- Haul: Burberry Liquid Lip Velvets, Burberry Lip Velvets, Givenchy Interdit Satin Lipsticks, Sephora Cream Cleansers (Coconut, Yuzu, Rose)
- Weekend plans: Mellan had his biopsy on Monday, so just taking it easy and enjoying his company.
- What was your last DIY project?: I made my own Christmas swag (a thick garland with ornaments and flowers).
This week's doggo photo/video...

Haul: This is my first week in a loonnng time with no beauty related purchases. So proud of myself ?
Weekend plans: Heading down to Cincinnati in the morning for a memorial service and spending the weekend with my in-laws.
What was your last DIY project?: when we remodeled our bathroom (not diy!) we got a beautiful new Victorian style cast iron tub, and I’ve been taking a lot of baths lately- so I started making my own bath bombs! I love the ones from Lush but they are crazy expensive considering they are single-use. I even found a place online that sells fragrance oils that are dupes of the Lush scents! They are actually really easy and fun to make.
Good job on no purchases this week, Julia! 🙂
I am so sorry that Mellan is feeling sick, and sending my best wishes for a safe and comfortable procedure on Monday and for hopeful biopsy results. It is so, so hard when the furbabies are hurting.
Haul: I ordered some more eyeshadows from Coloured Raine, expect them next week 🙂
Weekend: Trying to keep up my walking for exercise while dealing with crazy weather here — 63 degrees yesterday, snow tomorrow!
DIY: Besides playing with new makeup looks? (LOL) I’ve started knitting again, so I’m working on a new hat pattern and a new sweater pattern.
Really thinking about Mellan. My heart goes out to all of you. It’s so hard to have to wait for medical procedures!
He had it on Monday, so he is back home and doing well. He seems pretty normal, but the waiting is the tough part!
Can’t wait for you to get your next batch of Coloured Raine eyeshadows — guess you like ’em 😉
I’m glad Mellan’s doing well, and hope you get good news.
I love the Coloured Raine eyeshadows. I did a look with Blue Magic yesterday, and with Flashing Lights today, and both came out beautifully 🙂
I hope the results will be good. He is such a sweetheart!
Haul: Serge Lutens parfum “Sa majesté la rose”, smells like the actual flower… A dream if you are a fan of it.
Viseart Paris Nude palette. I decided to cave and end the obsession I had for this palette since I read your review (that and the 30%off ?)
Clinique silk foundation. I couldn’t have chosen a shade without your database. Huge thanks!
Weekend plans: pick up some orders (a lot of loved ones celebrate their birthday in the first two months of the year), make a “galette des rois” a sort of pie we make in France for the epiphany (I am a bit late ?) and watch a movie from my partner’s “must see” list (he is trying to educate me on this subject lol)
What was your last DIY project?: hmmm… Does a virtual one counts? I did design a phone case for my niece for Christmas ?
Would you say the Serge Lutens perfume is just a single note or is it more complex?
So happy to hear the Matrix helped you pick your foundation shade 🙂
I would say it is balanced. Usually rose parfums are really sweet, this one is not. You have a hint of sweetness which develops slowly. What I mostly love is that it is a fresh sent, with a point of green (a bit like when you smell a bouquet and that you can also smell the roses ‘ leaves). I am no expert. I must miss some aspect of the parfum’s complexity!
Really few retailers sell the full range of shade for many brands… And if they do it is online only! I wish they would at least join a sample of the shade you buy to check first since it is not possible to return.
Thank you!!
Have you chosen the movie yet?
I have been dodging “The good, the bad and the ugly” since at least a year now. That’s the last one of his top 10…and I feel him closing on me with this one ?. (got traumatised by Westerns during my childhood).
I am so sorry Marie-Estelle. As a
person who almost cannot tolerate anything Western, I am feeling empathy for your situation. I have to sit through my son’s super heroe movies (he’s 19), and I really struggle to be enthusiastic.
Do you put charms in the galette des rois, as they do in New Orleans King Cake? Also really a pie, iirc. You’d have to put a dog charm in it for me to pull out!
I checked what it looks like and the New Orleans King Cake ressembles what they make in South of France for the epiphany! Nowadays we put small figurines in the galette. They can be really traditional or trendy! Originally it was a dry bean (“fève”).
I love most of Serge Lutens perfumes! I have a small amount left my of Sa Majestic la Rose perfume that I need to finish. It’s nice, my favorite rose perfume is the intense Frederic Malle Une Rose.
How does Une Rose compares to Sa majesté la rose ?
Mellan, feel better!! I’ve been thinking about you
OMG, so it’s been raining makeup this week! I haven’t had time to fully test everything, have only done arm swatches on some, but nothing on others, but here goes
*Chanel Code Elegantes Shadow Quad — very pretty if you like yellow golds, gold #1 is the star of the palette
*Gucci Iconic Gold shadow –OMG, it’s stunning!! Hope no fallout as it will make a great topper. Have been eyeing it for years, finally pulled the trigger with $25 gift Saks card, cash back, and free deluxe Gucci mascara
*Coloured Raine Queen of Hearts Palette–2 shadows look weak but fixable, rest are stunning!
*BH Cosmetics Modern Mattes palette–strangely, the neutral mattes swatch pretty weak, but overall, the colorful mattes swatch nicely (yay), so think there’s a QC batch issue. But I bought it for the colorful mattes anyway, palette was only $10 on sale, and it came with free Travel Palette of matte shadows, so excellent deal. BH mini Kabuki brush, and BH Waterproof Lip Liners in Fuschia, Spiced, and Peach
*Prestige Total Intensity Eyeliners in Strong Slate, Powerful Purple, Daring Green, and Bold Brown – these are re-purchases for me, very creamy, pigmented, cheap, and totally bulletproof on my super oily lids
*Concrete Minerals– Lip Tints in Gold Plated, Maniac, Glamourpuss, Shadow in Wicked, and freebie packet of powder shadow in Prude –thanks for rec, Michele!
*Makeup Geek – the big 25% off sale made me put in my first order — Blushes in Puppy Love and Scecret Admirer and Shadows in Jester, Steampunk, and Graphite–will swatch this weekend
*Weekend – well it’s been an epic week of storms here in CA, will need this weekend to rest and recover. My Ikea bookcase is coming this Saturday, so hopefully we can get it assembled, so I can use it to store all my new makeup, plus future purchases. Swatch and test new makeup. Use up some gift cards at local mall
*Last DIY – turning a plastic basket into a lipliner holder
I’ll be very curious to hear how Makeup Geek works for you, Katherine!
Raining makeup AND just plain rain! I bet the break in rain is very welcome at the moment!
Haul: My Beautylish Lucky bag ($75 version)! I got Smith and Cult Tainted Lip Stain in Kissing Tiny Flowers, Oribe Gold Dust Dry Shampoo, the supposedly Chikuhodo powder brush, Becca Blushed with Light palette, Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Skin Liquid in Candlelight, Bioderma Micellar Water, and a $20 Beautylish gift card. I have seen what others received and I am overall very pleased with my lucky bag. I can’t wait to do this again in January 2018!
