Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 Review, Photos
Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 ($22.50 for 0.15 oz.) is a moisturizing lip balm in a tube. The Sugar Lip Treatment is definitely hydrating, and it’s thick enough that it leaves a thin, buttery layer on lips once applied. It has a slightly gloss look, but it isn’t too high-shine. I love how moisturizing it is when it’s on my lips, but the problem is it doesn’t last for more than a couple of hours. I find that constant reapplication is necessary to maintain that hydrated feel–once you stop, so does the moisturizing.
I love the sweet, lemony scent, though, but I am a sucker for citrus-y scents–though there’s no real taste to me! This is something I like to use during the day and at my desk. I tend to reapply lip balm several times throughout the day as I eat/drink and the like, so it’s perfect for that. It’s not so great for a slick of balm at night, because it just doesn’t last long enough for that. It does contain SPF 15 (octinoxate at 7.49% and oxybenzone at 2%), which is a nice touch.
The packaging is gorgeous–it’s an near matte but slightly metallic bronzed metal (well, that’s what it feels like!) tube. It’s sturdy and has a bit of heft to it, which makes it feel like a lipstick rather than a lip balm. All the fancy packaging probably contributes to the higher price tag–at least for a lip balm–but it’s much more emollient than many other stick-based balms I’ve tried.
I like it–between the scent and the buttery feel on my lips–I may purchase another tube once I finish this one. I like the convenience of a tube, the lemon-y scent, and the feel. I do think a product like this is easy to go through, though, because it’s so emollient that it’s easy to over-apply and finish up a tube rather quickly. I’ve been testing it out for a week or so now, and I expect one tube will last just over a month with daily use.

Recommendation: It’s not a miracle treatment, but it’s a nice lip balm for everyday use. If you have only slightly chapped or dry lips, I think this may be sufficient for you. Those looking for more long-term results may find that the moisturization stops when you stop using the product.

its a decent product, but over priced…for a lip balm. Its nothing spectacular….
I bought this and the tinted one, and seriously found them lacking. Most SPF products I’ve tried do not moisturized as well as non SPF products. I prefer without. Anyhow, my Hawaiian Tropic lip balm performed better, and contains SPF.
I wonder if this dried anyones lips out as bad as it did mine? lol
This one is my favourite lip balm for last two years
I love this stuff. I was so skeptical because of the price, but after having a tube, I just liked it so much that I know I’ll re-buy.
It seems to me like lip balms fall into two categories – the ones that really moisturize, and the ones that lock moisture in. This one is in the first camp, and something like Smith’s Rosebud Salve in in the second.
To stay properly hydrated, my lips seem to need a bit of both. They’re never happy if I only use one balm, so I switch it around. This (Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment) and Smith’s Rosebud Salve are my daytime HGs. At night I use either the Smith’s or Laura Mercier’s Lip Silk, which can really repair lips.
I like this lip balm because especially if there is something on top of it (lipstick, gloss, or a vaseline based balm like the Smith’s) it seems to keep lips moisturized longer. But I don’t mind re-applying too much because it’s got the SPF, which is always a good thing.
I love this, however it costs way too much for how long it lasts. I feel like I go through the tube very, very quickly. But it does make my lips feel sooo soft and buttery and I can never use regular chapstick again!
I have this and Neosporin lip health and I find myself reaching for the Neosporin and leaving the Fresh in my purse!
i have tried EVERYTHING, including neosporin lip health to fix my always chapped and peeling lips. regular chapstick makes my lips peel even more. this stuff is the ONLY thing that has made my lips super soft and moisturized–no peeling! love it.
I bought this about a year ago and I LOVE IT. For lip balm, yes, it’s expensive. BUT I haven’t found any other lip balm that compares in texture, scent and flavor. Most of the time when I run out of the house, I will put Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment on INSTEAD of lipstick. It makes my lips moist and keeps them soft for hours.
I also have the Sugar Rosé Tinted Lip Treatment, which I keep in my fridge because it applies differently when cold.
I recommend both and would both of them again.
I got this last year and used it all up but would not repurchase.
Have you tried Jack Black’s intense therapy lip balm?
It’s a personal favorite of mine, especially during the winter when my lips tend to crack a lot. Jack black’s lip balm alleviates the pain of cracked lips for me upon application and I honestly couldn’t believe how well it worked!
Nope, I haven’t!
I have this and have used a whole tube of it. I think it’s good but it’s overpriced and the taste gets pretty annoying after using it over and over. Advice: don’t keep it on the bathroom. It will become soft from the shower/bath steam and fall apart when you try to put it on.
I like this a lot! I read somewhere that the person just tapped it on their lips and therefore you don’t use that much and the tube lasts. I have been reaching for this to use as a base for Chanel’s Rouge Coco lipsticks which dry my lips. I tried first applying my favorite chapstick and then the lipstick but it’s still dry. With Fresh as a based tapped on and then the lipstick applied on top, I don’t dry out! I love it!
It’s my favorite “before bed” treatment. For me it’s on my list of products I couldn’t live without!!!
Bought this a long time ago and had the same experience. It felt really great the first few times but I found that my lips became dependent on it. In the longrun, it didn’t help my lips at all and that’s what I expect lip treatments to do!
This product is really not worth the money. I bought because of two reasons: It was very hyped up here in you tube (like many other products which are so not worth it) and I was at sephora in San Diego and had to buy all the things I can’t buy in Germany (meaning, I had no time to go test the product and think about if I liked it or not). The product is very expensive for what it does (nothing better than a burt´s bees or Carmex, and I found the best one, the lipbalm from vaseline that you can get at CVS or rite aid and doesn’t even cost 2 dollars. Do not waste your money on this. Hope this helps!
if you love this so much, try gap body’s sugar lemon lip balm with spf 15. ITS AMAZING!!!!!!! with the butter feel! only $3-4!
I have looked for your recommendation and cannot find anywhere, have a link?
Try Sephora!
I’ve been eyeing this product for quite some time now! I love love lovee the smell but always found that the price was a bit too steep considering i already have a lip balm i love (Nivea’s A Kiss of Moisture). Have you tried the rose tinted version of this? I wasnt sure which to try out first..
Haven’t tried the tinted one, sorry!
This product saved my lips! I found that i am allergic to something in Burts Bees and went to sephora for a product to help soothe the swelling and this was what was reccomended! I will admit its quite expensive, and i find it to have a slight, weird taste, but it was worth every penny for fixing my lips!
Have used this before but it is not worth the price.
have you tried the exfoliator? i looked for it on here but not sure i might have missed it.
No, sorry!
Where I want to buy sugar lip ?
