Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries:
Someone ping me if I don’t update this section! (I put together a lot of the weekly posts in advance, say for the next month or so, and then update the night before if needed… but I sometimes forget for sure.)
Weekend plans:
My mom and I are going to go to the plant nursery and check out some of the spring finds! I just have to convince hubby to plant the things…
What are you looking forward to in March or has been the best part so far?
It’s warmer, which is nice, though it always gets a little warmer too fast that it almost makes me miss the cool temperatures of January (which are really too cold for me–often causes my Raynaud’s to flare up). Hubby and I have such established routines and our lives are, thankfully, quite stable, so I feel like there aren’t any big things that we have going on in March! It’s just the usual for us.

P.P.S. — Check our hubby’s new site for video gaming guides — good if you (or someone you know or your kids!) is into video games (or even Wordle, lol)!
Recent Purchases: Lois Cosmetics Meet Me at Midnight palette, and still in search of the good BH Cosmetics palettes; they were purchased by Revolution soooo…. I don’t think the quality will be there in the future.
Rediscoveries: My Wet n Wild Dewy foundation… it’s super pretty.
Weekend plans: I get to see my BFF for the first time in… months! I don’t even remember the last time I saw her in person. Maybe last fall? And it’s supposed to be really beautiful weather here, so I look forward to spending some time outside.
What are you looking forward to in March or has been the best part so far? Warmer weather has been the best part so far, as well as daylight that lasts longer.
I hope you had a wonderful time with your best friend Celesta. There is nothing like getting together face to face for a good, long chat.
Thank you, Genevieve! We had a great time catching up!
Recent Purchases: Givenchy Lipstick in Rouge Egerie
Weekend Plans: Recover from Physical Therapy, paint my nails, maybe do a makeup look or two. Though I need to replace my foundation soon! And buy a serum. My skin is looking a little dull.
What I am looking forward to in March: New personalized stationery, my Lenten study group and reading some books I didn’t get to in February because my back had flared up!
I hope your physical therapy is doing the trick Sarah and easing your back problems.
The recent serum I have purchased and is hitting the nail on the head is the Inkey List’s Hyalronic Acid. I can really see a difference and that is amazing for me. The best part is that it’s so inexpensive too.
RECENT PURCHASES: Ace Beaute Tropical Vibes Palette. It was finally restocked, but it took forever to ship to me. It’s beautiful, and I hope I get along with their new formula.
WEEKEND PLANS:. Chip away at the last of my work lessons today and tomorrow. Sunday is supposed to be nice at the coast. If that remains so, we’re taking a day trip.
WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO IN MARCH OR HAS BEEN THE BEST PART SO FAR?
Indoor mask mandates are easing up on the 11th. It will be nice to get a break, though I’ll still be wearing one if it’s too crowded to social distance properly.
Also, my brother, husband, and younger son all have birthdays in March.
March must be the month for birthdays Rachel – both Olivia and my husband have just had their birthday. It does get a little expensive though!
Our indoor mask situation has eased as well, although lots of people are still wearing them because there are still rules in place about when and where you have to wear them and everyone is a little confused. I still wear one in a shopping centre because I just feel that it’s safest to.
I just looked up the Ace Beauty Tropical Vibes palette and it is gorgeous – it would look wonderful on you. Very pretty.
Have a lovely day trip too.
One thing to give you a heads up on is that Ace Beauté packs a wallop when it comes to pigmentation and is so potent that it *can* be difficult to blend out their mattes. But their curation of shades tends to be so wonderful that one just finds a way to get the mattes to work! I believe that you will love it!
OMG! He actually ate it! Haha! 😂
And hello fellow Raynaud’s sufferer! Having had mine since my mid-30’s, I now have loss of sensation in my fingertips on both index fingers and thumbs, and something weird going on with the skin, too. And yet, I do enjoy cooler weather? But under 50°F, I have to put on my gloves or put my hands in my pockets.
