Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I’m writing this the week before, so if I remember, I’ll update if it changes… but I am not anticipating any purchases this week.
Weekend plans: We need to do some gardening, mostly adding supports and trimming all my rose shrubs and trees along with my orchid trees, which just finished blooming.
What’s your favorite animal? I love dogs and camels. I think camels really show how specialized animals can get to be able to live in extreme conditions.

Recent Purchases: lip balm lol
Plans for the weekend: I am having a procedure on Wednesday so I have to get ready for the trip and, most importantly, choose a book for the train ride. Oh, and make sure my blood sugar stays in check!
Favorite animal: Domesticated? DOGS!!!!!
Wild: Elephants!!!!!!!
I hope the procedure goes well Sarah and that you aren’t in a lot of pain afterwards. Hopefully your blood sugars will be OK too – sometimes worry and stress can affect them.
Is the hospital far away from you?
Itโs a relatively simple procedure-just an injection. My sugars are great right now but I have to travel about 90 minutes by train to get there and I worry about making the trip for nothing. Because while it is simple it is crucial to my well being and ability to live in less pain.
I hope the injection works Sarah because it’s not much fun living in pain…..
I hope all goes well for you!
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: nothing ๐
Weekend plans: I may run some errands by myself tomorrowโhopefully hit up Ulta. Sunday I guess is Motherโs Day? It came out of nowhere! I plan on doing nothing and being left the heck alone ๐๐๐ฅฐ
Whatโs your favorite animal? Obviously dogs ๐ญ esp big dogs. Otherwise I really, really like foxes too! We call ourselves the fox family lol and we laugh a lot so I call us the gigglebox foxes ๐ oh and our wi-fi name is The Foxhole. I think Iโve gone too far lol!
Hmm – three little kids and wanting some peace and quiet? Who would’ve guessed Joyce?
I hope your Mother’s Day plans come to fruition and you’ll have a nice shopping spree to yourself…Happy Mother’s Day!
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Nothing new.
Weekend plans: Hiking, chores, groceries, long phone calls and preparing for a very busy week.
Whatโs your favorite animal? All and none. I like specific animals, based on “personality”, not generic groups. I even own a cat and I wouldn’t consider myself a cat person, I rarely like other cats than mine. ๐ I maybe tend to like smaller animals, sometimes bigger ones intimidate me (like a horse or cow). Definitely prefer animals in the wild, but I loved caring for ducklings and bunnies as a child when I visited my grandparents.
I hope you have a lovely weekend and get to chat with your family in Europe Ana Maria.
Recent purchases: I recently bought a lot! The Dragontini palette from Clionadh (so excited to get this as itโs my first purchase from them), the Colourpop Star Wars palette and the liners, and a Sydney Grace mystery bag that I got for half off on their website. I think with all the stress going on in the news, I was extra inclined to splurge a bit.
My weekend plans include relaxing at the beach and also trying to potty train my toddler. Gotta mix the fun with not so much fun!!
My favorite animals are catsโฆIโm a lifelong cat lady! Other than that, sea otters are my favorites, as well as aquatic mammals in general. Theyโre so smart and have such personality!
Paige, fellow Cat Lady here! At this time, I have two very sweet, loving, beautiful girls. Penelope 2 y.o. (all black Domestic Long-hair) and Clarissa 15 y.o. (all white Domestic Long-hair).
Best wishes with the toilet training Paige…sometimes it can happen very quickly once they get the hang of it. How lovely to spend some time at the beach too.
And it’s a lovely haul you have going there too.
Happy Mother’s Day.
Recent purchases: Shopped the MuseBeautyPro sale and got the Viseart Petit Cool Mattes Palette (my first Viseart palette! I’m loving mixing and matching the mattes with my glitter shadow collection and anticipate it will be a staple for travel) and an Esum V09 Line Diffuser Brush (gamechanger in applying shadow-as-liner, wish I’d bought it sooner!).
Weekend plans: Hosting Mother’s Day dinner and regretting volunteering for it.
Favorite animal: Gotta be a cat, love those little a******s. Camels are pretty incredible tho.
Ali Rae, I hear you loud and clear re the volunteering bit….for a long time I have hosted Mother’s Days, Christmas and New Year’s Day event, birthdays of young and old, Easter….the works and now I am done!
All that cleaning (the house, the dishes, glasses) and cooking and it’s all over in a flash…it is hard, hard work. How many people are coming to your place?