I am absolutely fascinated by the Smith & Cult lip stain–it is too neutral for me and my older lips don’t like to be dry, but when I top it with BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie gloss in Maverick, I am completely thrilled!
My hair is so curly and big on its own that I’m afraid to even try the dry shampoo, lol.
The Becca Blushed with Light palette is beautiful and I already use the Kevyn Auccoin Celestial Skin, so now I have a back up.
The only item in my bag that is a let down is the red powder brush that is reportedly a Chikuhodo brush. If this represents the quality of Chikuhodo brushes, then I will never spend my money on Chikuhodo. Anyone else get this brush? What are your thoughts?
I can’t wait to spend my $20 gift card–any recommendations on what I should consider?
Weekend: Read! We’re having an ice storm on Saturday and Sunday, so I plan on spending Sunday on the couch with fire in the fireplace, cat on my lap, and book in hand.
Last DIY project: My make up, everyday!
Your Lucky Bag seems pretty good, Tammy!
You might check out brands like RCMA, Inglot, or Jouer on Beautylish! Alternatively, money towards a brush… or maybe a Z Palette if you need one!
Is there any reference for your chikuhodo brush?
Jouer makes lovely lip topers and glosses. Charlotte Tilbury lip cheat in pillow talk.
RCMA translucent powder.
You’ll pry my Chikuhodo brushes out of my cold dead hands. I am so sorry that one is less than stellar. I did return two, but not because of quality. They were just too small for foundation and contour application. In fact, I have several more en route from Japan. I have two of the same powder brushes from their GNS line and absolutely love them.
That’s the thing as a marketer that I know quite well….disappoint a potential customer with a high end product that doesn’t perform, and you’ve likely lost them for life.
I’m getting a bag next year. That sounds like a nice offering.
Linda, I am really struggling with this brush. I’d like to get more Chikuhodo brushes but am not willing until I understand what happened with this one. I am actually hoping it is not really a Chikuhodo brush.
Tammy,
I would be gun shy too. Totally. I guess what I would say is IF you decide to give them a try, order them from Beautylish with the mindset that if they disappoint, you return. Period.
I feel confident enough to order straight from Japan. Visage has brushes Beautylish does not carry. I’ve been so pleased, I’m confident in doing this. BUT…if I want to return, they have to be unopened and unused. Beautylish removes that risk.
Then again, if Chikuhodo did allow a piece of crap to be used, then they deserve the wrath and the no-purchase from people who received a sub-standard product.
The brush is reportedly a custom designed Chikuhodo RE-18-1 powder brush, made specifically for this year’s Lucky Bag. It’s supposed to be similar to the RE-20-1. It does not have Chikuhodo’s stamp on it, and it feels very cheap. I have a $15 face brush that feels better than this brush. I only own one other Chikuhodo brush (blush) but the quality of the cheek brush feels much better. Like I said, maybe I just don’t understand how Chikuhodo designs powder brushes. Maybe they’re supposed to be scratchy and sparse?
That is odd and very disappointing considering the reputation of chikuhodo! I checked the reference you provided to me. It should have some give but being sparse no… Scratchy even less! Did you try to contact beautylish about it?
The brush has caused quite a commotion, and Beautylish is reportedly going to send out some kind of response to customers who received the brush. The value of my bag was worth the money I spent, without the brush, but as someone who was going to invest in Chikuhodo brushes in 2017, I am now concerned about the brushes being worth the price.
I tend to believe that items of permanent ranges in general are reliable… But I completely get you!
Wow. Nice to know Beautylish is standing by their collab. brush though. As I said, I got the Goss one. I already had 2 of the #2 but I do use it. I initially was impressed with his brushes but I’m finding over time, they really aren’t holding up that well – I’m having bristle fall-out. Still, given what we paid for the bags, I feel I got the money’s worth anyway. Like you, I was considering the Chikuhodo brushes based on Linda’s review of her haul. I’ll wait to hear more from everyone.
I got a makeup atelier 5 pan palette in mine and I’m using my $20 gift card ( YAY US for the extra luck!) for another. I was all set to spend it on the celestial liquid you got ( how weird is that? Lol ) or a charlotte tilbury boob blush but nope I NEED MORE MUA! The 2 shimmers were comparable to any quality shimmers but the mattes….the mattes are PERFECTION! I can’t imagine a better matte shadow in existence. They made me giggle. I just had a birthday, I’m in my 40’s now and I giggled like a little girl. As soon as I swatched them I just started giggling with joy. I grabbed a brush and as they laid down perfectly without primer, I just kept giggling. I didn’t even need to blend! They just diffuse themselves almost. I have never had spontaneous giggles erupt before but the mattes were such a surprise delight…I’m really glad I was alone though! Can you imagine watching a grown a$$ woman in a full on giggle fit over eyeshadow? Lol now you probably can. I hope they are all that great! Beautylish carries Inglot too. They are another seriously underrated inexpensive brand. Oh wait, I think Christine already recommended them. She knows far more than I do so I’ll just say ditto to her recommendations!
Thanks for the recommendations, Bonnie. I’ve never loved a Matte shadow (I tolerate them as a sometimes necessary evil for a transition shade, lol) but maybe MUA would change my mind?
Hi Tammy 🙂 Im not getting my notifications for some reason. I happened to see this while I was searching past comments to make sure I’m really not getting notices, so there’s definitely a glitch or something with my account. I’m sorry for not answering you sooner! I love my sparkle too. Nothing grabs my attention faster than…SOMETHING SHINY lol I think MUA would be a great matte start for you. The one I have has 2 shimmers and 3 mattes but I’ve seen one going around that is 5 mattes. That would be a really good choice. You would have something small with a few quality mattes in basic shades. That way you’re covered on the necessities and could turn your attention to the fun stuff!
I love the Make-Up Atelier Eyeshadow Palettes from Beautylish. I have a few swatched on my social media.
I totally forgot to report my Lucky Bag! I got: IT Confidence in a Cream, Clean Apothecary Brush Shampoo, Make-Up Atelier Palette Eye Shadows in Honey Brown (one I didn’t have!), IT Cosmetics Superhero Masara, Wayne Goss Brush 02, and Oribe Dry Texturing Spray. I’m happy with everything except the IT cream. I had bought it previously and while it may work, I can’t stand the smell.
I was wondering where your Beautylish Lucky Bag was, Michelle! I was actually thinking I might like it IT Cream, but it would not have been my first pick. I was hoping for a Natasha Denona 5-pan or a small Viseart palette, but then I realized if I really want those things, I can buy them. As a person who can afford most things on my wish list, maybe not all at
once but over the course of the year, I really enjoy the excitement of getting a surprise package of cosmetics I might have not chosen for myself and the opportunity to try something new.
For the money, the Make-Up Atelier palettes are a stellar buy. I now own 4 of them and every single shadow in each of them is great. The line actually has many many more variations and I had contacted Beautylish some time ago to see when (or if) they were going to stock them. They indicated they intended to but I haven’t seen them yet. You seriously cannot go wrong with any of those palettes.