Purchases/rediscoveries: Just ordered Sol de Janairo Brazilian Bum Bum Cream the other day, and picked up a fresh KVD Tattoo Liner in Trooper along with 2 Tony Moly Aloe sheet masks on Wednesday while I was in the Biltmore shopping and medical area of town. Been purchasing a few essentials for post-surgical comfort, too. A new cotton midi nightgown, an un-underwire support bra, all the comfy breathable stuff.
Rediscovered my ND Glam Midi palette the other day. Surprised that I hadn’t used it in months! And UD Liar lipstick yesterday with a very bold purple eye achieved using Huda Rose Quartz Palette. And, I’m BEYOND happy that Love Stone is exactly what Cosmic Love needs as a base to get an amazing, dare I say, multi-chrome finish? No creasing, either!
Weekend plans: Well, I was scheduled to see my two granddaughters tomorrow, but have heard crickets from their aunt regarding where or when. So, I don’t know. But I’m feeling quite anxious over the lack of communication concerning the visit, as that was giving me the strength to fight what’s going on inside my body and the “many hours long multiphase surgery and pathology” in the words of my oncology surgeon Wednesday. Only 3 more weeks from now. Yikes. On Sunday, laundry by the bushel!
What are you looking forward to in March or has been the best part so far? Seeing my precious, beautiful, bright granddaughters! Hopefully also reconciliation with my daughter in law, even though they’re about to divorce, she will always be family to me in my heart. She is such a resilient, strong, dedicated, hardworking Mom!
It’s a good idea to start packing and organising things for your post operative care Nancy so that you don’t rush it and forget something you may well need. I don’t know about the US, but here in Aus it’s a bit difficult getting summer nighties – they all seem to be pj’s – which I hate wearing myself.
I hope you do get to see your granddaughters, how old are they? Making peace with your DIL will help matters and facilitate more access to the girls.
ND’s Mini Glam is such a beautiful little gem and I am sure you have created some stunning eye looks with it. Take care Nancy.
Exactly right, Genevieve! I do have a large tote bag to put a few nightgowns, panties and bra in, plus my slippers, even though I know that they’ll likely insist that use those non-slip socks. Also, a lounge wear set to wear home. And the comfort pillow a friend bought me to put between my then tender tummy and the seatbelt.
I did get to see my two precious, very bright and beautiful granddaughters on Saturday for a very nice 2½ hour visit! And their Mom and I got along so well without my son around. I can now clearly see that he was playing us against each other quite a bit when they were together.
You are so right about the Glam palette! I have yet to get a “bad” look out of it. Plus, I see it as one that would work for just about everyone for very soft, sophisticated, smokey eye looks.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: ColourPop order 🙂 Wishful Winking single shadow (finally back in stock!), La Cienega glowing lip, Flirt Alert blush, Sunnyvale eyeliner, Hearts hair clips, Comb By lip oil, Plush Like Me palette, Avocado & Aloe face serum, Strawberry face polish
Weekend plans: Hopefully a quiet weekend at home 🙂 clean, unpack, etc.
What are you looking forward to in March or has been the best part so far?: uh, I don’t think anything? Lol but my husband’s birthday is on the 26th.
Another March birthday! I hope you get the quiet weekend you are hoping for Joyce with three little ones running around!
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Nothing new.
Weekend plans: Just chilling.
What are you looking forward to in March or has been the best part so far? I am looking forward to the clocks changing and more daylight. And the start of spring, even though it is likely to feel wintry for awhile longer.
I look forward to changing the clocks too Lesley, but for the opposite reason to you! It means that autumn is finally here and the heat and humidy that we have experienced will hopefull be over.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Nothing new.
Weekend plans: Another nothing special weekend, just chores, walks, reading, phone calls with family. Given the current family situation, I choose to take a month off from hiking and I’ll probably take 3-6 months off from events. It’s just getting very hard to keep my mind off the situation in Europe when I don’t have weekend activities; the darkest scenarios seem to come to my mind during weekends.
