Palette Ors Audacieux

Givenchy Palette Ors Audacieux Eye Shadow Palette ($63.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a new, limited edition holiday quartet that features four, shimmering shades. The formula is a wet/dry one, where wet application increases the “density and brilliance.” For the most part, I did not notice significant differences between dry and damp application, except with the third one, which had the most glitter. I could see this working best with other shades in one’s stash, like a few matte shades, perhaps a black or deep brown for more contrast, as it could use more contrast for greater versatility.

Palette Ors Audacieux #1

Palette Ors Audacieux #1 is a bright, yellow gold with warm undertones and a metallic finish and fine silver sparkle. It was intensely pigmented both wet and dry, and when I used it wet, it seemed to be a little more metallic and almost “cooler” (just barely). The consistency was soft, smooth, and blendable on the skin, but there was some fallout after eight hours of wear (but the color itself held up well otherwise).

Palette Ors Audacieux #2

Palette Ors Audacieux #2 is a medium-dark taupe brown with warm undertones and a frosted finish. It applied the same both wet or dry, as it was quite pigmented! The eyeshadow’s texture was soft, a little dusty, but it adhered well to bare skin and lasted for eight hours before creasing faintly.

Palette Ors Audacieux #3

Palette Ors Audacieux #3 is a brownish coral with warm, orange undertones and gold glitter. This had a more noticeable difference between dry and damp applications–it was sheerer and had a looser texture dry, which resulted in a lot of the glitter falling out during application and not adhering to the lid at all. When I used it with a damp brush, it was mostly opaque and more of the sparkle translated to the lid, though I still had some fallout by the end of my eight-hour test.

Palette Ors Audacieux #4

Palette Ors Audacieux #4 is a medium, orange-copper with warm undertones and a pearly sheen and fine, gold glitter. Applied dry, it had a very odd consistency–dry, loose, gritty–and some areas were redder and others were more orange. When I applied it damp, the texture was smoother, and the eyeshadow applied more evenly with a stronger gold tone. It was the hardest shade to work with in the quad, and it was one that seemed to look a bit different each time I used it. The color lasted for eight hours but had some noticeable fallout.

The shimmery finish looks great here, esp. for #3. It’s too bad they didn’t throw in a dark brown in matte or satin, but the shades would be great if paired with another palette

This is a weird little quad. For a start, the gold shade is way too gold – no subtly about it. And the last two shades are really quite similar in colour, although they are not meant to be. The only shade I like was the brown one, of which there are many, many dupes. A beautiful eye look Christine.

What an interesting quad! I think what makes it very unique among holiday collections, the shade selection, is also its downfall, as most people will find that it lacks a few basic shades to be used on its own. I think it could be great for a metallic, gold centered party look though!