Hi Tammy, you got a really lucky bag! Congrats! I heard the red powder brush was made especially for Beautylish for the Lucky Bags. Mine arrived today and will be picking it up this weekend.
Haul: Last of my holidays sales came it. lol Limecrime Red Rose and Fuchsia Rose Velvetines tins, and single shades of Bloodmoon, Eclipse, and Rasin Hell.
Weekend plans: More work & resume sending.
What was your last DIY project?: I made a Santa sequin fabric stripped hat for work over the holidays. lol
But I’m currently working on 2 cosplays for this year. I’m making a wrought iron top hat out of foam and thermal plastic. But took a break to work on some cameo setting recolouring to silver and removing the foil back of a 40mm teardrop Swarovski crystal….
I feel so bad for Mellan, That first day he probably was a bit traumatised. 🙁
Haha! Like Christmas every week, eh? LOL, that is what my Dad said to me after staying here for a week and a half.
He was REALLY, really vocal (whining, crying, whistling). I guess that is a common enough reaction to anesthesia for dogs, but I don’t recall it happening to that extent before. He was just inconsolable the first night – but he seemed fine when we initially picked him up, it was only when it was bed time.
My family keeps asking is there MORE. lol And yes I have a number of cheap china finding for my cosplays to still come in but they will be in small envelopes compared to all these boxes. lol
Mellan was so happy to see you but when it starts to wear off he it’s probably “Why is this happening to me, why am I feeling so weird”. I’ve been there Mellan, with dental surgery. Taking me out of the office both of my parents had to carry me by the arms and I was an inconsolable mess with whatever the cocktail of drugs they gave me. But I did manage to crash at home and sleep through the day into the next on the coach. lol
Yes, apparently people have some real reactions to being put under! I haven’t had any crazy stories myself, so this was new to me!
Glad you were okay!
I THINK they think that going to sleep is anesthesia all over again. Omg! I go to sleep and look what’s awful, when I wake up! I know that’s anthropomorphizing, but I really think it’s pretty normal for fur guys to be afraid to sleep after anesthesia. I think it goes away, as they realize that sleeping does not mean feeling worse. Been praying for him. Glad to know he’s on the mend.
It must be pretty scary, since you can’t explain to the animal this is what’s going to happen, so they just wake up going, “WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!”
Poor Mellan! Hope he feels better soon.
Haul: Not a lot, I’m trying to cut back on the acquiring a bit and just take time to enjoy things I’ve accumulated during the extended end-of-year sale period
– Sigma 3DHD Precision Brush: I loved the 3DHD foundation brush and this one works really well for under eye, can get the tip right into the creases
– Rimmel Scandaleyes Thick & Thin Liner: Picked it up on a whim because it was half price at the supermarket. So far I like the sharpie like tip because it works well with the super liquid formula and also easy to get right under the lash line but I’ve still not perfected the thickness control technique. Inadvertent thick feline flicks all the time.
– Shu Uemura Tokyo Girl Eye & Cheek Palette: Another on-a-whim buy, it was on clearance. The formulations are sheer but smooth and blendable and I quite like that it is arranged in two quintets, one warm and one cool.
– tarte Rainforest of the Sea Pretty Little Lippies Deluxe Lip Set: Was on sale for $12 at Sephora Australia and I had a $10 Sephora birthday voucher burning a tiny $10 sized hole in my pocket. They threw in a birthday blush duo (the pigmentation and formulation is not that great unfortunately) and a 1.2g mini Kat Von D Studded Kiss lipstick in Cathedral.
Weekend Plans:
Oh man got a list of chores as long as my arm but I suspect I’ll just f*ck-all and sleep in instead. Maybe go shopping.
DIY:
Does cooking count? (heh), just finished a batch of Dulce De Leche. Otherwise I’m slowly knitting a super chunky blanket/throw with a celtic knot pattern, hopefully when I finish it it will be large enough to accommodate the 6’2″ husband.
That is a great idea – always good to take time to play with what you’ve purchased first! 🙂
Ah, I am happy he is back on his feet now! Enjoy your weekend with him Christine!
Nothing to haul! Yes! ?Although last week I bought three books, and this week a cardigan and some tops. And now I want to go out to see if I can find jeans that goes with the cardigan… ?? So I hope next week will be a complete succesfull no buy, hahaha!
No specific plans. Does DIY scrub body wash count? I made a nice one with coconut scented shower gel and sugar. 🙂
DIY body wash totally counts!
Haul: Nothing Yet!
Weekend Plans: The usual; Grocery shopping and games. Tonight it’s the vet 🙁 Hopefully sleeping in!
DIY: I planted some bulbs yesterday, does that count?
Hope the vet visit goes okay!
Vet? Hope it’s routine….
Wishing Mellan the best <3
Thanks, Elizabeth!
Christine, how did the results turn out (if you are ok with sharing – if not, I completely understand).

Weekend plans: Salon appointment in the morning to get my hair done. Comcast/Xfinity is coming for an install of a replacement modem on Monday morning. It’s a 3 day weekend so not sure what else.
What was your last DIY project?: DIY and I do not go well together.
No results yet – they take 10-14 days to get back (maybe late next week). They took five samples (from the liver), and they were sent across the country. I will definitely keep everyone posted! I normally would keep a lot of this under wraps, but it is serious enough that should we get really bad news, I don’t want anyone to blindsided by it as I know some have “known” Mellan as long as I have.
How do you like Paul & Joe overall?
Will keep your family in my thoughts. Waiting is the worst!
Paul & Joe is superb! Aside from their adorable themed collections each season, the quality of each product is outstanding. I’ve only ever bought a single product where one shadow was so-so (but because of that, it actually worked out better for me). I highly recommend the brand.
Thank you, Michele! (x2)
I can totally relate re: keeping difficult things under wraps vs sharing, and I have come to realize that if you share things, you have a lot more support vs having to struggle with issues on your own because noone knows what happened.
Yes, how is Paul & Joe
Mo I responded to Christine but if there’s a specific Paul & Joe product you’re interested in, let me know and I’ll let you know if it’s something I’ve tried. 🙂
That P&J cat blush truly is the cutest thing ever, and I’m not into whimsical in m/u, particularly. For a brief period, Sephora had Paul & Joe, and I picked up a few things. The design factors are always fascinating. Better look in my P & J bag, forget what’s in it! One of the best things about your hauls is that it gives me different things to look at, like ysl/CNY.
The P&J blush is adorable but the quality is really there too. I really had to hunt for the YSL palette. I knew it was supposed to be on pre-order but Saks hadn’t posted it. I ended up contacting their brand Rep. who got it uploaded and linked me to it. Funny thing too – the YSL NY palette is actually $1 cheaper than the blush retails for normally! It’s also much less expensive than the Armani $88 highlighter (champagne shade with fire rooster emblazened) or the $150 Estee Lauder NY releases.
A ball! Somebody might throw something! Feel better, Mellan sweetie!
