- Haul: Becca Royal Glow Highlighter, Morphe Highlighters, Maybelline Master Chrome Highlighters (x2)
- Weekend plans: Looks like summer collections have really kicked off, so I’m working through my budget and schedule to try and see what I can cover and when.
- Do you like to binge-watch a TV show?: I can make it through maybe two episodes, three if it’s a shorter show, but it’s hard for me to watch anything on TV for more than a couple hours.

Haul: Voodoo vice lipstick w/engraved case and Sin highlighter (birthday gift) from Urban Decay. Pressing kit from TKB so I can press all my loose shadows and hopefully use them more.
Weekend Plans: Depending on the weather we might go downtown or to the arboretum. It was my 35th birthday yesterday so we went out to dinner last night and are going to take it easy/do something fun this weekend.
Do you like to binge-watch tv: I’m a professional tv watcher extraordinaire 🙂 . I just blew through Black Sails in 5 days lol.
Happy belated birthday!
Happy Birthday Alice and I hope you have a lovely weekend.
Happy Birthday Alice! Enjoy you weekend 🙂
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday, Alice!
Haul: KVD Brow Pomade in Medium Brown, KVD Brow Pencil in Dark Brown (I already owned the KVD Brow Powder in Walnut), Dior Air Flash Foundation in 501, Dior Fix-It Concealer in Dark (I’m really on the fence on whether I like this and find it worth the money. It may go back from whence it came), Murad City Skin SPF, Dior Lacquer Plump in Sweet-D, Fenty Killawat Foil in Mimosa Sunrise/Sangria Sunset, Fenty Summer Nights Gloss Trio, Tatcha The Pearl Tinted Eye Cream in Candlelight, Sunday Riley Tidal Water Cream
Weekend plans: Watch my nephew tonight, wash my hair tonight, workout on Saturday and work on Saturday, workout on Sunday and visit my grandparents on Sunday
Do you like to binge-watch a TV show?: If I have the time I will because I don’t normally have the time to keep up with the weekly releases
HAUL: I switched concealers. I used NARS RCC for years in Chantilly. I started doing my makeup differently this year (much lighter coverage) and the color of Chantilly is just too chalky looking. The other NARS colors aren’t quite right for me so I went to look at MAC Studio Finish concealer and was sure I would need NC10, but left with NC15. It’s great, it basically performs just like the NARS one but a better color match and I can back to MAC it (and I can scrape every bit from the pot and not waste anything stuck in a glass tube).
WEEKEND: Girls night 🙂
Absolutely I love to binge. There’s a security in knowing what my entertainment is for the night, instead of flipping around trying to decide. But I typically would choose something that only has 1-4 seasons (in total or so far). That way I know I have plenty of fun ahead, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I think Sephora still has the Swoon tool, and Ulta has 2 mini spatulas in their new crop of tools. I waste NOTHING, esp skincare.
Sephora Haul (with the help of a Sephora gift card):
Dior Addict Lip Glow in Berry (beautiful and hydrating), Marc Jacobs Highliner in Mist Me, and Kiehl’s Avocado Eye Treatment (to replace the one I just finished).
Colourpop Haul:
Fame Eyeshadow Palette, Contempo Lippie Stix, and my first Lux Lipsticks in Still Crazy and Getty. I have no idea what prompted me to buy Getty. It was late at night when I placed the order and I was half-asleep. But after trying it on, I think I really like myself in this crazy cool teal shade…though my husband seems a bit unsure about it.
MAC Haul:
I did a Back-to-MAC and got a lipstick that’s unlike any other shade in my stash: Blankety. I never buy shades this light, but I was surprised at how much I like it. (Two of my returns were lipsticks I only used once and hated. I’d been debating returning them, but I decided it was a bigger waste of money to have them sitting in my stash gathering dust when I could use them to get a new lipstick that I love.)
Weekend Plans: A get-together with friends
Do you like to binge-watch a TV show? I didn’t watch Breaking Bad when it was on TV, but a couple years after it was over, I binged-watched the whole thing beginning-to-end in about a week. I also binge-watched Black Mirror and the first two seasons of Orange Is the New Black, but then lost interest. I can also get caught up in all-day marathons, like Twilight Zone and The Office.
