Gucci Cherry Nectar Sheer Blushing Powder Review, Photos, Swatches
Gucci Cherry nectar Sheer Blushing Powder
Gucci Cherry Nectar Sheer Blushing Powder ($49.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a warm, muted coppery red with a very delicate dusting of gold shimmer that gives it a satin finish. Tom Ford Beauty Contour (Softcore) (LE, $55.00) is lighter, more muted. MAC Glamour Feast (LE, $21.00) is cooler-toned, cream. NARS Soulshine #3 (LE, $29.00) is pinker. NARS Realm of the Senses #2 (LE, $29.00) is more shimmery. NARS Taos (P, $29.00) is very similar–a touch less red. NARS Seduction (P, $29.00) is cooler-toned. NARS Lovejoy (P, $29.00) is more muted, browner. MAC Hidden Treasure (LE, $21.00) is very similar. Illamasqua Allure (P, $26.00) is more muted. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
The formula is supposed to “softly illuminate” with a “veil of color.” The bullet point list calls out its “sheer texture” that “blends effortlessly” and has “buildable color.” The blush has an incredibly soft, silky, and smooth texture that feels like a luxurious powder product. It’s not at all sheer–it’s quite pigmented and would highly recommend a light hand and a feathery tool for application, even on medium and darker skin tones. A little goes a very long way, and in that aspect, it’s difficult to get just a “veil of color.” To get sheer color, I get the smallest amount on my brush, tap of excess, tap it once on the back of my hand, and then apply–otherwise it’s a pretty significant amount of color on my medium complexion! It may be a happy accident for some, but for those who prefer sheerer or more buildable formulas, this shade isn’t that (and neither was the other shade I bought, but maybe others in the range are sheerer/more buildable). It’s just not really in line with how they’ve described (and named!) the formula.
Applied, the finish was satiny but not shimmery or luminous, just not ultra-flat like a true matte finish would look. This shade didn’t blend as readily as you’d expect, given the texture, and for as rich and pigmented as it is, it would have been fantastic to have that superior blendability there. On me, Cherry Nectar wore well for eight and a half hours before fading. I didn’t notice any scent or fragrance to the powder.

I like the colour!
Yay!
That’s so pretty! I’ve been looking for a red that’s less orange than Exhibit A. This one’s a little pricey though.
Have you tried NARS Taos? It’s a little more shimmery, but they are rather close in color!
I haven’t! And I don’t mind shimmer, so I’ll definitely have to check it out. Thanks!
I feel so deflated with the poor rating. I was hoping these would be up there with other designer range quality.. I like this colour though… makes me want to give Nars Lovejoy a serious thought now!
If it just said it’s a pigmented blush, it would have been an A-, if that helps any 🙂
Everything seems to look so nicely put together ….
were I thought cool n warm looks best u turned up with this stunning look …
loving the lip color and blush n a pop of cool blue 🙂
Sorry but I know by now u are well aware what I m trying to say dear 🙂
Aww, thank you so much, Rashmi! 🙂
stunning colour, stunning packaging! but $49… ehhh 🙁
Totally understand! It’s definitely a splurge item!
Too warm for me, great show a shade but on my fair skin it would look true to pan.
I can definitely see this leaning too rusty-red!
I really like the colour, I must say. But at this price point, I’ll find a dupe! (maybe Taos? I’ve been eyeing that one for a while now)
Taos is very close – really just more shimmery!
Love this…Must procure!! LOL… 🙂
🙂
It’s gorgeous on you. Christine — what lipstick are you wearing with it?
THE MAKEUP LOOK
On face: Guerlain Parure de Lumiere Foundation, Urban Decay Naked Loose Finishing Powder. On eyes: Gucci Iconic Ottanio Eyeliner. On lips: Gucci Crushed Coral Lipgloss.
Maybe by sheer they mean translucent. Even though it looks pigmented it doesn’t look cakey and you can sort of see skin peaking through.
About five minutes of buffing to get it to look wearable on me, LOL.
Adore this color family. But, at $20 a pop MORE than Nars, think I’ll stick with the 2 dupes i have. One of the G 50 l/s in the pic: VERRRY nice on you, as well as your signature eyeliner. Ottanio looks pretty complex, not easily/exactly duped. Your skin is phenomenal!
This pigmentation is meant to be used with a Suqqu cheek brush.
At least this compact came with a brush.
I used it with Chikuhodo’s Z cheek brush, and it was still sooo intense, lol!
Very pretty blush and packaging. I do really like the color. It’s a shame it didn’t live up to its claims. Too expensive for me, either way.
It looks good on you. Too red for me, I think, and too pricey.
Thank you for posting the fragrance information on this! There have been times when I purchase a product and end up having to return it because I can’t stand the floral perfume that’s added to it. Nobody ever mentions fragrance though – it’s just assumed that the customer will be fine with it. I’ve had some perfumes (rose for example) cause my skin to heat up and itch so… it’s good information to have 🙂 Thank you!
I’m personally not fond of bright blush, but that looks gorgeous! I wonder if the other shades will live up better to the actual product claims, though. What do you think of the compact brush, Christine? If it’s not good it’s just a waste of space and kind of cheapens the palette to me.
Much as I like pigmented blushes, it’s a shame that this one doesn’t bend out so nicely. I mean, it’s too bricky/rusty for me anyway, I think, but I always get excited when I hear about lots of pigment in blushes, for some reason, LOL!
You’d think I wasn’t a vampire…
$49 for only 4.25 g?! Gosh, TF has 8 g for $56, or better yet, the cheek color duo is $77 for 20 G!!! (you listed it as $55, Christine! ) I already had both Softcore and Stroked, so…A big pass from me for this.
I was hoping this would be up there with TF Blushes. The color is nice for though could easily look overdone!
Christine, is the logo raised? Because it would be really pretty if it is.
Mostly flat – it’s more like embedded, so that you can feel where the logo begins and where the compact is, but they’re more aligned.
It’s a tricky color. It might make me look sun burnt… But it does look lovely on you! Can’t wait to see more of these blushes.
Looks beautiful on you Christine! Thks for the great review- I’m definitely interested in buying one of the blushes- but I’m going to pass on the intense colors. Seems I’m overloaded with Brites & super saturated pigments. I want something delicate for winter. Looking forward to your other reviews!
I love shades like this! This looks AMAZING on you, Christine! <3
I like how it looks on you, I doubt I’d be able to look OK wearing it. I might just have to try NARS Taos, just to check. 🙂
Pardon me, but I find that just awful! I’m biased, though. No, it’s horrendous. Street walker and my moms lipstick that made noise .. Simulators in color brings these to mind.. Oh, dear. I love me dark blush but I am not needing this, thank you for the review. You’re the cherry on top of a scary product that would look great as eyeshadow. 🙂 (pretty mug)
