Guerlain Berry Pink & Wine Red Rouge G Velvet Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches
Berry Pink (721)
Guerlain Berry Pink (721) Rouge G Luxurious Velvet Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a deeper berry with subtle, cool undertones and semi-matte finish. The texture felt smooth, lightweight, and more velvety as it glided across my lips comfortably but didn’t feel slippery.
It had mostly opaque, buildable pigmentation that adhered evenly and stayed on well for six hours. The product left a faint stain behind and felt lightly hydrating, though it did not last anywhere near the 16-hours promised.

Formula Overview

The new finish is described as a "velvet matte" with "exceptional softness, color depth" and is "long-lasting" with "16-hour comfort and wear." The color coverage is supposed to be "highly pigmented" and will "glide on effortlessly."
The majority of the shades available were highly pigmented, as marketed, with even, smooth coverage that wasn't prone to emphasizing lip texture, lines, or imperfections. The texture was smooth, moderately dense but not thick, so they felt lightweight on (but not clingy). Most of the shades--at the time of review--are more mid-depth or deeper, but the lightest shades I tested were a little prone to settling into my lip lines over time.
The big "downside" is that they don't wear anywhere near 16 hours; that would be a tall ask for any lipstick formula, let alone a traditional, bullet formula like this one. They have longer wear than average with many shades achieving six hours of solid wear with slight stains left behind. The formula was comfortable to wear and lightly hydrating overall.
They hare a floral scent that was noticeable applied to the lips, and I had slight taste of floral perfume when eating/drinking.
Please note, Rouge Gs are now refillable, so the price reflects the cost of the lipstick itself but not the lipstick holder (which is $37.50 and available in different designs). I personally keep mine with the refill-only cap, which is suitable for being kept at home but would not be ideal for someone who keeps it in their bag or travels frequently.

PPermanent. $36.00.
Wine Red (775)
Guerlain Wine Red (775) Rouge G Luxurious Velvet Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a deep red with neutral undertones and a matte finish. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, moderately dense, and more velvety consistency that was comfortable to apply and to wear on my lips as it was lightweight and not prone to emphasizing lip texture.
It lasted well for six and a half hours, left a soft stain behind, and was lightly hydrating over time. It did not wear anywhere near the 16-hours marketed, though, so the biggest reduction in rating came from that.

Too bad these are taking a UD direction….downward, that is.
Right? It used to be I always had a Guerlain stashed somewhere to go, but I have not purchased one in so long and ditched 90% of my stash before I moved because that faint chemical funkiness of older lipstick products makes me want to heave.
Both look decent. Thankfully, like many others with far too many lipsticks to explain, I have two fantastic dupes. Both MAC. Framboise Moi and Slay Ride.
Whoa does this look great on you.
Not exactly the best, is it?
They are beautiful but I have dupes, probably lots of them.
Reading through the dupes for Wine Red makes me wonder yet again why PmG DC’ed Major Red, it’s my favourite of all the lipsticks from the brand.
I also wonder why brands state such long wear time for lipsticks, are there any that lasts 16 hours?
