Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Rose Inc blushes/highlighters/bronzers, Sephora lipsticks, Guerlain quads, Dior quints

Weekend plans: MRI confirmed that I fractured my hamate (a wrist bone), but I won’t have real clarity until Tuesday, when I go to my follow-up with the orthopedic surgeon, so I’m just trying to get as much work done in anticipation of potential down time in the future.

Do you do any volunteering? I haven’t done much in the past, but I recently fostered two puppies, and I want to continue to volunteer with the organization.

P.S. — Want to chat with readers on the regular? Check out Temptalia’s Discord where you can chat about beauty, makeup, and more! 🙂

P.P.S. — Check our hubby’s site for video gaming guides — good if you (or someone you know or your kids!) is into gaming, including crosswords and Wordle. Plus, I worked with hubby to develop our own games! You can check out the games we have at Awordy, which include Concludle (trivia) and Adoptle (figure out the name of an adoptable pet in six guesses), and Mislettered (figure out the quote by guessing letters).

Recent Purchases: Colourpop Blush Crush; Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lipcolor in Enigmatique; Westman Atelier Lit Up Highlighter in Nectar

Weekend Plans: Organizing my bookshelf! It’s a mess!!!!

Do I volunteer? Yes, though my church. I used to volunteer even more before chronic pain became an issue.

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Nothing new.

Weekend plans: Just the usual things, I might drop on Sunday to a local Jazz festival.

Do you do any volunteering? I used to volunteer more in the past, but unfortunately I haven’t been involved in anything in the past years.

Because hand injuries can be so limiting, something I know all too well, I’m really hoping that the bone will heal up with just a soft brace and giving it some rest. ❤️‍🩹

Purchases/rediscoveries: Just the highly touted by many YT’ers Elf Brow Bite Size in Deep Brown. I used it last night for a Zoom meeting and it’s just okay. I believe that it best suited for those with more dense and evenly dispersed than my sparsely and unevenly outlined brows. Going to try it again today when I get ready for going downtown for my remicade infusion and see if it works better with a full eye look.
Been swatching EVERY blue/brown duochrome eyeshadow in my stash looking for a dupe for PML VRSextasy. Might have found it in CP Sonic Bloom palette last night! A palette that I guess I forgot all about.

Weekend plans: Remicade infusion this early PM. Might hit Ulta on Camelback and 20th St. late afternoon/early evening? Idk.
Tomorrow, listen and watch the Sunday morning portion of our annual Convention of JW’s. Sunday funday! Go for a deep swim.

Do you do any volunteering? Not much these past 2½ years, but now that our door-to-door witnessing will begin again soon, I look forward to doing so again. My handwriting and even printing is so pathetic that I just never got into our letter writing witnessing. And so I’ve just been sharing enlightening and upbuilding Bible verses on Facebook from my nightly readings.

Thanks, Genevieve! Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get to Ulta afterwards due to severe thunderstorms and flooding over that way. Very odd that where I was, which wasn’t all that far away, did NOT get the crazy weather! The storm just fizzled out and headed northwest. We have very bizarre stuff go on with our monsoon weather, that’s for sure. My old neighborhood over in south Scottsdale literally got HAMMERED!, though! And Lord only knows what happened in north Scottsdale, because it honestly looks like a tornado hit it.

Recent purchases: Urban Decay Naked3 Mini eye palette and Gucci Flora Gorgeous Jasmine perfume. Both will be perfect for my upcoming weekend trip. I also did a Back-to-MAC and got a fresh tube of Faux lipstick because my old one went bad.

Rediscoveries: Viseart Liaison eye palette. I bought it a couple years ago, but only used it once. I like the matte shades in this palette, but the shimmers are too sparkly for me.

Weekend plans: Starting to plan what to pack for my weekend trip.

Do you do any volunteering? Before the pandemic, I used to belong to a group that served lunch at a homeless shelter once a month. I also used to volunteer to help dogs get adopted through a local rescue.

Seraphine Avatar

I love jasmine, mandarine, sandalwood, and patchouli, so I was pretty sure I’d like this one. Gorgeous Gardenia was a total scrubber for me because it was sickly sweet, but I really like Gorgeous Jasmine a lot.

RECENT PURCHASES:
Melt Muerte Palette, Liquid Lipsticks in Superheat and Poser, and Illuminación Highlight (GWP). Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen. Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant.

WEEKEND PLANS: Grocery shop and pack our camper for next week’s trip.

DO YOU DO ANY VOLUNTEERING? I haven’t done any official volunteering in a long time, but I often help friends with information, filling out forms, etc. having to do with mental health, autism spectrum disorders, special ed, and the like.

Genevieve Avatar

I hope you have an enjoyable time away Rachel. Where are you going?
And I am sure that you are most helpful to those who need it regarding the myriad forms that are required to get any kind of assistance for themselves or their children with special needs too.

We’re camping on the Oregon Coast: Lincoln City, Astoria, and Newport. Younger son’s girlfriend’s birthday is next week, and she’s never been camping.

I found out an old family friend is living in Lincoln City, and I’m excited to have her meet my son and his GF. We lost track of each other, but reconnected when my mom died. I consider her an aunt.

Thank you for your kind words. Some good people helped me with navigating the system when my kids were younger, and I try to pay it forward. There’s not as much help out there as people assume, and I frequently found myself more knowledgeable than then the people we were sent to for help.

OMG – that is so, so sweet! Winnie is being very patient and loving towards the little puppies – and they are just adorable. I bet they love lots of cuddles too.
As for your hand – oh Christine, what rotten luck you’ve had with your hand and arm over the past few months. Just take your time with the blog and I hope you are not in too much pain from your fracture.