No hauls this past week and no weekend plans (except maybe to binge watch Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt on Netflix) but I just had to comment on Mellan “If you really loved me, you would give me a treat or three.”
Haul: Small makeup haul this week because I spent a ton on jewelry, handbags, and shoes (LOL)
Illamasqua (Sale + 15% off foundation): Skin Base Foundation (Shade 6 – backup), Face Brush, Gel Sculpt (Silhouette – backup), Lipstick (Impulsive), Fine Eyeliner Brush With Cover
Kiss My Sass (50% off): Sparkle Pop Top Coat (Don’t Make Me Wait, Angel Blade), Cream Highlighter (Cupcakes & Kisses, Miami Glow)
Laqa: Lip Lube (Grape Scotch, Menatour), 3 Piece GWP
LASplash Cosmetics (25% off – Code BINX): Lumos Liquid Metals Duo: Jumbo Felt-Tip Liner & Cut Crease Definer (Lumos, Salem)
Luckyscent: Fragrance Samples – Dusita Erawan EDP, Montale (Day Dream EDP, Intense Café EDP, Intense Tiare EDP, Jasmin Full EDP, Vanilla Cake EDP), Tauer Perfumes Les Annees 25 EDP
LunatiCk Cosmetic Labs (50% off): Lipstick (Lacrimosa, Bruja)
Weekend plans: Returns at Ulta, haircut, work on my blog, mani, maybe plan a short vacation
Do you like to binge-watch a TV show?: In general, no. Sometimes I can watch back to back episodes of shows like Star Trek, Twilight Zone, or Doctor Who.
Haul: 11 Colourpop Lippie Stixs that I grabbed during their BOGO sale! I don’t remember all of the colors I got, but one is the Primer. I’m almost over my cold so I have yet to try them.
Weekend plans: Just cleaning, cleaning, and more cleaning. Try not to be jealous! lol
Do you like to binge-watch a TV show?: Depends on the show! Shows like Grey’s and Stranger Things? Absolutely, I’ll sit down with my husband we will watch 2-3 episodes. When Season 2 of Stranger Things was first released we made a point to only watch one episode a night so we wouldn’t blow through it too fast like we did with the first season lol
Haul: Mac harmony blush (pan only). I’m going on a trip next month and I want everything to be able to fit into a magnetic palette. I already have single eyeshadows (colourpop) as well as blush and highlighter (both tarte), but was in need of a single bronzer. Technically mac harmony is a blush, but I think I’ll be able to pull it off as a bronzer on my skin tone. Fingers crossed!
Weekend plans: Getting all the split ends cut off my hair.
Do you like to binge-watch a TV show?: Oh yeah, it’s a problem lol. A few months ago my boyfriend was on vacation but I had to work, so I stayed home and was spending my nights and weekend alone. In that week I think I got through 3 or 4 seasons of Downton Abbey, which are all 40 min episodes…
Haul:
*NYX (25% off sale) — All the Prismatic Pro Shadow Refills; free gifts of Worth the Hype Mascara and holographic train case.
*Sephora — Kevyn Aucoin The Neo-Blush Trio in Sunset; point perk rollerball of Elizabeth & James Nirvana French Gray; samples.
*Apocalyptic Beauty subscription service — Feline Fatale Collection: Eyeshadows in I like the Dark, Tiger’s Tail, and Soft Undercore, and Liquid Lipstick in Fresh Kill.
*Other — TheBalm Take Home the Bronze Anti-Orange Bronzer in Oliver
Weekend plans: My mother is still in ICU. So visiting her. Return KVD Glimmer Veil in Gold Skool to Sephora. Fill out paperwork. Grocery shopping and laundry.
Do you like to binge-watch a TV show?: I don’t usually have time, but sometimes I like to. Usually I wait till I’m sick, or a weekend.
