Guerlain Chamade (164) Rouge Automatique Lipstick

Guerlain Chamade (164) Rouge Automatique Lipstick ($35.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a pink-coral with a creamy, luminous finish that just looks juicy on lips. The color coverage is mostly opaque but there’s a translucency to it that gives it the really shiny look. MAC Ultra Darling seems rather similar, perhaps just slightly less opaque. Chanel Phoenix is brighter, slightly pinker, and more opaque. Chanel Genial is brighter and more coral.

The texture of Rouge Automatiques is lovely–it’s creamy without being slippery, lightweight but yields excellent color coverage without having to go back and forth five times, and always feels comfortable on the lips.  When I test drove the wear for Chamade, it went strong for five and a half hours before needing a reapplication after six and a half hours of wear.  For more packaging photos, please see this post.

I’ve been really into coral pinks, and this one looks really adorable! I love the juiciness of it! Will sneak into the department store to take a peek today 🙂 Thanks Christine!

Awesome shade Christine ! I have three colors fleur de feu , nahema and bal de Mai. I wanted to get this but didn’t . I might now. Too many good looking lipsticks in the last year though, Chanel enivree guerlain flier d’un jour , Chanel empire , Burberry lip mists , Dior addicts … I have been on a splurge mode !

It looks really nice on you.

Hi Christina. This looks gorgeous on you. I’m a big Mac fan. Practically every lipstick I own is Mac but I’m getting quite tired of reapplying. So what brand of lipstick, regardless of price, is long lasting? Or do you know of any tips to make the color last? Thanks

i have this! i’m still looking for a pink lipstick that just works on my nc45 skin without me having to warm it up with liner or another lipstick – but this one comes close. it looks just great on you btw 🙂

Hi Christina, really great review as usual. Can I just ask for a clarification about what you mean by ‘coral’? I’ve always struggled to understand what is meant by that particular colour range when it comes to makeup. I always equated it to ‘a colour with some element of orange’, but when I see your post, this just makes me think pinky-red. Please help! I’m so confused!

I approached my counter today, hoping to purchase a peachy pink color and walked out with this one. it turned out so cute and more red on me because my lips are so pink. i love it and i did promise the ma that i will wear it everyday because it is $45CAD (tax included, ouch!) I would still come back for more. I might get my first Rouge G too but it is more expensive and much heavier in weight.
