Haul: I ended up getting both of the NARS Unfiltered Blush palettes and I love them so much! Fabulous product aside (and it really is), the packaging and layout and just beautiful. And I feel like they both work really well on my skin tone! Also picked up the Becca Glow on the Go set because the had a 25% off promo and somehow I have never acquired Opal so this completes my Becca highlight hoard ? Then I saw a ton of UD products appear in Sephora’s sale section this morning (heads up, everybody!) so I picked up the Revolution gloss in Liar.

Weekend plans: getting ready for the holiday! And on Sunday we are going to finally go see Fantastic Beasts.

What’s your favorite organizational tool?: post-it notes and hand written lists. I’m old school!

I really love the top middle shades in both palettes: Me First, a shimmery orange peach shade, in Unfiltered I, and Undefeated, an almost metallic warm pretty pink in Unfiltered II. They are both deliciously shimmery and gorgeous- what can I say, I really am a magpie!- and both are very wearable as neither base color is too bold or shocking. I can’t wait to play around more with all of the other shades, they are all soft, smooth and blendable ?

Tammy Avatar

Oh god yes, post it notes, lol! My whole life is all over the house on post it notes.

I had a feeling that NARS Unfiltered II was going to work on my medium skin tone, and now you’ve confirmed it. And I just saw those Urban Decay lipglosses on sale. Just when I promised myself I wouldn’t spend anymore money on cosmetics in December…

Julia Avatar

Between the two I would still say Unfiltered I is the one to get, but I am very happy with II as well! The only problematic shade for me is the upper left corner, Conquest, which is the lightest. It’s almost lighter than my skintone, so not ideal. I just have to build up to a very subtle result.

Haul:
Birchbox ($26 off – used Birchbox points): Atelier Cologne (Vanille Insensee Cologne Absolue 100 ml), Birchbox 5 piece brush set (GWP). I also subscribed to Birchbox monthly. They were doing a code for a free mystery box for new subscribers and I figured 2 boxes had to be worth the $10. I’m on the fence about Birchbox shop orders. still waiting for the perfume to move and it was originally ordered on 12/9!

Birchbox (20% off): Atelier Cologne Soap (Vanille Intensee), Herbivore Botanicals Brighten Pineapple Enzyme + gemstone Instant Glow Mask

ColourPop: Pop Rocks, Liberty, Hanky Panky, Patchwork, Babykins, Meow, GWP Shader Brush (2), Blending Brush (1)

Dolls Kill (Buy One, Get One 50% off): Nevermind Cosmetics Lipstick (Bored AF), I also got a wig for next Halloween

Giorgio Armani (20% off + free ship + free engraving): Ecstasy Lacquer Limited Edition Holiday 2016 (507) – engraved with BINXCAT of course 😉

Kiko Milano ($5 off): Water Eyeshadow: Buy 2, Get 1 Free (Light Gold, Orchid Purple, Rosy Taupe), High Pigment Wet and Dry Eyeshadow: Buy 2, Get 1 Free (Matte Pansy, Matte Deep Violet, Pearly Grey Violet, Matte Hazelnut, Metallic Bronze, Metallic Grape Juice), Smart Colour Eyeshadow (Metallic Jeans Blue). The shadows are superb!

LORAC: PRO Liquid Lipstick (Wisteria), Travel Size Front Of The Line PRO Eye Pencil (GWP). Just shipped.

Lord & Taylor (10% off plus clearance): Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow (Mulberry). I actually only added this to another order to reach the free shipping. I was ordering a pair of Karl Lagerfeld boots which with the sale and promos ended up being half price.

Neiman Marcus: I had an e-VISA card for $20 that I had gotten for completing a survey. I was looking for something that would be exactly $20 to use up the card. I ended up buying the NARS nail polish in Purple Rain (plus getting 10% cash back!)

Sephora: Clearance – Sephora Collection Pro Gel Liner Brush, Classic Sheer Complexion Brush; Too Faced Sweet peach Creamy Peach Lip Oil Peach, Please!, Pure Peach), 100 point reward – Atelier Vanille Intensee. Not shipped. sephora is failing hard on shipping lately!

Sleek Hair (20% off): Morphe Makeup Set ( Heartfelt Glamour – 35N), Morphe 6 Piece Deluxe Contour Set (was also on sale), White Sands Liquid Texture – Medium Hold (33.8 oz / liter refill), White Sands ER Fusion – Emergency Reconstructive Treatment (2, was also on sale). Received an email 3 hours after order placed notifying me that my items were out of stock. I picked Option 3 and cancelled the entire order.

Ulta (20% off plus used points – total order cost me $31.54!): Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Anti Chip Top Coat, Butter London x Pantone Color of the Year Plush Rush Lip Gloss (Sparkling Green), Butter London x Pantone Color of the Year Lacquer (Greenery), Macadamia Professional Weightless Moisture Dry Oil Micro Mist and GWP Weightless Moisture Shampoo, Tarte Double Duty Don’t Be Afraid to Dazzle Contour and Highlight Palette, Z Palette (Small – 2), Sultra The Vixen Volumizing Dryer Brush. ulta shipped in 2 packages. I received the first package 5 minutes ago and the second one should arrive tomorrow.

Weekend plans: They’re calling for snow/freezing rain so not sure.

What’s your favorite organizational tool?: My brain 🙂 Hahahahahaha!

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

Oh and non-makeup buys: Faux fur bomber from ASOS, black quilted jacket and dark blue velvet boots from H&M, Karl Lagerfeld leather boots from Lord & Taylor, Irregular Choice boots from Modcloth, Jimmy Choo heels from the Real Real (so they’re new to me but not new – still, I paid $26 for them since I got a $50 site credit!), and my Notoriously Morbid Vanishing Cabinet subscription box shipped as did my Rachel Zoe Box of Style. I’ve got my eye on 4 pairs of Irregular Choice shoes so will decide this weekend. So much for my low buy….

Nancy T Avatar

Hmm, if that was supposed to be next day delivery, one has GOT to wonder if that was the case. That palette seems to literally vaporize as soon as it releases! Sephora was supposed to apply Rouge 2 day shipping to mine, and *forgot*. MAC was also supposed to apply 2 day shipping for Devoted and Obsessed levels, however there was a computer glitch where it neglected to notice people’s levels. I received it 10 days later.