Prayer list. That’s a long time to be critical. Sure hope she gets stepped down soon, and home immediately after.
Thank you very much, love. She’s still needing a machine to help her breathe. She opted for another week to see if she can wean off the machine. The odds aren’t very good, though. At her last checkup prior to this episode, she was given only three months to live, so it’s not a surprise. I hate to see her so miserable, though.
Your mum must really be very ill if she is still in ICU. Wishing her well for a really good recovery. How are you holding up Rachel? It must be very tough on you.
She is in bad shape, and still needing a machine to help her breathe. I’m holding out OK, though I’m exhausted. There’s a lot of baggage that goes along with my mother due to her mental illnesses and abuse, so that’s something my brothers and I have had to see past. She would be there for us if we were in the hospital, though, and I know she loves us. My brothers and husband have been a great support.
Sorry to hear your mother is still in ICU. I hope they are just being cautious and that she will be able to go to a step down unit soon. I will keep you both in my prayers.
Thank you, Deborah. She is still needing a machine to help her breathe. We’ll see if she gains enough strength to not need it. They are trying for another week to build up her nutrition and strength.
Keeping your mum in my prayers.
Thank you, Nicole!
Continuing to keep you and your family in my prayers for the best possible outcome. I know that this has been a very rough time for you, Rachel. (((((Hugs)))))
Thank you, Nancy! You’ve been wonderful to me through this.
Yep, I’m returning KVD Gold Skool too. Sorry to hear your mom’s still in the hospital. Keeping you and your family in my thoughts
Thank you, Katherine!
Sorry to hear your Gold Skool sucked, too. It could have been so pretty if the quality were up with the other Glimmer Veils.
Rachel,
I have been very busy the past week and am just now getting the chance to check the free haul. I am so sorry to hear of your mother’s condition. I have possibly a similar experience. I did not have contact with my mother for over 10 years due to her past history of alcoholism and abuse. I came back into her life and she was diagnosed with cancer. I had to overlook our entire history to be with her at the end. I was unable/unwilling to address the past with her. I was thankful to have that final time with her. Like you, I know she loved me; however, she was too ill to be an appropriate mother for any child.
It sounds like this might be the end, and my heart goes out to you if this is already the case.
That sweet face and gentle eyes are exactly what I needed to see this morning. ❤️
Haul: Fenty Summer Nights lip gloss duo and the double ended Mamacita /Tini Kini liquid eyeshadow duo. Just as I feared, tearing messed up my eye look yesterday when I wore it. So, I went into Ulta for the Nyx Proof It Waterproof Eyeshadow Primer. Let’s see if this works, otherwise I will have to bring the duo back. Also bought a new Nyx Mauve Slim Lip Pencil and Essence Out Of Space Stories Nail polish in Outta Space Is The Place. While in Ulta, I received a very upsetting phone call from an old best friend of mine. 58 this month and she’s in the hospital dx’d with a brain tumor causing her blood pressure to skyrocket. Got home, and then a call from my daughter, too. She’s also been to the ER earlier yesterday. Told to see her PCP asap for a cardiologist referral. I’m scared beyond words.
Weekend plans: Idk, other than my usual routine. Have to be able to answer incoming calls from family and friend on the fly and with a quiet, private background.
Binge watch TV? Not more than maybe 2 episodes of anything in a row. I just don’t have the attention span for it anymore!
Wow, look like lots of prayers are in order, for w.e. plans. Best wishes for better health for you friend and your daughter.
This was truly a double shocker last night, KJH. The 2 calls were only 2 ½ hours apart! Still waiting for my friend in Cali to let me know what the neurosurgeon said to her today. I’m praying for good news. Daughter has an appointment next Friday with her cardiologist. I need a few stiff ones on the rocks.
Sorry to hear such bad news 🙁 I hope the pain eases for you soon!
Nancy, sorry to hear about your friend and especially about your daughter. Thinking positive thoughts for both of them and for you too.
Sending prayers your way Nancy – what an absolute shock to get two phone calls like that!
I hope your daughter and friend receive positive news and feel better soon.
