Guerlain Royal Jungle Ombres G Quad Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Royal Jungle (940)
Guerlain Royal Jungle (940) Ombres G Quad Eyeshadow Palette ($85.00 for 0.2 oz.) includes four shimmery eyeshadows that ranged from softer, satin to brighter, more sparkly and metallic finishes. The color story was richer, warm-toned neutral hues. Three of the four shades were very pigmented, while one was sheerer, but they were all blendable, sat well on bare skin, and lasted around eight hours on me before showing signs of wear.

Formula Overview
-
The formula is supposed to have "intense pigments for long-lasting color" across four finishes: "intense satin," "deep matte," luminous metallic," and "radiant pearl." The majority of the shades were quite pigmented applied dry, but it seemed, by texture and look of the pan, to be a wet/dry formula to me, so I tried them damp as well. I didn't feel like using them dampened was necessary except for a few of the "radiant pearl" finish shades, which had more shimmer/sparkle.
The "deep matte" finish tended to have a firmer and more cream-like feel, so using a denser brush to pick up to apply and diffuse color was best, while the other finishes were more moderately-dense--firm but not stiff--and blended out well as they "melted" on my skin. The eyeshadows lasted around eight hours on me before showing signs of fading with a few getting closer to nine hours of wear.

If I’m ever going to plunk down $85 for a quad of of truly perfect looking eyeshadows, it would HAVE to be either something like this that I would wear quite regularly. It’s beautiful, has that “melted” into the skin effect that I love so much, and it would be used very often. I just might…
This is a lovely quad, with the exception of the dark brown shade for me. It has a cohesive colour story and the shades are beautifully pigmented, although shade 2 could have been a stronger goldy shade.
Hey, friend – look on the bright side….it could have been BLACK!!!
The description for color #4 is missing
Fixed!
The formula of these new shadows from Guerlain sounds really desirable and this looks like a stunner quad for autumn (a bit warm for me but I could make it work if someone forced this quad on me!). The price, though….if I wanted to buy it (I don’t as the shades I like are probably ones I can dupe), I’d have to give up putting gas in my car for a few weeks!