I will keep an eye out for Meow. But it could be another 4-5 months before they bring it back out. I actually blame myself for missing out this time.

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

If I have the energy, I may call Sephora tomorrow. I just feel like they’re going to blow me off. I did email them but of course I haven’t received a response.

You know, when I placed my CP order, I thought I’d end up liking Pop Rocks better than Meow. I swatched them tonight and the opposite is true. Meow swatched as a really pretty light silvery grey with pink and grey and blue shimmer whereas Pop Rocks swatched as a bright bold turquoise blue with pink and purple shimmer. Pop Rocks may be difficult to wear for me.

Haul: When I went Christmas shopping on Monday I used my $25 card from Sephora and pick up the Ciaté London Kiss Collective: Mini Liquid Velvet Trio and finally the Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder Highlight 01.
Also the Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss in POTION for 100 point but I was thinking it was the liquid lipstick because it was hard to read the display tube. lol

Weekend plans: More work and we are doing Secret Santa at work so I’m bringing in something for one of our bakers.

What’s your favorite organizational tool?: Pen and paper. Just write it all down. 😉

One experiment, an interesting comment, and a humorous tutorial.

Experiment:
A few YouTubers (including Puffin’s Wife who I think does a good, honest job) did a comparison between the Soleil Tan De Chanel and the Sonia Kashuk Undetectable Creme Bronzer. I couldn’t resist. I had a sample of the Chanel product, and got the Kashuk bronzer (warm tan for me) at Target for $10.99. Guess what? Like the YT consensus, totally the same. Chanel on one side, Kashuk on the other. SAME. Color, application, longevity. The only thing missing is the lovely scent in the Chanel product, but I can live without it.

Comment:
I opened a sample of Benefit’s They’re Real mascara. I had to pick myself up off the floor when my husband said to me, “your eyelashes look really nice today.” WTH??? That is a FIRST, let me tell you. You gotta know I’ll be keeping that in my stash.

Tutorial:
Here is a dad narrating his daughter’s makeup application. Quite humorous for the likes of us. “Dab, dab, dab, dab, dab!” 🙂 https://youtu.be/JP6ZDMaVyVI

I did order a few things, and I’ll report back when they’re in.

Weekend: Holiday party…holiday everything. I am not a holiday lover, so I find this season a drain.

Org tool — Nothing besides the calendar on my phone and Outlook. Old school paper calendar backs it up on my desk so I can see a month at a glance just by looking at it.

Mellan is channeling his inner cat — If it fitz, I sitz. 🙂

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

Thanks for the tip on the Kashuk! I find her products are a bit hit or miss. I was fairly disappointed with every eyeshadow palette I bought of hers.

That video was hilarious! I actually had posted it on my Facebook page when I saw it. What a great sport her Dad is!

Mo Merrell Avatar

Ouch their timing sucks. Hopefully you can return your items you purchased and get other goodies.

Haul: Nothing really. I purchased a nail polish rack from Marshalls that I just so happy to see after I’ve been searching for the best one to fit my needs and this came in handy for only 12 bucks. I’ve been doing Christmas shopping so nothing for me. I am hoping to find the perfect writing desk to use as a vanity desk. Mine is my old regular desk which is fine but it takes up more space than I’d like so downsizing a bit for less clutter.

Weekend plans: I have a makeup day with my personal trainer so I’ll see him on Saturday morning and hopefully one of my girlfriends would want to go out and enjoy the winter but who knows with them. I may go see a movie as I’ve been trying to get out and do more by myself and see either Office Christmas Party or Almost Christmas or maybe Moana or Solace.

What’s your favorite organizational tool?: My brain. LOL I am great with organizing. I map it out first then execute. At work I’m trying to get used to a planner book versus my phone and I’ve found a great one that is ONLY 2017 – I can’t stand those half year planners. I got it from Marshall’s for $8 but online it’s about $14. If you guys are looking for great planners check the site out. http://www.orangecirclestudio.com they are really functional and SIMPLE, no extra fluff.

Mo Avatar

Thanks Shari. Can u leave the link to it? I have the Avington desk from target but it’s too big for its new purpose. I want a console type desk…about 30iches or less, this one is 44 inches in length. That’s so big

Tammy Avatar

IT’S A BOY!

(I forgot to tell everyone the gender of my next grandchild after attending the gender reveal party a couple weeks back. We were hoping for a boy as my daughter already has two daughters, so we are thrilled.)

Haul: NARS Unfiltered I cheek palette (so good!). My MAC 25% off order arrived: I picked up eyeshadows
in mulch, motif, beauty marked, trax and quarry; lip pencils in soar and more to love; lipsticks in Craving and Captive; blush refills in Desert Rose and Pinch Me; Zoom Lash in Green is Green (love); and blot powder in light (a bit too light for my NC30 skin tone). I also got my Hylamide Black Friday set, which includes HA Blur, cleanser, face mist, and Subq Anti-Age for eyes and face. I bought it for the Subq Anti-Age face, which has been a must-have in my anti-aging regimen for the past two years.

Weekend plans: Tonight begins my holiday vacation. I don’t have to go back to work for 10 days! I don’t have any big plans, but I know I will be buying and wrapping gifts, cooking, reading, working out, sleeping in, and spending time with my family and cats❤️

My favorite way to get organized is by using a pen and a piece of paper to write things out.

Mariella Avatar

Tammy, it’s so neat reading your haul. I bought Mulch years ago, at the urging of my daughter (I demurred at first because I thought it would be too red but it has become one of my favourite, most used eyeshadows); Craving is probably my fave and most used lipstick of all time…I have 3 tubes on the go at any given time. And Desert Rose is the very first MAC blush I ever purchased. I still have it; I hit pan on it a few years ago and it just WON’T DIE (largely because it’s no longer the only blush I use; for the first few years, it was pretty much my only and certainly my “every day” blush). So many of my loves are in your haul.

