Aw…poor Mellan has to throw the ball to himself! ๐
Haul: Darphin ($40 off): CC Cream, Ideal Resource Smoothing Retexturizing Radiance Cream, Youthful Radiance Camelia Mask. Their CC cream is hands down the best CC I have ever purchased!
Ebay: Ecodenta (2). Many of my beauty group friends in the UK and EU have been raving about this whitening toothpaste. Sadly, as itโs made in Lithuania, it is ridiculously hard to get in the US without paying import fees. It was also available on Amazon but with no promised delivery date (and having ordered from the EU before and it taking 3 months, I wasnโt willing to risk it! Since itโs also not readily available, it costs roughly 5 times more her in the US; still, it was about what youโd pay for the Crest duos so I am willing to try it. Not shipped yet.
Gerard Cosmetics (10% off): Lip Pencil (Ecstasy, Bel Air). Just picking up the liners to go with the lippies I bought. Not shipped yet.
MAC: Eye Shadow x 9 (Red Hot Times Nine), In Extreme Dimension Mascara/Work It Out (Spin & Twist), MAC Studio Quiktrik Stick/ Work It Out (Whiff of Pink/Softly Does It). I should have order this Monday.
Macys: Estee Lauder The Illuminator Radiant Perfecting Primer +Finisher, 7 piece GWP (Smoky Eyes & Defined Brows)

Other than the back order, I should have this Monday or Tuesday.
Osswald: MDCI Les Indes Galantes

Weekend plans: Meeting my Mother for lunch on Saturday to celebrate her birthday then going clothes shopping with my daughter.
Whatโs a staple in your wardrobe?: Jackets (blazer). I love wearing a jacket with jeans.
He has no brakes, as we say, so tossing is something we do pretty infrequently (he would somersault!). As is, I usually toss it to him about two feet in front of his face so he can’t really run. Though I’m pretty sure he enjoys the game of keep away almost as much as fetching!
What makes the Darphin CC Cream so great, Michele?
I want to pick up shades of the limited edition MAC mascaras, because they seem so cool, but I cannot imagine finishing any of these, lol!
Oh no! I just got a cartoon in my head with mellan trying to screech to a stop! ๐
Unlike a lot of CC creams that either pull warm or cool, the Darphin one is neutral toned and would work on cools as well as warms. It’s light as a feather on the skin but also buildable. so while you won’t get anything like full coverage, you can build it up to cover imperfections (which many CCs don’t). It doesn’t make my skin, esp. t zone, oily like most CC creams do. And because it has all that great Darphin skincare tech in it, your skin actually looks and feels great after wearing it. The only negative to the cream is that there are no dark shades for folks with darker skintones.
I’m a colored mascara fiend! Love it. I actually have almost all of the MJ ones, which are superb, and a Paul & Joe one in a pinkish-burgundy red, plus 4 MAC minis (all brights except the grey). Since I have smaller eyes, using a colored mascara on the bottom lashes doesn’t minimize my eye look like black can do. It also helps accentuate whatever shade I’m trying to bring out in the eye look. And no, I never finish them either but then again technically you’re SUPPOSED to (I don’t always as I clean the wands after use) pitch mascaras after 3 months anyway so really, who can finish any mascara if you do that? If the forest green is good, I may pick up another 2 shades I don’t have.
Thanks for sharing about the CC Cream! Is it scented at all?
In theory, all of Darphin products have scent because of the natural ingredients in them – I believe the CC has some fruit extracts. I don’t notice the scent at all and dislike strong scents (i.e. the citrus in the Becca primer). It also has SPF 35 but unlike many products with SPF, that “SPF scnt” is not detectable and doesn’t bother my skin.
That’s perfect – don’t mind some scents but probably would hesitate if it was strongly floral/perfume-y!
I’ll have to try colored mascara on the bottom!
I also love coloured Mascara.
Will have the same problem with finishing now with the new mac mascaras from the work it out le. I will have to try all colours I have bought in order to know if I have to buy backups of any colour. Who can use up 6 mascaras in 3 months ?
I actually bought a pack of disposable wands, they were super cheap at TJMaxx $3, to use. I keep forgetting to try them though.
Can’t wait to hear what you think of those new Theory palettes!
The worst part will be waiting until 3/27 when they actually release/get shipped!
Now that’s a haul!
Haul: This was a bit of a spendy week, so I’m going on a no-buy after this for a while. I Just rec’d the Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit a few days ago and I really like it. The colors are great and I find the formula to match the original releases (not Ultimate). I also caved for a good cash-back promo and bought a few Tom Ford items from Nieman Marcus – the Nude Dip quad, which I love as much as I always thought I would, and the Moodlight Illuminating Duo. I like that one too, especially the rose gold shade. I wish the ivory shade was the same soft texture, but it reminds me of Nars Dual Intensity blushes. I do appreciate the generous quantity of product in that palette, and it makes me think they are being very stingy with the new Sheer Highlighting Duo which is the same price but much smaller!