I really do feel for you. I hope you can get to enjoy part of it and everyone else helps with the clearing up too……Best wishes.
Wishing a Happy Mother’s Day on Sunday to the U.S.
RECENT PURCHASES:. A couple weeks ago II got the Oden’s Eye x Angelica Nyqvist Hela Palette
WEEKEND PLANS: Recovering from an really nasty, lingering upper respiratory virus my son brought home from work. (Not COVID.). I’m slowly starting to improve, but my hubby is in full swing.
WHAt’ S YOUR FAVORITE ANIMAL? Cats of all kinds. I adore housecats. I think tigers are the most beautiful thing on the planet.
What a lovely, kind and sharing son he is! Bringing you something special home from his workplace!!
The medical professionals here in Aus are warning us big time about all the nasty viruses and flues that we didn’t get due to lockdown and now are out in the community and I guess you both are got some of those. I hope you are feeling a bit better each day and that your husband starts to improve. Unfortunately men are either ‘fine’ or they’re ‘dying’ and they let you know that they are ‘waaay sicker than what you seemed to be’ Am I being a bit too harsh?
I hope you have an enjoyable Mother’s Day Rachel and get some time to yourself.
Thanks for the well wishes! Lol – ah, yes, men are much different than women when sick. We’re just all trying to take care of each other. Fortunately, my brother and older son don’t have it…at least yet. My brother has been especially helpful.
Ugh, Respiratory infections are awful. Glad you are feeling better!
Thank you! If the hacking cough would just disappear, though!
Stop and smell the flowers, LOL! He’s so adorable!
Purchases/rediscoveries: Well, I almost jumped the shark and ordered the entire collection, but stopped dead in my tracks realizing that I already have a ton of stuff that I hardly touch, but here goes my ColourPop Star Wars order! The Star Wars e/s Palette, Protocol Jellymuch shadow, Kyber Crystal eyeliner, Dark Lord Lux Lipstick and Imperial lipgloss. Plus, I ordered another jar of Drunk Elephant Protini Peptides because I have a feeling that this is going to be a drier, and possibly hotter summer.
Weekend plans: Trying to figure out how to get my laundry done. Might need to ask for some help with that because I’m not supposed to lift anything over 10 lbs. So this situation is complicated by my having 6 steps UPWARDS in order to get my rolling laundry basket out and to the laundry room!
What’s your favorite animal? Obviously, I love all the cats! Beyond that, I’m fascinated by bats. So many vastly different types with very different looks and habits within the species! First of all, they are NOT blind! But, they do use echolocation to navigate their flight patterns. Also, they are actually responsible for even more pollination than bees. Plants like agave (tequila!), bananas, mangoes and so many other food bearing plants are pollinated by bats. Oh, and the Flying Fox varieties look like sky puppies!!! ๐ฆ
Well Nancy, if our last summer here was anything to go by, yours is going to be straight out horrible. Honestly, it was one of the worst summers I’ve had to endure for a long time. We had everything: high humidity, extremely intensely hot days, hot nights, strong winds – it just never let up.
We have lots of flying foxes here and truly they are pretty awful and are responsible for quite a few diseases. They eat everything in sight and at one stage, just about destroyed our Botanical Garden (flocks of them). So I am not a fan of them at all.
However bats, I am fascinated with too and think they are quite intelligent and sophisticated animals.
UGH!!! BATS!!!! I know they are beneficial and all that but I’m definitely in the “creepy camp” when it comes to bats. Our next door neighbour kept having incidents of them inside her house and it turned out she had a colony of between 200 and 300 bats living between the exterior brick and interior plaster of her house. The expert who got rid of them (humanely – one was “doors” so they could fly out at night to feed but couldn’t get back in…this after he’d sealed off the gaps through which they’d entered in the first place) absolutely LOVES bats and gave me a whole little lesson on the wonders of the bat. Sorry – still UGH, especially now that rabies is in the bat population! Oh, and this guy who dealt with the bats – he actually breeds flying foxes for zoos, etc. and told me a story that absolutely made my skin crawl. Those things are massive – like chihuahuas with wings. MASSIVE UGH.
I am with you, Mariella. Bats are creepy as all get out!!!!!!
Please do ask for help with your laundry. Don’t risk your healing.
Bats are so amazing, and cute as can be. Even the big ones. ๐
Winnie is so cute grabbing a drink from the hose and your plants look so colourful too.
