Do you keep greeting cards? I do keep the special ones – from my kids, hubby and close friends. My mother in law has kept all the cards her children have given her over the years and she returned them, in large envelopes, to each “child” and asked that we just give them to her again, rather than spending money on more greeting cards. I thought that was a brilliant idea (she decluttered and saved us money and hassle, though I still do always get her a new card when I see one that is particularly fitting for her for special occasions!)
Oh – I forgot that I also got a bunch of Bath and Bodyworks soaps and some hand sanitizer minis (school just started and I find it very convenient, to say nothing of more pleasant, to have my own nicely scented ones in my bag). B&BW sort of pushed out my favourite (and Canadian) store of a similar ilk (Fruits and Passions) – now the nearest store is almost an hour’s drive from me – but it is hard to beat their prices and I do like having extras to take as last minute hostess gifts, etc.
I didn’t even know Fruits and Passions was a Canadian brand with stores!
Lots fewer stores now, sadly. The 2 near me are gone!
Fruits and Passion was bought by that god-awful Face Shop brand. They are still selling things on their website. Im in the same boat as you… makes me so upset. I love their products!

That’s a great idea from your MIL – haven’t heard of that! Very cool. Talk about planning 😉 I wonder how deep into saving cards she came up with the idea or if she had it all along.
In place of/in addition to facial moisturizer, on cuticles, eye area (I have Boscia Tsubaki oil – I love facial and hair oils – but I’m not sure if that can be used on the eyes), on your hair. Basically, you can use it anywhere and even mix it with other face creams or lotions. It’s madly price – the Josie Maran one – and I’m wondering if there are cheaper alternatives at the health food store (still 100% argan). I’ve only used it for 2 or 3 nights but I really like it a lot.
Nice! I always feel a bit inept when it comes to facial oils! I’m like, “Where do I put this in my routine?!”
I’ve found cold-pressed 100% argan oil in health food stores for an average of $15 USD/1 fl. oz.. The one I have is from a brand called Acure, and it’s nice & thick, and I do use it in the eye-area, no stinging/burning. You can also try online. HTH
I usually use facial oils before serums because it helps active ingredients penetrate deeper. Sometimes when I’m feeling lazy I just use Josie Maran oil as a one step treatment/moisturizer on my face

I got a bottle some weeks ago and still haven’t used it. I’m sort of “saving” it for use on those impossible glitter polishes! I’ve heard that Sephora also has a good one for removing glitter – I think it’s in a black bottle but I can never remember the name and I’m not even sure if my local Sephora even stocks that particular one (though I would think they’d have it)

Christine, if you had to choose, what would you buy: a Chanel Les 4 Ombres or Guerlain Ecrin 4 Couleurs Long Lasting Eyeshadow?
For me, it would just come down to the actual palette/color scheme… Chanel’s new ones are more consistent (the Tisse ____ ones).
And would you suggest any Guerlain palette? Actually I’ve ordered Les Fauves and Les Aqua, but they haven’t arrived yet.
From their permanent line, I like Les Gris, but most of the ones I’ve liked were LE!
I ranted so much about the unavailability of the TF Nude Dip palette, that as soon as I saw it available I had to get it, obviously. Im still just contemplating it. Ordered a MAC 239 brush to apply it. And that’s it for this week. Oh no… Also got a Bite Cashmere Lip thinghy in Port and Rioja. Could have been worse but decided to keep myself away from Sephora and the likes since I’m waiting for the launching of Gucci make up line.
Plans? None… Just reading. My actual ‘weekends’ happen during the week.

Lol… Being under the sun. Went to the beach.. Cook out and just enjoy the wind and the beautiful weather outside, seeing the kids run all over. Watched a couple of movies and enjoy few beers. Actually was a lovely ‘weekend’. Thanks for asking!