Weekend plans: Meeting with a landscaper on Saturday, haircut on Sunday
Whatโs a staple in your wardrobe?: I just bought my yearly replenishment of cotton tees from Target since they were on sale- my “uniform” in the summer is their Mossimo crew-neck tees, J Crew chino shorts, and sandals or boat shoes – I can’t wait for warm weather!!!
So glad that Nude Dip ended up being as good as you had hoped – with a pricey purchase like that, it can be nerve-wracking!
Glad you got the good NM cash back. I haven’t tried a TF quad yet and now I’m curious.
Hmmm wonder if the tees are still on sale? I love them too. (Thanks for the heads-up).
when I bought them last weekend, they were 3/ $24 plus 20% off via Cartwheel app – not too shabby! Although even full price they are only $9, so you really can’t go wrong ๐ I was glad to get them early so they still had all of the colors in my size!
Mossimo tank tops are my favorites. I have black, gray, purple, pink, mossy green, and tan. Also, I want more. Also, I’m wearing the gray one right now lol
Me, too, Joyce! Especially living in such a hot climate as I do in AZ, a good well made tank that has various textures and many colors like these do makes them a must-have for me.
Haul: Birchbox UK: Smith & Cult lip lacquer in Now Kith, Spectrum Marbleous Tulip eye contour brush, Pop Beauty Eyeshadow Trio in Champagne Mocha, Show Beauty Premiere Finishing Spray, Beaver Professional hair conditioning spray, Keeome hydration sheet face mask. Very happy with my box, just gorgeous!
Plans for weekend: Just celebrating our 5th anniversary of being together! Last weekend I was busy doing a sign language Glossary of biological terms for the local university, it was hard work but I really enjoyed it.
What’s a staple in my wardrobe? Jeans! They go with everything.
Congrats on your 5th anniversary, Claire! How will you celebrate?
Thank you! My fiancรฉ’s ordered some raw sushi grade salmon for tomorrow to make sashimi, he loves Japanese food. So it’ll be a romantic meal ร deux ?.
Happy anniversary!
Thank you, Michelle!
Now Kith is so pretty! Such a lovely formula for those glosses. I hope they keep adding colors.
It is a very pretty nude, unfortunately beige nudes don’t suit me! I’m hoping I can swap it for a pink or a red one on a Fb swap group! I didn’t have a choice over the colour but some people in the Fb group did get a cooler color so fingers crossed I can get one.
Haul: Seophora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip and Marc Jacob’s Le Marc Liquid Lip Cream in Fawn Over Me. I really like the Le Marc Lip Cream, I tried it in store and had to have it. My lips are pigmented and most light nude lipsticks and glosses don’t work for me because my natural color peaks through in a way that is NOT flattering. This one is very light in color, yet somehow this formula completely covers my natural lip color. I even tried it on top of a medium brown lipstick and it completely covered the darker color as if the darker color were never there in the first place. It looks really nice as an ombrรฉ Lip with the UD Vice lipstick in 1993 and a touch of Buxom White Russian lipgloss (both these items were in the Give Me Some Nude Lip set). Very happy with my purchases and can’t wait to buy another Le Marc Liquid Lip Cream!
Weekend: I had a surprise visit from my granddaughter last weekend and I got to do a makeover on her! So much fun. I’ve worked in cosmetics for 7 years but this was the first time I applied on my granddaughter. https://instagram.com/p/BRLlUMkBnTr/
Staple in wardrobe: I have a pair of ankle grey Lucky boots that I wear constantly. They go with everything!
Happy to hear that the Le Marc Liquids are working nicely over your lips, Tammy! I hope the brand expands that shade range!
Your granddaughter looked stunning!
Thank you! I think she’s beautiful but I’m biasedโค
How much fun to do the makeover! She’s so pretty!
Thank you, Michelle! I can’t wait for her to come over again for another make up session.
Your granddaughter is just adorable – I love her hair!
Yep, we all have curly hair except for my husband. He says he feels out of place sometimes with so many curly haired people around him, lol
I LOVE that pic of your granddaughter! So much love and fun comes right through!
Linda, the love is REAL! I had no idea when I got pregnant that the children I bore would be like a ripple in a pond, multiplying my life with people who have filled my life with so much love and fragility. I was thinking of having a baby back then, not the generations ahead. Now I see a hint of the future in the next generation coming and I have no words, other than I am grateful to know them and have a moment in their lives.
Wow, that was beautifully said. A lovely picture of your granddaughter. ๐
These are amazing, inspiring words! I am a mother of young children and it often gets very hard! I had to send these words to my friends because it is often difficult to imagine the payoff after all the hard work of raising kids!
Anna, I raised four children and I feel your pain! My daughter is 5 weeks away from delivering her third child and she told me she was crying so hard on Saturday that she scared her two daughters. She has had a horrible week of pregnancy insomnia, her fiancรฉ and both children have strep throat, the toddler was teething molars simultaneously while having strep throat, there were trips to the ER for out of control fevers and dehydration, and the final straw was the birthday cake my daughter was trying to make for her soon-to-be mother-in-law crumbling in her hands. This was the moment when my daughter threw the cake on the kitchen floor and commenced to hysterical sobbing! It’s not funny but it IS, because that’s exactly what raising children is like: utter chaos, and I simply don’t know how we survive it.