Haul:
Sisley: Phyto-Poudre Libre in 0 Irisée. I’ve wanted a setting powder for quite some time. But in one’s 50s, more products don’t work than do (cake face). I use the puff, brush off anything extra, and is a lovely finish that keeps things in place. Very happy with it.
Sisley sample: I got a sample of their Black Rose Cream Mask. The SA said you can sleep in it, so I did. It’s supposed to be smoothing, plumping, revitalizing, softening and hydrating. I’ll say. I woke up to skin I haven’t seen in decades. Could not believe it. It’s just super expensive, so I’m trying the Sephora sleeping mask that Mariella recommended to see if I can recreate even a bit of what this product did. It was amazing.
Marc Jacobs: Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Black and Brown. They don’t make my eyes itch. I’m going to get the thin one this week. Like them a lot.
Elf: Smudge Pot in Cruisin’ Chic. A member review here convinced me to test it against the TF Platinum. She was right. The color is SO close, and the quality of the Elf is excellent. The TF is going back unused.
Birchbox: My son’s GF gave me this for Xmas! I got:
Shiseido Cleansing Oil
Eyeko Skinny Liquid Liner
Klorane Dry Shampoo (will never use)
Chella Clear Eyebrow Gel (which I’m hoping will be as good as ABH — last two of hers I got were dry in a month.)
Wilma Schumann Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads — using tonight
Weekend Plans: Absolutely nothing on the docket.
DIY: DIY for me is DI-Never. 🙂 I’m not a crafty project person at all.
Oops, forgot two things:
Tom Ford Cream Eyeshadow in Pink Haze: I like very much. I think the color is somewhat unique, and I don’t have anything like it in my collection. The first time I used it I thought it was a big mistake, but that was an incorrect read. It looks flattering I think, and it does help me get ready quick, quick in the morning.
Kevin Aucoin Neo Bronzer Blush in Capri: Meh. Jury out. The quality is lovely. It’s not that. I think I like the bronzer. The blush is kind of pale on me, so I have to do some mixing. Alone it doesn’t last as long as my TF or Nars options so that’s a minus too. I want another blush or two in my collection, but I’m not sure this is it. I’ll use it, just not sure it was the best choice.
Always happy to hear when a reader finds the right powder for their skin type! I assume it is worth the price, then 😉 Let us know if the Sephora mask comes close to the Black Rose mask!
Christine,
Yeah, the price thing. 🙂 Trust me, if I could use Coty Airspun I’d be all over it! Even LM — good god, no. May the goodness of this product truly hold up over time is all I can say.
Haul: Finally nabbed Selena e/s and the Amor Prohibido glaze lipstick from the Selena collection. Grazing the week mark my Beautylish lucky bag arrived. I got Oribe texture spray, a brush shampoo, A Wayne Goss #2 brush (YAY), a Jouer lip cream in Lychee, a 5 pan Makeup Atelier palette that is amazing (the mattes! OMG the mattes! Perfection) a jar of it cosmetics confidence in a cream moisturizer and a $20 gift card! I was very happy with my bag.
Weekend Plans: My homemade vanity, cobbled together storage system and two 5 drawer units are all put together and in place. Now starts DUN DUN DUNNNN;::spine chilling horror movie music::: decluttering and organizing. I wanted to declutter as we packed away but it was impossible. While I had the help of many people I was going to take advantage! So much building, assembling and rearranging happened. It was a HUGE task but I’m proud we pulled it off. The declutter and organize though…oh my. That’s going to eat lots of weekends!
Last DIY Project: Building my own makeup storage system that I just wrote about in question 2 lol The vanity building was done by my fabulous family! I’m not skilled enough for that but my storage system looks pretty good. Im just extremely grateful and so excited that what I saw in my head came to life, and that my family loves me and was willing to make manual labor my birthday gift. I could thank them a million times and it wouldn’t be enough!!
Get Well Soon Mellan!!!! Me and my dog Sunny send you love!!
Nice Lucky Bag haul, Bonnie! Very fun to see what everybody gets 🙂
Congrats on your makeup storage system!
Thank you! The joy over my storage system is still just as strong as it was the first day. Non-makeup Junkies will never understand the happiness in knowing exactly where my elf makeup corrector pen is when I get a mascara transfer dot. Or not having to sift to find a sharpener. It feels like such a luxury!
This part is for you Christine it’s super embarrassing! I was convinced I had offended you or said something that annoyed you. Suddenly I just stopped getting reply messages. At first I didn’t think anything because you’re so busy I don’t expect you to answer every comment. I like you far too much to want you chained to a keyboard answering every post I make. After a couple months though I started to worry. I should have said something instead of being a dumbass and racking my brain to figure out what I could have said. When I was looking up swatches a few days ago I happened to see I had commented and you had replied the same genuine way you always do. It felt like a knot came out of my stomach I was so relieved! I respect you so much it was upsetting thinking I’d said something dumb and lost your good opinion <—– not the phrase I want but I'm blanking so it'll have to do. Anyway, a few days ago I sent in a email to tech support wanting to change my email. I just haven't heard back yet. This main account has gotten so cluttered and full I thought maybe I had just missed the notices LOL are you sensing the pattern here? I should never think ! Lol I'm always wrong. Anyway, I'm going to try changing my email but if that doesn't work is tech problems the right thing to pick when sending a message?
I'm sorry for the book length! Thank you for your patience with me and THANK YOU for NOT being mad or disliking me!! Whew! Such a relief!
Your friendly yet totally out of character paranoia victim bwahahaha
Bonnie
Hi Bonnie!
Yes, tech is the right place, but I’ll make sure to send a note to Nick to let him to know to look at your email. The only thing I can think of is to check your spam to see if the replies have gone there 🙂
Right now, I try to reply as much as I can, and when comments start to add up and they’re 5-7 days old (or older), then I approve without replying – unless there’s a question, then I try to reply to that still.
Haul: Ulta – a boatload of GWP, Murad Invisiblur and Environmental Shield Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum
Weekend plans: revamping my desk area and breakfast date
What was your last DIY project?: I don’t remember, but I’ll be working on one this weekend.
Have fun on your breakfast date!
I hope your pup has good results and feels better soon!
Last haul: From Sephora, Urban Decay Afterdark Eyeshadow Palette, Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip kit, and Urban Decay De-Slick Complexion Primer.
Weekend plans: Monday is a work holiday so I will spend the 3-day weekend watching horror movies. I’m a huge horror nut so I will be celebrating Friday the 13th all weekend! If I feel motivated, I may prune our crepe myrtles. My husband and I moved into our home at the end of 2016. The yard is huge and woodsy and we’re constantly discovering new plants in the yard. I’d say we have 10 neglected crepe myrtles to wrangle before the winter is over. I might make some chili too.
Last DIY project: Hmm…not really craft-related but I organized my closet (including my makeup storage, subscription box swaps area, and skincare drawers) and donated a lot of unused clothing to a local rescue mission.
How do you like the Afterdark palette, Carolann?
