Skincare: Fresh Soy Face Cream

Fresh Soy Face Cream ($38.00 for 1.7 oz.) is a lightweight face cream that moisturizes skin without leaving behind any greasy residue. To me, this feels and acts like a no-frills face cream, but it has a surprising amount of ingredients designed to hydrate and freshen the skin.

what it’s supposed to do: It is a paraben-free daily moisturizer for all skin types. It is enriched with moisture-retaining amino acids and protective antioxidants to hydrate and smooth the skin. Provides essential daily moisture while soothing, protecting, and firming the skin. It is scientifically demonstrated to have significant, long-term moisturizing and restorative effects on the skin. The lightweight, fast-absorbing formula can be worn alone or under makeup.

It took me about a month and a half to get through an entire tube, and I used it as my AM moisturizer. My skin type is normal-to-dry, and when I was using this, it was early fall, so my skin was closer to normal. I found this kept my skin perfectly hydrated throughout the day, and I loved how thick and rich it felt when I first applied but then how quickly it absorbed.

There are a few ingredients in the cream that work to give skin a better appearance but not in the vein of delivering you newborn baby skin–it includes rosewater and cucumber extract, both of wihch help to balance/restore skin while calming irritation/redness. There is also meadowfoam and jojoba seed oils that amp up hydration.  I felt like this came in handy after doing several cheek swatches–always made my skin feel better about itself.

ingredients: Water, Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate, Stearic Acid, PPG-2 Myristyl Ether Propionate, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Maltooligosyl Glucoside, Fragrance (Parfum), Polyglyceryl-10 Distearate, Sucrose Polysoyate, C14-22 Alcohols, Sea Water (Maris Aqua), Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Rosa Damascena Flower Water, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Sterols, Aspalathus Linearis Leaf Extract, Retinyl Palmitate, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Tocopherol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Jojoba Alcohol, Potassium Jojobate, Behenyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Acrylamide/Ammonium Acrylate Copolymer, Lecithin, Butylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol, C12-20 Alkyl Glucoside, Polyisobutene, Benzoic Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hexylene Glycol, Sodium Polyacrylate, Sorbitan Isostearate, Polysorbate 20, Maltodextrin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Pentylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Limonene, Linalool, Citronellol, Citral, Geraniol.

It has this fresh scent of cucumbers and rose with a little citrus. It smells natural to me–not synthetic, not flowery–and I liked it personally. It comes in a squeeze-tube, which I liked, because it made it convenient to dispense and hygenic to use.

final thoughts: I liked this a lot–I would definitely consider purchasing it again in the future. There was enough richness to keep my skin hydrated during the day, but it absorbed into the skin in a minute or less, and so it made for an excellent base under makeup, too.

I do have to say that although I’ve never tried their face cream, I am very happy with the soy face cleanser. I rarely have bought a second item of anything and I’m on my 3rd of that stuff. It’s really great. It may cost alot but I feel like one of those lasts 6 months and I use it twice a day.

This is my moisturizer!
I have combination skin, but only mild to moderate t-zone oiliness, and pretty dry, dehydrated skin otherwise. I am also acne prone. This gives my dry areas plenty of moisture without making any of my skin feel greasy, and I find it balancing for my oily areas. I use it as a night-time moisturizer.
What I really love is that though I am very acne prone, this did not add to my break-outs at all, which is a big deal for me because I have had a hard time finding a moisturizer which doesn’t make me break out more.

What I really wanted to say though, is that I’m amazed that you got through a tube of this in 1.5 months! A tube of this lasts me almost 6 months! I’m not super-sparing with it either, though I do only use it on my face (body moisturizer is good enough for my neck). However I don’t flood my face with moisturizer … I use about 3 pea-sized portions of moisturizer for one application, and it seems like plenty.

The other thing I have found is that it has helped with my over-red easily irritated cheeks, this is especially true if I pat my moisturizer in instead of rubbing it.

I’m squeezing out the ends of my tube I got about three months ago (once daily use as well, mostly), so this is funny to me the differences 😛 And I was wishing that it could just last longer!

I wish this had sunscreen in it! I do need a thicker day moisturizer, though, and if this sinks in that quickly I may have to give this a look… I have dry skin, but I can’t stand things that feel oily or greasy!

I bought a tube of this after hearing all the rave reviews. I loved the way it felt and the fact that it could even get most of makeup off, which never happens in a cleanser. Anyway, I starting breaking out on my chin a lot. I thought it was a case of hormonal acne, because I never break out. As soon as I would clear up a pimple another one would pop up. Finally, I posted my regimen on a skincare forum and they pointed out that some people have reactions to soy. So I stopped using the cleanser and sure enough, I haven’t had a breakout on my chin since. I really did like the cleanser though, too bad it didn’t work for me.

Vit. A, C & E. Nice…!
Do you recommend this to people w/ oily-dehydrated skin? I have an oily skin, but lack of moisture (water), it’s pretty hard to find moisturizer that hydrating enough without making me break out *sigh*