Your granddaughter looked beautiful! She’s positively beaming. ๐ Though you do NOT look old enough to have a granddaughter that age.
Thank you, Rachel ?
Haul: Estee Lauder Heat Wave Gelle Highlighter. MUFE Artist Shadows 3 on sale, 4 shades I didn’t own so getting on sale made sense. Annabelle Chrome Eyeshadows all 5 shades, which are the Stila and Colourpops love child in terms of cream eyeshadow formula. ๐
Weekend plans: Same as before work, resume and sculpting. ๐
Whatโs a staple in your wardrobe?: Denim and Twill pants… I’ve never felt comfortable in a dress outside of a special occasion.
Oooh, look who snagged Heat Wave!
Hahaha yeah I just wish the teal was on the lid as well, that would have been fun. But it’s an Old School highlighter I still like to use….. I could not pass up getting a new one and I haven bought from Estee in years. ๐ Not reviewing it though because it’s the same as the first one they launched. lol
Mellan is such a doll.
Awww, the sight of Mellan playing with a ball always cheers me up ๐
*Haul – WNW Megaglo Highlighting Powder in Lilac to Reality–woohooooo!!! Have been prowling my local Walgreens for days and days, finally found one left, and pounced on it! It’s not the same quality as the original Megaglos (Precious Petals and Crown of My Canopy)-those were ultra silky with refined shimmer, more like ME and HE highlighters. This one is drier, stiffer, and the glitter is chunkier, BUT it’s a true cool silvery lilac purple, so it’s not white or pink like so many other highlighters (like that Becca “Amethyst” one that’s pink). I’m NC 15-20, and you can really see the iridescent lilac purple shimmer on the cheeks, but it can be blended our for a more natural look. I’m super happy with the purchase as it’s such a unique color, and it went beautifully with an all- lilac makeup look that I did, made my brown eyes/dark hair pop.
*I also got a wonky batch of Butter London Clutch Blush in Violet at my local Ulta. They had 8 blushes in Violet, and it was so obvious there were 3 different batches – a warm pink purple, a cooler pink purple, and a cooler lilac purple. Of course, I pounced on that last one, it’s on the dry and stiff side, but since it’s a unique color, willing to work with it, and very happy with the find.
*Weekend -the company is sending me back East for training next week, so I need to wrap up my cray busy desk, cram the study materials into my overloaded brain, then pack for my trip. The place is out in the boonies, nothing to see or do for +50 miles. I will miss Hubby and the kid, but since I’m staying at a hotel and meals are provided for free or we’re eating out at restaurants, there’s no cooking/cleaning/lchildcare for 4 days. Wooohoo!!! It’s not exactly a vacation as the training’s pretty intense, but will be a nice change of pace/scenery
*Wardrobe staples–with a kid and commute train to catch, I don’t have much time in the mornings, so I usually default to mostly black clothes, so I can have time to do a full face of makeup
So glad you were able to find the new Wet ‘n’ Wild highlighter locally! I remember WNW was such a pain to find that I gave up ๐
So jealous you were able to get that highlighter! Christine, did you see where WNW was selling the highlighter as part of a package set only? I stalked the site like mad on launch date. Even now, it’s only available as part of a set; so instead of being able to buy it as a single for $5 or whatever, you have to pay $30 for an entire set (which I don’t want). I’m going to try to hit my local stores over the weekend to see if anyone has it.
I haven’t kept an eye out, as WNW sells out a little too quickly for me to make it a priority to review!
Haul: Not a thing. Very content with what I have currently.
Weekend: Another friend is have a “Taste of Summer” BBQ on Saturday. (Last week it was a lobster bake!) Yes, we are ready for the winter to end here. It’s going to be a cold weekend. Sunday, we have to repopulate my husband’s home office since he got a new desk, file cabinets, etc. The stuff is all over the house!
Wardrobe Staple: Black tights and scarves.
What have you been enjoying most from your stash this week, Linda?
Taste of summer BBQ sounds great!
Haul: my MUFE metal palette arrived to my dorm, but since I’m back home for spring break I can’t play with it until Monday. I also picked up the Pixi Glow Mist at Target the other day, as well as the UD Firebird lipstick, and Nyx HD blushes in Nude’Tude and Taupe. Nude’Tude is almost like a bronzer on me because I’m so fair, and Taupe is the perfect cool toned contour color I’ve been searching for!
Plans: my mom wants to go to Pittsburgh so that might happen tomorrow. I make the trip back to my dorm on Sunday.
Wardrobe staple: White t-shirt, hands down. Goes with everything!
Safe trip back to your dorm, MacKenzie! Hope your spring break was enjoyable.
Haul: Colourpop pressed shadows: Wait for It, Locked and Loaded, I Owe You, Running Late. Colors are as I’d hoped, and so far so good for usage. So I didn’t purchase much but I have made a wish/buy list for upcoming days/weeks.