Genevieve Avatar

How lovely that you are going to have a little boy in your family. I am overjoyed for you. Our little grandson Lachlan is such a delight – a really placid little chap with the sweetest smile. You will be in seventh heaven! I am really pleased that all is going well.

Tammy Avatar

No, this will be my first time using the other Hylamide products. I am interested in the blur. I am sure I will like Subq eyes and the Subq face is so essential.

Haul: I ordered an Argan oil holiday gift pack (it has a shower gel, body butter, lotion, oil, and more!) from the body shop for my mother for christmas! That should be here any day now. I also received a colourpop lipstick I ordered for her as well! I got her the colour Tiger. Because she always steals my tube of it 😛 ahaha.

I got my ebates payment in, so I ordered the ELF Flawless finish foundation because i’v seen multiple people on here talk about it in the comments!! It looks like a good colour and tone match by google swatches. But fingers crossed!!!

I also went to a Korean super market on wednesday, and I bought some Tea tree, and aloe sheet masks, a hair mask, and some liquid sun block!! I’v heard amazing things about Korean sunblocks, so I’m excited to try this one out!! fingers crossed it doesn’t make my acne prone skin explode ahaha.

Weekend plans: My best friend is HOME from University for the weekend!! She’s really stressed out about finals, so she’s driving 5 hours home today, and her and I are going to do our traditional holiday cookie bake off today!! We always see who can make the BEST tasting and most beautiful cookies. ahaha. It’s so silly but it makes me so happy!!

Favourite organizational tool: I’m diagnosed with ADD (Attention deficit disorder) so for me, i have SUCH a hard time keeping organized, and focused!! For me, my ADD meds help the most (Obviously 😛 ) but I ADORE lists!!! I make lists for EVERYTHING. I keep note books in my bag, so I can write down lists and follow them!!!

Moja31 Avatar

I’ve finally gotten around to trying colourpop and I’m obsessed. I’ve hauled an eyeshadow set, several individual colors, and about a dozen lip products. Finally trying tarte’s rainforest of the sea foundation because you love it so much, as well as the much raved about Huda Beauty liquid lipsticks, and Emma Hardie cleansing balm. Also finally got my hands on the sweet peach palette!

xamyx Avatar

Haul: Kat von D Crushed Metal eyeshadows in Thunderstruck, Danzig, Raw Power, & Black No 9 (with my Sephora $20), and LORAC Pro 3 palette, tarte Tarteist Pro eye palette, & several NYX matte lip pencils (ULTA 20% off).

I also caught a great sale at Toys R Us, and after walking in for 1 item, ended up with 5 Barbie items…

Plans: Going to the mall for Santa photo, and maybe hitting ULTA again, since I have another 20% coupon that came in the mail (I’m thinking LORAC Pro 2 and/or ABH Modern Renaissance).

Organization Tool: Appointments get written down immediately on a wall calendar; I’ve done it this way as long as I can remember.

xamyx Avatar

She’s really more into the “playsets”, and random clothes & accessories. We went in planning to just buy the jet plane, but there was a BOGO1/2 sale, so she also got the vacation cottage, baby doctor (that comes with 2 babies), a multi-pack of full mix & match outfits, and a Barbie pilot. We did 3 transactions to make the most of the sale, too!

Kat Avatar

Haul: I haven’t answered one of these in ages! Full-size May Coop Raw Sauce (I went through two travel sizes first), Shiseido facial cotton this week.

Over the whole last month, I got Ole Henriksen On The Go cleanser and Ole Henriksen Truth serum from Dermstore during a 20% off, then from Ulta on Black Friday weekend I got Nip + Fab Glycolic Night Pads Extreme (I’ve been using these for about 3 weeks, I really like them!), Eyelure Luxe Faux Mink Opulent Lashes (I haven’t used them yet, but they look so fluttery and gorgeous), Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil leave-in conditioner, a foot peeling bootie thing from Tony Moly, and Volumizing Hair Powder from Not Your Mothers.

Ooh! And I got Echo liquid lipstick from Kat Von D. For a blue lipstick, it’s surprisingly wearable! Now I want a dark forest green as well. I saw that Sephora added a zillion new colors of their cream lip stain (which I love), so I’ll definitely pick up the dark green from them!

Weekend Plans: Studying, writing. I have a final exam on Tuesday (I had one yesterday too and it went very well!) and a writing portfolio due also on Tuesday. My mom and brother are coming to visit tomorrow and also to pick up my big suitcase, since I’m moving back home in the middle of the week and won’t be able to take all my stuff on the train.

I also have to write up a knitting pattern. It turns out the owner of a yarn company I love went to my college, so they reposted a picture of a neckwarmer I’m making with their yarn on their Instagram, and a few people commented asking for the pattern! So I’ll post it on my knitting blog next week.

Finally, I have to ask my professors for letters of recommendation (so scary!). I’m applying to some summer internships all over the country!

What’s your favorite organizational tool?: I’m loyal to my written planner! It’s so hard to find nice planners in the academic year format (fall-spring) but digital tools just don’t work well for me in terms of tracking homework. I do use my phone calendar with alerts for events, though.

What a cute Mellan photo!! He’s such a cutie, and always so dapper with his bowties! My cat adores sitting in boxes, but my dog pretty much just ignores them.

Kat Avatar

Aw, thanks! It helps I’ve been knitting since I was 9. It’s like any skill, you just need time! It does help that I’m mathematically/3-dimensionally oriented though!

Tammy Avatar

My skin loves Ole Henrikson but I force myself to use more aggressive anti-aging products. Always enjoy the samples though!

What is your major? What internship is your first pick? Is moving home a welcome event or a necessity?

Kat Avatar

Isn’t Ole Henrikson great? It’s a rare brand that seems to be able to perfectly toe the line between powerful and gentle, so that I can use it without irritating my sensitive skin, while still getting pretty good results.

I’m a geology major actually! I always get a lot of questions about that one. I think my top internship would be either the one working at the Museum of Natural History in NYC, the Museum of Natural History at the Smithsonian in DC, or at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa doing volcanic research! Of course, who wouldn’t want to spend the summer in Hawaii? DC, not so much, the weather is horrid in the summer, but it’d be nice to be near my aunt, uncle, and cousin (who live there).

