to anyone who has problems with smudging/oiliness… Aqua Liner is also, in my experience, the best eyeliner for this problem. It just does NOT smudge.

hello. Can u plz tell me which eye shadows give a smoother look to dry eye lids and help in making perfect smoky eye???? I shall be really thankful

If I load up on UDPP the Loreal Infallible eyeshadows are fab! Most others will crease toward the afternoon. I have the Clinique chubby stick eyeshadow in Whopping Willow and it seems to be doing ok for me too…

Also, the old UD liquid eyeshadow in Mushroom does not crease, but again, I aways load up on UDPP first. I wouldn’t dare wear any liquid eyeshadows without primer!

I did try a MAC paint pot without primer once and it did crease for me, by lunchtime!

Every single cream shadow creases on me without a primer. Now that that’s out the way, super dried out paint pots with a primer don’t crease on me. You know that old Painterly that looks like it has seen better days? Well- it took 3 years to dry up enough to not crease WITH a primer. Benefit creaseless creams were good with a primer. Estee Lauder Double Wear cream shadows are good with a primer. Maybelline colour tattoo in Bad to the Bronze wears well with a primer.

If it comes in stick form, it’s too emollient for me to use EVEN with a primer. I will melt the crap out of it in no time. Nars eye pencils, Rimmel fat pencils, NYX fat pencils, Laura Mercier caviar sticks, etc- nope. Big Nopes. EVen with a primer. Honestly, since I’m aware of how oily my lids can be, I don’t invest in too many cream eye stuffs. There’s no point. As well, the best eye primer that I have ever used to date (and I’ve used almost all of them) is Nars Eye Prime. Hands down HG. I have to switch it up from time to time with UDPP because my eyelids are sneaky and if I let them get used to something, they will stop behaving.

Rahni Avatar

I am right there with you! Everything creases on me unless I use NARS shadow primer underneath, granted some of the stick shadows do work for me over a primer, at least for a couple hours, they don’t crease immediately like everything else. But if I had to pick the best shadows for oily eyelids it would have to be the maybelline cream shadows

Ok, this is coming from someone with SUPER OILY LIDS…..

Try Mac Paint Pots or Maybelline Color Tatoos cream shadows. Maybelline is considerably less expensive. Personally, I will not be replacing my MAC paint pots once I’m done with it…. not because they doesn’t work, simply for cost savings with Maybelline.

Benefit Creaseless Cream and MUFE Aqua Colors! I have single-lid Asian eyes and only a handful of products stay put. These are two of them. I used the MUFE for my wedding on a humidddd NY summer day on a farm. Lasted through photos, ceremony, and reception!

Danielle Avatar

Maybelline Color Tattoos! I still tend to put an eyeshadow primer under these, but they don’t budge! i find the MAC Paint Pots are hit or miss, but the Maybelline Color Tattoos are fantastic!

Janeen Avatar

Maybelline Color Tattoo!! I don’t bother with any other cream eyeshadow. Their quality is like spending $20+ but I only pay $6.99 and through Ulta if you buy them during the buy 1 get one 50% off and then use their $3.50 off coupon…you basically buy one and get one free, so why buy anything else? I use Nars eyeprimer with a color tattoo on top, and then do whatever eyeshadow I want. Only way my eyeshadows last most of the day, thanks to my uber oily eyelids.

Kadie Avatar

I have quite oily lids and I have great success with Maybelline Color Tattoos, Milani Shadow Eyez and MAC Painterly (I haven’t tried any other shades or finishes in the Paint Pots, so I’m being specific). I always use a primer under them, but if I need something to stay a bit longer the order is always primer, cream shadow, shadow for me.

I really love Shiseido’s Shimmering Cream Eye Color eyeshadow. They colors are intense, vibrant and super long-lasting. I have eight of them, and with a good base underneath, I bet they’d last 24 hours on me!

i was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the bobbi brown cream shadows…. my eyelids are very dry at first, but throughout the day they get very oily. i’ve tried mac paint pots, make up for ever aqua cream, and stila smudge pots… they are all so dry on me, they flake like crazy. the products themselves are not old. i really dont like them, even when my eyelids are oily they are dry and flaky. i do really enjoy benefits creaseless cream eyeshadows… they do not crease and they feel like butter going on!

Penny Avatar

I find the Bobbi Brown cream shadows (in the pots, I have not tried the sticks) last pretty well even without primer. The only downside is the pots dry out fast.

Trish Avatar

Super-oily lids here and I’ve tested these in 98 deg Florida heat (110 w/ the heat index) and up to 90% humidity:

1) Maybelline Color Tattoo (Bad To The Bronze is my gold standard but all wear for hours)
2) MUFE Aqua Creams (cannot go wrong with these. They stayed put for hours even while swimming!)
3) Urban Decay Shadow Pencils (no budge, no smudge even after traipsing through Disney World)

Erin Avatar

My eyelids are super oily and I never could wear eyeshadow until I discovered some great long-lasting cream shadows! Mac paint pots, Stila smudge pots, Benefit creaseless cream shadows, and Maybelline color tattoos all work as a base or on their own for my eyes. I wish I could find one in stick form that is affordable that stays all day like the pot versions do!