I am sending healing vibes out to your daughter and your friend.
Sorry to hear about your friend and daughter. I am praying you get nothing but good news.
Thank you all so much for the prayers and good wishes for both of these very special women. This is definitely not the sort of bad news no one expects to have happen twice in a matter of less than 3 hours. All I can do at the moment is be supportive to them both, and to keep them constantly in my prayers to God Himself.
Nancy,
I missed a lot by not checking in last Friday. I hope your friend got some positive news and that your daughter remains stable.
Tammy, my daughter has 2 Dr. appointments this coming Friday morning, so hopefully some clearer picture of what’s going on. My good friend decided to have herself discharged against medical advisement due to being pressured to go against her Bible based religious beliefs. She’s going to look into a different hospital. In the meantime, I’m just forcing myself to stay calm until all is settled.
Stay strong Nancy. Sending your daughter and your friend my best wishes for good health and healing along with plenty of positive vibes.
Oh my gosh, when it rain, it pours! So sorry about all the bad news. The waiting and not knowing must be so stressful, but hoping for better news soon
My god, Nancy. That’s total stress. Keep us posted if you will. We’ll be thinking of you. xoxo
*Haul – JLO x Inglot Livin’ The Highlight in Radiant
*Weekend -will be celebrating some family graduations, so lots of good eats
*Would love to watch TV but no time
Two of the three mascaras from Nordie’s came. Kevyn’s Bloodroses and YSL Vinyl in whatever the blue shade is. The print is too small for anyone but a Lilliputian with a giant’s magnifier. Most colored mascaras dry down much darker, but that blue stays fairly bright. SSDW, but thought I would go to a dog show tomorrow, but they forgot AGAIN to alternate my w/e nights, and it’s going to rain. I got enough done this AM before work to feel ok if I just laze. Cut my finger with a hedge clipper, but did such a good job on the aftercare that 2 nurses, who rewrapped it, agree that it doesn’t need stitches. Needs babying, though, and I have an exclamation point, should I need to flip s.o. the bird. Binging, kind of. I do run straight through, but not all at once. The latest were Sneaky Pete 1 and Bosch 2 on Amazon.
I hope your finger gets better soon, it is so annoying when a finger is out of action. Easy to bump as well. Take care kjh.
According to Nordstrom’s website, your blue YSL mascara’s called I’m the Trouble, for future reference and for anyone who’s curious. The Kevyn Aucoin Bloodroses is really pretty-I’ve never seen a burgundy quite like that!
Haul: Lots of Colourpop from the 20% off sale they had! Christine–you are such an angel for putting together the Temptalia swatch gallery and meticulous reviews! I spent hours examining swatches and reviews and finally narrowed it down to vacation mode eye quad, topanga lippie stix, drop of a hat blush, and thirteen matte eyeshadow singles! (feathered, popular demand, conundrum, facet, razy, chic happens, take the lead, lil’ boat, top notch, two to mango, howlin’, pretty cruel, and freckles!) Once they have more stuff back in stock, I’ll be back as well: sale or not
Weekend plans: Cleaning and organizing
Do you like to binge-watch a TV show? Sure. Last time I did that was for Bluebloods. Not proud of it course, I’d rather be productive.
Haul: I got some new New Balance shoes, a new bra, and some new body wash. My mum has just left the area, so hopefully budget will go back to normal soon. I did get some aloe and mouthwash from TJ’s which is amazing!
Weekend: It’s going to be super hot here in my area so probably just laying in the pool. Just got a Costco membership so we’re going there tonight!
TV: Oh yeah, I can watch about 4 or 5 hours with little breaks of course.
Colourpop: 4 super shock shadows (hammered, chromoscope, soul-cialize, and frog), a super shock cheek (between the sheets), a supernova shadow (lucky penny), a lip gloss (aquarius), and a dual fiber brush. I always wanted a dual fiber brush for blending out blushes and bronzers.
Clarisonic: Got a Mia 2 and got a deep pore cleansing brush for free, and also got a sensitive brush head because I didn’t know it comes with a brush head so now I have 3!
