Guerlain Neon Pumps (065) La Petite Robe Noire Lip Colour
Guerlain Neon Pumps (065) La Petite Robe Noire Lip Colour ($32.00 for 0.09 oz.) is a medium, fuchsia pink with blue undertones and a soft sheen. It had semi-sheer color coverage after two layers, so it seemed slightly sheerer than most of the shades I’ve tried in the range. It had a thin texture with barely-there sheen, and it was neither drying nor hydrating over the three and a half hours it lasted. Urban Decay Sheer Anarchy (DC, $22.00) is lighter (95% similar). L'Oreal Laminated Fuchsia (P, $9.99)(95% similar). MAC Quite the Thing! (LE, $17.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Gucci Beauty Wife vs. Secretary (602) (P, $42.00) is less shimmery, lighter, less pigmented (90% similar). Guerlain Cherry Cape (067) (P, $32.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC Lickable (P, $19.00) is darker, more pigmented (90% similar). Urban Decay Phone Call (LE, $18.00) is darker, more pigmented, warmer (90% similar). Urban Decay Sheer Anarchy (DC, $18.00) is lighter (90% similar). NARS 413 BLKR (P, $27.00) is more shimmery, less glossy (90% similar). Bite Beauty Bellini (DC, $24.00) is darker, more pigmented (90% similar). Smashbox Inspiration (P, $21.00) is more pigmented (85% similar). Guerlain Berry Beret (066) (P, $32.00)(85% similar). Guerlain Berry Beret (066) La Petite Robe Noire Lip Colour ($32.00 for 0.09 oz.) is a medium, fuchsia pink with subtle, blue undertones and a soft, pearly sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that covered evenly and smoothly after two layers. This shade wore well for four and a half hours and was lightly hydrating. The texture was lightly emollient, more like a lip balm, and thin without being clingy. Guerlain Pink Bangle (064) (P, $32.00) is lighter (95% similar). Bobbi Brown Hot Rose (DC, $37.00) is brighter, more pigmented (90% similar). Chanel Romy (462) (P, $37.00) is cooler (90% similar). Guerlain Cherry Cape (067) La Petite Robe Noire Lip Colour ($32.00 for 0.09 oz.) is a medium, fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a natural sheen. It had semi-opaque coverage after two layers, which is as described. The texture was smooth, balm-like, and glided on easily, though this particular shade seemed to have less shine than some of the other shades. The formula was lightly hydrating over the four and a half hours it lasted. The range has a few more fuchsia/raspberry pink shades, and on me, they seemed to run together and were harder to differentiate between. Guerlain Pink Bangle (064) (P, $32.00) is warmer (95% similar). Bobbi Brown Hot Berry (P, $28.00) is more shimmery, lighter, brighter (90% similar). Urban Decay Phone Call (LE, $18.00) is lighter (90% similar). Guerlain Neon Pumps (065) (P, $32.00) is lighter (90% similar). L'Oreal Lacquered Strawberry (P, $9.99) is glossier (90% similar). Bobbi Brown Tahiti (LE, $29.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). NARS 413 BLKR (P, $27.00) is more shimmery, brighter, less glossy (90% similar). MAC Quite the Thing! (LE, $17.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Revlon Cherries in the Snow (004) (P, $9.99) is darker, glossier (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Logan (P, $36.00) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). Chanel Romy (462) (P, $37.00) is darker, more pigmented (90% similar). Gucci Beauty Love Before Breakfast (403) (P, $42.00) is less shimmery, lighter, cooler (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Jessica (LE, $36.00) is lighter, warmer, glossier (90% similar). FORMULA OVERVIEW |
Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Lip Colour ($32.00 for 0.09 oz.) is supposed to be a “buildable, lightweight lipstick” with an “ultra-luminous” finish. They are deliberately scented to smell like La Petite Robe Noire, which is a sweet, fruity and floral fragrance–the scent is noticeable both in the tube and applied, though I do not notice it after about about an hour or so of wear (if you are sensitive to scent, I would consider trying these in person or purchasing with the ability to return). There was a somewhat soapy, sweet taste (it contains Stevioside, used as a sweetener) at times, particularly if I ate/drank with the lipstick on.
The coverage varied from semi-sheer to semi-opaque with a more stained-like appearance, as it wasn’t too slippery and had a natural sheen. Some of the shades run together, but they tend to look more varied once they are on the lips (and depending on the coloring of your natural lips, this may or may not be as apparent, particularly with pinker or redder lips). The sheerer nature of these makes it harder to know how they will look on against a mere swatch on the skin, and even from the tube-to-swatch comparison, they can look different.
They have a balm-like feel on the lips, and they tend to feel softer and melted as I applied them, but they weren’t too emollient or too thin or too thick. The formula wore between two and six hours on me with some of the richer, deeper shades lasted the longest, and it was lightly hydrating. As they’re a buildable formula (Guerlain describes it as one, two, and three-layer coverage), all swatches I did were using two layers. A couple of side notes: 1) the label is on the cap only, so if you take off multiple caps, it is possible to inadvertently put the wrong cap on the wrong shade, and 2) they can be less-than-ideal for storing, if you typically have yours vertical, as the flat-side has the label on it.

I like Berry Beret on you!
Thank you!
Thus far, I’ve only bought Berry Beet, but I’m surprised at how much I like the formula. I feel like it lives up to its claims better than most and gives me exactly what the description would lead me to expect. Is it a bad sign that I consider this a pleasant surprise? Glad to see your experience with BB was basically the same and I’ll have fun combing through the rest of your reviews on the formula.
I agree, Kate – it basically seems in line with what they intended. I do like how they were specific about 1, 2, and 3-layer coverage. It seems to be true with the majority shades, except for a few like My First Lipstick, which is sheer, period. (I’m sure that was as intended, but they didn’t indicate certain shades were just plain sheer.)
Berry Beret and Cherry Cape are my faves. I do like Neon Pumps though. It’s perfect for poolside or beach wear. Just a little extra color without looking like you’re trying. Kinda like a Fresh lip balm.
Out of the 3, I do really love how Berry Beret looks on you! On the other hand, you called it correctly when you said that they run together. They are super similar! With only Berry Beret having some real oomph that separates it from the other 2 just enough to make it look way nicer.
These are the 3 that I have and I agree with the comments. I love these for work as they don’t feather or smear, and I can reapply without a mirror. It took me a while to get past the scent, but now I love it.
I actually tried on Neon Pumps today. I am somewhat surprised seeing the swatch here because it looked full on neon fuchsia on my lips. BUT it is possible my lips were fuchsia stained from some other lipstick. I shall have to try it again. Either way I liked both the feel of the formula and the look of the lipstick. Might pick one of these lipsticks up at some point.
All these lipsticks look fairly similar and they are pretty for a summer look. Very pretty.
These are all pretty, but I just bought the Vice lipsticks in Sheer Anarchy and Phone Call, so I think I’ll pass! (Saved a few $$, too 🙂 )
Money saved! I like the UD ones better for packaging/lack of scent, lol.
