Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder Brush (2014) Review & Photos
Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder Brush (2014)
Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder Brush (2014) ($42.00) is a short-handled, red-bristled brush designed to be used with Guerlain’s Terracotta Bronzing Powders. The brush head is 1.5 inches / 3.5 centimeters in length, 1.5 inches / 3.5 centimeters in width, and 1.5 inches / 3.5 centimeters in thickness. It had a total length of just over 4 inches / 10.5 centimeters with an open ferrule. The bristles are scratchy, and the brush, overall, is poorly cut–it’s just not even at all. I had shedding for the first four washes, but after that, it did seem to abate. I noticed some dye bled for the first three washes as well. At this price point, there are too many higher-quality options to consider this one (and there are more affordable options that are better, too).

I’m holding my breath and hoping that this means you’re about to review the bronzer! 🙂
As for the brush, it looks poorly made even in photographs.
It is a sad brush!
Guerlain blushes have always been a let down, for example the brush for the meteorites.
Such a great luxury brand could do better with the brushes!
I don’t know why they bother if they’re not going to do them decently. They’re not even decent!
I love that brush. I use it for Guerlain pearls, Chanel blushes, bronzers… It blends beautifully and it’s a perfect size 🙂

I touched this brush in stores, it was like you said, scratchy and poorely cutted.
Everytime i touched a Guerlain brush, i was désappointed.
I really dont understand why they are persisting to make this quality brushes. Better dont make them.
It’s frustrating that their quality dont match with the quality of it’s other products.
Xoxo

I agree – for a brand like Guerlain, it should be a well-made brush, because between the brand itself and the price point, it only hurts them.
Just from the pics I can tell that the brush looks extremely scratchy!
SO disappointed in it!
Who cares about the brush… what about… nudge nudge.. ;D
🙂
I completely agree, I was so disappointed when I had a look at this brush at the Guerlain counter. It looks so cute in the photos with its bright red hairs but running it along the back of my hand I was horrified at how scratchy and uneven the hairs looked. Not what I’d expect from Guerlain at all. This brush from Koyudo (not affiliated) is a bit more expensive but ten times better and more pleasant to use. Even the synthetic options from Real Techniques of Eco Tool feel nicer than this Guerlain brush.
Oh, yeah, synthetic brushes are way, way softer than this! You can definitely get a good brush that’s way softer with similar type of fibers, but synthetics have come a long way!
The only reason I’d want it is because it’s pretty and red. But that’s a silly reason, and I know that.
It’s sooo disappointing!
Looks like a red hot mess! 😀
Haha!
This sounds like such a waste lol
Completely!
Too bad this sucks, I liked the color!
It is prettily done!
It always really annoys me when they got to the trouble of putting a pretty handle on and tinting the bristles, and marketing it with a luxury product…and then it’s rubbish. Tell me how that needs to happen?!
I don’t know why, but Guerlain keeps putting out the same brush with the same poor quality 🙁
Ugh, it looks so scratchy! I can almost feel the discomfort on my skin just looking st it. Otherwise it’s nice looking though. I love the handle and I’ve always wanted a powder brush with red bristles.
Knowing what brushes your favor, your skin would run away, LOL.
Tarina Tarintino makes a beautiful pink-red brush. I just got it and haven’t really tried it yet but it seems well-made.
looooooooool I totally thought that was one of the new Wet n Wild brushes before I looked at the title. Wow. I wouldn’t expect red bristles from such an expensive brand.
LOL!
When I think of the great quality brushes from brands like It Cosmetics which are less expensive…this is a pass for sure.
Agreed!
It still surprises me to this day how Guerlain can make such poor quality brushes. I bought a pink bristled one like the one you had to be used with Meteorites and it was the worst quality ever. Super scratchy hair, shed lots, just terrible. It was pretty to look at and that’s about it. I ended up throwing mine out and I see nothing has changed, this was years ago. Terrible, they really should make an effort to make better brushes, such a waste.
Honestly, I don’t know why they bother at all. It reflects poorly on the brand!
Very pretty brush. But, I don’t want something that is going to bleed dye for 3 washing. I also expect a pretty well cut brush for this price. This is an example of paying for a name.
It’s really a bad brush, particularly at this price point!
It seems like the Guerlain brushes are just made to sit and look pretty!
LOL!