Enjoy your Friday the 13th marathon 😉
Aww! Still wanting to play only the next morning may be a good sign I hope. Sleeping on the floor had to rough, but you’re a wonderful furbaby Mom, so we do these things. Paws and fingers crossed that all is fine with Mellan’s biopsy.
Haul: Just a bunch of hair products from Ulta and Sally’s! Got a liter bottle of Matrix Biolage Conditioning Cleanser for Curly Hair, Shea Moisture 10-In-1 Hair Masque and also their African Water Mint & Ginger Detox & Refresh leave-in detangler, which I used last night after putting my hair through the ringer with a bleach bath to lift some of the dye build-up through the length so that I could go with a red-violet based deep brown instead of the chocolate toned deep brown I’ve been filling my roots with to cover gray. This may have been a huge mistake. My roots, being salt and pepper now have a raspberry bright cast on whichever hairs were previously white. ?
Weekend plans: Finally! Something to look forward to! Meeting up with my son to go to Sealife at AZ Mills Mall, plus go watch Star Wars Rogue One and possibly hit up Rainforest Café while we’re at it! Sunday, my meeting.
What was your last DIY project: From scratch homemade gluten free banana bread. Did this recipe before, but should have let the bananas ripen one more day. They rinds were speckled, but I usually wait until they half brown outside for a sweeter flavor.
Also, I suppose my hair was a DIY project, too!
I was feeling my age trying to sleep on the floor, LOL.
Have you been to Sealife before? I have not been but have heard it’s better than the new one by Talking Stick Resort!
Oh, I believe it! Sleeping on the floor is no fun. Haven’t done it myself in around 14 years.
This would’ve been my first time at Sealife, unfortunately there was just a change of plans after my son checked the bus schedule. Due to the Rock n Roll Marathon, every bus he or I needed has been detoured, as in only going but so far. Nothing coming from the westside will be able to get past 40th or 44th St. So we will try for next week. I knew about the other marathon we have every year, the PF Chang, but we didn’t know about this one!
Darn! Well, hopefully you can go next week 🙂
Haul: I bought some booties yesterday and plan to buy the Laura Mercier Editorial Palette. The colors are beautiful and the swatches came out nicely.
Weekend Plans: Clean out my closet, take photos of stuff I bought last week, yoga
Last DIY project: Not really DIY but I bought an acrylic magazine holder set to house my sheet masks.
Hope Mellan feels better!
What type of yoga do you do, Indya?
I used to do a lot of Yogalates (yoga + Pilates) but find myself doing more of the basic flow yoga these days. Not an expert so idk if it’s hatha, ashtanga, etc. I just do what my body tells me. 🙂
Haul: I got my Beautylish Lucky Bag in! Unfortunately, I had my wisdom tooth surgery on Tuesday and it was a doozy so I haven’t gotten to test anything. I got a travel size Oribe dry texture spray, travel size Bioderma micellar water, IT Cosmetics universal brow pencil, Makeup Atelier Paris eyeshadow palette, Wayne Goss eyebrow brush set, and Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Pearl. I’m only disappointed about the Becca one, not because I don’t like it but because I already have it! And who’s ever gone through a whole highlighter? Maybe I’ll try to trade it or sell it to a friend. I also got a Peter Thomas Roth mini mask set from Sephora, which I also haven’t been able to try since I can barely touch my face without wincing.
Weekend plans: Continue to recover! I have my follow-up appointment with the oral surgeon this afternoon.
Last DIY project: I’m actually an avid knitter, as some of you might know from visiting my blog (linked below), so the last DIY project of mine has been a few pairs of socks, knitted concurrently.
Hope you are feeling more like yourself after your surgery, Kat!
I believe a lot of people are selling/trading on Reddit’s subreddit for makeup exchanges, especially Lucky Bag stuff!
Aww so sorry Mellan is sick! Hope he feels better soon. So awesome that you slept on the floor with him.
Haul: I have been really good with holding off on makeup since I had an appt with a new dentist who informed me that I NEED $6K of dental work due to, IDK, my last dentist for the past 14yrs being a total quack job and allowing my teeth to get this bad (underneath because my smile still rocks thankfully) – whew ok….sorry I ranted there for a sec. WITH THAT SAID, I just purchased makeup for the 2nd time this yr on sale again. Target had a sale on Sonia Kashuk lipstick and I’ve been wanting to try her but was never sure about $10 for 1 lipstick so I got 2 for $10 instead. The formula is REALLY soft and creamy. A bit like lip gloss so for the price it was nice to have two light weight creamy non drying formulas but they don’t last long at all.
I also got ELF sheer powder which I don’t like and CoverGirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation on sale for $5.58 and I like using drug store foundation on the weekends when I’m not going out so I don’t use my Dior up so fast. This was really nice and the 2nd to darkest color in tan something matches my tone perfectly. Wearing it today and it’s a nice light coverage.
I’m out of my Josie Maran Argan Infinity Creamy Oil however I’ve mentioned before that if you cut it open you’ll see more product inside that I scooped out into two tiny jars that will give me two more months of product use. This product always lasts 8 months not bad for $28
•Weekend plans: Nothing. My cousin is coming up from SD (it’s boring there so she drives to MN) and we might go out. Again don’t have a lot of money to do stuff with since most of my dental is out of pocket cause I have crappy dental ins. (GEEZ sorry guys. I ranted again)
•What was your last DIY project?: OOH for xmas my main boss gave me a $100 Visa GC (last yr it was a $100 Sephora card but she thinks I have a makeup problem so she didn’t contribute this year LOL) and my other boss gave me a $50 Visa GC and I was able to go to Ikea and redo my ENTIRE vanity space in all white for $148!! Can we say AMAZEBALLS! It took 6 hours to put together but it’s lovely guys. I’ll post a pic on my Instagram @momerrell82 if you want to check it out. I’m so happy with it. Still got more work to do with new lights and all but really good.
LOL @ your boss’ reasoning for a different type of gift card (though you could have taken that straight to Sephora anyway….). I’m gonna go look at the pic now! I love seeing vanities.
I hope Mellan gets better soon!
Haul: I have not bought stuff since christmas but I have been very low on skincare. I didn’t even have a moisturizer but used samples. It was 20 percent off on all skincare so today I bought the Clarins extra firming daycream which is a repurchase. I also got a vitamin C serum from Lumene. Never used that but figured vitamin C normally is good in skincare.
Weekend plans: Not much plans. Wil spend time with friends.
DIY: Not sure if I have done that. I fixed a dress that I got stuck in a doorhandle with and it split in the back but I liked the dress so I figured I will mend it and use a belt to cover up the stitches.
Clarins has a lot of great products – thank goodness they had 20% off when you needed it!
Yeees, go ahead and give Mellan and nice calm pamper weekend, he deserves it! <3
Haul: My MAC x Mariah Carey products came in, woot!
Weekend plans: The initial plan was to go skiing, but since the conditions aren't great (snow storm) we probably won't go.
