- Haul/Rediscoveries: Dyson Flat Iron, Uoma Carnival Palette, Benefit Georgia Blush
- Weekend plans: I’m actually getting my hair done again, which is a couple of weeks earlier than I anticipated (I was going to go in closer to eight weeks) after reassessing just how much extra I know I’ll be dealing with (personally) starting next week and lingering as far as into August with little to no let-up! (I’m stressed just thinking about what’s coming, haha!)
- What’s one thing you do daily (or nearly!) that you love to do?: Hug and kiss hubby and Mellan!

^ Old photo but this is basically us since it’s been raining since Tuesday!!
My dog is a burrower, too! Mellan is so adorable!
Haul: No makeup, but I bought a Calvin Klein bag on sale for $59 (originally $250).
Weekend plans: Laying low, avoiding crowds, visiting family, household chores, catching up on The Walking Dead and Outlander. Maybe getting back to watching Russian Doll, which I started watching a few weeks ago. And trying not to obsessively watch the news.
What’s one thing you do daily (or nearly!) that you love to do? Getting into bed at the end of the day with a good comfort movie.
Haul: Nothing at all! My no buy comes to an “end” in two and a half weeks and I may purchase a couple of things, but I may just keep this train rolling! I’ve gotten so much use out of what I have and have been more inspired now than I have been in a long time. I do want to save up my money and buy the ND Metropolis palette sometime this year, and hopefully on sale, but that is the only thing I find myself really wanting to buy. Just not now.
Rediscoveries: My Laura Geller Baked Blush N Brighten blushes. I forgot how pretty they are! I layer them over a cream blush, and they’re so glowy that I don’t have to use highlighter. And they just shine after I use setting spray. I have Pink Buttercream and Peach Delight and I love them both.
Weekend plans: Hopefully disinfecting high traffic surfaces in my house, cleaning my car, and washing my makeup brushes. And spending some time outside with my son.
What’s one thing you do daily (or nearly!) that you love to do?: Play with my son in the evenings. We run around, rough-house a little bit (usually him climbing on me and me attacking him with kisses on his cheeks) play with toys and read books. I love those couple of hours before bedtime and love knowing that he goes to bed after some quality time with family and with a smile on his face.
It’s such a great time of day when you have little kids. It’s my favorite time of day too, it’s so much less hurried than mornings. There’s a calmness. I love the routine of playing before bed (getting all our wiggles out), snack & tv (Mickey mouse obsessed lately), bath, books, snuggles, bed. It really is the best when you have little ones!
Celesta, I’ve been thinking about that metropolis palette too! I don’t have any make up from Natasha denona.i guess we’ll both be on the look out for a sale!
*cross fingers.
Mellan looks nice and cozy, we’re in the middle of a major snowstorm so that’s exactly what I’m doing today!
Haul/Rediscoveries:Nothing, I made a U.S. beauty shopping list because we were supposed to be leaving for the U.S. tomorrow but now I don’t know if we will be due to Covid 19.
Weekend plans: Dealing with this snowstorm and figuring out where to go for our vacation.
What’s one thing you do daily (or nearly!) that you love to do?: My skincare routine, it calms me and it is something that I can control.
Yep, Mellan, it’s been a doggy, wet one this week! ⛈️
Haul: Nothing makeup related. I FINALLY found a website where I was able to buy a 30 oz. bottle of hand sanitizer!
Weekend plans: Tomorrow is tentatively moving day! Woohoo! I’m so exhausted from packing and hauling stuff out of here, but I’m also feeling a wild mix of anxiety and exhilaration, too. North Glendale is quite a ways from here even though it’s still a part of the greater Phoenix Metro Area. Very different vibe, though. It will be nice to be near both of my adult children, however!
What is one thing you do daily (or nearly!) that you love to do? Time with my cats! Picking up my great big Maine Coon mix, Scunci, and hold him close like a human child. Or play with his half sibling, Clarissa, with her laser pointer. And of course I love receiving head bonks and “kisses” from them both. ?
*soggy, not doggy! ?
Voice typing doesn’t always understand what I’m saying!
Good luck with the move! I’m so happy you found a nice place!
Thanks Rachel! It is so much nicer of a place. Better and quieter neighborhood, too. I’ll miss having a nearby MAC store and a really large Sephora so close, but at least I can see my kids more regularly now.
Haul:
*Physician’s Formula (40% off sale) — Butter Blush in Beachy Peach and Saucy Mauve, Murumuru Butter Glow Face Palette, Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Blush, Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner & Serum (backup), and Butter Bronzer in Light (backup).
*E.l.f. — Liquid Glitter Eyeshadow in Black Magic, Disco Queen, Ocean Eyes, Dirty Martini, and Bling Bling; Sheer Slick Lipstick in Jam or Jelly and Wild Peach; Bite-Size Eyeshadows in Truffles; and (GWP) Rose Gold Eyeshadow Palette in Sunset.
