Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I bought some Dr. Jart+ BB Cream for my mom, but I don’t think there was much else that I picked up in the past week! I have Lethal Cosmetics’ new collection along with ColourPop’s latest collections (actually, the last two) that I’m hoping to photograph/swatch tomorrow.
Weekend plans: Photograph/swatch/edit photos and write up reviews! I need to tackle some longer, eyeshadow palette reviews that I’ve been procrastinating on. My Yogis (four foster pups) are doing better over the last two days, though they were a bit up and down earlier this week. Tree is still being watched, but he’s on some antibiotics now and I’m giving him a calorie supplement between feedings to see if that helps him feel better.
Who was the last person to inspire you? My mom, because no matter how busy she gets, she will still drop everything for her baby girl. ðŸ˜
Psst… since it’s Friday and we’re heading into the weekend, if you have some downtime, consider playing one of the games hubby and I have created! 🙂 You’ll find all of our games on Awordy, but here’s a breakdown of what we have so far:
- Adoptle (guess the name of an adoptable pet in six guesses)
- Concludle (figure out the subject within six clues)
- Mislettered (guess one letter at a time to figure out the phrase/quote)
- Word Frenzy (find as many words from the letters available before the shark devours them)
This week's doggo photo/video...

I’m loving the puppy updates!
RECENT PURCHASES:
ColourPop Lost in Wonderland Palette, Oh Dear! Pressed Powder Blush, Lux Lipstick in Lioness, and Créme Gel Liner in Plum Smash.
WEEKEND PLANS:
My husband is coming back from his business trip tomorrow morning. Tomorrow is my sons’ roommate’s birthday, so we’re going to take him out to dinner.
WHO WAS THE LAST PERSON TO INSPIRE YOU?
My kids are my constant and only inspiration.
I’m dying at how fluffy they look 😠I have been sending some of these reels to my mom.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Just got DHC Mild Lotion, Mild Soap, and Deep Cleansing Oil.
Weekend plans: Because of my travel I feel a bit behind, so it’s a work catch up weekend for me!
Who was the last person to inspire you? A friend of mine just wrote an article about how to ferment your own soybeans! I love watching ambitious women chase their dreams, and seeing her go from being an overworked corporate lawyer to being an in-house counsel/part-time food writer is so cool to me 🙂
Recent purchases/rediscoveries: found MAC Powersurge eye kohl for less than half price so snapped that baby up! They also had a NARS Kauai duo (I already have one but for the price I was going to get it and either keep it or give it to my daughter) sealed with security tape that had been peeled off. So I found a clerk and asked if I could open it to make sure it hadn’t been smashed or otherwise wrecked and she said “sure”. Well, there were 2 very slight fingerprints, one in each pan and I commented on it and the clerk said “oh, we can’t tell it to you then – it’s a health and safety issue”. I said “but I’m not bothered by it” and she said “Nope, can’t sell it” and so, of course, I was kicking myself for even mentioning it! I also got some Avene facial water spray. The clerk was just putting out some MAC Breath of Plum blushes (again, deeply discounted) and I nearly bought one and then thought “I’ve more blushes than I can finish in 2 lifetimes” but, of course, now I’m thinking of going back and getting it if it’s still there next week (I don’t think it will be).
Rediscoveries: the Tarina Tarantino Emerald Pretty palette and Nars Old Church Street duo (I’m wearing that today).
Weekend plans: gym tomorrow and then a visit to daughter, son in law and baby (we’ll bring lunch or pick up pastry treats – whatever they wish). I have a bubble machine and a really cute summer overall for grand-daughter that matches the dress one of her stuffed toys is wearing! Sunday, a baby shower for my best friend’s daughter.
The last person to inspire me: a young teacher I work with who has a class of developmentally delayed students. Her creativity, devotion, the work she puts in and the amazing knowledge she has are truly an inspiration – she gives so much to her job. And my daughter – seeing the happy, energetic, fun mom she is with her daughter leaves me in awe. Mind you, I don’t know how she’ll cope when it’s time to put her baby into daycare. I think L will find it real agony.
Boy, did they grow! Almost full-fledged STEAKS! And little Skirt is still so perfect!
Purchases/rediscoveries: One last order with Sephora Rouge Sale where I FINALLY bought something that’s been on my WL for literally YEARS ever since you reviewed all of those revamped Dior Quint eyeshadow palettes: Dior Tutu!
Received my two Rare Beauty Lip Oils in Serenity and Joy (I think I put those in last FF&CI’s?).
