Guerlain Browny Clap (402) Gloss d'Enfer Maxi Shine Review, Photos, Swatches

Guerlain Browny Clap (402) Gloss d’Enfer Maxi Shine ($30.00 for 0.25 fl. oz.) is a medium brown with very fine white shimmer and subtle warm undertones. Urban Decay Glinda is similar–slightly more metallic. Bobbi Brown Bronzed Heather is darker, more mauve. Revlon Rosegold is more mauve. Dior Intimate Bronze has gold shimmer.

It has semi-opaque color coverage–there’s translucency that allows the natural lip color to come through–but enough color that it hides the majority of my lip freckle. The consistency is thin, non-sticky, and lightweight; it hardly feels like you’re wearing much at all. Browny Clap wears three and a half hours on me, which is shy of my four-hour average. This shade has more of a pearly finish, so it’s not as sparkly/shimmery as Cherry Swing, and it isn’t quite as shiny. The formula is hydrating and always leaves my lips feeling better than they did when I initially applied the gloss.

Does it have a scent? I absolutely love the color, but won’t buy it if it will give me a migraine (most Guerlain products do 🙁 )

Meh! I don’t get why cosmetic brands feel the need to add strong scents to makeup products. So many pretty and otherwise high quality products I have to stay away from because of this!

Who wants to apply browny clap to their face? Yuck to the name! Really Guerlain? Do we not proofread the names? I say pass on this one. I can just see my Mum asking me what I am wearing today. Oh, Mum, I have the browny clap. Gasp!

The clap is slang for gonorrhea, I know that because I am a gynecologist, but I think I first heard it on an episode of MASH when I was a kid!

Grr Nordstrom, it’s April already, where are they? 😀 (I’m not crazy about this one, but I loved the Cherry shade you reviewed a few days ago!)

Oh that name! Some translations turn out so awkwardly. This is one of them (or else things have really changed since I was a Brownie).

The wacky names make me think a chic French Existentialist philosopher is teaching us the lunacy of life through lip gloss.

As I said before this is a collection to order by number not name…as the names are the worst. I think this color is beautiful but not worth the price point!

OMG this is spectacular. The color is GORGEOUS–very “mlbb” and the shimmer is understated and pretty and the packaging is delightful…the only thing that I dislike is the name. Browny Clap? Anyone else think that’s totally hilarious?!! 😛 hahaha I think that has got to be THE worst name for a gloss I’ve ever heard. But maybe I have a dirty mind…

My mom REFUSED to buy NARS Orgasm for herself even though it looked really nice on her. She finally broke down and then bought me one too, lol.

I LOVE THIS COLOR! but I wish it wasn’t called “Browny Clap” …I’m not even going to say what it sounds like…lol

I really like the color though, it is my “type”. But the scent if not the price will scare me away, I’ll have to check out some of the dupes.