*Dollar Tree — E.l.f. Lipsticks in Socialite and Classy; two Wet n Wild Smoky Liner Brush; two Wet n Wild Small Eyeshadow Brush.
Weekend plans: Tomorrow we’re going to Pendleton to pick up my husband’s car, which we lent to friends who were moving. I’ll take down some makeup I’m destashing and let my friend have her pick. Sunday — SSDI renewal paperwork for my older son, and getting some outfits ready for work. While I’m in training, I’ll be starting at 7 a.m., so I want clothing ready to go.
What’s one thing you do daily (or nearly!) that you love to do?: Hug and kiss my husband and sons, and pet the kitties.
Haul: I gave my sis in law my bottle of Youth to the People Superberry Glow Oil as she was lamenting her dry skin and commenting on how glowing (nice, eh?) my skin always looks. Turns out, she loves the stuff too! Anyway, I had to get a new bottle to replace it and I also picked up the Farsali Rose Gold Facial Mist. Yesterday (20% off AND a $10 off gift card), I treated myself to a bottle of Thierry Mugler Angel, a fragrance which used to smell dreadful on me but which I now like (I guess my chemistry is changing as I age!).
Weekend plans: working out with my trainer tomorrow and then my niece and her boyfriend are having an open house for people to see the new home they bought. And THEN……my BOY will be home for a whole 11 days. He’s being deployed next month to Ukraine so he gets to visit home before that. And because of the Covid19 virus, all publicly funded schools (both public and Catholic, since Catholic schools here are funded by tax dollars) are closing for an additional 2 weeks after the March Break which just started today so I will have lots and lots of time to spend with my son (maybe not a lot to do as more and more businesses, galleries, theatres, etc. are also closing).
Something I do daily or nearly every day that I love to do? Well, coming to Temptalia IS something I do EVERY day and I love it but I guess the top of my list is kissing my husband and joking with him. I think the love and the humor are what’s kept us going for 40 years!
Congratulations on the 40 years. Quite an accomplishment.
Thank you for the good wishes, Shari. Looking back, while we’ve had some bumps in the road, it’s actually been easy but I think it’s because I waited and married the right man.
Haul: Nothing! Even went to the mall last weekend to support a couple local businesses there and I walked past Sephora without even going inside.
Rediscoveries: Last night I used some of the shadows I popped out of my old UD palettes last week. All the ones I tried are still good! I was amused when I looked and realized that out of those two 16-pan palettes, there was only ONE matte shade (matte black of course). I’ll definitely have to be reaching for other palettes and singles to make use of these colors, lol.
Weekend plans: Things are closing down right and left up here in the Seattle area. My spouse and I might go out tomorrow to a cool neighborhood and support some of the local shops, restaurants, and bars while we still can (don’t worry, we’ll bring hand san and wash our hands a lot). Otherwise going to be a lot of hunkering down at home. We’re finally watching The Witcher and I’ve got lots of books to read and lots of craft and costuming projects to work on.
What do I do almost every day that I love? DANCE!!! I practice dance almost every day. It’s really important not just for my mental health, but to have a daily movement practice to counter the fact that I work at my desk all day and also enjoy a lot of seated hobbies (video games, reading, Netflix, crafting).
Haul/Rediscoveries: Nothing new, but I might end up taking advantage this weekend of the Paula’s Choice 25% off, I need some stocks of SPF for the summer.
Weekend plans: No public events, museums are closed, everybody is in isolation mode… can’t even make weekend plans. At this point the whole situation yields too much anxiety for me, I really want to go out and do something… but I can’t. I’ll try to do some stuff around the house, try to identify an secluded space to walk in… but at this rate they’ll soon close even recreational and hiking areas. 🙁
What’s one thing you do daily (or nearly!) that you love to do?: I love how heart warming all the responses are… but mine are quite dull and selfish. I actually love to take a long daily walk, to clear my mind, and cooking everyday; they’re my `meditation` moments, in which I de-stress. I also love my skincare routine at night.
Rediscovery: It’s a skin care duo, CeraVe moisturizing cream with coconut oil over top. I was getting so itchy from fragranced stuff. Went back to my pregnancy dry skin staples and within 2 nights my skin was 100% better. I’ve been on a skin care kick lately.
Weekend plans: Staying away from a grocery store. Avoiding the news and panic. Hanging out with my husband, kids, and dogs. Keeping it low key, because people are being kind of high strung near me.
What do I love doing every day? It’s part of our night routine. Watching my 2&1 year old calm and fall asleep while we snuggle in bed, then carrying them to their cribs and tucking them in for the night. I love the whole night time routine. It’s calm. The morning is much more hectic!
Mellon, you look so, so cute wrapped up in those blankets!