Hi–I hate to put this in a post, but I can’t access “Contact us” because a pop up banner that I can’t close is covering it up… For the past 3 or 4 days, there has been a Moen pop up ad every time I come to your page. It doesn’t close, and basically acts possessed–it changes size itself, and changes the size of your website. It basically disappears from the screen, but leaves your page in the background grayed out. if I hit refresh a couple times, it will go away, but then it will usually reappear if I click at the bottom of a post for the full post. I love your site, and would like to be able to see it without the hassle :). I view your site on an ipad using google chrome. Thank you, and I apologize again for posting this here!

Hi Regina! I am an NC 25 or NW ( since im fully neutral) and I used the Nars tinted moisturizer in Groenland. Alaska might be too light I think. Alaska is full light for an NW 15 I would say, while Groenland is light to medium, for a 25. Hope that is helpful.

As a reference, I’m something like NC20 (which I’m finding a bit yellow these days), 210N in Lancome Teint Idole, Buff in Revlon Colorstay, Deauville in NARS Sheer Glow (Sheer Matte too I suppose!). If you’re NC25, how about you give the color St. Moritz a try? I think it’s the next one up, so you might be that color or something between Alaska and St. Moritz! Good luck! 🙂

Haul: Got the Lorac Pro 2 finally on an HSN deal. It also had the primer and a full size Lorac mascara. Being a first time customer, I got $20 off so the deal was $22! worth the wait, IMO. I also ordered some eyeshadows from Colourpop.com after seeing some beautiful swatches online.
Weekend plans: I found this 21 day organization challenge that I plan to start this week, so I think we will be doing pretty much the same thing. I will definitely insert some football watching, though 🙂

Haul: NARS Jane – whoohoo! Also, some of the new Pacifica makeup – powder, CC Cream, and mascara (which is amazing! May be my new HG! Sorry, Almay.). There’s something about Pacifica that thrills me, like Rouge Bunny Rouge – they’re both pretty and ethereal in a way, like little luxuries. And I fell in love with the Physician’s Formula Nude Wear line, so I got the blushes, powder, and eyeshadow.
Weekend plans: Not sure, but probably go get my smog test (fingers crossed – my car is old).

Cards: I keep them for a few years in a drawer, then find them when I inevitably move; have a good nostalgic read-through, then usually toss 99% of them.

Haul: MAC Artificially Wild blushes (all 3!), and the plum one from the Romance Novel collection. I also found Taupe Shape on eBay for a decent price, so I grabbed that! None of these came, yet, but I’m hopefully they’ll be in my box today… I picked up UD Naked 2 Basics & LUSH Jackie Oates Colour Supplement, and a L’Oréal lipstick for my daughter (she *really* wants Dior Wonderland, and obsesses over it whenever we go to Sephora, but Mommy doesn’t even have $35 lippies, LOL!). I’m trying Neutrogena Naturals face wash, and and a grocery store BB Cream (knockoff of Garnier, but actually pretty good). Finally, for me, I managed to find NARS Belly Dance on eBay, and it’s even more gorgeous than I imagined!
The rest of what I hauled was for my daughter; we found a couple of shirts for school, and 2 pairs of shoes.
Plans: Grocery shopping, cleaning, picking up any school supplies my daughter doesn’t have from her list-fortunately, she still has most from last year.
Greeting Cards: Between clothes, shoes, and makeup, I sometimes already feel like a hoarder, so I don’t keep greeting cards… I do, however, have a couple in a keepsake box from when my daughter was born, along with other items from that day (her paternal grandmother even clipped out a newspaper horoscope from that day, LOL!), like wristbands, paperwork, ultrasounds, etc…

This is my first product, of *any* sort from the brand. I like to go more “natural” when it comes to everyday, all over face/base products, so I’m a bit disappointed in the fact that it contains parabens.It’s very light pigmentation, but the color is perfect for me-now if Ardency Inn can do a Custom Color Concentrate in this shade, I’d have my HG foundation!