It’ll be nice to be home with my mom and brother for about a month. I could have stayed at school over break but I’d have to pay a ton of money for housing. The holidays are always stressful, but I have a good feeling that it’ll be a nice winter this year!

Joyce Avatar

Haul: bunch of B&BW soaps–mostly ‘Tis the Season! Some Sonoma holiday candles from Kohl’s.

Weekend plans: I feel like you this weekend! Finally able to see family again who I don’t get to see very often. Having a family party. I’m snow excited!! I’m in the car now as I post this!

What’s your favorite organizational tool?: I am 110% a physical pen and paper kind of girl. I love the feel of crossing stuff off my list. But I do love The Art of Simple’s Daily Docket also!

Fran Avatar

That photo of Mellan is so adorable! I think he loves makeup, too!

Haul:

My MAC 25% off order came in (five things were backordered and shipped as they became available — yesterday five boxes arrived from MAC, each containing one item, LOL! Pigments in Naval Blue, Silver, and Silver Fog; eyeshadows in Moon’s Reflection and In the Shadows; Pro eyeshadow pan refills in Vanilla, Omega, Quarry, Concrete, Shroom, Vex, Silver Ring, Knight Divine, Deep Truth, and Humid; matte lipstick in Midnight Troll (this was even more on sale, and I love blue lipstick — crazy packaging, though!).
CVS 20% off: some nail polishes and lipsticks from the Republic Nail Frida Kahlo collection — the first time I’ve bought makeup especially for the packaging — and repurchases of CeraVe makeup remover wipes and cleanser.
Target: Essie gel couture polish in Labels Only and the top coat.

Weekend plans: I’m going to hear a friends’ choir sing on Saturday. Polish my nails, with all that new polish, lol!

Favorite organizational tool: I need to find one, lol! I actually kept a little paper calendar until recently; currently using the calendar and contacts on my phone, but not sure I’m crazy about it yet.

Fran Avatar

I’m not sure, Christine! You know how much I like the MUFE shadows, and these are so different, it’s taking me a little getting used to. I did a great look today, though, with Silver Ring, Knight Divine, Vanilla, Quarry, and Vex.

Fran Avatar

Yes, it was really cool getting the Pro refill pans at $4.50 each. I haven’t tried my new pigments yet, because I’ve been playing with the eyeshadows, but I suspect I’ll adore the silver pigments — I’ve loved the other pigments I’ve tried, and really love a bright silver eyeshadow.

Fran Avatar

Michele, you were asking me about the Mason Pearson brush, too. I do like it a lot. I’m mainly using it when my hair is dry and styled with minimal product to be really soft and smooth (not styled with gunky stuff to try to bring out what little texture it has), and it’s really nice. Since you have baby fine hair that you want to grow long, I actually think that’s the hair type that would benefit the most. My own hair is somewhat fine, but super-strong (just doesn’t break — combs break before my hair does), so I probably have less justification, but I still really like the brush and am glad I bought it (at 25% off), since tailbone length hair only looks good if I keep it in really good condition. So it mainly I think it would depend on how you would use it that’s different from your other brushes. If you see a role for it, go for it! I’ve got different brushes for wet detangling, for distributing product through wet hair and blow-drying, for giving my scalp a good work-out, etc. My MP is really nice for detangling my dry hair and getting it into a smooth style. My other mixed-bristle brush has been demoted to things like when I want to spray some hairspray on a brush and run it through my ponytail.

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

Fran, I use my MP Handy brush nightly just before I go to bed. The Handy is an all boar bristle brush. I wasn’t sure what difference, if any, there would be going to a mixed bristle but because the Handy is smaller in size than the cheaper Olivia Garden paddle brush I use in the morning, I was looking for a larger brush size as the replacement. Like you, I use different brushes/combs for different things. I always brush my hair before showering with the Olivia Garden paddle brush (which is what I want to replace) – then follow with just a cheap comb to be sure any tangles are out. I use a MP comb in the shower to comb through my conditioner. I use a Wet Brush to brush through my wet hair. Then for styling I have 3 MP combs – the regular comb, the fishtail, and wide tooth – and of course ion round brushes for blow-drying. I feel like the boar bristle at night does a good job of keeping my hair looking healthy – so you don’t think going to a mixed bristle would be less effective for the a.m.?

Audrey Avatar

Haul: Lorac Porefessional Baked Porefecting Powder. This is possibly my 9th purchase of this powder since I use it as my everyday foundation. Love it! I also picked up the Dior Airflash foundation after wanting it for years and I love it so much! I thought I would, since there was a drugstore version I used back in high school and adored. I should’ve bought this sooner seeing as I’ve gone through quite the string of foundations I’ve felt “meh” about.

Weekend plans: Chisel my way out of my house. SO much ice! I do have a Christmas party to attend tonight, if it doesn’t get canceled due to the weather. Other than that, I’m taking it easy since this is the start of my winter break.

What’s your favorite organizational tool?: Check lists on sticky notes. I even draw a box to check off for each item, lol!

Best sweetie ever -Mellan!
*Haul – ColourPop – shadows in Babykins (my fave), High Rise (backup), Thirsty Girl (finally available as a single), Just Fur Fun, Prickly Pear, and Tinsel, some free CP shadow brushes. And Ultra Satin Lip in Bijou (OMG-love!).
*Weekend – re-organize stash, test makeup. Sadly, about 4 of the ABH shadows that I got during the 60% off sale will probably be returned. They are plum type shades (Aubergine, Not Today, Buon Fresco, Plum Smoke) , and I was careful to only pick ones rated A-/B+, but I think I have a bad batch, as my swatches appear to have about 25-50% less pigment than yours. Even when freshly applied, they are sheer, dry, and muddy looking, with fallout too, and primer /cream base doesn’t help much, as there’s so little pigment to begin with.
*Best organizational tool – I’m old school, I find a paper month-to-month desk calendar works best for me, so I can see the entire month, pinpoint extra busy times, prepare at least a week ahead, etc.

*Question-Christine, in last few days, I’ve noticed that when you respond to my comments, I don’t get any notification of new comments thru my yahoo email account. Is there a fix for that?

