Have you ever truly regretted not purchasing something?

The only product that I can recall is Chanel Jade Le Vernis, which was many, many years ago, and I’m not really upset about it now but it was definitely “the one that got away” for awhile. These days, I think there are so many products coming out at all times that it’s easy enough to move on (plus, so many dupes).

I’m sure I have – a couple of LE/DC’d MAC eyeshadow singles, probably from Starflash and Mega-Metal. Dior’s Amber Diamond (I got Rose Diamond but when I went back to get Amber, they’d already pulled it from stores). Probably a few other items as well but nothing that actually troubles me!

Pat McGrath’s Decadence palette. The price tag was too much. I ended up getting some of her smaller palettes and was able to buy Bronze Seduction at a discount and love them all. What irritates me is she still has Decadence on her site, which is just a reminder of what I can’t buy.

I definitely missed out on the Mario palette by ABH. At the time I wasn’t into eyeshadows, but now I love that formula and I love the earthy tones in that palette. Thankfully there are plenty of dupes!

On a couple of occasions, I’ve regretted not buying a backup of a LE or discontinued item before it sold out or no longer sold. On the other hand, there are some items I’ve bought that I’d be really sad if I hadn’t bought them when I did because they were later discontinued, sold out, etc. But, all these occasions don’t happen very often.

Several things do come to mind :
1.) The holiday Guerlain snow globe perles in that had gold stars in it from several years ago. This was one that I’m still kicking myself for not getting it!
2.) Chanel had a beautiful, very perfect LE blush, the name of which fails me at the moment. It was embossed like a bow, I believe?
3.) MAC Jealousy Wakes. Worse regret now that I ordered Vibrant Grape from eBay and it wasn’t a counterfeit, I’m really wishing I would have bought it a few years ago.
And there are definitely several others. But I’m terrible with names lately. I just see how they look in my brain’s somewhat faulty memory bank!

Not really because there’s always new stuff. But maybe the Victoria Beckham Eye foils or Modern Mercury—I loved that packaging but bought nothing. I wasn’t into Estée Lauder at the time but I am now.

Only when I don’t buy something during a sale and some weeks later buying it for mor money. Especially when I wish to purchase something for my son who has a terminal illness

Christina, I’m not exaggerating when I say I looked and visited many a Chanel counter looking for Jade nail polish…a lot of the time the sales girls didn’t even know what I was talking about! Later Elsie made a dupe and the color never looked right on my skin tone ?

The Urban Decay Kristen Leanne lipstick in Bun Bun, because the color was pretty and my daughter’s nickname when she was little was Bun Bun ?. For some reason, even though it went on sale at several stores I hesitated and missed out and I’ve regretted it ever since.

No, I can find a facsimile for pretty much anything if I had to

Even then, I’ve never felt strongly enough about a makeup item to feel regret about not having it

For me it was the MetalMatte palette, but I don’t think I would have gotten much use out of it. I initially also regretted not getting the 20th anniversary TooFaced palette, but when it went on deep sale during the holidays, I still didn’t pick it up. I would have used it even less. Humans are attracted to shiny things because we biologically seek water. That’s my story and I’m sticking with it.

I’ve never regretted missing out on anything. There are just too many wonderful products being released to worry about missing out. No FOMO for me!

I really wanted the KVD Pastel Goth palette. I put it off, then the day I finally went to buy it was the day after it was removed from the KVD site forever. It had been removed from Sephora already. I can usually find dupes, but have not had luck finding dupes for the pink & purple in that palette.

No.

I drove all the way to Auckland to try and get Guerlain Cruel Gardenia when it was released here but it sold pretty much immediately. I was very sad and tragic about it for about 18 months and then unexpectedly found it at a Sydney duty free, promptly bought it even though my credit card was nearly at it’s limit due my trip to Australia – I used it maybe half a dozen times and then never touched it again, sadly. I don’t know why… it’s very, very pretty to look at but the packaging is annoying and it just isn’t actually that good?

I still remember how much I wanted it, how disappointed I was to miss out, how petty that felt and now I have it and it just wasn’t worth the drama. I got over myself pretty quick 😛

While I won’t shed tears for something related to makeup I’ll think about as a want not a need, merely a delightful and thrilling impulse to buy the pretty item but I did love the Bésame Snow White, and all Hourglass blushes after receiving for my daughter the highliter trio. I still would like to get one of the Too Faced in peach or pink blush in those chubby cute hearts but I did give one to my daughter so I did have the pleasure of holding the cute thing in my hands and she does like it! Bésame’s Snow White besides from being my favorite Disney movie is also the only Disney movie I was able to watch in my grandfathers theatre in my small town in Cuba before everything went down hill and we had to leave home & families behind. Now that’s worth crying for! Lol! ?