Haul: my skincare products from Cosmetic Capital arrived this week – serums and moisturing creams from Skin Doctors and other brands.
Rediscoveries: Still using Lancome’s Jade Fever with other neutral shades from other palettes.
Weekend Plans: Well we were outbid on the house last weekend. The owners wanted a lot, lot more than advertised and the house has been passed in and taken off the market. It was a big let down.
Friday – I went out for lunch with my two best girlfriends for a good chat and catchup, which was lovely.
Saturday – just housework and never ending laundry.
Sunday – not quite sure what I will be doing.
This virus that is now circulating around the world has hastened everyone to purchase a lot more food to last a quarantine period. So we have a bought a few more things. I am not really a cook that buys a lot of canned food, I tend to cook from scratch. It has been hard to know what to purchase.
My eldest son, who is a senior systems analyst at his workplace, has been told that working from home will be an option.
I hope everyone here remains well and OK.
Daily love: I love to have my cup of coffee and read this blog! Apart from that, I love seeing my grandchildren, which I do nearly every second day.
I’m so sorry about the house. I really hope something else comes along that will work out for them.
I recently rediscovered the Flower Beauty Blush Bomb (in the shade Melon) in my collection and have been loving this so much I’ve been using it every day. Only hauling I’ve done recently are repurchases of skin care products I use all the time.
Weekend plans? Spending some quality time with the husband, kids and dog. Everyone will be home, and I’m looking forward to getting outside to enjoy the weather while walking the dog. Aside from that, the usual chores.
The one thing I try to do daily, and love to do, is make others feel special. I’m the eternal optimist and love to turn any situation into something positive. Life is too short to feel anything less than happy.
Haul/ rediscoveries:
Koh Gen Do Brightening moisture powder, its really good. I’m glad they bought it back, although I was in Japan when they released it. I could’ve probably saved at least $10 if I did purchase it back then. I used it to finish my makeup today, I used milk make up sunshine skin tint as base with nars sheer glow in areas where I needed more coverage. All of these on top of sunscreen, They all sat well on the skin.
Wayne goes, brush 02, I have noticed brands pulling out squirrel brushes and Ive been wanting this brush so I decided to just buy it.
Nabla cosmetics secret palette and lime crime venus XL2, I tried to talk myself out of the lime crime palette. But the colors really spoke to me, these two palettes are my first eyeshadow venture away from viseart and mac. I’ve been pleasantly surprised.
Nars eyeshadow primer, it really adds a silky base for eyeshadow. I have been using mac prep and prime until now.
Mac uninterrupted eyeshadow and improper copper cream Color base, the cream Color base is beautiful I layered it with becca lantana (using a fluffy brush for a soft diffused look) and hourglass bronzing powder in radiant Bronze light.
EM cosmetics Heavens glow blushes in faded clementine and Magic hour. Very nice blushes, they also layer nicely with other blushes.
I have been enjoying make up a lot lately, it’s nice to just experiment and take time to get fixed up. I’m due in less than 6 weeks and my toddler is turning two in less than two weeks. It’s going to be hectic, playing with make up is a nice way to ease into the madness.
Weekend plans: get back on school work and do some more spring cleaning. The baby is coming and we’ve barely done anything to prepare for him. School and work has been a lot.
What’s one thing you do daily (or nearly!) that you love to do?:
Spending time with my son and husband, I can’t believe that there will be four of us pretty soon.
Haul/Rediscoveries: A new e.l.f. blush brush (I had 2, one older and one newer-I did a brush-cleaning session this week and the old one held on to way too much cleaner, even after 24 hours), a new pack of Neutrogena makeup remover wipes, and 2 velvet burnout Allegro makeup bags-one red, one blue-with black furry pompoms on the zippers. I’m using them to hold the Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips collection I’m slowly building. I can’t go into work for 2-3 weeks (the library system I work for is now closed for about that length of time as a virus prevention measure), so I bought the bags as a little mood-booster/attempt not to go crazy being stuck at home.
Weekend plans: Ran errands using social distancing today, watched syndicated MST3K reruns tonight (syndicated broadcast sci-fi channel Comet runs 2 episodes, usually 1 Joel and 1 Mike, every Friday night starting around 10:00-10:30), SVU marathon tomorrow, spend most of the weekend figuring out how not to go crazy. I still plan on doing makeup every day-it’ll keep a sense of normalcy and hopefully help with the sanity preservation.
What’s one thing you do daily (or nearly!) that you love to do?: Besides makeup? A toss-up between surfing the Internet, reading, and listening to music.
I hope you don’t go stir crazy at home. Our county library is closing down completely next week.
Thanks for the well-wishes and the same to you! Today’s SVU marathon has definitely helped preserved my sanity. I’m only one day in, but so far, continuing to do my makeup the way I would normally also seems to be helping.