Hey!

Do you know if the Camélia de Chanel powder will be available in the US?

No plans yet

Post-Its lol several Post-Its all over the place

Haul: I used my Sephora coupon to get my friend Meteorites and a Dior polish. We have this absurd tradition where every year we buy each other insanely expensive presents that we would never spend money on ourselves. I don’t remember how it got started but I love it!

Weekend Plans: SLEEP, SLEEP, SLEEP. I’m pregnant and just want to eat cookies in bed!

Organizational tool: The garbage can! I hate clutter! I throw everything away.

Monica Avatar

lol I would rather get a Mellan

Haul: From the Sephora coupon codes that were recently sent out: The Boscia setting spray, MUFE aqua seal, Boscia williow bark spot treatment, and the Estee Edit Gritty and Glow palettes

Weekend plans: NYC for the weekend! It’s going to be nice to be doing all the Christmas things.
.
What’s your favorite organizational tool?: I’ve been using AirTable, and it is making tracking my collection so nice! I also do bullet journaling.

Haul: Most of my purchases this week were for other people as Christmas presents so didn’t buy much in the way of makeup. I did pick up a new flat iron but I am not loving it. It came pretty highly recommended from my aunt who is a cosmetologist and it is made by Paul Mitchell. Anyway, it works so I will keep it but just not over the top about it. I purchased a Phillips Wake Up Light for my daughter as she has issues about getting up in the morning and has been planning her entire college curriculum around sleeping late. She wanted a “gentle” wakeup. I think she is a night owl because while I was pregnant with her I was working the graveyard shift so I think she comes by it naturally.
Weekend Plans: My daughter is coming home from college so we are decorating the house for Christmas. We do it together every year.
Staying Organized: I am a list maker but I don’t use them for the actual process. Something about writing them down commits them to memory and I have found it an effective method for prioritizing and remember what needs to be done.

Deborah S. Avatar

I have 2 for my daughter that I am really excited about because she doesn’t have a clue about them which is more difficult as they get older. I got her tickets to see Ariana Grande in Seattle in March, not so much because she is an Ariana Grande fan, although she likes her but mostly because the opening act is a girls group from England, Little Mix, and she loves them. I got her one of the VIP packages so she will meet them, get a swag bag, etc. My daughter’s best friend is going to go with her but she doesn’t know about it yet either. That is going to be her Christmas present from me. I also got my daughter a Kate Spade handbag which she has wanted for forever and I decided to get it for her this year.
The other gift that I am really excited to share is a very expensive whiskey for my ex-husband. He is a whiskey lover and has been trying a lot of different brands so I got a recommendation from a friend of his and got that for him. I wish I had known that there is an Advent calendar that has a different whiskey for each day leading up to Christmas. Oh well, next year. I really love Christmas!!

Julia Avatar

Deborah, I have the Wake Up Light! I got it for Christmas last year. It took me a little while to get used to (I had the light setting too bright and was waking up at the beginning of the light cycle, not when the alarm went off) but now that I’ve adjusted it and gotten used to it I like it. I really do think it wakes me up more gently, and the light being on when I open my eyes makes me feel like it’s time to get up. I hope she likes it!

Nancy T Avatar

This pic of Mellan on FB had me roaring! The old “if I fits, I sits” is too cute for words! ?

Haul: Everything FINALLY got here! I am SO relieved. 2 Colourpop orders, not sure if one got here before last Friday or not? But from my latest order I now have in my hot little hands: Prickly Pear, Babykins, Birthday Girl, Hammered, Thirsty Girl and Muse Super Shock Eyeshadows, and Bijou Ultra Satin Lipstick with 3 free Colourpop eyeshadow brushes. Received my MAC x Mariah Carey “I Get So OCC” lipstick and Butterfly Bling yesterday morning: OMG, how gorgeous those are together!!!

Weekend plans: Playing catch-up around here along with my usual drill! So, hair, maybe nails, definitely meeting on Sunday, plus various errands. Including a trip to WM because I accidentally left a bag of groceries on the bus, and now I have to rebuy that stuff. ?

What’s your favorite organizational tool: If my desktop was set up, it would be MANY! I love Excel for keeping things inventoried, and for now, just good old pen and paper. I have always been a major list maker/keeper since an early age!

Haul: FRESH vitamin nectar face mask for me, and a handful of perfume and mascara minis that I’m going to toss in with my friends’ xmas gifts.

Weekend plans: clean the @^#*& out of my house, since my brother-in-law and a couple of my husband’s cousins are arriving on Wednesday and staying until the 26th.

fav organizational tool: I have a pocket planner that I carry in my purse, but if I need to list tasks like before we go on vacation I just make an excel spreadsheet.

Alice Avatar

I really like it. I was going to buy the rose mask (I got a deluxe mini of that in a FRESH bonus kit, I like products with rose for my face) but then I got a couple samples of the vitamin nectar mask and liked it better. I don’t think I’ve noticed any difference in how my skin looks after only 3 uses, but it definitely makes my skin feel soft and smooth and hydrated. Plus is smells amazing. The texture of these masks is like jelly though, so if you’re used to something thick like cream or gel it’s a little weird at first 🙂

Haul:
Until 5 min ago I could have proudly said “nothing”, until I saw a sale with some viseart palettes! It will be my birthday in advance ?.

Weekend plans:
Slowly getting ready for our little trip to France for the holidays to visit my family. This year’s feel extra special!

What’s your favorite organizational tool?:
Wunderlist! I did not try many per se but this one is convenient to share shopping list of to do lists!

Haul: Getting some stuff from Sephora with my coupon, more Fresh Seaberry and to break out with my makeup a little Bite Squid Ink.

Weekend Plans: Same as usual with food shopping, a game on Sunday, and getting better from this flu I’ve had. I need to do some writing, a whole lot of cleaning,I need to send out my christmas gifts and pick up prescriptions. It’s way to much for flu recovery but somethings are time sensitive.

Fave organization tools: Notes for iPhone. I take notes on all my reviews using speech to text. It’s not much put it helps me organize my thoughts later when I write my review. I also will usually use a product a few times and make updates on each with all uses.