Lancome: Teint Idole Ultra 24 hr wear foundation in 160 and Monseur big mascara set. 160 is supposed to be warm toned I’m pretty sure, but it turns out to be completely pink and I’m so disappointed. Returned!
Haul: I picked up a bottle of REN Flash Defence Anti Pollution Mist. It’s on sale for half price at Sephora and while I don’t put any credence in the “anti pollution” claims, it is a wonderful mist/setting spray. So today, I went back to get a 2nd bottle as it seems this is being phased out.
Weekend plans: gym, some gardening (we have a weird and lethal looking weed/tree growing in the backyard garden and we’ll need metal armor to try to dig it out and dispose of it). I also want to bake some desserts with the lovely rhubarb I’ve been harvesting.
Binge watch – not often but I did binge watch Trapped (Icelandic murder mystery) and the 2nd season of Happy Valley (British murder mystery).
OMG Mariella – I have just bought Season 2 of Happy Valley as I missed a couple of episodes when taping it on the TV. It was on sale at our local electronics store and I snapped it up. Love, love, love British crime dramas.
I must have a look at Trapped…..
Haul: I placed an order with DECIEM for The Ordinary (also it sucks that they’re not carrying the brand at Sephora anymore!) for Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, Matrixyl 10% + HA, Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA, and the Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution. I also placed a Sephora order for the Fenty Killawatt Foil Freestyle Highlighter Duo in Sand Castle/ Mint’d Mojito along with the BITE birthday gift.
Weekend plans: Not much. Enjoying the break from my mom being in town.
Do you like to binge-watch a TV show?: Not usually, but sometimes there will be a show I haven’t seen that I discover and watch like the whole first season in a few days. Granted those are usually SciFi shows so the seasons are like 10-13 episodes.
Happy Birthday Anne!
Happy birthday!
Haul: Blithe Apricot Gold pressed serum, some BH makeup brushes, TooFaced Natural Face palette and Soap & Glory Melty Purpose balm.
Weekend plans: Absolutely nothing. It’s a long weekend with Monday off and we have zero plans. I might make beef stroganoff and bake a banana cake at some point.
Binge watching: Nah, can’t do it. I’ll watch maybe 2 episodes in a row and then it’s time for something else.
A beautiful photo of Mellan.
Haul: The June sales are starting in earnest here, but I haven’t found any makeup that I like on sale. We don’t have the generous sales that you have in the States at all here. I have just picked up some winter clothes.
Weekend plans: I am just getting over a cold – nearly gone, so I will be chilling out this weekend. It has been perfect Melbourne winter weather here – really cold nights (down to 1 -3 deg in our area) and beautiful sunny days. Probaly will go for a drive and possibly have the grand children over.
Binge Watch – There is nothing better than getting your favourite TV show/drama and watching it in inclement weather. I can usually only sit through an episode or two at a time before getting up and doing something.
Haul: Nothing. Yeah for me on my no-buy!!
Weekend plans: I will be attending a funeral. My cousin was killed in a car accident Monday night. He rolled his SUV when the back wheel came off. He had 6 children in the car and his daughter. His daughter and one child were air-evac’d to tertiary hospital and are both in critical condition. Only one of the them was wearing a seatbelt so my cousin and his daughter were both thrown from the car and he was pinned under the car. My Mom has taken it pretty hard so will be spending time with family. I had committed to spending time with a friend who was in from another state and we went to Glacier National Park. I had wanted to cancel my plans but since she was already on her way here when the accident occurred I didn’t want to bail out on her and in the end I was glad I went. I just got home tonight and will go to funeral over the weekend. Glacier National Park is such a beautiful, relaxing place and the whole environment was so good for my soul. I posted a couple of pictures on IG. They have been doing work on Going To The Sun Highway so there weren’t many people in the park which is very unusual for this time of year. It made it possible to get out and take pictures and just absorb the beauty, tranquility and the sound of nature all around.
