Hidden Rainbow Balayage | New Hair for Spring 2020!
Happy new hair for spring! I’m calling this one “hidden rainbow,” because it started with the concept of rainbow hair but in such a way where it would be rainbow-esque regardless of whether it was up, down, curled or worn natural. Most pieces have two shades in a gradient but some have three and a few have the full rainbow gradient. We went with more dominant purple and pink (with more purple at the crown and with a veil of babylights) around my face.
Hair was colored by Liz Cook and took about 4.5 hours (I paid in full for my service) in all (not bad at all!).
You looks beautiful Christine, love all the different shades and how they all look together.
Thank you, Lily!
Omg, it keeps getting better! Every time you do a hair post I like it, but this one is my fav! Gorgeous!
Unique bright and pretty! I love it. You look like a mermaid.
Aww! Thanks so much, Denise!
She has such talent and you have such vision. Gorgeous, just brilliant
She definitely does!
That is so beautiful!
Glad you like it, Cameron!
I love it ! It looks so intricate, colourful but not too loud, very nice ! I thought this would have taken even more time, it takes so long already when I’m doing a balayage with only one colour. If you don’t mind me asking, is it hard to maintain, with the different colours maybe fading at different speeds ? Anyway I’m very impressed by Liz’s work, very well done <3
They don’t seem to fade at different speeds so much as the dominant colors (pink and purple) might take away some of the yellow/orange over time. Pulpriot is better for keeping more distinctive colors from cross-contaminating, which is what was used last time I had my hair done – I still had distinctive colors throughout, just maybe a little less of the lightest colors.
To maintain, I wash once a week and use cold water to wash! I’m not the best at remembering to use treatments to help with moisture but that’s definitely something I’d recommend to anyone doing something like this, though.
LOVE it!!! Looks amazing!
Thank you, Erin!
Amazing!!!! Makeup jewel tones look fantastic on you and so.does.your.hair!
Aww, thanks a lot, Wednesday!
This is so gorgeous! I love it! Possibly the most beautiful color job I’ve ever seen!
Wow! Thank you, Danielle!
Love it!! so beautiful ?
Thank you, Elizabeth! 🙂
simply wow!
Yay! ;D
Omg that’s beautiful!!!
Happy to hear it, Kristi!
Gorgeous!!! Totally something I would want to try but would be terrified of the amount of upkeep needed.
I don’t think it’s a lot more than if you’re using semi-permanent dye in general. I wash my hair less than I used to (once a week instead of twice a week) and wash using cold water instead of hot water, and then I’ve switched to black towels for drying my hair. You definitely have to pay attention to hair health and keep it hydrated, but I imagine someone who might use hot tools on a regular basis might already be doing things like that!
It’s absolutely beautiful!
Thank you, Rachel!!
As usual Christine it’s stunning! I’m going to show it to my husband and tell him that I’m going to have my hair done like this and watch his reaction lol! (He’s very traditional ie. stick in the mud!)
LOL! Hope the reaction is amusing at least!
Stunningly beautiful Christine – what a gifted hairdresser you have. I love how the colours reveal themselves and the gorgeous shades. It was worth the four and half hours……
And 4.5 hours felt so fast, haha!
Thank you, Genevieve!
This looks so good on you!
Thank you, LeToya!
It’s beautiful! Love it.
Thanks, Teasha!
Wow, just wow. So beautiful ❤️
Aw, thanks a lot, Prairie!
WOW!!!!! This hair is (just kissed my fingertips)!!! I love and hope you enjoy this beautiful work of art.
Loving it so far!! 🙂
Looks amazing on you !
Thank you, Liz!
Wow! Your hair is absolutely beautiful! Did they have to lift some of your color off and do you know what brand of coloring did she use?
Simply gorgeous Christine!
Yes, she lifted off all of the previous color (which was done about 3 months prior), and she also added babylights at the crown of my head. She used Pulpriot!
That looks amazing on you!
Thanks a lot, Karla!
Omg I LOOOOOOVE THIS!!!!
Thank you, Kelsey!
Just stunning Christine ! Respect Liz Cook:)
Thanks so much, Mary!
Your hair looks beautiful, Christine! Love when you share updates… :o) You thought of all the angles, and it came out great!
Thank you, Sandy!! 🙂
You have magical fairy hair!!! It’s so pretty!!
Thanks, Tonya!
Truly a work of art. Extraordinarily beautiful. Plus, you can pull it off Christine.
Aw, thanks a lot, Adriana!
Beautiful and very stunning your hair is.
I live in Colorado near Denver and I was wondering if you have a list of good hair colorists for Colorado that you could send me.
Thank you so much
Hey Cindy!
I’m not aware of anyone off hand that’s in Colorado, but you might try perusing (or following) some hair accounts like Pulpriot, Modern Salon, etc. I also looked at Pulpriot’s site for colorists and then checked out their Instagram accounts to see if they did the type of look I was going for. Then you can google for reviews and the like 🙂
Doing that, I found this colorist/stylist on Instagram, who is listed as a district leader/educator for Pulpriot – https://www.instagram.com/mandaharsche/?hl=en
I find that’s a good starting point for me!