Haul: The Algenist Drop and Glow duo of liquid luminizers. I was actually really surprised and pleased to find a set still left at my local Sephora (I think they had 2 or maybe 3) – I think a lot of people where I live don’t know about Algenist at all and don’t come here to Temptalia so just didn’t know about it. I also got the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume mascara (I think that’s the wordy name for it). It’s nice but a but too much of an unnatural effect for me. But no smudging at all (how great is that?)

Weekend plans: we’re supposed to visit dear friends for a Christmas get together but hubby has been having a very annoying, ongoing health problem (atrial fibrulation, which had been well controlled by meds til a few weeks ago and it flaring up all the time; he’s waiting to hear from his cardiologist, after numerous visits to the ER) – these episodes are getting in the way of us doing much of anything and I am so relieved that we’re not the ones hosting Christmas.

Favourite Organizational Tool: I’m sure it will sound quaint, but just ye olde written paper liste!

Christine Avatar

Hey Mariella!

Because you had asked about where to find the rest of “how it differs” on a dupe… we built these pages: http://www.temptalia.com/dupe-comparison/mac-i-get-so-ooc-vs-urban-decay-conspiracy/

So now when you’re seeing the Dupe List results, each result has a “view dupe details” button (http://www.temptalia.com/makeup-dupe-list/mac-cosmetics-lipstick/i-get-so-ooc/), and when you click that, you’ll be taken to the result’s “main page,” which enlarges the swatches, shows the product photo, separates the editor’s vote (me), and then community votes.

I hope your husband gets some answers soon, but hopefully, he is feeling OK and you can have a nice Christmas with others.

Mariella,

I had Afib treated through cardiac ablation 8 years ago. It fixed it and I haven’t had a problem since, thank heavens. Everyone is so different, and this is not medical advice. But here are some of the particulars that made an ablation likely to work for me.

I had proxsysmal (lone) afib. I had no valve issues, heart irregularities, or ischemic heart disease. The afib came on shortly after my husband had a serious cycling accident, nearly died, broke his neck, had a long recovery. They think the stress may have brought it on.

Has your husband undergone an ablation? Is it a possibility for him? It’s no fun, but when it works you get your life back.

The absolute stupidest thing I ever did was IGNORE it for two years. I would self correct, so I told myself it was “palpitations.” Everyone has those, right? (No.) Then, on top of it, I did an Ironman triathlon with afib, ignoring it. Denial is something else. I’m lucky I didn’t stroke out at best, possibly collapse and die. What a jerk.

Anyway, I share it in case it’s helpful. I figure an ablation convo is part of the mix of convos your hubby has had. But whenever I hear someone going through this, I want to share in case it helps. xoxo to you both. It’s tough.

Haul: I used the $20 off deal at Sephora to buy Marc Jacob Peridot and (Luna)tic Highliners.
Weekend plans: I’m going to a Geek women’s social event tomorrow that should be fun! And my niece’s winter dance performance.
What’s your favorite organizational tool?: I have a Passion Planner that is pretty cool!

Mo Merrell Avatar

I hopped on Sephora.com and saw the UD lip gloss and lipstick on sale for $11 so I snagged the color Roach in the lipstick and some pink color lip gloss.

Caroline Avatar

Haul: None
Weekend plans: Spending time in London with my niece-in-law and her husband, and then being home checked by The Labrador Rescue for our suitability to adopt one of their dogs.
Favourite organizational tool: None; I’m a Luddite and hopeless with such things!!

CeeBee Avatar

Mellan is adorable! That is so funny 🙂

Haul: Too Faced Bon Bons palette, Lanolips pear ointment, Hourglass Illusion Skin Tint and my latest Colourpop order has landed in the country but I haven’t received it yet, so next week for that one.

Weekend plans: We just adopted two rescue kittens, so settling them in!

Organisational tool: Um, does my brain count? I’ve been told I have a memory like a bear trap, but if I need a reminder to do something I write myself a post-it note and leave it in a strategic position.

CeeBee Avatar

I fell in love with a tiny little light brown, tiger striped tabby who is barely 2 pounds and named him Emmett. He is 10 weeks old and was a little bit shy for the first day but now he is acting like he owns the place. He likes to sit on my shoulder, which is too adorable for words! He likes chin scratches and sleeping in a little upside down curl of cuteness.

My husband picked out a 12 week old mostly black kitten, he has 2 little white tufts and kind of a weird looking face – he was the last of his litter and nobody wanted him. The rescue guy almost cried when we said we’d take him. He is a little bit uncoordinated because he has really long legs but he has SO MUCH PERSONALITY. He has a cute miaow too, almost like he trills several notes. We called him McClane and he’s that nerdy, clumsy kid that everyone laughs at and then discovers is actually pretty bad@$$ 😉

We are pretty smitten 😀

The only sweet peach I would want is Mellon!
Haul: I ordered some more Clarins Super Restorative foundation in Linen, as it was still at such a great price. and really just Christmas shopping.
Weekend plans: Wrapping up Christmas presents and hiding them from our grandchildren, who are sure to visit sometime this Saturday. Celebrating our 40th Wedding Anniversary on Sunday. We are going to a winery for lunch and my husband doesn’t know this, but our bridesmaid and groomsman are joining us. Our kids are going to give us a weekend away to a destination of our choice, as a thank you.
Organisational Tool: I generally use tables and graphic organsiers in Word.

Anne Avatar

Haul: The FAB cushion corrector (randomly got it at like 4 am). I also did a FeelUnique order of a few of the Tanya Burr holiday collection items.

I also did a load of Christmas shopping at places (online) like Roots and River Island (via ASOS). Which means I’m also getting myself socks & gloves from Roots and PJs from River Island…

Oh and I ordered a T-Shirt for charity from something Claire Marshall is doing. If anyone is interested in that it’s still up for 2 more days:
https://teespring.com/heyclairepencilsofpromise?utm_source=buyer_trans_orderplaced&utm_swu=7977#pid=70&cid=2342&sid=front

Weekend plans: Edit photos & swatches! Tidy up my desk.