Binge watching programs: I really don’t very often but I do have marathons where my daughter and I will watch all four seasons of BBC Sherlock in one sitting or we will watch all of the Star Wars movies in one sitting. Usually on days when the weather does not allow for much to be done outside so in the winter mainly.

OMG, Deborah, I’m so sorry that your family has been hit so hard by this unbelievably tragic accident. It’s never easy losing a loved one, but children severely injured like that is just so difficult on their families. Praying for the survivors full and speedy recovery.
Deborah, I’m so sorry to hear about this horrible accident. I’m keeping you and your family in my thoughts
Deborah S — My god, what a tragedy. Condolences to all and I hope those babies who were hurt see recovery. Oh dear.
Nature will always work to restore the soul and balance. Good call that you went. The heavy rush of waterfall in the spring is everything.
Deborah,
OMG, what a shock! Are the children who were airlifted stable now? What an incredible shock for your entire family. I can’t imagine the grief your cousin’s mother must be feeling. Was your cousin married? How is the mother of your cousin’s daughter fairing? What a horrible experience for all involved.
I saw your photos on Instagram. I sometimes cannot believe there are still such gorgeous places to be seen in the United States.
Haul: Kobe Softymo Cleansing Oil. This stuff…is amazing. It takes everything off and is removed easily with water. 10/10 would bottle with Korean ingredients I can’t read again.
Weekend plans: So much homework to catch up on.
Do you like to binge-watch a TV show?: Not really. 4-5 episodes is my max and really only if I’m doing a long cycle session.
Haul: I took advantage of a few Memorial Day sales
Oyin Handmade (hair stuff): Honey Hemp conditioner, Ginger Mint Co-Wash, Whipped Pudding, Sugar Berries Pomade, and Oh My Glide! Detangler.
More hair stuff from Aunt Jackie’s: Don’t Shrink Flaxseed Hair Gel and Quench! Leave-In Conditioner.
Stila: Micro Tip Liquid Eye Liner and Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow (Beauty Junkie)
Becca: Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector
Cover FX: Power Play Foundation, Mattifying Primer (acne prone), Enhance Click (Blossom), and Foundation Brush
Glamglow: Supercleanse (cream-to-foam cleanser)
Pat McGrath: Mothership palettes bundle (nice to get 20% off the bundle price; score!).
HSN: Korres Wild Rose 15% Vitamin C Serum
Sephora: Olehenriksen-Balance Force Oil Control Toner (my third bottle of this stuff; love it!), Bite-Amuse Bouche Lipstick (Smoked Za’ Atar), Violet Voss-The Rainbow Eyeshadow Palette, Herbivore-True Blue Skin Clarifying Duo, Milk-Kush Mascara, Sephora Pro Contour Brush #97, Hourglass-Veil Setting Powder, Fenty Beauty-Killawatt Foil (Mimosa/Sangria) and Mattemoiselle lipstick (Candy Venmon), KVD-Superbrow pomade and powder, and NARS-Orgasm Liquid Lipgloss (I am returning this; did not like at all!)
BH Cosmetics: Weekend Festival Eyeshadow Palette
Smashbox: Powder Foundation Brush, Vlada-Eyeshadow Palette and Petal Highlighter (Rosemantic)
Ebay: UD Jean-Michel Basquiat Blush Palette
Marc Jacobs: Finish Line Coconut Setting Powder, Omega Bronze (Tan-Tastic!), and Enamored Nail Lacquer (Fantastic)
Weekend plans: Coloring my hair
Do you binge watch a TV show?: Not very often, but I recently watched a couple seasons of “The Queen” on Netflix straight through. It was very good! I think there may be another season left to watch.