Hey…That’s Mac the shark! I work p-t @ a doggie boutique, and we carry that entire line. My dog’s fav is Georgia the alligator. (She’s a pit bull mix, and that’s the ONLY plush toy she hasn’t torn to pieces!)
My haul: I’m visiting my mother this week and got obsessed by the scent of one of her candles…Naia, by Thymes. I found a boutique nearby that carries Thymes and learned that the scent has been renamed Aqua Coralline. Ended up buying a perfume roller bottle, body lotion, hand soap and — of course — a candle of my own to take home.

Ooh, nice! Do you find that all the various animals are of the same toughness? To be honest, Mellan has destroyed a lot of those “super tough” toys a lot faster than random, cheap plush ones I’ve bought, so I was skeptical, but so far it is mostly intact! (He’s not a chewer either… he basically just runs around with it.)
They are all made well with a Kevlar-type “skin,” and all have double channel-stitched seams, but in my experience, the ones with fewer “parts” last longest….the shark, alligator, snake (the snake is LOTS of fun because it has extra squeakers), trout, etc. Macy took the tails off the skunk and squirrel right away. All of the parts are sewn on independently, tho, so it doesn’t make hole when she rips off a tail, ear, fin, etc. Anyway, drop me a message with your address, and I’ll send you a few from our samples cache!

Haul: I caved at the Sephora sale! I got some Murad and Philosophy skincare, UD Ocho Loco 2, UD Feminine Palette, a Korres mascara for half price that I wanted to redeem a certificate for earlier this year, but they don’t carry Korres in the store near me, and finally, the TF Pretty Rebel palette. I’ve been resisting that one since the reviews!
Weekend plans: Working one day, nothing the other.

Love Mellen practicing tonic immobility. That’s the way to handle a shark. No haul for me this week, just going through my recent MAC haul to find the best items to take on my vacation in just over a week. I’m using the MAC lipstick True Love’s Kiss as my starting point since it’s a lovely neutral red and will pair up with just about anything else.

I’m going to bring some MAC eyeshadows. Right now Ive got Artificial Earth, Deep Fixation, Hidden Motive, Diamond Dove (brows), Shroom, Expensive Pink, and Era on the list. I haven’t decided which blushes to take. I’m keeping it simple with concealer and tinted moisturizer rather than foundation and powder.

Magnificent Mauve sounds so pretty!
Haul: I bought the MUFE trio palette and 3 shadows . They are I-662 : (satin gold color), ME -828 (satin grape purple color) and I-229 ( a matte cadet blue). The MUA did an eye look with these colors on my face. I received compliments the rest of the day so I think I’ll keep them.
I’m de-cluttering thus week too Christine.
As I get older, I keep all the cards I receive from my Mom. She gives really great cards with nice notations inside of them. I Aldo keep especially personal cards.

Weekend plans: My Microbiology textbook decided to miss the Saturday delivery and didn’t arrive until AFTER the holiday, so I have tons of notetaking to catch up on. My friend’s wedding is on Saturday, and I’m getting my roots touched up on Sunday.
Do you keep greeting cards?: I keep them on display for several months after I get them, then throw them away when I remember to.
Is Bella Taupe your first in the Bella formula, Veronica?
Yes, it is. Quite a pretty shade, too – love the purple undertone to it. It definitely needs a primer, though, but that may just be my hooded eyes. It’s a nice formula, though I admit the shades they discontinued for this series seemed to wear stronger and more pigmented.
It’s an interesting formula – some shades are really nice, some are less impressive.

Haul: Sephora – UD Anarchy Face Case and Kat von D Poetica palette. From Urban Decay – Lip Junkie Lipgloss that was on sale for $5, so I got all the colors; Eyeshadow Cobra (didn’t have) & Grifter (have, but love); Naked2 Basics palette, and eye primer.
Weekend Plans: Housework and grocery shopping. Blech.
Do you keep greeting cards? I keep ones from my hubby and kids, and certain others that are special. Most I keep for a little while, then recycle.
My husband almost kept the toy for himself, ha!