Weekend: Mostly the usual — errands and tasks. Also: have decided to try out some new stir fry recipes (bought a stir fry pan a couple of weeks ago, now have to sort making good use of it).
Wardrobe staples: Definitely black flats for me too! Also, black boots, jeans, black sweaters of all cuts, fabrics and weights. Those are my basics.
Happy to hear that the ColourPop eyeshadows are working well so far ๐
I’m so glad to see Mellon playing ๐ A dog with his toys never ceases to make me smile.
This week I picked up three of the new Chanel Coco glosses and quite like them. I bought Tendresse, Rose Pulpe, and Confusion. The gel texture is comfortable to wear and isn’t tacky or sticky when I press my lips together (which I do out of habit), the larger applicator provides a smooth and even coat of color, and my lips look fuller thanks to all the hydration. Right now the color selection is not nearly as vast as it was with the Glossimers, but then this is a new launch and so it will take time to expand the color range. Once people get over their unhappiness about Glossimers being discontinued, I think they’ll find much to love with its new replacement.
My only gripe is that the promo picture of Lily Rose Depp is terribly misleading. These glosses, used by themselves, aren’t going to give you that perfectly opaque lip she is sporting. You’ll only get a look like that if you’re using the gloss over a pencil or lipstick. But, so long as we remember these are categorized as lip glosses, with some being more opaque than others, no one should be disappointed.
Do you find the new Rouge Coco gloss to be better than the Glossimers? I was surprised that Chanel discontinued the Glossimers (they’ve been around for SO long!)!
Yes, I prefer the new formula. Not that there was anything wrong with the Glossimers, it’s just that advancements (more hydration, more skin care ingredients, etc.) have been made and it was time for an update. Glossimers always look beautiful, but they didn’t really improve the condition of my lips. Rouge Coco Gloss does. After a day of wearing RC Gloss, my lips feel smoother and more hydrated. The new formula does feel a bit heavier when first being applied but then it quickly becomes weightless. I also love the beautiful glow that the colors I selected have–and all without Glossimers ubiquitous glitter bits.
That’s great to hear, Eileen! ๐
That’s actually how I feel about a lot of MAC’s core products – they could use a general update!
Haul: Creed Fleurissimo perfume (thanks Neiman’s coupon code!)
Weekend: having friends over for brunch for the last hurrah before baby is due; starting my maternity leave and have a couple weeks until my due date. I’m looking forward to some down time/nesting before the chaos!
Wardrobe staple: pre pregnancy- black flats, white button down shirt; during pregnancy- Toms and black leggings.
Enjoy the last few weeks before baby!!
You will be surprised at how tired you will feel when you stop work. Enjoy some sleep ins and afternoon feet up time.
Congrats on an almost due baby. I have serious baby fever lol
Haul: Nothing really. I’ve been on a makeup buying ban so I’ve only been getting what I really need. I need more Josie Maran Argan Oil so I’ll go pick that up. One tube lasts me a yr because I only use it on my face.
โขWeekend plans: UMMM the CEO of the org I work for asked me if I wanted to go see the King and I (she knows I like theatre) tonight with her so we are going to an early dinner at 6 then to the show. I assist one of her VPs – I doubt she would have asked her own assistant. It’s BIG because she is Queen B***h but she has been trying to open up more so I said yes because I actually like the King and I and because she stepped outside of her comfort zone to ask me and free food and booze on her. SO that will be interesting….nothing else planned but to clean. My niece and nephew are coming over so I’ll be busy and maybe go see a movie.
โขWhatโs a staple in your wardrobe?: Black jeggings. I own SOOOOOO many – the good work kind not the teeny bopper kind lol. When all else fails, put on black jeggings with a top and blazer and off we goo.
How long is your no-buy for, Mo?
Hope your outing with the CEO goes well and you enjoy the show! ๐
Thanks Christine…tonight should be interesting.
My no buy is for as long as I can. I’ve compared my budgets from 2015 & 2016 and I’ve spent soooo much on cosmetics and I need to not spend so much so I’m only buying what I need and a few wants. So far so good. This time last yr I had already spent $270 on makeup, now…. $36. Major improvement
That is a HUGE improvement, Mo! Congrats and keep up the good work ๐
Oooh enjoy the show!
What’s your fave brand of black jeggings? I always get mine from Express and I like them well enough, but they tend to fade quickly.
I don’t have a favorite brand because I get them from everywhere because it’s so hard to find a good pair HOWEVER the best brands have been NY&C (their clothes have withstood the time with me for years!) I have found good off brands at TJMAX and Marshalls too but more quality and variety at TJ MAXX. one of my BEST pair ever was from Armani Exchange. I find that ones without stitching straight down the middle of the legs last longer. I usually buy them when I see them and stock up on all that I can.
That either sounds like a wonderful opportunity or a trap!
LOL my coworkers have been laughing at me all day with some wishing me lots of liquor LOL and the others just giggling away. I am looking forward to getting it over with.
I hope your dinner goes well and enjoy the show.
I always find that shopping my own stash helps to minimise the urge to spend… well done with your no buy.