What was your last DIY project?: Oh my… DIY isn't my cup of tea I'm afraid! Can't remember my last DIY project (or even idea).
I’m not much of a DIYer either 😉
Haul: A ton of skincare stuff from sephora (taking advantage of coupon code) Ren hydrating serum-thingy, Drunk Elephant hydra-something or other, Herbivore coconut rose scrub, an overnight pore mask thingy…. I’m sorry I can’t remember. I have full blown pregnancy brain.
**Fun story: before baby, I used to order “pretties” when I was drunk and completely forget about them until a few days later when a box would show up on my porch. I was always surprised, like “I always wanted this but didn’t want to spend the money….”My husband thought it was too funny to lecture me. Now I just order stuff online and forget about it because it looks like I swallowed a beach ball and my brain stopped working like four months ago.**
Weekend: ignoring the 24 hours of playoff football about to enter my house.
DIY: I designed the makeup vanity my husband built by ripping apart an old ikea dresser and measuring/marking how it needed to be cut and reassembled.
Coconut Rose Scrub – you must let me know how that works out! I hear “coconut” and go nuts, ha, ha.
Haul: Korres greek yoghurt advanced nourishing sleeping facial travel size, FRESH rose deep hydration face cream deluxe sample, and a Sephora collection rose sheet mask. I’m trying to find a new nighttime moisturizer so I’m getting deluxe samples and minis of a bunch of different creams.
Weekend Plans: remodeling (it never ends…). Also baking some treats for a friend who just finished radiation treatments. She had to be on a special diet over the holidays so she missed out on all her favorite holiday foods.
Last DIY project: haha the bathroom we’re currently remodeling 🙂 Also I’m sorting through all the physical photo prints I have and am putting the ones I keep in albums or my portfolio, and scanning all my negatives.
Your kindness is so apparent, Alice! 🙂 How sweet of you to bake for your friend. I hope their treatments are going as well as they can!
Thank you 🙂 And she had a full body scan a few days ago, the surgery got all the cancer so they’re pretty confident the one surgery and one radiation treatment was enough, and she’ll be ok!
That is amazing news!!
Oh Christine, I didn’t know things were potentially that serious with Mellan! I just now read your answer to a question and realized I had definitely missed something. I’m so sorry he had to go through that. I’m also sorry you are going through this too. Waiting is so hard, I will keep you and Mellan in my thoughts and prayers. This isn’t for posting I just wanted to say something to you. I wish so badly I could give you both a hug my arms ache. This very poor substitute will have to do (((YOU))) (((Mellan)))
Oh, thank you Bonnie! 🙂 There are some “better” diagnoses and some bad ones, but we are hopeful that whatever is damaging his liver was caught early enough that we can reverse/manage so that it doesn’t impact his life overall.
I forgot to answer the questions!
Haul: Lmao. Soo many drugstore products, and a post-holiday MAC lippie. Mac in Leap of Delight (I freaking love it!) ELF $1 sale: 8 items (still hasn’t shipped yet sadly, they sent an email apologizing). Revlon HD lipsticks, which I love: BOGO at CVS. Some Colourpop stuff for Xmas, which is awesome. And I’m going to get my first Fyrinnae purchase soon. I feel guilty, but I got 30-50% off on everything, so it wasn’t that bad! And I love my entire haul.
Weekend plans: Just relaxing after 3 weeks of holiday and family birthday madness. Celebrated four birthdays last week! I’m teetotal for a couple months, I think. I’ll probably just walk around one of the boardwalks here and listen to live music.
Last DIY project? Does food count? Lol. I made 3 dozen cookies and a big turkey for Xmas! It was excellent, though.
Food might as well count 😉 What type of cookies did you make?
I made sugar cookies with extra vanilla, and a Greek cookie called melomakarona which is beer flavored and honey glazed. They were a hit 😀
Christine,
I sincerely hope Mellan is going to be okay. Sending positive thoughts his way. He is so sweet!
I ordered some of the new ColourPop single pressed eyeshadows. I am so excited to see ColourPop continuing to branch out with more new exciting products.
Thank you, Deb!
I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the new ColourPop eyeshadows! 🙂
Aww feel better Mellan, and I hope that everything goes well with his biopsy! I know how much stress and hurt these things can bring into the puppy parents’ lives, so sending you good vibes and best wishes! I just got back from the vet with my own pup, and he has to go back on Tues. I think it’s about our 15th visit in a year, he’s learned to really get sad when we get out of the car (this isn’t the dog park?!) but all of the lovely people at that clinic love him and treat him well.
Haul: I scored the 750 point Peter Thomas Roth point perk, unbelievably excited about that, and had just picked up the PTR mask sampler set as well so I have been enjoying some masking evenings!
Weekend plans: Celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday, taking it easy with el puppy!
Hope your dog has a good (well, as good as it can be!) visit on Tuesday! Mellan still hasn’t figured it out yet – he can’t wait to go, LOL.
Haul: Beautylish order with six Wayne Goss brushes, Inglot Duraline, Inglot gel liner, and a Sugapill liner brush. I also got my KVD Pastel Goth palette yesterday! The brushes are so soft–I’m in love!
Weekend plans: Lots and lots of reading. But it’s also my birthday weekend! I need to find the right balance, but it is hard in grad school!
What was your last DIY project?: Hm, good question! I don’t really remember, which is sad. I tried to fix a lipstick bullet, if that counts. The lipstick snapped and I tried to melt it back. It was unsuccessful, though!
Great haul, Marina! Happy birthday 😀
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday ?
No haul. Good girl. Sit, stay. Plans:ssdw, but it’s a holiday w/e that will make me mildly redo day job schedule. Thought about a trip to the enclosed beach…too long to explain, but the temp is plummeting. Jussi cannot get out, being surrounded by sea and a rock hill. He loves running full tilt and looking for vermin. Maybe more petfinder. DIY: emptied a z with mufes and put them back in trios, to use the Z. Depotted OLD PASTELS into it. Lancôme Les Surrealistes and Naturalistes (kind of light neutral ones, that, could be crease shades with pastels. Sephora Guimauve (glittery and kind of crappy, but what a great name for a bichon…means marshmallow). Bourjois Les Pastels ( half moon of non-divided pink, green, blue). Hard Candy Dillusional (could even be colored highlighters, with one darker silver). Revlon Crystal Calm quad, also white based, with not a lot of differentiation in color.). Pop beauty Lid Pastels…6 or 7 small pans, pretty powdery (by now) but moderate pigment. The Lancôme had a radically different formula then, far better, I’d say. Did not depot a Dior quint called Tout En Douceur. That’s muted, but not really pastel. The compact is flat and slightly rectangular. Then they changed the pkging to a rounded top, and the shadow quality began to get iffy. Then they got iffier, and I stopped getting them. BUT I really like All Softness, old as it may be. It’s a s.l. better than most in the past few years. Stash shopping can rule.
There’s a beach like that in SF (never been – want to say Fort Funston? something like that) where it’s sand, sea, and a big rocky cliff that no dog is getting up..
