Help Wanted: Data Entry
Update: We received over 250 applications, and we are presently reviewing them as quickly as we can. We expect to reach out to a portion of candidates with additional questions, and then from there start making decisions. I was personally overwhelmed by the outpouring of applications, the kindness of your words, and appreciative of just how diverse and knowledgeable the Temptalia community is.
Update #2 (11/19) We have read through all applications at least once, and we will be reaching out to some potential candidates with follow-up questions within the next few days. Thank you for your patience!
Update #3 (11/23) Candidates still under consideration have been emailed follow-up questions to the email address they applied to. Thank you again for your time and patience!

If you are a U.S.-based contractor or a U.S. citizen, you will be required to fill out Form W9, and we will file/issue Form 1099-MISCÂ (a tax form from the IRS) when IRS requires us to.

Please submit your cover letter and resume to submit@temptalia.com. Â Please indicate which type of data entry you would be most suited for (mainstream brands, indie brands, or foundation/concealer products). Â Resumes will be accepted until November 4th, 2016, midnight PST. Â We expect to make decisions shortly after but may be a few days, depending on volume of submissions.
Thank you so much!
Hi Christine,
Is this relevant to us citizens only?
Thanks, and again, kudos for the hard work!
Hi Noga,
It is not – if you are located overseas and are not a U.S. citizen, we just aren’t required to issue 1099s at the end of the year. For those working in the U.S. or are U.S. citizens, we are required to issue a 1099.
I was just about to ask, nice to see it already answered in the comments. Thank you! 😀
Hi, is this opportunity open to non US citizens? Canadian here and I would love to be able to apply for this job! 🙂
Hi AV,
Yes. We are just obligated to file and issue 1099 forms for U.S.-based (work done in the U.S.) and U.S. citizens at year end, so I like to make that clear upfront.
Hi Christine, do you only accept US citizens for application?
Just saw the response above. Great!
Glad you saw the response!
Hi Christine,
Do you have to be 18 to apply?
Thanks
Hi Angelia,
This is a good question, as I had not considered age, but based on some of the information regarding labor laws and minors and (particularly as I’m even less knowledgeable about labor laws outside of the U.S.), I will restrict it to 18+.
Good Morning, Christine! Are there specific hours the new employees need to work on a daily basis (i e, Monday, Weds and Fri. from 8-10am)? Or is it flexible where we can work nights and weekends to accomplish our tasks and complete the work by meeting a specific deadline you provide since we are working remotely?
The schedule/hours are flexible – nights, weekends, mornings, whatever 🙂 I’ll work with the person to create a schedule/set of deadlines as needed and as appropriate (depends on the brand and where we are in the process).
Great, thank you kindly for clarifying this information? Happy ?
I appreciate you asking! 🙂 Happy Halloween!
How cool! It would be so cool to say you work for Temptalia hahaha! Bragging rights.
Oh I would love to do this, I don’t even need the money, but it’s a great opportunity to help with the blog and work with you. But I already have a full time job and a never-ending one (a 3 yr old), so maybe when I retire or semi retire. But I’m sure you will find some good people and looking forward to the end results.

Great, thank you!
I’ve been doing freelance, home-based data entry for a medical marketing firm since September of 2014 and I’m wondering, is proficiency with Microsoft Excel an absolute must? The reason I ask is because I use a Mac, so I use (and am quite familiar with) Apple’s Numbers program in conjunction with FileZilla to download/upload spreadsheets to the firm’s server.
Hi Amber,
The .xlsx file is what we use with our database, so we have to work in .xlsx files as that’s what our system is set up to use. I’m not familiar with Apple Numbers (I’ve never used it), so I don’t know what compatibility exists between Apple Numbers and Microsoft Excel.
Thanks for the response, Christine! I use the .xslx file as well. My understanding is that Numbers is Apple’s Excel equivalent. I know that it is compatible with Excel spreadsheets because the firm I freelance for uses Windows-based computers and Microsoft Excel. I’ll update my resume and submit it because it couldn’t hurt to! ?
Great! 🙂 I figured there was some cross compatibility, but I’m a PC user myself. Whenever I use my husband’s Macbook when I travel, it’s like I’m in a foreign land 😉
Applied, I am not a make up artist and clearly have a very technical educational background, but would love to do something like this as make up is my hobby and passion. Thank you Christine!
Makeup artist definitely not required 🙂 Thanks for applying, Soumita!
Applied! So happy to see opportunity like this becoming open and available, where I get to really merge my hobby and work together! Look forward to see how this goes!
Thank you so much for applying, Fuji!
Will you provide the data that needs to be entered or will the workers be expected to scour the internet?
Hi Tracey,
We have docs that go through where/how to obtain the info, so it is mostly data entry and following instructions/procedures on how to organize data (e.g. how to label a formula, what shades exist in it, price, weight, and so forth). It’s like going to Too Faced’s website and looking up Born This Way and compiling the information they have available about the formula and shades available, but I provide the brands/products to add.
Hi Christine,
Will you be supplying the information to be cataloged or do the individuals need to research their respective areas?

