Guerlain Apres l’Ondee (100) Rouge Automatique Lipstick

Guerlain Apres l’Ondee (100) Rouge Automatique Lipstick ($35.00 for 0.12 oz.) is an opaque rosy pink with subtle champagne-gold micro-shimmer. The finish is frostier than many of the other shades of Rouge Automatique, but it’s still not a full-frost finish. I was quite surprised with how opaque this color ended up being, because it’s a rather light shade when you glance at it. While I tend to get longer wear out of this formula, this shade wears about five hours on me.

The formula is creamy without being thick or heavy, and it is actually a moisturizing formula. It’s soft and feels like silk when applied. I find these comparable to the Rouge G lipstick, though not as thick or as opaque, but still similar enough. They’re $11 cheaper than the Rouge Gs, and the colors still have the same depth and nuanced shade range that makes Guerlain lipstick always standout to me. To see more photos of the packaging, check out this post. I did not have any issues with the slider of this particular shade!

It’s a bit pinker than NARS Mayflower but not quite as red as Bobbi Brown Raspberry Pink. MAC Craving is a touch more plum.

At first glance, it seems like a warmer version of Kiss Kiss in Rose Miami. It looks darker on the swatch, but the shade colour looks absolutely perfect on the lips. I’ll definitely check this shade in person.

You look gorgeous!!! This color flatters your skintone and smile! Apres L’Ondee looks really similar to Chanel Etole but lighter and more frosty in the picture, doesn’t it? I think it’s warmer less pink than Etole but when I saw your swatch, I thought it was a dupe.

Hi Christine,
Can’t help but notice your photos for lip swatches (and the face section) has gotten even better! Can I ask how you do your lip swatches? (no flash? near a window sunlight indirectly?) thanks!

I use bounce and diffused flash, so it’s less harsh. I find natural light often mutes colors in a way that makes them less accurate in color/texture, though full-on flash can blow out colors, too. Natural light is the best but you really have to have perfect lighting (still working on that), but the diffused flash gives me the results that I find are as accurate as I can manage at this time.

I’m so glad you reviewed this one because this is the one I’ve been wanting to get from Karla’s swatches but it’s also like the only one that sephora doesnt carry.. =/ which is weird and upsetting..