How do the old pastels compare to the ones you see now?
Haul: My Makeup Geek Ivory Star Lit Powder should be coming today!!
Weekend plans: Stay home and do some paperwork I’ve been meaning to do.
What was your last DIY project?: The Gingerbread house I did for Christmas?
Hope you love your new highlighter, Cat! 🙂
Haul: the only thing I bought was an Andalou Organics Rose Facial Spray to add to a friend’s Xmas gift (we’ve not seen each other yet to exchange gifts)
Weekend plans: gym, some cooking, some reading – just taking it easy, really
DIY Project: Does sewing clothing count? If so, some items from Christine Jonson Patterns – a skirt (one I’ve made several times and just love) and 2 jackets, as well as a knit t-shirt type top (but a bit dressier than your standard t-shirt).
Have a lovely, easy-going weekend, Mariella 🙂
Aww did they give Mellan pain meds after his biopsy? I always ask the vet for pain meds if they do painful stuff. I’m sure Mellan was comforted by his mommy staying by his side.
Haul: Natasha Denona 28 blue-purple eye shadow palette , KVD Cathedral lipstick( not feeling the color, looks dead on me. Too cool toned) and I got my Sephora birthday gift- nude Tarte blush and lip gloss set. Since it was my birthday I used my 10% ViB and treated myself. Hope this palette is worth it. I really like the green -brown I brought during the 20% Sephora sale.
Weekend plans: Just chill. Me and my daughter caught a bug during the holiday vacation. That seems to linger on. I rarely get colds/flu. And we both took the flu shot in October. Lots of the people in Baltimore where we visited were coughing and sick. 🙁
What was your last DIY project?: Organizing my makeup brushes. I brought another Kevyn Aucoin brush wrap to store my brushes for for travel. I picked up a clear plastic square container from Michaels and filled it with clear glass beads to hold my everyday brushes.
They did! He also had additional pills I gave (as directed) afterward. I think he was OK pain wise (he seemed to move fairly fine – maybe a little stiff), just anxious!
Hope you had a fabulous birthday, Denise 🙂 Let us know how you like the Natasha Denona palette!
Feel better soon!
Happy Birthday, Denise!! Hope you feel better soon
Happy birthday, Denise?
Haul: Not much this week. I picked up the Sunday Riley Tidal in the full size since I had used the trial size. Still don’t know if I like it or not. The trial size is too small to get a feel for how it is going to work and I don’t care for the smell but I have heard so much about it that I wanted to try it. Everything from Sunday Riley is so expensive. I also picked up an ombre blush from Bliss and some skin care from AmorePacific.
Weekend Plans: It is my daughter’s last week home from college before spring semester begins so we are just going to hang out and I am going to make brunch and may have my brother and mom over to spend the day.
DIY: I wish I could say it was finishing up my garage conversion but it has been so cold here that I wouldn’t ask anyone to have to be out there working. I have to decide what I am going to do for heat in the space and I am still undecided. Living in Montana, heat is all important and I don’t want to make a mistake. So, my actual DIY would be ornaments for my Christmas tree. Because the garage was all cleaned out and everything put into storage including my Christmas decorations, I had to make all of the ornaments. I bought a huge amount of white cardstock and did mostly origami folded ornaments and what are called Morovian Stars. Although I think every country that makes them calls them by their country name, such as, Swedish stars, German stars, etc. I have made so many that I can practically make them in my sleep and can watch TV while I make them which makes it go so much faster, LOL.
Sunday Riley is an expensive brand! You must have liked it enough to get a full-size, though – at least it isn’t bad!
Haul: My Beautylish.com lucky bag arrived! I got:
Natasha Denona 5 pan palette no 5 (Satin Skin/Vintage/Aubergine/True Gold/Nina’s Orchid)
Charlotte Tilbury x Norman Parkinson Filmstar Bronze & Glow palette
RCMA No-color finishing powder
Wayne Goss eye brush 04 (already have one but it’s good to have another)
It Cosmetics Superhero mascara
Clean Apothecary Lemon solid brush cleanser
Jouer liquid lipstick in Melon
What a gorgeous lucky bag! Very pleased with it all. Well worth the money.
Plans for weekend: Going back to the old flat to do more sorting, didn’t manage to do it last weekend because we had my fiancé’s mum come over with late Xmas presents for our little girl. Plus I was ill with a migraine.
What was my last DIY project? I don’t really do DIY, I haven’t done any proper wall painting for 10 years! My parents owned my last flat so they did the painting and DIY.
Hope Mellan’s results are ok and that whatever he may have is easily treated. Will keep my fingers crossed for you.
Nice Lucky Bag! What were you most excited to see in it?
The Natasha Denona! Nina’s Orchid was the shade I liked best from your review so I’m chuffed to have it! The True Gold is also stunning altho I’ll have to wear primer under it. I’m also impressed by the CT Filmstar Bronze & Glow, it looks very easy to wear, I swatched it and it looks subtly glowy, I think it’s been done well.
What an amazing Lucky Bag!
I am so glad that Mellon is feeling a little better. I hope the results are positive news. I would sleep with him too.
Haul: Nothing much
Weekend Plans: We are going to a wedding on Saturday, an outdoor ceremony and an indoor reception. I was worried about the outdoor part because it has been so hot here, but the day will be coolish with a southerly breeze and thankfully no humidity. So all I have to do is work out what to wear. Olivia, my 3 yr old grand daughter, has given me her choice (I told her she was my style adviser) and I will probably stick to that as I like it too.
Last DIY Project: Making Christmas decorations with Olivia. I am not a DIY person at all.
Hopefully, the weather holds out, Genevieve! Sounds like your granddaughter already has a great sense of style!
Aw, poor Mellan, not allowed to play! I am so glad he is feeling energetic and playful while you wait for the news from the vet.
Haul: Did a great job not buying anything, but still ended up with a couple great things that I got as belated Christmas gifts: Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow (which I have been lusting after forever!) and a medium Z palette with a depotting tool and magnets.
Weekend plans: Thankfully, not much! I have had a busy couple weeks and am looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow and getting errands done.
What was your last DIY project? I haven’t been doing much crafting lately, but I am huge into fancy gift wrapping and bows, so maybe I’ll say wrapping all the gifts I bought. Your swag sounds beautiful! Where did you end up displaying it?
He can play now, so he’s happy about that, but he had to cool his jets for a couple of days post-biopsy, lol!
I love Filmstar Bronze & Glow! It’s a really nice product. Hope it was worth the wait 🙂
I originally wanted to hang it along a doorway, but it was too much work – so I ended up laying them along the edges of the fireplace, which I quite liked!
Haul: I went by my closest CCO after a doc appointment yesterday and picked up two things at the Esteé Lauder one and one at the Lancome one- at the EL one I got the Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Illuminating Powder Gelée from I think the 2015 summer collection. Soooo gorgeous! I also got the Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder in Sunset Glow (also from their 2015 summer collection I think). At the Lancome outlet I got the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in Ozone.