Recent Purchases: I have gathered a few skincare products for my daughter in law for her Mother’s Day goodie bag – some hydrating masks, The Ordinary’s HA Serum and Squalene cleanser, a Trilogy trio of moisturisers and Philosophy’s Amazing Grace perfume that she likes. I also found a lonely bottle of The Ordinary’s Moroccan Argon oil as well for myself.
Rediscoveries: I have been using bareMineral’s Soft and Smokey palette a lot this week in conjunction with ND’s Glam for the gold shades.
Weekend Plans: Doing some housework, laundry and grocery shopping on Saturday so that I am doing nothing of the kind on Mother’s Day. We are also researching for a new oven…our old one is playing up and it joins the long list of household appliances that we have had to replace in the past year (washing machine, dishwasher, vacuum cleaner, iron etc).
On Mother’s Day my eldest son and I are taking our two oldest granchildren for a steam train ride along the suburban tracks, which has been organised by Steamrail Vic. during the afternoon and then we are going out for an early dinner.
Favourite animals: My very favourite animal is the Beaver – even though none of them are found in Aus, I think they are the most constructive animal and have been fascinated by them for a long time.
Plenty of beavers here in Ontario, Canada, Genevieve….just one more reason you NEED to come and visit!
Oregon is nicknamed “The Beaver State,” and we have one on our state flag. They’re amazing.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: 2 ColourPop hauls. The first one shipped today: Star Wars palette, Cruel Intentions pressed powder blush, and Private Party pressed powder bronzer. Still waiting for the second (and all Star Wars!) haul to ship: Surrender lipstick, Elite gloss, Astromech Jelly Much shadow, and 2 Grogu/The Child/Baby Yoda items-hand mirror and Cutest in the Galaxy makeup bag.
Weekend plans: Laundry and dodging rain today, work all day and weekly grocery run tomorrow, Sunday is open.
Whatโs your favorite animal? Cats!
Recent purchases: Nothing! I went to Sephora as soon as they opened on Thursday to purchase a few things from The Inky List but they couldn’t get their cash up and running and there was a line of people waiting to pay….I waited about 5 minutes and then put my items back and left as I had a training session booked at the gym and couldn’t wait any longer.
Weekend plans: gym today and then the grocery store. With 2 of my 3 children too far distant now to celebrate Mothers’ Day with me, my daughter and son in law will be coming by for brunch on Sunday (which hubs will endeavor to cook…we’ll see how that goes!). I hope someone gets me a good pair of thorn-proof gardening gloves!
Favourite animal: the dog…a mid to large sized dog. If I were younger (and didn’t mind the constant vacuuming), we’d have another Golden Retriever or – dog of my dreams – a Leonberger.
My husband loves Leonburgers! They are a difficult breed to find ๐
Have a lovely Motherโs Day, everyone!
There’s a woman in my neighbourhood who has both a Leonberger AND a Bearded Collie (another breed I love but hubs doesn’t like dogs with hairy faces so that it’s hard to make out their features…what a goof!) Every time I run into this woman, I stop to talk to her and admire both dogs.
What a bummer about Sephora’s cash registers Mariella, as the Inkey List is something I would purchase as well now. I did buy the EA Lip Fix cream you recommended the other day as chapped lips are something I like to avoid during winter. It was at our local pharmacy and the staff assistant there ‘swears by it’ too.
How did the Baby Shower go? Was your daughter really happy with everything?
Yep – Flying Foxes are pretty massive (they are enormous) and can be disease ridden and carriers. Not a fan at all and even in Koorie legends, the flying fox is not given a good name.
Best of luck with the Mother’s Day brunch (with your husband cooking)…my husband would be the same in the kitchen, but he is excellent a cooking things on the BBQ.
Have a lovely day.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Bought a back-up of UD 24/7 Eyeliner in Mushroom, which has been my favorite all-purpose go-to color for my lower lash line for years.
Weekend Plans: Taking care of our dog, relaxing, visiting family.
Favorite Animal: Dogs and sloths
Oh my goodness how strange as we both happe to have favourite animals in common Seraphine as dogs and sloths are my faves too!!
Winnie and pretty flowers!
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Nothing new. Rediscoveries, no nothing.
Weekend plans: Gardening, dog walking and sleeping.
Whatโs your favorite animal? Dogs, obviously, but I love animals, all animals, even bats. ๐ The only “animal” I don’t like are arachnoids, I know they aren’t animals but had to mention them, spiders scare me,
I’d love to have my own horse, I’ve spent a lot of time around them, and on them, but now I can’t afford to do any horseback riding.