Haul: Becca Ever-Matte Priming Perfector, Morphe brushes E19, E38 and M421.
Weekend plans: Working and we’re moving out of state in 2 weeks so completing my packing list for the truck and getting some more boxes.
Whatโs a staple in your wardrobe?: Black skinny pants. Can’t resist a good pair.
Good luck on your upcoming move, Chelsea! Moving out of state is brutal!
Thanks!
What do you think of the Morphe brushes? I am going to buy a few from the Elite series in the coming months (hoping they’ll have an Easter sale?)
I like them a lot! Mainly because they have so many options so when I need something specific I know I’ll find it. Never had one let me down.
Awesome. Moving out of state sounds scary but exciting to start a new adventure in a new place.
Good luck with the move Chelsea, packing up is really hard work.
Good luck on our move! You are getting down to what I call “the ugly bits”, those last tasks take time to sift and sort and you almost want to throw them in a box and deal with them later, and then there’s still more. Hope all goes smoothly over the next few weeks.
Exactly! I’ve been purging our house for about a week now (most of it forcing myself to say “I do not wear this I do not need it) so I’ll be happy when its over!
Haul: A Vichy hydrating (so called) mask, some Vichy hand-creams (a 2-for-1 offer and I always need smaller sized tubes for my school bag), another Hourglass Girl Stylo pencil (another one in Visionary – I love that shade and want one for purse and one for makeup area at home).
Weekend plans: off to the gym just now, hair cut and colour this afternoon and then dinner out with hubby; other than that, I think we’ve nothing planned which is bliss
Wardrobe staple: a mid calf black skirt (I’ve made several of them from a wonderful Christine Jonson pattern) and simple black pants – I rely on those for every single day, just about (I do have the skirt in plum and in grey as well) as well as my diamond ear studs – I rarely take them out and I’ve worn them almost every day for over 10 years (they belonged to my late mother and it’s a nice way to have her with me all the time).
You know you REALLY love a shade when you have one on you and one at home!
I hate having to run upstairs because I’ve just had breakfast and either didn’t apply or need to reapply before leaving for work which sort of explains why I’ve got 3 or 4 Cravings and Plumfuls and a few other shades here, there and everywhere. Visionary (and Smashbox Legendary) are quickly entering that realm and I’m almost afraid to try more of the Lip Stylos for that reason….they’re 40 bucks a pop here, so it can be a bit steep having 3 of a shade on the go at any one time. I’m trying to limit myself to 2 and in just this one shade (at least for now).
Hopefully, you can keep yourself to the two you have now – maybe finish Visionary and then try something new after that ๐
I’m touched by your holding your mother close by wearing her earrings. I recently inherited several items of my mother’s jewelry, including her watch and I too feel that by wearing it every day it’s a way to have her with me all the time.
Patiently waiting for UPS to bring my haul this week, it’s due to be delivered today. lol.

Wardrobe Staple, always have to have a good zip up hoodie.
Wow! It sounds like you got a lot done yesterday, Lacey! Congrats — may you enjoy your weekend in peace! ๐
Haul: By Terry Colour design palette and Armani Lip Magnet in 601.
Weekend Plans: Most probably go to have Sushi Lunch.
What’s a Staple in your house: A blue tooth, I can’t make phone calls without it anymore.
Have a great lunch, Amirah!

Low carb is tough, especially when it’s really, really low carb! Good luck ๐
Haul: Revlon ColorStay Brow pencil in Dark Brown, Revlon Ultra HD lipstick in Desert, CoverGirl CleanMatte BB Cream in 530, KL Polish in Das Esspensive
Weekend plans: driving up to DE again!

Fun haul, Joyce! Have you had a chance to wear Das Esspensive yet?
Heading to Germany?
Hi Erin,
Thank you for your interest! Sadly I am not heading to Deutschland–just little old Delaware, USA lol! ?
Haul : BH foil 2, Modern Mattes, neutral Mattes and some eye brushes with their 20% off promo all that cost $34 and I got three free things-a trio brush set, more matte shadows and a felt eyeliner.
I only have a couple of matte shadows from Colourpop so should be interesting.
I’m thinking of getting the abh/Nicole G highlighters the colors look so pretty. Highlighters are addictive!!
Julia I like jcrew shorts too!!
Glad to see Mellan acting like a puppy.
How do you like BH’s matte formula?
I’ll let you know ordered them thurs so should be getting them soon hope I like them as I’ll have a bunch.
I love shimmery but with the foil shadows,and/Nicole g highlights and bite beauty prismatic lip gloss I feel like a glitter bomb! All good tho.
(Sephora had the abh/Nicole g palette in the back but let me have it fri).
Sorry I forgot the rest!!
This weekend I have to work 7 hrs or so sat. Ride my bike on sun (suppose to be in the 60’s here). Maybe check out a new gym and cook some food with chicken breast for the week.
I like midcalf or ankle boots to wear fall/winter they are my uniform!
Mellan!!! ??? He really seems SO much better now!