It’s so beautiful!
Thank you, Rachel! 🙂
OMG Christine!!! After your last color I started looking into Liz’s pics of her work (I live in the vicinity of her salon) and it brought me to a ton of rainbow color styles that I’ve been considering for myself and to make an appointment with Liz…It’s totally inspiring me to follow through on one of my favorites. Your hair looks amazing and not only shows how beautiful your hair is, but Liz’s talents as well!!! Enjoy your style in good health!!!xoxoxo
Keep us posted on your hair, Shelly!! Can’t wait to see what you end up getting done 🙂
Unbelievably gorgeous!!
Thanks, Allison!
Your hair is a dreamy! You must get a lot of compliments. Love it!
Definitely more hair compliments than when I had my natural hair, LOL!
Love It! You are much braver than I am, but you did inspire me to color my hair last week. I have naturally black hair and I went with purple and blue highlights. I love it, though I think I’ll have bolder highlights next time. Thanks for the inspiration. ????
Sounds bold to me, ShariP!! Happy to hear you’re loving what you’ve had done. Once you start, it’s hard to stop! ?
Magical Unicorn Rainbow Hair! ???
Liz did a true work of art with your locks!
She did the thing! 🙂
What does your husband think about your hair? Just wondering. I bet you get a lot of ooohs and aaahs when you go out. Wow, your hair is gorgeous!
It’s kind of like the makeup… he doesn’t notice it so much any more, lol! He does like it more when there’s more variety/division between the colors if I’m going to have it colored!
OMG!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Absolutely breathtaking!
Thanks, Seraphine!
So beautiful. I love the look. Your skin looks great too.
I forgot how lovely NARS’ Radiant foundation is on!
Wooooow! That is the prettiest rainbow job I’ve ever seen. If I didn’t have a corporate job at a big bank I’d get this tomorrow. Looks incredible.
One day, we’ll live in a world where you can have a bank job with rainbow hair 😉
That would be so lovely! :o) Definitely no colors allowed at my work, too.
Love your hair!
Thanks a lot, Susan!
I’ve never in my life dyed my hair, and never felt the urge to, until I saw THIS. IT LOOKS AMAZING ON YOU! ?
I’ve always admired bright colored hair on others, and it wasn’t until I saw it done on more of a balayage style that I felt like I could do it! The natural black hair running underneath and from the top give it a nice background to contrast again – so even though it can be quite vibrant, it doesn’t feel overwhelming.
Love the colors and how beautiful your hair looks!!
Yay! Thank you, Marylin!
Hello Christine!
Your new hair colour(s) and style are superb!!! I tried something colourful years ago to a local hairstylist in Italy, but it ended up a pure mess because my hair is very dark. How long did your hairdresser let the dyes onto your hair, if I may ask? Indeed, at that time I had trouble with the bleach and the dye which could fix properly… :/
xoxo and have a nice weekend!!!
My hair is naturally black, so depending on how you get it done, it might take more than one session to lighten it to get really, really vivid colors (also depends on the dyes used and colors you choose – like magenta was very vibrant on me without having to lift to platinum!).
I think the dyes must be on somewhere between 20 and 45 minutes – I want to say it was about 20 minutes of letting it work its magic after she had finished getting all of the colors in. Not everyone’s hair lifts the same way, and I know that how fast colors fade can depend on a person’s individual hair along with what else they do (like I can get away with washing my hair once a week but some have to wash more often).
For vivid color, it’s definitely worth it to find someone who has a portfolio of vivid colors and not just someone who does it once in a great while. Liz is really lovely since she has a ton of experience working with vivid color but also does more natural tones and colors, so she has a keen eye for placement.
OMG Christine your hair looks amazing!!! Your Hairstylist is a Balayage God!! I’m certain you will get lots of head turns in the best way.
She is amazing!
Your hair is breathtakingly gorgeous!
Thanks a lot, Alicia! 🙂
This is hair inspo that will seriously go down in history, Christine. Honestly, I truly predict that people are going to have these pictures saved to being to their colorist for years to come. Incredible, and so beautiful. Thank you for sharing!
It’s incredible to be able to share and have readers react so well – I was very worried initially–not as much now–about the reception!
Never thought I could like a rainbow coloured mane until I saw these pics! Wow! Christine you have beautifull hair and your stylist did an amazing job! (chef’s kiss)
Thank you so much!
Beautiful again! Really stunning work. My little pony!
Thank you, Kira!
These hair color pigments are insanely beautiful. I love the juxtaposition of colors and how it’s still somewhat soft, almost a way to make bright colors still super wearable. Love!
She is a master!
Thanks a lot, Mags!
I absolutely love seeing your hair posts. It’s always gorgeous beyond imagination ❤️❤️
Thank you, Tara!
So beautiful! It is really fun AND flattering on you! I really wish I could have more fun hair color. My dresscode is a bummer.
Thank you so much, Sian!
I LOVE IT SO MUCH
😀
Wow! Looks very nice on you! I couldn’t go there even if I wanted to, just too dark for me, but really look good on you.