What are you looking forward to in March or has been the best part so far? I’m not looking forward at anything in March… 2022 has been the worse year yet (hard to think after 2020). Mid-February visiting my family back in Europe in March seemed a good plan… now there’s a war a couple of hundreds of kilometers away. I know it might be dumb and selfish, but all this time I’ve been so scared of being stuck somewhere due to covid, now it’s the war.
Yes, the situation in Europe is really quite hazardous at the moment, with the war in Ukraine and your family not all that far away from it all. I really feel for you. Maybe some gentle walks would take your mind off things.
Stay positive Ana Maria and I hope and pray that the situation over there does not get any worse that what it already is.
Thank you Genevieve for always sending kind words and best wishes!
Unfortunately I never truly understood what conflict means until it hit so close home. My family lives in a border city, and my mom is a witness everyday of the influx of refugees. This year was very hard on our family and it was like every two weeks something happened; we managed in the end to go on, as life still needs to go on… and then this whole situation happened.
And the amount of misinformation in the media on both sides is infuriating.
Same here, Ana Maria. My mind goes there, too. Especially having spent at minimum my first 3 decades of life in the Cold War with the “duck and cover” drills during elementary school and seeing the miniseries The Day After in my 20’s, and here we go again. It’s been nerve-wracking. I don’t think it’s selfish to visit your family in Europe. Not in the least! Definitely go, enjoy their company and hug often because tomorrow isn’t promised to any of us. Sending you virtual hugs 💞
I hope you find some fun things at the nursery, Christine!
Purchases/rediscoveries: Nothing this week. I guess I had an anti-discovery, in that I noticed that my foundation is separated. I haven’t used it in over a year so it’s not surprising. I’m in no rush to replace it since I only do a full face of makeup for dance performances and I’m still on hiatus.
Weekend plans: It’s a big one. We’re going to Cocktail District, a spirit and cocktail event that we originally had tickets for in March 2020. They had the distinction of being the first major Seattle event to have to cancel due to the pandemic. Even though we live just outside of Seattle, we got ourselves a hotel room so we can be safe and sober to drive home the next morning. So we’ll have dinner in the city (we’re looking at a Thai street food place) and breakfast in the morning and then head home.
I’m a bit nervous because it’s a big indoor event and of course masks will be coming on and off for tasting things, but case numbers have gone down a lot in our area so hopefully it will be ok.
What I’m looking forward to in March: So much! In addition to this weekend’s plans, I have a lot of dance classes and workshops and most importantly, our wedding anniversary in two weeks! This weekend is going to be our main early celebration, but I’m sure we’ll go out for a nice dinner on the day of, too.
Have fun AJ- I hope you have a wonderful weekend away and it’s just the ticket to make everything seem a lot better.
Happy anniversary too.
Haul: nothing more than Jergens All Purpose Face Cream (something cheap and cheerful that I’ve wanted to try for ages). Rediscoveries: an Elizabeth Arden eyeshadow palette that was a gift from a friend and a GWP from several years ago. The GWP included 2 palettes – one cool and mauve toned and the one that I love which is warmer earth tones.
Weekend plans: shopping for things for the baby shower I’ll be hosting (table stuff, etc.) – best to start early, right?, gym tomorrow, brunch on Sunday and taking my newly moved friend (she is the friend who often came to stay for the weekend; now she’s moved here and has just settled in) to see how to get to the places that are important to her. Also taking her to get her signed up at my gym, etc.
What I’m looking forward to in March is bitter-sweet – a family luncheon (immediate family on both sides) to mark my son and daughter in law’s recent marriage and their imminent move to Japan (that the slightly sad part, though it is what my son has sought and wanted and succeeded in attaining). He’s the “baby” of the family and it’s SUCH a long way away!
I’m so glad that your daughter is having a baby shower Mariella. We hosted one for Anika when she was pregnant with Olivia and it was just wonderful. She received so many useful and gorgeous presents and it was a perfect celebration to welcome in a new baby to the family (our first grandchild).
In view of the past couple of years, it is also amazing to be able to host such a celebration too and I am sure that it will all turn out well on the day. I was cooking and preparing food for the big day as well, so it was a very busy time.