Haul: 8 pressed Colourpop eyeshadow singles in Stay Golden, 143, Paper Tiger, Come And Get It, Play By Play, Gamechanger, Up And Up, and finally Team Captain for a good matte olive for the crease with the shimmery greens. Went to Ulta a few days ago for the Nyx BOGO, and bought their Glitter Primer, a Lip Lingerie in Bustier which looked great n the hand swatch and thoroughly ugly and grayish on my lips, another Faux Black Eye Pencil in Burnt Sienna, and Synthetica Duochromatic Highlighter.
Weekend plans: I need to get up to the store and do my major food shopping for the month, go to Sephora for a couple of things, and my usual hair, nails, and meeting on Sunday.
What is a staple in your wardrobe: Always, a black leather jacket! And like you, Christine, black flats. Whether they’re a pair of black booties, black Airwalks, or slip-ons. Actually black anything! (6 pairs of black jeans and jeggings!)
He has seemed slightly peppier these days!
Nice ColourPop picks, Nancy! Glad you were able to snag some of the new shades ๐
Haul: I AM SO EXCITED, I AM HAULING (literally, she is from Missouri) A RED PIEBALD DACHSHUND SISTER FOR MY JUSSI. Her name is Patticake, and i don’t plan on changing it to something more German. She was bought into rescue for adoption, having spent seven years, yes, as a sex slave, producing litter upon litter, and having no life experience. Now, she is going to learn all the things she has missed, and be treated like the queen she was meant to be. She is 7, same age as Jussi. We elder folk get canned on young dog adoptions, just as we do for jobs. Gotta go, got another email from Missouri. No make up news, it’s all canine 24/7 now. Yay.
Congratulations on your newest family member, KJH! Patticake (ADORABLE name) has found a great home!
Congratulations on your sweet new furbaby! I am very passionate about rescue and I am so happy to hear that you are giving that little darling a happy and loving home after a rough 7 years. You’ll have to update us when Patticake arrives. Yay! ๐
Best haul of the weekโคโคโคโค!
That poor little doggie – what an awful life she has had and now she is lucky to be rescued by someone like you who will take care of her. Congratulations and I hope the two doggies will be best friends.
Dachsunds are so cute!!!!!!!
Congrats kjh!!! Patticake will be one lucky dog!
Bless you for giving Patticake (cutest name ever!) a better life.
Haul: Nada! Though I’ve been thinking about a few things.
Weekend Plans: having last weekends plans! Eating out and getting a massage as well as grocery shopping. The hubby is finally home and Elroy is probably well enough to be left alone for a few hours.
Wardrobe staple: Black EVERYTHING… some goth apples stay on the tree till you die.
Enjoy your massage, Erin! ๐
Nothing better than a dog that can amuse himself, really. It shows both creativity and self-reliance. Petrushka (malamute) used to hold a bone in her mouth and press it on the floor with a paw, then do some real NHL moves. She also hid bones, treats and did ‘warmer’ and ‘cooler’ as she made me find them…pretending she didn’t know, but giving clues all the time. Course ball toss virtually always is an entreaty to play, like the play bow. Glad your guy is feeling better. W.e. Ssdw, but will have to get ready for impending road trip. Wardrobe staple? I have a s’load of clothes I never wear, due to the nature of my jobs. Virtually every day, at least some of it, American Giant sweatpants. All cotton, made in USA, well tailored, classics. What’s not to love and live in, now that dressing is not required?
His favorite game is tugging rope, but I think his second favorite is running around with a toy in his mouth!
Haul: Nothing this week
Weekend plans: Pick up my son from Eugene. Paperwork.
Whatโs a staple in your wardrobe?: Clothing — black and gray anything, but especially bottoms. Shoes — Flats.
Have fun picking up your son, Rachel!
My son is home safe and sound with new computer stuff and some birthday loot.
As for the rest of the weekend, I spoke too soon. My clothes washer died Sat. morning, but to be fair it was at least 15 years old. So I ended up buying a new washer and gas dryer today. (We expanded our gas plumbing with some of my car accident settlement a few years back, planning on an eventual gas dryer and water heater, among other things.) They’ll arrive Wednesday.
Haul: Urban Decay concealer in Fair Neutral and eyeshadow in Kush (free because it was my birthday!) and Peter Thomas Roth Irish Moor Mud mask from Amazon (I’ve used deluxe samples before and loved it but never wanted to shell out the cash, but I got a gift card so I figured why not!)
Weekend Plans: Make plans for our trip to DC! My roommate and I are going to DC for spring break the week after next and staying with my aunt and uncle. We have to get our train tickets and a few museum tickets.
What’s a staple in your wardrobe? My clogs! I have these high-heeled, Mary Jane style clogs I got to replace my worn out old classic style ones. I wear them 9 times out of 10, probably.
Kush is such a pretty green, Kat!
Hope you have a blast in DC!
Kat, I’m curious what brand Mary Jane clogs and where you buy them? Thanks!
They’re from Dansko, the Darlene style, and I got them on Amazon! I’m not sure if they’re still available, but I adore them! Super duper comfy and cute.
Mellan! <3 He sure is looking a lot more chipper!