Mariella Avatar

My lids aren’t all that oily but I’d have to say of all the cream shadows (pot and stick form) that I have (and I have a lot – Benefit, Chanel, Tarte, UD 24/7 pencils, MAC Paint Pots, etc., etc.), I honestly think that Maybelline Colour Tattoos (the original ones that I have in Tough as Taupe and Bad to the Bronze combine the best of long wear and ease of blending.

Christina Avatar

I have the oiliest eyelids ever!!! It’s such a pain the best combo for me is UDPP in Eden (the matte one) and then layered on top of that I use Stila taffy, then I layer whatever eye-shadows I’m using that day. This is the only combo that works for me if I really need my eye make up to last for a long time. If I’m only wearing eye make up for a few hours I can use Maybelline Color Tattoos or MAC Paint Pots.

Julie Avatar

My oily lids love MAC Paint Pots, but only the matte or creams. It can’t have shimmer. Painterly and Girl Friendly are the best.

Laura Avatar

I actually never thought that i had oily eyelids, but maybelline’s color tattoo do not stay on at all on my eyes – even with UD primer! does no one else have this problem? 😀 i want to give mac’s paint pot a try – but i don’t know if it’s worth it or if they also just gonna start smudging after an hour

Michelle Teixeira Avatar

If you have oily lids then invest in an eye lid primer that works for you. It doesn’t matter what the company claims the length of wear to be. If I don’t wear a primer, it will melt off in two hours or less. That being said, I adore cream shadows and sticks alone or layered. They give great complexity without sitting on top of the skin as much. My favorites are Shiseido Hydro powder cream shadows, MUFE Aqua creams, Mally Ultimate cream sticks, and Chanel Ombre cream shadows.

KaseyCannuck Avatar

Maybelline Color Tattoos are my HG, along with Paint Pots. I don’t even think to use a primer with these as they stay put all day on their own.

Em Avatar

I’ve had great luck with Maybelline Color Tattoos. I have oily eyelids, but when I use a color tattoo I don’t even bother with putting primer underneath. I put the cream shadow right onto my lid and it stays put all day.

LU Avatar

The Urban decay Shadow Pencils and MUFE Shadow Pencils work great for me. I might try Maybelline Color Tattoo due to all the responses here.

Jasmine M. Avatar

I have to wear primer under everything because my skin turns into an oil slick in about 30 seconds(actually I have to wear primer, a long wearing creme shadow AND a powder shadow or I get creasing) but the ones I’ve liked are urban decay’s old creme shadows, maybelline colour tattoos, paint pots and Essence’s stall all day creme shadows(these are super cheap, but really great!)

Dana Avatar

MUFE Aqua Creams are the ONLY cream shadows I can wear without a primer. Everything else creases without one. Ones I like with a primer are Smashbox Limitless Cream Shadows, Estee Lauder Double Wear Cream Shadow, Mac Paintpots, Benefit Creaselss Cream shadows

Denise Avatar

I have really oily lids, everything creases on me within minutes, but ud shadow pencils stay on all day, even without primer. Aqua creams have good staying power too.

Bethany Avatar

I have to agree with everyone. I can use the Maybelline Color Tatoos without primer and they don’t budge until evening. I find them for $5 at Walmart. I can’t stop myself from buying them! The UD shadow sticks don’t budge all day. My eyeshadow looks the same at 9:00 pm as it did at 9:00 am.

Ola Wysocka Avatar

Only MUFE Aqua Creams. I was blown away by the long wear. They literally last all day, hot summer day, rain etc. Def worth the hefty price tag.

Katie Avatar

Like many others I prefer MAC Painterly paint pot. I have moderately oily lids and on days when I forget to prep with Painterly my eye makeup disappears in a matter of hours. I like Maybelline Bad to the Bronze but haven’t found a color tattoo dupe for Painterly. Any suggestions?

marion Avatar

Maybelline color tattoos and the shadow sticks from Mally are really good. And I DO have oily and hooded lids, which makes this even harder to find something that stays on. Love my color tattoos

Jan Avatar

I keep thinking it’s my eye shape but it’s really that I have a particular type of oily skin. All of these crease on me. MAC Paint Pots are among the worse for creasing on my eyelids. I do find the Maybelline Color Tattoos to be pretty good, but only two shades that I can wear (the more matte shades from the original set). Later sets are patchy and difficult to apply evenly. I find this ironic as for decades, Maybelline was the worst on me.

Danielle Avatar

I love Urban Decay shadow sticks, MAC paint pots and Laura Mercier caviar shadow sticks. These all are amazing when it comes to staying power. I have super oily skin/lids and none of them crease

I’m a lazy person when it comes to makeup. I have oily lids and the best cream shadows for me without the eye primer step is the Hard Candy All Lid Up Cream Eyeshadows that Walmart carries. They do not budge. At All.

Ana Avatar

Maybelline Color Tattoos… And I’m not kidding I’ve gone through serious hot weather here where I live, they don’t crease at all even when the activities make me sweat or oily really fast.

my Avatar

I have really oily lids and I live in a tropical country. The only cream shadows that stay put during the hottest weathers we have here are: Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour (doesn’t budge even after 6 hours, with slight fading by the 8th-9th hour mark-wihout primer) and Becca Eye Tints (lasts about 5-6 hours-without primer). 🙂