Weekend plans: Zoom meeting tomorrow morning, perhaps a swim after. Need to get a load of laundry done, and hopefully have enough energy to deep clean my bedroom carpet with the shampooer I bought last year.
Who was the last person who inspired you? My gastroenterologist! When I went to see him this past Tuesday, I divulged what my lawsuit against a RTC was all about and in graphic summary, asked him whether he believed that there was a causal link between the fact that I have many autoimmune diseases and if there was any concrete information that ties those to PTSD from serious childhood trauma. He recommended a book that provides insight and real answers: The Body Keeps The Score by Bessal Van Der Kolk, M.D.
Having just read the prologue and roughly 20 pages so far, I know for sure that it does.
Nancy, I have a son with PTSD from serving as a combat medic in Afghanistan. Do you think the message in that book would also pertain to his experience? If you think it would be helpful, I will either tell him about it or purchase it for him. Thanks in advance.
Susan, I absolutely do believe that this book would help your son to gain insight on exactly what changes PTSD, whether from seeing and experiencing combat/war/conflict related trauma or any other very serious traumatic experience, makes to not only our brain chemistry/wiring, but also the myriad of physiological and relational aftereffects that it produces. Yes, I wholeheartedly recommend this book!
There is no doubt in my mind that childhood trauma causes lifelong health issues and messes with our immune systems. I’ll have to check out that book, as well.
I hope the lawsuit is progressing well.
Rachel – this book is an affirmation to something that I have long thought about: does trauma, especially physical or sexual, change a person’s physiological BEING as well as their psyche? It undoubtedly does.
Sounds very interesting.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I haven’t bought too much makeup lately, so I’ve been experimenting with one-and-done eyeshadow looks. Really enjoying Bobbi Brown Shadow Sticks for that, and they don’t seem to wear off in patches.
Weekend plans: chill with my husband tonight and get takeout. Tomorrow we have tickets to the local HS production of Phantom of the Opera, which I’m excited to see. I still know some of the kids in the cast, even though my own children are done with school. It will be a sad day when everyone has grown up and I no longer recognize any of the actors!
Who was the last person to inspire you? I have a fellow teacher who runs some of my races with me, and is very good. He ran the half marathon with myself and a few others, and I was able to pace myself off him and really push my limits. I so hope he runs our next half marathon in October, so I can race him again!
Aren’t the puppies gorgeous? They have grown up so much and are looking so healthy too. I hope Tree is getting better.
Recent Purchases: Still waiting for my Party Mix lipstick to arrive from CP. Other than that -nada.
Rediscoveries: Still using a lot of Pixi Beauty’s Reflex Light palette
Weekend Plans: I have just received news from my insurance company regarding my beautiful cornflower blue Honda Jazz car – it’s being declared a right off and they have offered me a price. You can negotiate with them regarding the offer – so this weekend will be about looking for a replacement car. All I know at the moment is that I don’t want a car that is too big or small. And not in black, white or grey shades. My big, bad bruise is finally healing.
My twin sister is having a meeting with an oncologist next week to determine the next step in her breast cancer treatment. It will be decided then whether she undergoes chemo treatment and then ray treatment or just ray treatment. She is hoping for no chemo, but it will be up to the specialist on the best way forward for her. Her wound is healing well and she is getting out and about, which is great news.
On Friday I caught up with a group of teachers that I used to work with and it is alwayys lovely to catch up with them. Most of us have grandchildren the same age as ours, so it is great to see how they are all growing.
The person that most inspires you: My sons – because both of them have grown up to be wonderful men who are kind, caring and compassionate people. My eldest son is widely respected in the company he works for and is a talented senior system analyst and a wonderful uncle to our grandchildren – calm, confident and very caring.
My youngest son, father to tnree – soon to be four children is a sensational dad and has a great sense of humour, and again, greatly respected and liked at his work place. He is a very involved parent and a loving son.
Please keep us (or me) updated about your twin sister’s health. I hope that however her treatment moves forward, she has a truly positive outcome and a full recovery/remission.
Very good and welcome news to read that your sister is healing up nicely and quickly, Genevieve!
Hopefully you can find a vehicle just as nice as your beautiful Honda Jazz, and definitely in a really cool color like that, too! Car accidents are just awful to deal with. Especially all the aftermath.
I just loved seeing these babies progress. Thank you so much for caring about rescue creatures.
Adorable updates.
RECENT PURCHASES: the Nomad $2 eyeshadow sale got me!
WEEKEND PLANS: See a friend I haven’t seen a few months!
WHO WAS THE LAST PERSON TO INSPIRE YOU? My friend who is succeeding with her own business venture.