I also did a Sephora order to get some replacements of some skincare that’s running low, and added in the First Aid Beauty Detox Eye Roller and the Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber De-Tox Hydra-Gel Eye Patches.
Weekend plans: Had a too-busy week so I’m totally out of spoons (chronic pain people know what I mean XD) so I’ll be trying to recover from that.
What was your last DIY project?: It’s been a while because of the health stuff so I don’t quite remember.
PS- I’m glad Mellan is in better spirits post-biopsy!
Can’t believe you were able to find a Gelee at the CCO! That is awesome!
It’s crazy! And they have like 10 of them and they’ve been there for maybe a year or so. If anyone heads to the outlets in Woodburn, Oregon (it’s like a 30 minute drive down from Portland), check out the Cosmetics Company Store as it’s the best outlet I’ve been to. I get most of my Origins skincare there as they consistently stock it and it’s all 33% off.
I hope Mellan’s biopsy goes well. Sending good thoughts.
HAUL– ABH Moonchild palette.
WEEKEND PLANS — Taking care of my younger son. He had oral surgery today to remove all his wisdom teeth. They were impacted.
WHATAT WAS YOUR LAST DIY PROJECT? — The cape and headpiece for my Halloween costume. (The Queen of Hearts.)
Moonchild! Yay.
Hope your son is doing well!
I hope you have a quiet, restful weekend with your sweet Mellan. I know it must be hard for you right now. Haul: I’m still all about lipstick this week. I got NARS Audacious lipsticks in the shades Fanny and Janet, and in their regular line I got Niagra. I also got Liptensity Mulling Spices and Kat Von D Sanctuary, which is the best of everything I just listed. I’m not sure if KVD was part of this week’s haul or last week’s; I definitely like it, though. Weekend plans: was off Friday night and have to work Sat & Sun. What was your last DIY project? It was imaginary, that’s what! Lol. Last summer I got an old armoire off of a yardsale site and pictured myself refinishing it or painting it or something. However, I’m not a crafty person, so of course nothing whatsoever happened. I need to sell it and use the money to buy more makeup….
Fanny and Janet are gorgeous shades. Have you had a chance to wear either of those yet?
Yep! I wore Janet to work last night. Now that I have them I think they look 100% identical!
Haul: New Nars concealer, Sephora coconut face wipes, Sephora lotus sheet mask, and Sephora algae sleep mask
Weekend plans: Husband’s work party, errands, work
What was your last DIY project?: Mine are all for school. Last thing I made was plane tickets to “fly” across Canada with.
Love the Sephora Coconut face wipes!
Haul: Saw the new Chanel’s Coco Codes display and had to have the blush harmony. Picked up the petrol noir eyeliner as well.
Weekend Plans: it’s my last weekend “at home” before returning to the States, so spending time with my mom and in-laws. It’s been a really cold and snowy/blizzard-y week, so running necessary errands planned for earlier in the week.
DYI: A few Christmases ago, my grandma wanted a fake floral arrangement that she could enjoy year round. I picked out the main elements and had assistance placing the finishing touches. Way back when, I used to make Christmas wreaths.
Petrol Noir is fun. Not quite black but still very rich!
Smoochies to Mellan.
I did buy one MAC shadow in Satellite Dream.
Working today.
Tomorrow I will be cleaning the house…nothing glamorous.
How do you like Satellite Dreams?
Before I start my haul 😛 I wanted to let you all know, I had my surgery yesterday!! The surgeon said he got as much of the tumor out as he could, I didn’t lose ANY teeth, But I can’t feel half of my bottom lip (the tumor was ontop of a nerve!!) but the feeling MIGHT come back with time!!
Anywho!
Haul: I ordered Bossy lippy pencil, Come and get it pressed shadow, High strung pressed shadow, Take it slow pressed shadow, Bel Air pressed shadow, Bae cream shadow, Glitterati cream shadow, School is fun highlighter, and perilune highlighter from Colourpop
I have 3 shadows coming from Coastal scents (I got a shimmery coral, and a shimmery pink, and a yellow gold. I’m going to put them into my cheek travel Z pallet as blushes and highlight!!)
I made a pretty big order on ELF back on December 28th, and I emailed them two days ago asking where my order is, and they replied and shipped my order two days ago, and yesterday I got a full refund from them!! So that’s cool!! I’ll be able to keep the products, and they refunded me for having to wait so long!
Weekend plans: I’m spending the next 3/4 months in recovery!! I’ll be laying around the house having my brother take care of me and help me out with eating and all that stuff!! I plan to sit on the couch with netflix today!!
Last DIY project: HMM. I honestly can’t say? I made a home made lip scrub the other week? if that counts!
Oh, so glad your surgery seemed to go so well, Shannon! Please keep us posted. Wishing you a swift recovery and increased feeling in your bottom lip!
Aww, Mellan is looking adorable. Hoping for a fast recovery.
Haul: Guerlain Meteorites Happy Glow Blush. Makes me happy, it’s so pretty. Smashbox Legendary Lipstick in Famous. YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils’ Mascara in Burgundy. PTR Mask Sampler. Bite Beauty The Perfect Pair Meringue/Fig. IT Cosmetics CC Cream, IT Cosmetics Superhero Elastic Mascara, NYX lipstick in Summer Love and Kat Von D Pastel Goth eyeshadow palette for my daughter for Valentine’s Day. Oh my, that’s enough!
Weekend Plans: Trader Joe’s, brunch today and putting away rest of Christmas Stuff.
Last DIY Project: Not sure it qualifies, but I painted my dining room ceiling navy blue two years ago.
Happy to hear you’re enjoying your new Guerlain blush! It seems to have sold out!
Unfortunately for my wallet, I gave in to the temptation and hauled a ton of stuff that was on sale in Illamasqua website. 4 nail polishes, 2 eyeliners, an eyeshadow quad, a pot of cream e/s, a set of a red lipstick/lipliner/lipgloss, an eyeshadow brush…
What else? A dermaloguca ultracalming serum.
Weekend plans were just spending time with my family.
DIY project: homemade bread!
What kind of bread did you make, Anna?
That video is gorgeous, he just adores you doesn’t he! I’m not up with the play, what was the reason for the biopsy? We all so appreciate being kept in the loop, I know so many of us love Mellan!
He had some bloodwork done (we were going to have his teeth cleaned), and since he’s 9 years old, they did a full blood panel. Pretty much all of the indicators that show signs of liver damage/problems did. We did a follow-up chest/abdomen x-ray that seemed to be looking mostly for masses (cancer), which was clean, and was then referred to an internal medicine specialist, who performed an ultrasound. The ultrasound revealed nodules on the liver (more or less, confirming that yes, something is wrong there), but unfortunately, it’s hard to diagnose what’s causing damage without a biopsy. So, they did that and took five pieces of his liver and sent them around the country! We should get results either late this week or early next week.
I’m a vet nurse and reading that just warms my heart. So fortunate that you went ahead with the blood panel pre-surgery, because you know now! Wishing you the best of luck, I’ll be looking out for news 🙂