Recent Purchases: Just waiting for my SG orders to ship in and I recently purchased two more jars of A’kin’s Day and Night moisturising cream that I love, which was on sale.

Rediscoveries: ND’s Glam and Maybelline’s Burgundy Bar palettes. Shiseido’s Sleeping Dragon lipstick.

Weekend Plans: Our house is pretty clean since we didn’t have our grandchildren over last week due to Covid. My son and grandson tested positive for Covid last weekend, yet the sickest of all of them – Olivia and her mum were both negative. So they were all isolating last week. I dropped around some homemade goodies for them (at a safe distance) and it was sweet to see the little ones waving to me through their lounge room window. All are better now. I got myself tested and I was negative too.
So for this weekend, it’s about some grocery shopping and going for a drive on Sunday.

Do you do any volunteering? At the moment, no – because I am so involved with my younger son’s family and we babysit Harry three days a week whilst his mum works as a kindergarten teacher. But I would like to in the future.

Genevieve Avatar

Thank you Sarah for your kind wishes. Their cases of covid were very mild. Lachlan just had a bit of a cough and runny nose, which he got over very quickly and then spent the rest of his isolation time being bored and wishing he was at school! My son had a few aches and pains, but nothing major at all. All were fully vaccinated so that kept the worst of the illness at bay.

Helene Avatar

First of all, I hope you’ll not need surgery for your fracture, and that it’ll mend quickly.
Second, Winnie and puppies = adorable!

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Waiting for my order from CP, I got the wrong one, and had to submit all kinds of photos and information, two items weren’t available anymore, but I got a voucher code.
I bought a back up for MAC Syrup as mine seem to be getting on in age and will need to be replaced.
Ciate had a sale and I bought Marbled Light Illuminating Blush in Bloom (deep pink), Editor Palette in Aspen it’s a nice mix of blue, green, light pink and brown with a lovely grey shimmer (the only shade I’ve used so far).
finger swatches were lovely, swatches with a brush not as good, but it’ll probably be OK as I always use primer.
I also bought a strengthening nail polish and a very neutral polish, Iced Frappe.
Rediscoveries, no, nothing I can recall.

Weekend plans: Same old. Garden and house, dog as every day, I love our walks, though it’s a bit too hot outside for both of us, he has a cooling blanket, and gets to take a quick bath in the ocean almost every day.
I have bought some plants I need to plant, so a lot of digging is in my future. some roses, I love them so much and also three clematis plants, thyme of some kind and a lovely pink Alum Root.

Do you do any volunteering? No, I don’t. Before I got ill I worked a lot and was way too tired and now I can’t do anything organized as it has a bad impact on my mental health.

Genevieve Avatar

It’s always lovely when a decent sale comes on and you get a few products that you’ve been eyeing off for awhile. I just looked up the Editor’s palette in Aspen – and it is beautiful. I think you will really enjoy using it.
I hope the weather cools off for you soon, as you’ve experienced a very hot summer I believe. Do you live near an ocean Helene? That would be lovely. Take care.

Helene Avatar

I live very close to the Baltic Sea. It’s not a real huge ocean, but we like to think of it as one.
I would love to live by the Pacific Ocean or the Atlantic, but I never, ever thought I’d be able to get a house just around 75 meters from the shore. We don’t have tidal water, but we have low and high water, and when it’s high it can be as close as 2 meters from my backside fence.
You must be used to the heat, living in Australia, we aren’t used to it as it’s generally only really hot for very few days, and then we either love it, or complain about it being so warm! I’m in the complaining group. 🙂
Winters here are not very cold, but they are damp so they feel very cold, but then we can add layers of clothes, and complain about how chilly it is.
I really fell for Aspen, I love the coolness of the colours. I’m wearing blue eyeshadow today, something that rarely happens, I used a CP quad, called something Sapphire. It didn’t play so well with the primer, so it’s not the sheer wash I imagined, but I kind of like it anyway.

Winnie is the best guy for puppy socialization. Those puppies adore him. As proud as you feel now, imagine how you will feel when they graduate from assistance/ emotional support training and start being the owner’s mainstay. One grand fellow giving a start to the most important dogs in the world. Please baby your hand/arm while progressing through PT and pain clinic. Your well being is more important to us than any of your brilliant career. Muse noted an Armani sale at 40%. You provided my shade choices and had made me covet the LLs forever. Considering my stash of l/s may not make it through my unfulfilled move, I ‘justified’ these. There are some perfect Genevieve colors. Too bad there aren’t Muse alerts and Armani sales down under. I have earned lines and skin condition based perioral lines that make me grab for the mask, but these things don’t budge until a hamburger. Solidly impressed. W/e never changes, except I hope to go in the ocean. Volunteer? Not now, but I spent many years as the Sunday bird person at New England Wildlife. Stuff like putting subcu fluids in a conscious seagull, feeding swifts that hung on a bib like a living necklace and were fed from the underneath, tube feeding raccoons. Never try that at home or alone. Nightmare. Escaped red squirrels not catchable and jumping all over you. The best part was when the birds, mostly babies, were finally free from the pre-release enclosure. It’s magical to have woodpeckers, bluebirds, etc. fly to you for a feeding.

Armani lipsticks are sold at Sephora Aus kjh, but at an absolutely horrendous price and I am now going to look at their website. So many brands don’t ship internationally these days and we never really get the sales that you get. Thank you for thinking about my colours kjh!