What’s your favorite organizational tool?: I dig Todoist for regular tasks, especially blog-related ones!

Anne Avatar

Ack I forgot to change the last two from yours Christine! (I copy and paste) Sorry! Mine are:

Weekend plans: Nada, just hanging with cats

What’s your favorite organizational tool?: Probably iCal these days, used to be this app my university used to use which I forget. I also like Wunderlist for any to-do, grocery, wishlist, etc list types. It syncs with whichever devices I choose so it stays up to date on all of them and makes a very satisfying sound when you check something off.

Anne Avatar

Two words: sleeping meds. XD Though I don’t regret the purchase as it had been in my cart since it launched. I think the mini for the day on the 25 days of stuff-or-whatever on Sephora (NARS Velvet Lip Glide in Le Palace) was one I wanted to try so I figured I’d snag that, even though I know it will be teeny-tiny.

Megan H Avatar

Love the Mellan photo and caption 🙂
Haul: Used my $20 Sephora coupon and got a Tony Moly 2 pack of coconut sheet masks, Sephora cream lip stains in Rose Wood and Vintage Rosewood (love this formula), Sephora makeup remover and eye makeup remover wipe, Shiseido facial cottons

Weekend plans: run some errands; grab dinner with my girlfriends and hang out with my husband. And probably finish Stranger Things it’s no what I expected but I like it

Organizational Tool: I’m not a big organizators so at most I use Google calender!

Lisa G Avatar

Haul: Christmas gifts for family, friends and co-workers

Weekend Plans: still more Christmas shopping

Favorite organizational tools: lists, post-it notes, desk calendar and wall calendar!

First thought when I saw the Mellan photo: “That’s not a peach, it’s a Mellan!”

Dianne Avatar

OMG this picture of Mellan is the sweetest!

Haul: Finally got my Ulta orders, after a month of waiting! Got lots of Soap & Glory body products, the Real Techniques Miracle Diamond Sponge, three backups of my go-to Boots Botanics cleansing balm, and then my most recent order that contained the Smashbox Cover Shot palette in Golden Hour, tarte Shape Tape concealer (which I’m really enjoying so far!), and OPI Can’t Read Without My Lipstick polish.

Weekend plans: Seeing Rogue One tonight, going out to some punk show tomorrow, and last minute Christmas preparations on Sunday!

Favorite organizational tool: Honestly, just a generic daily planner because I *have* to make a to-do list for each day or I accomplish very little. I like the Design-a-Day ones from Target.

Claire L Avatar

Dog-in-the-box!

Haul: from my M&S beauty calendar this week: Rosie for Autograph Lip Glossy crayon in Supermodel Smile, mini powder brush from Look good, feel good, Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse, and a few other hair/skin care products.

Plans for weekend: Driving back and fro from our old flat sorting stuff out. We have until mid Jan so we’ll carry on again after Xmas. My parents are staying there at the mo and they’ll take our daughter up west to their house from tomorrow and we’ll join them on Wed. It’s been tiring driving there and back, we can’t afford to hire a van or for a pro removals company so we’re just taking what we can in our car. We’ve nearly finished moving what we want to keep, next will be sorting out what we want to put into storage at our parents’ or throw out.

What’s my favourite organisational tool? I like very simple tools, if it’s too complicated I’m less likely to use it. I use the list app on my S7 Edge, it’s called Memo, and I use the S Planner to send me reminders of events. I use Memo like a list of Post-it notes: shopping list, list of what to take from the flat, random notes, budgeting, anything really lol.

Love that pic of Mellen and your hubby’s caption.
Haul: 2 Caudalie hand cream/lip conditioner duos. Hourglass Ambient blus palette. MUFE eyeshadow ME624 very dark brown. Anastasia eyeshadow in Chocolate. Stila Stay All Day Matte Metal in Aurore. Zoya Magical Mystery nail polish/lipstick (Britta, Finley, and Troy nail polish and Maxwell lip) for a friend’s Christmas gift. Nyx Turn Up lipsticks in Sweet and Flutter Kisses. Catrice highlighters in Stardust and Champagne Campaign. Makeup Revolution Beyond Radiance highlighter palette. Makeup Revolution blush palette in Hot Spice which arrived broken, but Tina in customer service at Ulta shipped another right out. No problems. Ipsy bag with a Mica eyeshadow brush, Nyx Prismatic eyeshadow in Jaded, Smashbox Insta Matte, Hikaru liquid eyeliner, and Nip&Fab Exfoliate. My Sephora Play box came too. It had MUFE Step 1 primer, UD All Nighters setting spray, Sephora lipstain in 01 a classic red. Bobby Brown mascara, Dry Bar Detox dry shampoo, and Elizabeth and James Bourbon cologne. I’ve also wanted to get a less expensive set of makeup brushes to travel with day to day and I’ve heard quite a few say that the ELF brushes are good so I picked up several. The Ultim ate blending brush, a small tapered to apply highligher, an actual highlighter brush, countouring, blush, and a complexion (big powder) brush. I also picked up a Sephora multitasking #45 while at Sephora. I really need to cut myself off…no makeup…LOL.
Weekend Plans: Nothing. The forecast is below zero and we are supposed to have 10 inches of snow between now and Sunday morning.
Favorite organizational tool…my actual weekly planner (calendar in paper form). I like the feeling of journaling my day. I keep the calendars and sometimes I’ll look back to see what was happening.

ShariP Avatar

I’ve used both of the eyeshadows and can say I love the Anastasia Chocolate very much. I have tried two MR highlighters, Peach Lights and Radiant Lights and I really like that they are a bit subtle so I bought this palette. It swatches similar to the individual ones. Jury is still out on the HR blush palette. I’ve only tried the peach blush. I like the formula, not sure on the color. The Stila lipstick formula is awesome, would definitely buy it again.