Haul:
Ole Henriksen trio of samples from Sephora that included Truth Serum, Sheer Transformation moisturizer, and a night treatment. So far I’m liking all of them and considering getting full sizes in April.
Paco Rabanne Lady Million sample — sweet raspberry fruity floral with ambroxan, somewhat candy-like, much like Versace Eros pour Femme, but I think it’s a bit more wearable than the Versace. I avoided this scent for so long, thinking it was just cheap and loud, a clubbing scent, but it’s actually very pretty and wearable after a brief initial drydown.
Weekend plans: garden cleanup, getting ready for spring.
Wardrobe staple: Havaianas in summer, tote handbags all year around, bangle bracelets.
I’m a fan of Ole Henriksen’s skincare range in general – the Truth Serum is very nice!
Haul: Lots of blush – got the NARS Unfiltered I palettte and then went out the next day and found these department store brand blush trios in abut 12 different colourways – big pans, great texture and pigmentation and they had 25% off, so I bought 3 of them in Corals, Mauve Pinks and Natural Rose. I also picked up several of the Quick Fix Facials range and I have been hugely impressed at how effective they are – even better than my Mario Badescu! The passionflower charcoal mask in the yellow tube is AMAZING.
Weekend plans: Making crystal jewelry and then lunch with my brother in law and his boyfriend on Sunday, yay!
Wardrobe staple: Black V neck short sleeved T-shirts! And my collection of patterned Converse sneakers ๐
It sounds like you might be covered for new cheek colors for awhile ๐
I have not heard of Quick Fix Facials range but am off to google!
Hello lovely Mellan!!
Haul: CCO (extra 20% off, random coupon ended 2/28): Bobbi Brown – Luxe Lipsticks in Parisian Red, Imperial Red and Bright Peony; Long-wear cream shadow stick in Malted Pink; skin care set w/ Intensive Skin Supplement, Extra Face Oil and Vitamin-Enriched Face Base; and Intensive Skin Serum corrector and concealer; Neiman Marcus ($25 off $50): Tom Ford Flush (original formula) – I LOVE IT! Still can’t get over that TF changed this formula.
Weekend plans: Enjoy unusually warm weather, catch up on paperwork, and generally clean up.
Wardrobe staples: Jeans and lipstick and I’m good to go!!
Fabulous CCO haul, Tracey! You found some really good things on your trip there!
Haul: Nothing really, I have been pretty good lately
Weekend Plans: On Saturday, it’s my grand daughter Olivia’s 3rd birthday, so as it is still pretty warm here her parents are taking her to the beach, which she loves. Then they are coming back to our place for an early evening BBQ with her grand parents from her mum’s side and a few other relatives.
On Sunday, it is my husband’s birthday – so we are going out for lunch to celebrate that. Initially he wanted to have a big birthday lunch – but no – having two celebrations in less than 24 hours is not my idea of fun. So we are going to a lovely hotel, that has a playroom for the children….
Wardrobe Staples: black ponte pants in winter and black 7/8 silky leggings for summer. I also love my black ankle boots and my black flats as well. I am desperately trying to get some navy blue ponte pants – but they just don’t seem to make them here in Aus.
Happy birthday to Olivia and your husband, Genevieve!
Thank you Christine – both have had a great day, the weather was fine and it all went well.
A double birthday weekend! Happy birthday to Olivia and your husband.
Thank you Tammy – both have had lovely birthday celebrations – Olivia loved the homemade Elsa cake that her mother made and all of her presents. Lachlan just loved the wrapping paper….
I hope your granddaughter and husband had wonderful birthdays.
Thank you so much for your kind wishes. Olivia and my husband both have had lovely birthday celebrations.
I love this video! My pup will also throw his own balls to himself sometimes. ๐
Haul: Made an Ulta order for some new new travel makeup storage– they had some cute leopard print pieces on clearance– as well as a new Anastasia #12 duo brush because the spoolie on my last one popped off and went missing after about three years of use. I also got a small Z Palette. I’m hoping to make a perfect small eye palette for traveling.
Weekend plans: Just saw Logan with my boyfriend, going to the casino tomorrow (I have a problem), cleaning out my closet to take stock of my current shoes, and hopefully shopping to replace some!
Staple in my wardrobe: Black boots, black cardigans and sweaters, black flip flops– I love wearing black!
There are always cute makeup bags/organizers on Ulta!
Wishing you luck at the casino!
Haul:
Tom Ford:
Young Adonis
Sun Worship
The rest of my blushes came in (except for Disclosure – that’ll be here on the 10th)!. I am so, so pleased with these. The pigmentation is incredible.
Paradise Lust
Soleil Afterglow – still waiting for this one; it was supposed to come today. When I called and they looked into it, it shows I wasn’t charged after all but on my end and in my confirmation email, it shows both included in the same order and charged for both. Odd. I ordered another one, it should be here next week.
MAC:
Viva Glam Taraji Lipstick (so beautiful, I love the subtle shimmer)
In the Flesh x 15 palette
Semi Sweet x 9 palette
Fix + minis in Coconut, Rose, Lavender
Weekend plans: The usual – cooking for the week, laundry. Maybe Sunday brunch and a movie.
