Givenchy Candide Garden (78) Le Prisme Eyeshadow Quad Review, Photos, Swatches
Givenchy Candide Garden Eyeshadow Quad
Givenchy Spring 2011: Candide Garden
Givenchy Candide Garden (78) Le Prisme Eyeshadow Quartet ($56.00 for 0.14 oz.) is easily one of the best quads I’ve seen Givenchy put out that I’ve had the pleasure of testing. Candide Garden is stunning in its color combination and a joy to swatch.
This quad contains a rich, medium-dark chocolate brown with a satin finish; soft, burnt orange with a flashy golden orange shimmer-sheen; soft, pale peach with a satin sheen and pale peach-gold micro-shimmer; and a light yellowed chartreuse with a soft frost finish.
The shades work well together, and there is something about the overall combination that is unexpected. None of the colors feel too warm, which is uncommon in oranges, peaches, and chartreuses. Even the brown seems more neutral, because sometimes it looks cool-toned but other times, warm. The only downside to this quartet is the amount of product you get–a mere 0.14 oz. for the $56 price tag.
my thoughts on the formula: Soft, finely milled eyeshadows apply smoothly and blend effortlessly. You won’t find chunky shimmer or powdery fall out in these shades. Each shade was nicely pigmented.

Somehow I imagined that peach would be more pink. I think I may be giving I’m not a huge orange fan, but I think that orange is pretty. <3
That is stunning! Even though I am warm I’m going to purchase this one. Just gorgeous and I was complaining earlier about not enough peach or orange in the spring collections.
I’m really surprised how much I love this… but I’m not surprised how much my wallet doesn’t haha. That orange is so pretty!
Totally agreed. I couldn’t have said it better myself!
Hmmmm no, I love Givenchy e/s, but this is definitely a big NO for cooler skintones (as mine). I’ve already tried it in the shop, it looks dreadful for pale pink skin.
I need to get my hands on this! Just need to save up some $$$ first 🙂
I’m warm so I suppose I could wear these but frankly I look terrible in orange/lime/brown and usually they honestly look good on about 1% of women. Sorry to anyone who says they love them, they can count themselves in the 1% & I’d never tell anyone different. But secretly I think it looks pretty awful on most so IMO use caution on these shades.
I can’t imagine that these shades would be flattering on anyone but the darkest complected. I shudder to imagine swatching them on my pale skin! This is a definite miss for me.
Though I loved the swatches and they surprised me in a good way – I was expecting lime green and it looks more pale yellow gold – secretly I also keep wondering how I’d ever pull the orange off among other colors.
That golden-yellow shade is so beautiful!
Why does it last only 6 months though?
Having worked in a Quality Control laboratory for pharmaceuticals, the 6 months label is *most* likely a shortened expiry precaution (legal responsibilities for the manufacturer) for excessive microbial growth after first use. Chances are, your shadows can last for a full year after first use before it reaches excessive microbial growth to the point of posing dangerous risk to your eyes, if you keep your makeup brushes relatively clean. In my experience, I’ve never had normal powder eyeshadow “expire” on me (even in about 2-3 years, face powder too – I just finished a MAC Select Pressed Powder after ~5 years on and off with no problems) …but I would suggest caution for the “creamier” shadows and more finely milled powders because there’s more chances for increased moisture, air circulation and/or surface area that may encourage microbial growth. Keep your brushes clean and store your makeup in drier + cooler areas (away from high humidity areas like bathrooms that are used for showers/baths) and there shouldn’t be problems. I say this because to speed up the expiry testing in one of my previous QC labs (e.g., a 16 month shelf life = 8 months in that humid hot fridge), we set the fridge to about 40 degrees C (standard procedure and it felt like my bathroom after I take a shower haha). Hope this helps.
This is the first Givenchy quad I’ve been even remotely interested in. The colours are fantastic. Still not enough for me to spend $60 on, but pretty nice. But I have all of those colours in brighter, more complex analogues in my shadow pigments from Fyrinnae. Still, very pretty.
This is stunning!!!! Must have for sure!
I certainly don’t need to “get into another brand”, but that is one gorgeous palette. Definitely gonna have to check it out. Thanks for the pics and review!
I love Givechy, but I’m still on the fence for this palettes. I’m not sure I can pull off orange eyes. Will you do a look using this palette later on Christine?
I wish the pink and green packed a little more punch, but I like the color combination in this quad. The orange is a bit warm, but workable. This cool-toned, fair, pink-skinned girl could definitely rock this quad! And I’m sure that goes for a lot of people. 🙂
Looks a bit like Chanel Nymphae to me…hmmmI like the consistency of Chanel better I think
Just fantastically gorgeous … must try this !!
I didn’t initially like the colors, but when swatched, they are quite pretty!!
I’m very fair but someone of my favorite shadows include Paradisco and Straw Harvest. Poo to those who think peachy-oranges aren’t wearable. You can wear anything. It’s all in how you wear it.
Hey Christine,
Can you make a look with this palette? I bought it but i kind of regret because it looks too pale on my skin tone. I am olive skin, medium tone, but i couldn’t pull the colors off. May be i am doing something wrong 🙁
Love your site,
Kisses from Brazil 🙂
Givenchy doesn’t usually release products that interest me, but this looks gorgeous and I can see it working across a range of skin tones. I feel like the peach & orange tones would look quite striking against blue eyes as well, even if used as just accent colours.
56 BUCKS FOR THIS QUAD!? ohmyguh that’s kind of crazy. But the colors are beauuuuts
Love this colors right now. Would you be able to do a tutorial on this for like a spring look? It’s so pretty 🙂
pretty! I could see this working on me, but the price is not worth it. 60 for 4 eyeshadows is asking a lot