Yes, I have gotten to try the glosses. I like them, except a couple of the tips got smooshed in transit. I was able to unsmoosh (is that a word?) them enough to make the applicator work. I think the applicators in general aren’t the greatest/most consistent, but I like the gloss. I just smooth over with a lip brush if I need to. For $5, I’m willing to do that.
I hear ya – a few issues that can be fixed at $5 are easier to overlook!
Haul: Lancome new Grandiose mascara and bareMinerals BB Cream Eyeshadow in Candlelit Peach. I received them today!
Plans: nothing special! Inevitably, some house chores, hopefully a lot of relaxation and some exercise.
Greeting cards: I usually keep them for a few month (often clipped on my fridge) and then throw them away. I keep the ones that come from our closest friends. I do keep all postcards though.

Haul: Charlotte Tilbury Rock Chick palette and Colour Chameleon in Amethyst Aphrodisiac, Ardency Inn eyeshadow in Rose Gold (it’s even prettier in person – thanks Christine!), Mac Electric Cool Eye Shadow in Superwatt, Mac Technakohl Liner in Graphblack, Mac Eye Kohl in Tarnish, Mac Icon and Explicit (once again, thanks Christine!), Mac Beauty Marked and Shale eyeshadows (those are my first 2 mac eyeshadows, funny, hmm?, I’ve never seemed to care much for them, but I decided to give them a try).
Weekend plans: I work on Saturdays :(, but on Sunday or Monday (my days off) I’m probably going to see a movie and dine out.
Do you keep greeting cards? Not really, unless it was sent by someone very, very special.

Weekend plans: it’s Father’s Day on Sunday, so there will be brunch! Otherwise, ballet (duh!). 🙂
Greeting cards: same as you – only if there’s a really special message, or I can recycle them into other designs. I don’t actually get many greeting cards as an adult, actually. Obviously I keep all the wonderful ones my husband hand makes for me ^_^

Haul: Uh, I’ve become totally obsessed with r/makeupexchange so I have two hauls! My swap haul: MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus foundation, Urban Decay Deluxe shadow box, and MAC Blacktrack. My store haul: I bought MAC eyebrow pencils in Lingering and Brunette and both were too warm, so I returned and bought Anastasia Brow Wiz in medium ash — PERFECT. Then, the Too Faced Matte Eye palette in a set with an eyeliner and lip palette that was part of a half off sale on the site, so that’s frickin’ sweet.
Weekend plans: We’re moving soon, so my plans, realistically? Do absolutely nothing while thinking about packing. Maybe I’ll get lucky.
Do I keep greeting cards: I haven’t gotten a greeting card in years. I don’t usually keep them though.

Haul, Two eyeshadows from Sephora, a yellos and a green. Shower gel and body oil from Body Shop, their ned Argan Oil line. Clarisonic Mia 2, Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser. Laura Mercier setting powder, Matte Translucent, NARS Nico and Hoola. Two of the things I got I’ve been thinking of, looking at, wanting for quite some time, the Clarisonic and, yes that’s right Hoola 🙂
Weekenplans, selling crafty things, pearls, yarn and other stuff at the local fleamarket, done now, and I did sell for more than I payed for the spot. YAY! Tomorrow, Sunday, relax and walk the dog.
Greeting cards, I have saved quite a lot, from my great grandparnets (maternal) from my grandparents (maternal) from my mother, my sons father, and from my son. Some from friends and old ones, that look as if they were form the 1920s, but can’t be as they were for me, and I’m not quite that old. So mostly for sentimental reasons. I just went through the collection the other day, throwing away cards form cousins, reading some of the cards I kept, feeling really nostalgic, especially when I read a note from my grandmother that I gor the first time I was away from the famliy. She wrote that our dog, a German Shepherd had missed me so much she haden’t eaten for a couple of days, and then she had drawn aroung the dogs paw, as a greeting from the dog. I was so teary eyed after reading the note. My grandparents and that dog were so special. I still miss them all.

How lovely — I think it’s great that you save cards and re-read through them! I love when people send cards with real messages inside them, just because I find that makes them special.
Haul: Nothing. I hauled last week and include the bought products into my makeup routine this week.