Tamara Avatar

Haul: with my $25 at Sephora I got the Nars Give & Take palette, and I like it so far. From HSN I ordered the Sweet Peach eyeshadow palette that I swore I wasn’t going to get, the Sweet Peach Glow palette, and from Sephora one of the lip glosses. I accidentally chose Poppin’ Peach, which is likely going to be too orange for me. From Mac × Mariah Carey I got the liquid eyeliner in This Is My Night, lipstick in I Get So OOC, Butterfly Bling and Just Like Honey lipglasses, So Dramatique lipliner, and the It’s Everything Eyeshadow quad. I got Liptensity lipsticks ( I really love these) in Ambrosial, Postmodern, and Eros. Galaxy Grey wasn’t in stock so I ordered that and Claretcast. From QVC I ordered the Laura Geller Wardrobe of Delights, Doll 10 Pro Eyeshadow Palette, Doll 10 Beauty Better Than Nude 6 PC lipstick collection. The lipsticks are going back; I can’t get by with those pale shades. My lips are so thin it looks like mouth has been erased. This morning I saw that Sephora had that Marc Jacobs palette on sale and I had to have it; I’ve been looking at it for so long I just couldn’t pass it up. I ordered that and the Bobbi Brown palette which turned out to be one I already have. The colors look different on the photo- I think it looks like shades of plum or purple, and I ordered it. Then I started reading about it and recognized the names from the palette I have, which has shades of brown and gray, of course. It was too late to cancel my order, though. I’ll return it. Weekend plans: Christmas shopping, trying to get some stuff wrapped. Watch A Madea Christmas. What’s your favorite organizational tool? I’m pretty unorganized and should probably spend this weekend trying to find a good organizational tool!!!

Wajiha Avatar

oh Mellan! Such a cutie trying to fit into that box <3

Haul: Seeing that I missed volumes 369 and 370 I have got a bit of back log of 'hauls' plus the Black Friday/Cyber Monday orders have finally started to make their way to Australia, thoughstill have one missing.
– Mac Star Trek Trip the Light Fantastic in Strange New Worlds. It finally went in goodbyes, saved 20%.
– Picked up a pack of facial cottons that can be pulled apart from MUJI. I am using Zelens PHA+ Bio-Peel Resurfacing Facial Pads these days and I realised how thin the pads are. I am on a mission to find as thin pads and save on product. Next I want to try the cottons from Innisfree
– FOREO Luna 2 which was 25% off and came with a free Luna Play
– ColourPop eyeshadows in Wattles and Hanky Panky. They did free international shipping so figured it would be the right time to dip the toe in the ColourPop water
– Three bottles of Nuxe Eau Demaquillante Micellaire, there were 3 for 2 plus additional discount using money off coupon. I have not yet found a micellar water that works better than this, beats Bioderma too IMHO but it is fragranced (which I love) but people with sensitive skin might not like.
– Decleor Aroma White C Brightening Essence, was 30% off plus additional discount via coupon
– Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel, 20% off
– BH Cosmetics Foil Eyes Palette but it is for my sister so technically not a part of my haul
– Caroline Hirons Cult Beauty Box of Dreams II containing May Lindstrom Pendulum Cleansing Oil (DS) 30ml, Sunday Riley Good Genes 30ml, Kypris 1000 Roses 14ml, Zelens 3t Complex 50ml, Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist 30ml, Bella Freud Loving Candle, Therapie Equilibrium Bath and Shower Essence

Weekend Plans: Woodworking on Saturday. Though it is a 3hr class it ends up taking all of my morning and afternoon and after I'm too tired to do anything else. I'm travelling for a two day trip on Sunday evening so will be packing etc. in the morning.

Favourite Organisational Tool: Good old notebook and pen. I love buying stationery and collect fountain pens and ink so it is fun writing things down and whatever I write down I remember them more

Wajiha Avatar

Thank you 😀

I like the Luna very much. It’s gentle and effective and doesn’t feel like you’re stressing your skin out using abrasive brushes. The massage/anti-aging function is really relaxing at the end of the day and I’ve noticed the fine lines around my mouth have started to plump up a bit.

Alecto Avatar

Haul: ABH Modern Renaissance palette, EL Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup in 1W1, Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, Bite Beauty Multistick in Cashew, Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Brow Color in Light Ash, Tarte Colored Clay Tinted Brow Gel in Taupe, Givenchy Play Intense for Men EdT (and a free hooded robe that came with the scent purchase!)

Weekend plans: Unfortunately, I’ve hit a strangely busy point at work and need to play catch-up, so I’ll be going into work on Sunday, but tomorrow I intend to do some laundry and relax!

What’s your favorite organizational tool?: Some post-it notes, but also a notepad, and Outlook Calendar (the latter is indespensible for work).

Alecto Avatar

As a first layer of blush, over my foundation but under my powder. I then go over that with a powder blush. I have difficulty with getting blush to last, and this is my first real attempt to address that issue. I picked cashew because it seemed the most neutral relative to all the colors of blush I have. If it turns out to be an astounding success, I’ll likely get two or three more, choosing from whatever “base” colors I think would work best to highlight or neutralize some of my powder blushes; right now I think my pool of choices that make the most sense are a warm pink, plum, a warmer neutral … something (like a tan), orange-ish, a “purple,” a light wine, and a red. I haven’t checked against the other Bite colors yet, but if I go this route, I’ll probably go with the plum, orange-ish, and wine, assuming all those are represented in the multisticks..

Haul: Chanel Lumieres de Kyoto Harmony Blush (it is so beautiful and the rosebud blush the star of the show!), Sephora VIBR $25 off: Tom Ford L&B Dylan and Living proof shampoo/ conditioner/dry shampoo sample set; Saks Canada gift card promo: Chanel lip liners in Desir and Seduction, Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in Rouge Feu, Tom Ford L&B Ryan

Weekend plans: We’re having a prolonged snow storm with windchills and plummeting temperatures, so activities will be dictated by the weather. We’re getting ready to go home to Canada for Christmas, so packing, sorting gifts, checking our cat into his “resort”, and finishing endless to-do list is what we’re up to this weekend.

What’s your favorite organizational tool? A to-do list and blocking out chunks of time for focused work. So that I attend to important or urgent tasks, I have to write down my various activities and prioritize them. I feel scattered if I don’t write things down as I might work on something that is a lesser priority just because it’s more fun or top of mind. I also need dedicated time to complete activities and check off completed tasks to see progress.

Wishing everyone safe travels and happy holidays!