Haul: Not much, just a few necessary things. I haven’t bought anything beauty/skincare-related for the past three weeks prior to this one (I usually go on periods of no-buy or low-buy). I purchased a bottle of Mineral Fusion acetone-free nail polish remover (repurchase), another pair of Cotton Moisture Lock Socks (unbleached cotton) that I use at night after applying a rich foot cream, The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% (repurchase), and two Schmidt’s solid deodorants (no- aluminium, propylene glycol, artificial fragrance and other nasty chemicals); one for my hubby, in Cedarwood & Juniper, and one for me, Rose & Vanilla. My husband replaced his Mitchum deo with Schmidt’s. I didn’t think that I will love the Rose & Vanilla as much as I do (it has a light, natural rose scent, like real roses). I also had the opportunity to test it today, when there were 38C/100.4F here in Montreal with the humidity over the roof, close to 95%. I had really a hard time breathing when outside. It will cool down overnight and the humidity will go back to 40% something. Can’t wait!
If any of my fellow Canadians are lovers of the ILNP nail polishes, you can pre-order from their two summer 2018 collection (Summer 2018 and Summer 2018 Ultra Holos) on Harlow & Co. I’m eyeing Bliss and On Location.
Weekend plans: Just the usual.
Do you like to binge-watch a TV show?: Not so much and no more than two shows in a row. I usually set my DVR for some interesting shows and watch them when I have time. I’ve enjoyed lately “One Strange Rock” narrated by Will Smith (it airs on National Geographic), with the participation of some well-known astronauts. It’s amazing to learn about the Earth’s geological history, terraforming, Mars etc. and what really happens during a spatial mission with the human body. Also, the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s series aired on CNN (produced by Tom Hanks) provided me, a Canadian born and raised in Europe, with an interesting insight into the American history and society.
Haul: Got shampoo, body wash and perfume from Lush back on Saturday.
Weekend plans: Dance performance tomorrow, maybe a geeky craft fair or beer/wine/liquor festival after, haven’t decided. Sunday I have to get up really early and drive my partner down to the airport for a business trip :/ Then I’ve got an online dance class. And I have to find time to run errands, too.
Binge watching: Not so much anymore. I used to be able to but I get restless after one or two episodes. I did watch half of Season 1 of Handmaid’s Tale on the flight home from Europe, because I couldn’t sleep.
Seeing Mellan’s sweet face always brightens up my day ?
Haul: Only makeup/clothing are deliveries from previous orders (which I haven’t gotten to play with yet because I’m in PA and my packages are in OH). I got the Melt Gemini palette and Filth and Columbia eyeliners, and a Strobe Cosmetics single in Azura (free shipping), plus my Memorial Day order from Fabletics: leggings, swimsuit bottoms, a sports bra (my swimsuit top), and a mesh tank.
This week though, I’m buying apartment stuff! This coming fall I’m going to be moving into an apartment for the first time (YAY). In the last few days I’ve gotten/ordered: a small, portable sewing machine from Amazon (I’m crafty and want to make my own curtains/table linens), thread for the sewing machine (also Amazon), a vintage green linen tablecloth with four yellow napkins (courtesy of my older brother, who sells stuff on Ebay for a living), a brand new, unused Black and Decker handheld mixer (courtesy of my grandmother), a twelve-piece Faberware pots and pans set in red (I got this, unused and UNOPENED, for under $40 and I’m SO excited about it), a little basket for the table (for fruit, bread, etc), and a couple of packets of seeds because I want to grow some of my own herbs (sage, thyme, oregano, and yellow marigolds). When I get back from visiting my grandparents and brother in PA I’m going to Home Depot/Lowe’s and Michael’s for spray paint/glitter for the basket. I feel like such a grown up getting all this home stuff – y’all should’ve seen me when I bought new sheets in April LOL.
Weekend plans: I’m finishing up my week-long visit in PA with my grandparents and older brother. I spent all day yesterday running errands and thrifting with my brother. 10 stops. Over 6 hours. I’m beat. Today I’m going with my grandma to get some acrylic nails (she wants them and I’m tagging along, not sure I’m going to do the whole fake nail thing). Sunday I’m heading back to Ohio.
Binging: YES. Way too much so. I can get sucked in and spend all day or even a few days binging a show if I get into it. On the flipside though, I can go a few weeks without watching much of anything except the occasional YouTube video. But boy oh boy, when I binge, I binge HARD.