I just sent my resume and cover letter. I think it is wonderful that you are choosing to turn to your readers to fill these positions!
Thank you for applying, Crystal!
Hello Christine,
Just to make sure,
Do the applicants need to work with coding as well?
Or is it strictly with Ms. Word and Ms.Excel only?
Thanks 🙂
No, code is not a requirement.
I just submitted my resume. Looking forward to hearing from you!
Thank you, Diane!
I am a criminal court judge and I would love to do this during my free hours. I already spend most of my spare time reading about skincare and makeup. It is sad how adult life can take you away from your passion, but when an opportunity like this presents itself, you get all excited 😀
I hope you will apply! 🙂
I just applied! Thank you for such an exciting opportunity! 🙂
Thanks for applying, Paige!
Application sent!
Great, thanks Carly!
Hey Christine..gigi here from LJ days ..wanted to comment on here and let you know I will be sending in my resume. This would be a perfect way to combine
My 2 loves.
Awesome, thanks Gigi!
Hi Christine,
I want to see if you’re still accepting applications for these openings. Being a stay-at-home mom, a make-up junkie and a huge fan of your blog, this would be like a dream job for me ?
Yes, until November 4th!
I am going to apply! This would be awesome!
Yay!
Sent! I work with data all day! Would love to work for you!
Hi Christine,
Such an exciting opportunity! Just wondering if you minded if the resume was a two page “non-American” format? I have one but I’m not in American and i have heard a CV is actually quite different from a resume in the US!
Thanks 🙂
A CV is fine, thanks!
Awesome opportunity! Thanks, Christine!
Thanks for applying, Kendra!
Applied 🙂 This would be an awesome opportunity because I love makeup and your website!
Thank you, Heather!
Hi Christine,
I just applied! This is such a unique opportunity and would be a dream job for me! Hope to hear from you!
Thank you for applying, Amanda!
Hi, just want to clarify the deadline – do you mean midnight 11/4 as in ~11:59pm on 11/3 (tonight) or 11:59pm on 11/4? Thanks!
11:59PM PST 11/4!
Just saw this and cannot wait to upload my resume. Makeup is my hobby and I love it. I am very proficient in excel, but do not have a background in makeup. I’m hoping that is not a necessity. Can’t wait to see how this turns out!!
Thank you for applying!
so excited about this opportunity! I applied today 🙂
Thank you for applying, Vidya!
Applied! Christine, thank you so much for this amazing opportunity!
Flavia (from Buenos Aires, Argentina)
Awesome, thank you Flavia!
My friends have been saying I’ve spent too much time on browsing makeups. Who’s laughing now ;P.
I just applied! Hope I can hear some good news from you 😀 Thanks you so much for this wonderful opportunity!
Great! Thank you, Simone!
I’m so glad to see that you updated your post. Thank you for that! I hope you’ll update once more to inform us when the positions have been filled.
My Beauty Mentor just forwarded your posting to me, I see that the due date has already lapsed. I have over 20 years in data entry & have experience working for some of the largest cosmetic brands in the world. I’d like to forward my resume, in hopes that you’ll need to find just one more person.
Thank you so much
Hi Kimberly,
Hopefully you’ll see any future postings, but due to the volume of applications, we are only considering those received before or by the deadline. Thanks for understanding!
Wow! What an overwhelming response! Thank you again for the opportunity. I think it’s wonderful that there are so many of us who would love to be a part of your team. 🙂
Wow, so many applicants! Glad you got a broad selection to choose from 🙂
Thanks for another update on your progress, Christine! It’s very much appreciated! 🙂
Agreed! Thanks so much for the update. 🙂
Thank you very much for the updates:)