And it will be a very bittersweet moment when your son and new DIL move to Japan. – even though it is his wish to, it doesn’t make it any easier for mum and dad to accept. Our children are always our babies!
Yes, Winston wasn’t sure whether he liked that bit of mandarin or not – but like a true doggy he ate it all.
Recent Purchases: Nothing much – just some more Nude by Nature’s Primer, a jar of Antipodes Vanilla Pod day moisturiser (my daughter in law loves this and recommended for me to try it) and an Essano gentle exfoliating scrub. Not quite sure about this one – I miss my Amie’s one from England that I can’t get anymore.
Rediscoveries: Still using my Naked palettes 1 & 2.
Weekend Plans: It’s been a busy week in our household, with Olivia’s birthday yesterday (Friday) and my husband’s birthday today (Saturday in Aus.). We are just having a low key kind of celebration for him – as he didn’t want any big fuss, so it will be dinner out tonight with the family.
Olivia is having her birthday party on Sunday, up at her other grandparent’s property, as she is having a ‘horse party’ with her three best friends and seeing the horses they have there. So no big cooking fest for me – for which I am thankful.
The weather has been extremely hot and humid here and it is much cooler today after some thunderstorms. We have been watching the severe weather events up in NSW and Qld and really feel for those who have been flooded out of their homes again.
Looking forward to in March: I am really looking forward to cooler weather and I am hoping that the hot temperatures are behind us, but you can never be sure.
Now that our grandchildren are back at school (Olivia and Lachlan), we are hoping that they don’t catch Covid and they continue to be well. Anika is settling into her work routine and baby Harry is still loving to come to our place and being quite a joy to look after – he really is a placid, easygoing darling.
Hi Genevieve! I see what you mean—lots of March birthdays! I still have my UD Naked 1 palette! I think I got it the first time they restocked after the initial release broke the world lol what are your favorite looks with it?
Where you live sounds climatalogically similar to our desert Southwest region, Genevieve. Very hot, dry weather followed up with severe thunderstorms and some severe flooding in spots. Rough climates that just seem to be getting worse over time.
I’m so happy for your DIL Anika enjoying her return back to work! Also, that she has an easy-going, easy to care for little guy, too. Which makes quite the difference.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: My Shine by SD order came in!!! Still trying to stick to this no buy.
Weekend plans: Going to go over to a friend’s place Sunday to hang out. We’re going to have nachos!
What are you looking forward to in March or has been the best part so far? Hopefully some relief from some health problems I’ve been having.
I hope March proves to be the month where your health issues do ease Cat. It’s never fun having health problems.
Enjoy your weekend.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries:
It’s not a purchase or a rediscovery-it’s actually a new discovery from a purchase made a few weeks ago-but I wore liquid blush for the first time yesterday, and it was easier to use than I’d worried about! The liquid blush in question was ColourPop Hot Fuss Cheek Dew, which I found to be quite a smooth, blendable formula so far. I used my fingers to apply 3 layers to cheeks, chin, temples, and forehead; and the color was noticeable but still suitable for my late shift at work, even when I layered NARS Coeur Battant powder blush on my cheeks over Hot Fuss. The main problem I noticed was that way too much product came out at once when I applied the 2nd and 3rd layers, but I had the opening facing up instead of down, so that could easily have been operator error. Even the excess blended out well!
Weekend plans:
Worked all day today, weekly grocery run tomorrow, probable pharmacy run Sunday.
What are you looking forward to in March or has been the best part so far?
I’m feeling pretty neutral about March so far, but there’s always the possibility that that could change.
Recent purchases: I just received the Ace Beaute Tropical Vibes palette and it is absolutely gorgeous! It was my first purchase from them. They even sent me a pair of lashes as an apology for the long shipping time (which wasn’t even overly long).
Weekend plans: I work in a grocery store and my weekends are usually during the week. But I actually called out today because of a migraine so I’m just laying low and recovering.
Looking forward to in March? I’m looking forward to the weather slowly warming up a bit and seeing the flowers and trees starting to bloom.