Haul: Guerlain Rouge G No 777 (a gold transformer shade) and Preppy Chic case; (20% off at SDM) Soleil Tan De Chanel, Palette Essentielle Ete 190 Eclat Solaire, Quadra Eyeshadow Eclat Enigmatique, Stylo Yeux in Espresso, Le Rouge Longwear Lip Crayon in Au Naturel, and Le Crayon Levres in Natural. I’m ready for summer, thanks to Chanel Cruise Collection 2018!
Weekend Plans: Heading back to the midwest after spending time with family.
Binge watching tv shows: If the program is something I/we are highly interested in, we’ll watch 2-3 shows at once and prioritize it over other shows. We don’t feel the need to race just to finish a show quickly, so let our enthusiasm for the storyline drive our consumption.
Haul:
My one item haul this week actually has me laughing a myself. Much to my surprise, I got swept up into the royal wedding hoopla and one thing led to another down a YouTube rabbit hole. I watched a tutorial by Mary Greenwell where she recreated a Princess Di eye look using a small palette by Bourjois in Over Rose. I fell for it. It arrived yesterday, and I’ll try it today. Could I recreate with what I have? Absolutely. Do I need this? No! lol I haven’t done something like that for a long time, and I’m not sure what came over me, lol. I’ve never even heard of Bourjois, but it looks very nice. 🙂 Here’s the Mary Greenwell link — https://youtu.be/N-QAxZizSic
Not a haul, but did want to report the following. Between Thursday and Friday, four — count ’em, four — different women commented on how much they loved my eye look and how enhancing it looked. Two different nurses in my doc’s office, my company’s corporate attorney, and a woman helping at the the turnstile on the Boston MBTA! I was wearing Pat McGrath’s Bronze Ambition. I have to say, I was on the fence about the hype of these palettes, but no. All true, so beautiful and their application is fool proof. If you’re on the fence, you won’t be disappointed. (Also, since I have this why did I think I needed the Bourjois above? lol)
Weekend
Bailed on a party on Cape Cod because we’re both so burned out. Hope some of my kids come over and we can hang at our pool club. I have sort my work wardrobe to wash and dry clean strategically since I have to get ready for some major travel for work in June and July. I leave next Monday for a week in LA. Then it’s a week in Indy; a week in Milwaukee; and 12 days in Paris (that’s our vacation). It’s a lot.
I’m thinking of trying a service like Rent the Runway for work clothes. In the end, it may end up being more cost effective and save me time. For work, I need a wide range of things to wear from semi-formal to high-end business. It’s exhausting to shop, sort, and pack.
Binge:
I don’t have the patience to binge, but I will pick through a series night after night until done. We just finished McMafia, which was quite good. Our favorite of late was BBC’s outstanding Broadchurch.
Update:
The little Bourjois Over Rose palette is GREAT! I followed Mary Greenwell’s process and it looked really nice (using the dark shade in Over Rose rather than reaching for whatever she used in UD). As long as I stay away from the pink glitter in the middle (just no with me and glitter of any stripe), I can see myself reaching for this for sure. It is likely going with me to LA! Nice and small.
Correction:
The Pat McGrath palette I was wearing that got all the comments above was Platinum Bronze, not Bronze Ambition (which I don’t even own lol).
Haul: No new buy yet, but my last Sephora order came yesterday-Sephora Lipstories lipsticks in Labyrinth City and Hong Kong by Night, Sephora eyeshadow single in Vampire Lovers (a really pretty metallic garnet/burgundy), Huda Beauty Gemstone Obsessions palette, and (because I ordered before the 27th) a trial-size Make Up For Ever Artist Color pencil in Full Red.
Weekend plans: Friday I worked all day. This evening I attended a high school graduation party for my 1st cousin once removed (his mom’s my first cousin). Nothing planned for tomorrow.
Do you like to binge-watch a TV show?: ION runs Law & Order all day Wednesdays and SVU all day Saturdays. As long as I don’t have to go to work and unless I decide to go out to eat, I can literally watch them all day. I’ve probably seen them several times before, but they’re still fascinating and I find nuances I might not have noticed before.