What’s a staple in your wardrobe?: Jeans!
More MAC ordered as of late last night ?:
Lustre drops Pink Rebel, Barbados Girl – these were listed in their Goodbyes. I’ve never tried these and am thinking of using these as a layering base for my highlighters; the cream colour bases Hush and Pearl don’t really do anything for me. I figure if the Lustre Drops are too strong or too something or other, I can always mix in with a lotion for a nice body glow.
Solar Flare – I wasn’t going to get this but caved. I don’t mind putting the extra work in to make sure some of these colors adhere so I am going to make it work! I like the Lustre formula, even if it is sheer and chunky, because I get to layer it over a cream eyeshadow or use some setting spray to make it adhere – point being, I get to use more stuff and layer. I love putting ‘stuff’ on and layering. I think that’s my favorite part, using a lot of stuff, even if it is very minimal and subtle.
Shade Pro Longwear Fluidline – a MAC MUA suggested this instead of my typical brown or black and figured I’d try this. I’ve recently been wearing liners other than black or dark brown and actually really like it. I don’t do a graduated wedge anymore, I just line closely to the lashline to add boldness to the lashes, then curl my lashes and set the curl with waterproof mascara. I’ve been playing around with maroons, taupes, medium browns and dark coppers to keep things looking not as heavy and done, and am thinking this dark green may be another color I can use. I’m not one for colored eyeliner or mascara and like to keep things boring and neutral, but I think this is dark enough to add a little extra something without making it look like “oh, she’s wearing green eyeliner”. I don’t want my makeup noticed, I want my features accentuated so hopefully I can fold this into my routine.
I must say I really like the type of Lab Mellan is. Here the most common one generally are overweight, cute, but not as gorgeous as the Mellan-type.
My dogs are doing fine now, the Schnauzer has a chronic stomach problem, IBD. He seems to do really good with the hypo allergenic food he’s eating. Now I know what it is, and I know that he can get ill without me having to worry to much up to every three months, I feel a lot calmer.
Sorry for putting this here, but some of you asked how they were doing.
Haul, nothing, but I do have some cheaper stuff coming soon.
Plans for the weekend, I must say I feel boring, but nothing really.
Wardrobe staple, Black skirts and mostly black tops. and hats in the sunnier months.
Haul: nothing this week!
Weekend plans: a run, a hike, a trip to the mall.
Wardrobe staple: jeans. I don’t know how I could live without jeans.
JEANS! So true.
Haul: from HSN I got the Lorac Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette, which I haven’t tried get, and the California Dreaming Eyeshadow palette. They came with tbe Lorac Pro Lash Pomade Mascara, Lorac Pro Mascara, and Alter Ego Lipsticks in Cat Lady and Beach Babe. I don’t usually wear nude or pame colored lipsticks, but I do like both of these. The mascaras seem to be ok. The California Dreaming Palette is the dustiest eyeshadow palette I have ever owned; I’ve never seen so much fallout! This is the first Lorac palette I’ve ever tried and I do like the colors, so I want to make it work. Hoepfully the Unzipped will be different. I also got the California Dreaming Cheek Palette. I really like it but it’s just as dusty! Also got Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lovecraft. It’s really pretty!! Last weeks’s haul: Chanel Eau Tendre, which I absolutely LOVE. Some things I ordered but don’t love: from Sephora- Aerin Mediterranean Honeysuckle Rollerball, and from Amazon- Kate Spade Walk On Air Sunshine Rollerball. I also got the Viseart Petit Pro eyeshadow Palette and although it’s pretty I was surprised by the lack of pigmentation; it doesn’t matter if I try to use it wet or dry, it’s just not there. This one needs to be returned. Weekend Plans: I’m off for four days, and I need to start by dragging myself out of bed now! Slept all day and now I need to figure out some plans! Probably just going to somewhere to find a new ceiling light tonight, going to see my son tomorrow. What’s a staple in your wardrobe? Black skinny jeans.
I love the Unzipped palette! One of LORAC’s bests, IMO! ๐
California Dreaming is dustier than the average LORAC palette, IMO.
Yay! It’s nice to know I’ve got a good one to look forward to; I love those colors!! I think I’ll wear it tomorrow. Also, as I’m typing this my letters are being underlined and I don’t know if I hit a wrong key or something. If this post comes out that way you’ll know why! Trying to fix it!
LOVE Chanel Eau Tendre!
Haul: Some Aromaleigh products, which I haven’t actually received yet (just ordered them in the beginning of the week). By the end of today, I will have online-purchased some decent lounge-around clothes that will allow me to get rid of (or turn into rags) the ratty old sweatshirts I inevitably throw on every time I walk through the door.
Weekend plans: Well, I’m halfway through the weekend at this point, but my main plan for the weekend was to work from home, though I got lazy yesterday and didn’t do that *at all*. :-/
Whatโs a staple in your wardrobe?: A grey hooded jacket that I wear over everything, every day that I leave the house.
